The United Kingdom condemned the United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday over the body’s long-standing anti-Israel bias, demanding the council drop a controversial agenda item placing Israel under intense scrutiny.

On Monday, British foreign affairs chief Boris Johnson slammed the UN Human Rights Council – a 47-member body headquartered in Geneva – calling on the council to drop Agenda Item 7, an item which has made the Israel-Arab conflict a permanent focus of the council.

Speaking at the opening of the UNHRC’s 38th session, Johnson said that the UK viewed Agenda Item 7 as “disproportionate” and “damaging”. Johnson also threatened to vote against all motions brought under Agenda Item 7 in the future.

"We share the view that the dedicated Agenda Item 7 focused solely on Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories is disproportionate and damaging to the cause of peace, and unless things change we shall vote next year against all resolutions introduced under Item 7," Johnson said, according to AFP .

Recently, the US delegation to the United Nations reiterated its opposition to the UNHRC’s “chronic anti-Israel bias”, amid rumors the US is poised to quit the council .

Under President George W. Bush, the US boycotted the UNHRC for three years, before President Obama restore US participation with the council in 2009.

Because bulldozing Palestinian neighborhoods to build Jewish settlements is just being nice?

Try putting up a shack without a building permit and see how far YOU get.  Or are you talking about bulldozing the murdering terrorists' homes - that does them a favour, the PA builds them a new one with your dollars.  Complicity?

They'll have to consult with "Iran".

Good for them. It's about time someone other than the United States stood up for Israel. Is there another country that has had more shots taken at it in the last 70 years than Israel?

And yet, the Chamber of Insanity that is the UN Human Rights Council has condemned Israel more than all other countries combined!  How many times? 62 times as of 2015. 62 times! And the Council was only formed in 2006!

Only Syria has even been condemned in double digits - 17. What about other countries that are actually famous for their human rights abuses? China? Iran? Turkey? Yemen? Russia? Saudi Arabia? Somalia? Congo? Venezuela? Cuba?

ZERO!

well Buzz, US is leaving -

Last year, Haley warned the Geneva-based council that the U.S. would withdraw if it did not end its systematic scrutiny of Israel and alleged Israeli rights abuses against Palestinians.

She denounced the council as a "forum for politics, hypocrisy and evasion" and accused member countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, China, Burundi and Saudi Arabia of failing to fulfill their duties to "uphold the highest standards" of human rights, while emphasizing what she said was the council's anti-Israel bias.

How can anyone blame them for that?  Any righteous contribution by them is going to be ignored by the human-rights offending nations (and the oil-hungry nations that are forced to pander to them) that will demonize democratic nations anyway, so why should they bother wasting their time being there? In light of the majority of evil, what good can they do?

Agree.  I never understood how any country that blatantly denies human rights to its own people is allowed to be part of a humans rights council and accuse others of doing same.

I agree with Johnson about this. Focusing solely on Israel is disproportionate and should cease.

Although Great Britain has a history of pandering to the Arab States because of its need for oil, and its betrayals of Israel in the past, it's good to see that at least with respect to the UN's bias it has become righteous.

Given the very recent history of torture by the US and our current Fuhrer's promise to continue to use torture, it's not surprising that the US has once again resigned from the HRC.     It's simply no longer an advocate for human rights.
