The sky isn't falling on Trump's America
there’s a deeper and more interesting truth behind the mindset of those who cover the news and try to shape public perception of events.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

Many news reporters took up the Democrats’ banner at every stage, writing stories to follow whatever theme the party was messaging on any given day.

---------------------------------------------

Beltway journalists, including the few conservatives, are obsessed with every minor matter that comes across Twitter. These poor souls live and die with every political utterance, every innuendo, every smear, every jot and tittle of political gossip. We're not immune to this ourselves. But we endeavor not to lose sight, as so many people in our line of work do, of the fact that there is much of importance to the public that is not retailed endlessly through the well-curated Twitter feeds of like-minded Beltway journalists.

---------------------------------------------

President Trump's administration is, for us inside the Beltway, a never-ending circus. The president's frequent tweets, first of all, are ridiculous, impolitic, or frequently offensive. White House controversies — there are real ones and others created by sloppy reporting nearly every week — are a constant.

But does the rest of America live and breathe this stuff? Does it view the world this way? Do ordinary people care or even notice most of the things that send denizens of the Beltway scrambling for the defibrillator?

The fact the 2016 election result caught so much of the press off-guard should have forced everyone to rethink their obsessions. What matters to political hacks is often of little concern to the public. Most of America neither knows nor cares whether Trump insulted a reporter during a news conference the other day ?

----------------------------------------------

What they see is what is both obvious and most important: Even though Trump is graceless, thin-skinned, uninterested in details, and apparently deceptive, the sky has not fallen on America since his election. Most things are going pretty well, and certainly better than they were before he was elected.

In the real world, the economy is booming. Growth is soaring at a rate that Obama said was no longer possible. Job creation is up and unemployment is down, especially among black and Hispanic workers, who the anti-Trump crowd would have you believe are afflicted by presidential racism. The labor market is so tight that employers are raising wages and overlooking job candidates’ blemishes, including criminal convictions.

Exports are up substantially over the past year, in spite of Trump’s counterproductive tariff war. Manufacturing output is about to hit its pre-recession high, and there are 400,000 more manufacturing jobs today than there were when Trump took office. The stock market, the vehicle for most retirement savings, is hitting new highs this week. The housing market is neither frothy nor lagging. The price of gasoline is reasonable.

Whether or not you’re willing to acknowledge the enormous role that deregulation and corporate tax reform have played in making such things possible, you cannot credibly pretend that the economy is doing poorly, which is why Democrats are so silent about it as the midterm elections approach.

And so on and so on ! Trump is actually Doing !

In short, take a mental health break from social media and talk to real people, and you’re likely to realize that most of them don’t think the country is in trouble or that Trump’s presidency is a disaster.
A month from now, voters are expected to follow the historic norm and repudiate the party in power. If they reprimand Republicans more gently than the Beltway media expect, we will not be surprised.

Most of America aren't Trump supporters. Only Trump supporters refuse to care about decorum, civility, honor, manners or what used to encompass the phrase "acting Presidential". They don't care about his insults to journalists, our allies or other Americans because his base hates foreigners and fellow Americans who don't happen to share their religious or political views with a passion that hasn't been seen since the civil war. Much like a person who has never had any instruction on dinner etiquette so have no clue as to which fork is the salad fork, Trump supporters have had little to no instruction in civics so they have no clue as to what kind of etiquette has been expected of every President since our founding. The majority of Americans of course do know what's expected and how a President should behave so as to not embarrass his own country. But in Trumps case his loyal followers not only don't know how he should be acting, they encourage his crapping all over the presidential norms. In their minds those norms never got them out of poverty so like the peasants in the French revolution they've risen up and placed their mob boss in the white house to crap on all their enemies and figuratively guillotine the liberals, progressives, lgtbq Americans and any other minority group they feel have been getting more attention than themselves, the straight white Christians.

Thanks for calling half the population uneducated hicks. Keep thinking that way up to and through the midterms. Such silly some comments will come back to bite you. In case you have not been paying attention, what Trump's doing is the "new normal", and if the Democrats ever want to regain power, they are going to have to nominate some ass kicking and credible candidates. You can't deny that he has had a string of incredible successes

And the "Twilight Zone" just became a reality.

In what reality is it civil, honorable or a display of good manners to mock a victim of sexual assault or a disabled reporter? In what reality is it proper decorum to insult our allies while cozying up to authoritarians and despots? In what reality is considered reasonable to ridicule and vilify the free press just because they were unflattering? In what reality is it honorable to mock or insult goldstar families? This is the "Twilight Zone" President, the abnormality that exposes that segment of America who have hidden their emotional deformation of racism and bigotry for decades but have now been given cover by a racist bigoted President so they no longer fear the light.

While the story of an unhinged half-wit bigot running the most powerful country on the planet would make for exciting Tv drama, having to watch it live as it happens is a bit surreal. Every day I'm surprised at the new depths of depravity this President stoops to and for a while kept wondering "So is this it? Will this new gaff be enough to end the Gold-painted Presidency? Will this finally be enough for those Trump fans with even a shred of conscience to pull their support?". But alas, I no longer even entertain such thoughts of Trump supporters reinserting any sort of backbone they may have had in the past and standing up for what's right, standing up against a poorly educated bully who is a complete embarrassment to the vast majority of patriotic Americans.

"Sticks and Stones", and all those other phrases one learns in Play School.

In what reality is it civil, honorable or a display of good manners to Get physical, Burn, Break, shatter, scream in ones face, run human beings out of restaurants, corner folks in elevators, etc.....?

And yes, those are called "Mobs", no matter how the left Media tries to deflect or dismiss that fact.

My fav. was the Trump Supporting LONE women that got caught at the closed Hotel Glass doors by Trump Haters, and was egged and had bottled waters thrown at her head during the election.

And nothing like running into a restaurant to spit scream at someone having a nice private dinner with friends and familySo Civil and Moral.....Pffffffft. jrSmiley_78_smiley_image.gif

He has certainly ridden on Obama's coattails when it comes to the economy, taking credit for the low unemployment when it was Obama who lowered it by nearly 10% while Trump has overseen a drop of just 0.8%. He added to the gains made for the stock market, though under Trump we've seen the two worst single day stock market drops in history. Success? No, but at least it's not a complete failure.

How about on the ACA he promised would be killed and replaced with something better? Nope, still nothing better even presented let alone achieved. Success? I think not.

The North Korea deal? We get a few hundred repatriated remains of our soldiers and an unbound undefined promise to sometime in the future work towards denuclearization while NK gets world recognition, standing on the same stage as the US with the same number of flags presenting themselves as global equals, something they have always desired, and a stopping of military exercises with our South Korean allies. Success? I think not.

A dozen of his campaign officials have either been indicted or plead guilty of financial crimes or lying to the FBI about their involvement with Russian operatives. Half a dozen cabinet picks are under investigation, have quit or been fired for misuse of government funds. Success? I think not.

Numerous accounts of chaos in the white house, he's gone through more staff than any prior President this early in a Presidency. Success? I think not.

The only ones seeing Trump as a success are those who believed our system of government was so broken it needed to be completely destroyed and remade in their image. And the fact is the image it's being remade into under this President more resembles the poor white racist plantation owners of the confederacy than it does hard working honest union supporters. While that may make some angry bitter bigots happy, it does not generate any joy for freedom and equality loving Americans who embrace diversity and recognize our multi-cultural, multi-faith, multi-race melting pot as an asset, not a liability. To us it's clear, the Trump Presidency is a complete failure as it has taken us backwards and widened divisions, not forwards to a more perfect union.

I'd much rather have someone scream in my face or disrupt my meal than to have them ram their car into me during a peaceful protest killing one and seriously injuring 28.

And just so we're clear, I do not advocate for or support the anarchist antifa who use the righteous fight against fascists and worthless white supremacists as an excuse to vandalize and commit petty crimes or maybe even to punch a few Nazi's (which I think any true patriot would at least think about if given the opportunity).

And the woman caught in hotel doors being egged that Trump supposedly supported should talk to his 19 credible accusers who know the real Donald Trump, not that any of his deplorable supporters would care about women or their desire not to be treated as sexual objects or mere "pussies" to grab or "move on like a bitch".

Those are some extreme stretches to claim those were politically motivated terrorists. Just being "registered Democrat" does not make your actions politically motivated. In most of the right wing terror list above the violence was specifically ideologically motivated, and the list is of course three times longer.

apparently deceptive

Someone who lies to the public on an average of EIGHT times each and every day, isn't "apparently deceptive", he is either evil or mentally ill.

Donald Trump has NEVER had 50% or more of Americans behind him.

Even more disturbing than all the right wing excuses for his dishonesty in the office though, is the ignoring , by the right and others, of Trump's unethical and illegal behavior. He is a crook. He is frankly, a proven crook. No crook should be president of the United States.

Did you miss this part :

What they see is what is both obvious and most important: Even though Trump is graceless, thin-skinned, uninterested in details, and apparently deceptive, the sky has not fallen on America since his election. Most things are going pretty well, and certainly better than they were before he was elected. This would explain why, at a polling average of nearly 44 percent job approval, Trump is almost as popular as he was at the time of his inauguration. And in favorability terms, he is significantly more popular than he was at any point of the 2016 election.

It would also explain why Gallup found last month that public satisfaction with the direction of the country is currently higher, and dissatisfaction currently lower, than at any point during Barack Obama’s eight-year presidency.

Normal Folks are only worried about the "Good" happening as it pertains to their own lives, as it should be. Finding a few disheartened folks isn't "The Country".

I JUST HEARD HE SIGNED THE "SAVE OUR SEAS" ACT. Liberals should be in luv with him right now. jrSmiley_81_smiley_image.gif
