Always hated, Hated, HATED it and the word hate is a reserved word for me.
Our first event win using and using an engine I had finally fully spec'd. EXCEPT for 1 detail. I agreed to let the owner to spec the headers. Big Mistake. This resulted in a very narrow power band at the upper rpm range.
Well, using a slipper style clutch in a "clutchless" manual transmission, you can use the clutch to manipulate how and when lockup occurs. This one took a lot of babysitting and there were only 2 of use working this car. Clutch work and adjustments between every round.
Hot engine, trans and clutch parts. Sunny hot day, no clouds, over asphalt, going through sports drinks and bottled water like no tomorrow. Missed those girls at Maple Grove making real, fresh crushed lemonade, had to lay down in the hauler for a bit after one session in the pits and get someone else to help stage the car.
Fast forward sometime after 1 AM we are the class winner.
Got the car loaded up, got in the cab of the truck and turned on the radio to a known rock station.
I want to like this song. They're a good band and it's not a bad arrangement. But the lyrics are sooooooo stupid that I want to jam pencils in my ear. This song comes on and I dive for the radio to change the channel.

What's wrong with it? Were they off key?
The lyrics
Pete Seeger
A prolific songwriter, his best-known songs include " Where Have All the Flowers Gone? " (with Joe Hickerson ), " If I Had a Hammer (The Hammer Song) " (with Lee Hays of the Weavers), and " Turn! Turn! Turn! ", which have been recorded by many artists both in and outside the folk revival movement and are sung throughout the world. "Flowers" was a hit recording for the Kingston Trio (1962); Marlene Dietrich , who recorded it in English, German and French (1962); and Johnny Rivers (1965). "If I Had a Hammer" was a hit for Peter, Paul and Mary (1962) and Trini Lopez (1963) while the Byrds had a number one hit with "Turn! Turn! Turn!" in 1965.
Seeger was one of the folk singers responsible for popularizing the spiritual " We Shall Overcome " (also recorded by Joan Baez and many other singer-activists) that became the acknowledged anthem of the Civil Rights Movement , soon after folk singer and activist Guy Carawan introduced it at the founding meeting of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in 1960. In the PBS American Masters episode " Pete Seeger: The Power of Song ", Seeger stated it was he who changed the lyric from the traditional "We will overcome" to the more singable "We shall overcome".
You want bad music?
There's a shitload out there.
I apologize for abusing the definition of the word "music".
