I love these little sweeties! I heard a bunch of birds singing this morning, and am so glad to hear them again! They have been silent, lately, with all the snow.

I do wonder if you have the gray headed variety (Junco hyemalis caniceps), of which I've never seen...so cool! What we see are absolute Dark Eyed around here.

The grey heads are often female coloration.

These are Slate-colored Juncos Juncohyemalis hyemalis

Ahhh, thanks for the info. I love fishing too A. Mac, but it isn't as easy with my schedule, as bird watching is. So, I tend to spend more time doing that. Actually, that's one of the things that makes this time of year fun; and, when the Juncos start thinning, it means the arrival of other species to enjoy!
