Thank you, Ender; the real "gift" is the inclination to look for the subtle and overt beauty in Nature … many people "look" but, fail to "see," or, look too quickly or casually … then move on … continuing to "overlook" so much.
The 19th Century American, Hudson River School painter, Asher Brown Durand said … "To know Nature, go into the woods with a painter." Durand began his career as an engraver, so his attention to detail was meticulous and precise.
"To know Nature, go into the woods with a painter."
To me, those words ring so true, and are similar to what Elanor Arraway (Jodi Foster) said in the movie "Contact" when she was transported to a distant planet, where the sky was filled with magnificent fantastic celestial objects, and being unable to find the words to describe it, she said "So beautiful - They should have sent a poet."
(Verse) I was a stranger in the city Out of town were the people I knew I had that feeling of self pity What to do, what to do, what to do? The outlook was decidedly blue But as I walked through the foggy streets alone It turned out to be the luckiest day I've known
A foggy day in London town It had me low and it had me down I viewed the morning with much alarm The British museum had lost its charm How long, I wondered, could this thing last? But the age of miracles hadn't passed For, suddenly, I saw you there And through foggy London town The sun was shining upside-down!
I think that if you speak in pictures, I speak in movies. I can almost always come up with a quotation or a situation from a movie wherein real life actually imitates art rather than the other way around.
The car or the ship? My brother crossed the Atlantic in a Corvette when he was in the Canadian Navy - said the waves were higher than the ship. Said the crew was so tired they could sleep standing up.
When young, I had an uncle who owned one of those 1957 Corvettes. That particular model and my uncles had the 283-283 "Fuelie" motor.
It was the first American made naturally aspirated, gasoline burning production engine to make 1hp per cubic inch of displacement (CID).
I almost called the pedigree of the bottom one into question. It is probably the most rare of all Corvettes. It is 1 or 2 ZL1 Corvettes produced. It would never have raced any form of B production in SCCA competition irrespective of switching to an L88 iron block for sanctioned competition.
Turns out it ran autocross, not SCCA and I have no familiarity with their categories, I'll leave it at that.
Sometimes you're the last to know.
It is a gift.

I think it is a good story and i agree with Ender, it is a gift.
Such should be a commandment rather than just advice.
Will I literally be the last to know?
Anyone around?
Looks like a "portrait" of George Gershwin … don't know how to explain that …
I can explain it.
A Foggy Day (In London Town) by George Gershwin
(Verse)
I was a stranger in the city
Out of town were the people I knew
I had that feeling of self pity
What to do, what to do, what to do?
The outlook was decidedly blue
But as I walked through the foggy streets alone
It turned out to be the luckiest day I've known
(Chorus)
A foggy day in London town
Had me low and had me down
I viewed the morning with alarm
The British museum had lost its charm
How long, I wondered, could this thing last?
But the age of miracles hadn't passed
For, suddenly, I saw you there
And through foggy London town
The sun was shining everywhere
A foggy day in London town
It had me low and it had me down
I viewed the morning with much alarm
The British museum had lost its charm
How long, I wondered, could this thing last?
But the age of miracles hadn't passed
For, suddenly, I saw you there
And through foggy London town
The sun was shining upside-down!
My photo is A Foggy Day (in Chengdu Town)
That explains it!
Discouraging.
Don't give up - I just finished breakfast.

If you guys speak in pictures and movies, I speak in engines.
Funnily enough, when I was young somebody once told me I was going to grow uop to be a Corvette,
True story.
The car or the ship? My brother crossed the Atlantic in a Corvette when he was in the Canadian Navy - said the waves were higher than the ship. Said the crew was so tired they could sleep standing up.
I forgot about the ship.
At the time it would have been either one of these:
I choose the first one.
When young, I had an uncle who owned one of those 1957 Corvettes. That particular model and my uncles had the 283-283 "Fuelie" motor.

It is a gift for sure, Mac.
Very true Mac and a gift for sure.

Sorry to report, GOD got short changed with me.

Hope it is.

Well according to my parents and a few others they said that I never lived up to my full potential.
I said back, Who cares I made sure I had fun.
.................................
They said "Get A's." I said "Make it worth my while." They said I was a smart ass.
