Ocasio-Cortez Threatens To Retaliate Against Trump Jr. Over Meme, Twitter Explodes With Accusations Of Ethics Violations
A source close to Donald Trump Jr. says that they expect an ethics complaint will be filed.

Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatened to use the powers of her elected office to retaliate against Donald Trump Jr. on Friday after the president's son posted a meme trolling her on his personal Instagram account.

"I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. "Please, keep it coming Jr - it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month."

"Have fun!" she concluded.

Please, keep it coming Jr - it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month.

Ocasio-Cortez's tweet came in response to this Instagram post from Trump Jr.:

It’s funny cuz it’s true!!!

A post shared by   Donald Trump Jr.   (@donaldjtrumpjr) on   Dec 6, 2018 at 4:01pm PST

Almost immediately, numerous political analysts, commentators, and pundits noted that Ocasio-Cortez's comments likely constituted an ethics violation.

"It's worth noting that the official House Ethics Manual explicitly prohibits the kind of threat that @Ocasio2018 just issued against @DonaldJTrumpJr for his refusal to support her political agenda," The Federalist's Sean Davis   wrote   on Twitter.

The House prohibition on the very kind of threat that   @Ocasio2018   just made to   @DonaldTrumpJr   couldn't be clearer: lawmakers are "prohibited from threatening punitive action" against people/groups for not politically supporting the lawmaker. Ethics Committee should investigate.   pic.twitter.com/NNIPp1vsyv

A source close to Donald Trump Jr. told The Daily Wire that they expect an ethics complaint will be filed.

Here are some of the most notable responses to Ocasio-Cortez's tweet:

So, um, if he trolls you on media, then you're going to use the power of the government to come after him? That's not fascist or anything.   https://t.co/82hOJp39Ua
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro)   December 7, 2018

So you stalk   @DonaldJTrumpJr   on Twitter and are now threatening to abuse Congressional subpoena power for a personal vendetta if he continues to point out the stupid things you say? How very progressive.   https://t.co/y83M83NH55

"The new gestapo will come to us in the form of internet trolls led by a telegenic populist from one of the five boroughs." - Nostradamus   https://t.co/zIBbAGEQcF

Something tells me that if this happened, the media coverage would look different than Politico's story here.   https://t.co/wbxYpAl0Ed
— German Lopez (@germanrlopez)   December 7, 2018

My dislike for Jr is well-documented, but threatening a private citizen with a Congressional subpoena because he made a meme you don't like is one hell of a hot take.   https://t.co/urxbAaSIbA
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom)   December 7, 2018

Sorry, did this fool just threaten to use the power of government to punish a citizen because he posted a meme?   https://t.co/gnlpGAAiKs
— Brandon Morse (@TheBrandonMorse)   December 7, 2018

Did you just threaten to subpoena someone for criticizing you? As a lawyer and former prosecutor I find this deeply troubling.   https://t.co/OqIpBkbsIS
— Kimberly Guilfoyle (@kimguilfoyle)   December 7, 2018

. @Ocasio2018 , you come off as ignorant and uninformed.

Going to threaten all of with illegal retaliatory subpoenas because you’re too thin skinned to take that kind of criticism?

You are proving that you are far too emotional and immature to hold this seat.   https://t.co/JHLnBBrhiT

Poor junior. With the Mueller news of today, wingnut media complains about ethics violations. that's rich. I thought the right respected the politics of threats, revenge, and retaliation. Jr's net worth will be a case of ramen in just about a year.

Funny about this, since everything that everyone points to are things that are either done commonly by incoming Presidents-elect or happened YEARS before Trump received the GOP nomination.  That is all Mueller has gotten and can prove.  Everything else is just attempts to justify his investigation that was supposed to be about some sort of Russian meddling in our election but has turned into a full on Catholic Church-like Inquisition with the goal of burning Trump at the stake without any actual evidence of anything other than Trump beat Hillary when she should have been anointed.

While entirely possible. Stuff like General Flynn did I seriously doubt he came up with all on his own to tell russia what trump planed after trump took office.  I doubt the president himself would approve of that crap. Flynn would probably be in jail today. lol

Also it's not like trump hasn't played close to the edge before, that's why he's constantly under the nose hairs of the IRS. and probably why the man's been sued so many damn times. and why he had a room full of lawyers on staff.  But he is our president,  Ya gotta give the man credit for that.

Please, any business man or woman, that builds a business empire has full time people to deal with the IRS and the IRS have people whose career it is to look at the taxes of the business people and their corproations for violations.  I am on the board of directors for several not for profits and our filings (990s) we end up taking extensions to complete the paperwork on to make sure it's right.  Multiply that 500+ for profit businesses, under one umbrella.  If there was cheating going on, the IRS would find it and it would be published.....and yet.....nothing, even under the Obama led IRS which made it their stock and trade to screw with organizations and peopel they didn't like.

I did not state trump had broken any laws. I stated trump has been known to play it close to the edge of rules and or laws before.  I think he has, does and probably will till the day he dies.

I also will say to me that's not cool.  Not by a long shot.

I was brought up to play by the rules, be courteous to others and respect those that came before and after me. Honesty, manners, morals and respect were encouraged and bulling behavior was frowned upon. You didn't  take advantage of others just because you could and threatening or forcing others to get your way was forbidden. Authority was respected and personal responsibility was expected.

Illegal or not... To me it's just not cool. Never will be.

And, didn't we hear Obama over a hot mic saying that he would be more flexible after he was re-elected to the then Russian President and to relay that message to Putin?

Why, yes we did. And still public whether there was a mic or not.

Far cry from having Flynn call the Russians to reassure them that the sanctions placed by the president at the time would come down when Trump takes office. Which is a crime. And his son asking the Russians for a back line of communication. The whitehouse meeting where he gave up intel and assured them he got rid of Comey. And then the  NRA taking Russian money...later finding a Russian operative under the wing of the NRA making the rounds with the conservatives and getting close enough to Trump to speak to him.

What the heck are you talking about?

Oh please! Rough, tough, talking Trump bragged the whole time about what the other Presidents did wrong in dealing with N. Korea and how this "Nobel Peace Prize" worthy meeting would be legendary.

He walked in, Kim told him no more exercizes, he dropped his pants.

"Tariff Man" did the same thing at the G20 came out of lunch with Xi talking a big game....as it turns out, the tariffs are off the table for 90 days unilaterally. The Chinese owned him at lunch and he can't find a way to back up without admitting he got owned. After 90 we probably will not hear about the Chinese tariff tax.

"Tariff Man" dropped his pants again.

Okay...let's see....did she personally threaten him that she was going to use those powers? Nope.

Did she point out that the house was taking power and had the ability to investigate him which is not news to anyone that they will?

She let him know where he stood in a non PC manner...

Does that same rule apply to a president blatantly blackmailing a whole party by threatening to pull out files if they proceeded against him? Or threatening his political opponent with prison?

No blackmail - pulling the same stunt, to a minor degree, that the party (if you can call them one) is very blatantly stating they will do when they "take control of the House", i.e. investigate the Hell out of him and anyone else who doesn't agree with them.

He has no political opponent - he is the president and there is no election forthcoming for that office.

So she represents a whole party but he does not? trump has promised that for years, that he would investigate Hillary and throw her in jail.

I will agree it was not the smartest thing to say yet I fail to understand how people continually defend trump and his off the wall statements yet one person on the left says something "trump like" and it is the worse thing in the world.

He has no political opponent - he is the president and there is no election forthcoming for that office.

trump has said that he is a candidate for 2020. He even put out a memo to federal employees that they cannot speak about him as he is a candidate.

The statement was "his political opponent".  As of yet, he has no political opponent.

The Repubs HAVE NOT broadcast that they are/were going to launch investigations into each and every action/activity that the Dems do, BUT, Nancy has made it quite clear that the "new" House will do just that to all of the Repubs actions/activities beginning in January, 2019.

And, yes, Nancy "may be" the new Dem leader, so her words, broadcast to all the national news outlets, kinda implies what the Dems are going to do in the future.

That is not saying they will go after all republicans.

Do you really think someone like Nunez can just walk away from the shit he pulled?

Probably that other douchebag car alarm guy went back to Cali with his tail hanging or he'd be a person of interest too.

So you want to play word games with Pelosi saying she's going after Trump as meaning she's going after all the Republicans because he is Republican?

I'll have to use that sometime and see how fast you jump on that.

True or not, I dont think that would be the deciding factor, Go against trump, pay the price, That's why some of the smart ones are stepping aside instead, I would imagine they hope to make a come back after trumps gone, When their career isn't as much in jeopardy.

trump isn't out to win the fight, he alienates his composition. His son probably isn't much different and has his dad's backing.

She'd be wise to concede for now.

Oh come on Lenny, there have been and are plenty of worse politicians and there have been at least 3 Democratic presidents that were proven much worse racists.  There are people still alive that voted for Lyndon Johnson, you know.

So far Trump has delivered the lowest unemployment for Black people in the nations history and is trying to push through a prison reform bill that will greatly help minorities (and that many Democrats voted against) and is somthing the Democrats could have/would have gotten done if they wanted to.  It obiously was not a priority for them.  History is still writing itself and we are still seeing who the racist party is.

Funny you hardly saw anything in the news about this bill, who will beneift from it, or how the vote went, wonder why/
