Ocasio-Cortez Threatens To Retaliate Against Trump Jr. Over Meme, Twitter Explodes With Accusations Of Ethics Violations
Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatened to use the powers of her elected office to retaliate against Donald Trump Jr. on Friday after the president's son posted a meme trolling her on his personal Instagram account.
"I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. "Please, keep it coming Jr - it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month."
"Have fun!" she concluded.
I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up.
Please, keep it coming Jr - it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month.
Have fun! https://t.co/oQ6MsdJYCk

Ocasio-Cortez's tweet came in response to this Instagram post from Trump Jr.:
Almost immediately, numerous political analysts, commentators, and pundits noted that Ocasio-Cortez's comments likely constituted an ethics violation.
"It's worth noting that the official House Ethics Manual explicitly prohibits the kind of threat that @Ocasio2018 just issued against @DonaldJTrumpJr for his refusal to support her political agenda," The Federalist's Sean Davis wrote on Twitter.
The House prohibition on the very kind of threat that @Ocasio2018 just made to @DonaldTrumpJr couldn't be clearer: lawmakers are "prohibited from threatening punitive action" against people/groups for not politically supporting the lawmaker. Ethics Committee should investigate. pic.twitter.com/NNIPp1vsyv

A source close to Donald Trump Jr. told The Daily Wire that they expect an ethics complaint will be filed.
Here are some of the most notable responses to Ocasio-Cortez's tweet:
So, um, if he trolls you on media, then you're going to use the power of the government to come after him? That's not fascist or anything. https://t.co/82hOJp39Ua
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) December 7, 2018
So you stalk @DonaldJTrumpJr on Twitter and are now threatening to abuse Congressional subpoena power for a personal vendetta if he continues to point out the stupid things you say? How very progressive. https://t.co/y83M83NH55

Something tells me that if this happened, the media coverage would look different than Politico's story here. https://t.co/wbxYpAl0Ed

My dislike for Jr is well-documented, but threatening a private citizen with a Congressional subpoena because he made a meme you don't like is one hell of a hot take. https://t.co/urxbAaSIbA
— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) December 7, 2018
Sorry, did this fool just threaten to use the power of government to punish a citizen because he posted a meme? https://t.co/gnlpGAAiKs
— Brandon Morse (@TheBrandonMorse) December 7, 2018
Did you just threaten to subpoena someone for criticizing you? As a lawyer and former prosecutor I find this deeply troubling. https://t.co/OqIpBkbsIS
— Kimberly Guilfoyle (@kimguilfoyle) December 7, 2018
. @Ocasio2018 , you come off as ignorant and uninformed.
Going to threaten all of with illegal retaliatory subpoenas because you’re too thin skinned to take that kind of criticism?
You are proving that you are far too emotional and immature to hold this seat. https://t.co/JHLnBBrhiT

OMG - well, you can see that she ain't gonna last long.
Threatening to use her "government powers" to slam someone, a civilian in fact, who doesn't think as she does in the political world??????
WOW - first potential Ethics violation darlin'.
Welcome to the real world.
yep she should know better. You dont say it out right, you dont say it in public and you need to be further up the chain.
She'll learn.
She did seem to try to make it sound like a joke, so she got that part down.
Poor junior. With the Mueller news of today, wingnut media complains about ethics violations. that's rich. I thought the right respected the politics of threats, revenge, and retaliation. Jr's net worth will be a case of ramen in just about a year.
Deflection is sad. This bimbo is on her way out.
Deflection is all they have
It's not us that run away when the facts arrive.
'Jr's net worth will be a case of ramen in just about a year.' LOVE IT! When do you think the former Faux 'News' bimbo will be dumping the Donald, Jr.? I wonder if she'll send dick pics like she has of former partners.
Isn't that what daddy's net worth is now? He's beholden to Russia and China and God knows who else.
Where is she going?
Right.
Good to have it in the open that you and yours feel it is okay for an elected government official to threaten another citizen with the power of government to stymie his free speech. When did the left stop being for the freedoms established in the constitution and the Bill of Rights?
the left will run her for president.
Typical lefty socialist.
Who's the right going to run now that Charles Manson is dead? Not sure how they will find a worse candidate than Trump, but I'm not betting against it. The lunatic right always seems to find a way to outdo themselves...
Deflection. The subject is the bartender's unethical actions.
Wait, the left ran a worse candidate than Trump. Her name is Hillary. She is gearing up for that 3.0 run now!
And even the Dems don"t want that.
Ocasio-Cortez is flake and proves it more every time she opens her socialist big mouth! Pretty sure we are looking at a one term wonder!
Or the next president.
Only if you repeal the constitution.
Why ? Our current president was elected and we still have it.
I can't help you if you don't even understand the legal requirements to be POTUS.
Like I ran her threw that list of regulations.
sorry didn't get that far.
In this context I saw no reason to, this is not reality in case ya hadn't noticed its a chat room full of bs.
Mine included.
Sorry I didn't realize details and facts made much difference from what i've seen of many posts on here.
No problem. We can all just admit you were wrong. Win win.
Yep those pesky regulations got in my way maybe we should do away with them.
I suggest a constitutional convention. Have at it!
It didn't take long for her corruption to match her ignorance.
And she's not even sitting in the office yet! Awesome way to start her new 'career' as a Congress-critter.
Anyone that defends her here should renounce their citizenship and move to some place where the Government IS allowed to govern your speech.
You go girl!
You mean for jumping right out and already breaking rules and regs - BEFORE she is even in office???
LOL ... It's not like that would be a first.
Remember trump, Flynn and russian sanctions and a little thing called the logon act ?
IMO: The top sets the example. When others follow I'm not surprised.
The Logon Act? Is that where you have to have a password that is 15 characters or more long, using 2 Capital letters, 2 lower case letters, 2 numbers, and 2 special characters when you log into an account? Sorry, but I couldn't resist the joke after going through lesson 6 out of the 19 lessons I need to finish before taking the Security+ exam.
Using that formula does make pretty strong passwords. And you can do all that into an easily remembered phrase or sentence.
Deflection again? Is that all liberals have? Is it too much to ask that you condemn wrongdoings from your fellow travelers?
Sorry as an independent I seemed to have learned too well from our president.
My apologies.
Yeah bad OC.. Bad.
I have that cert, luckily, my CE credits, I'm out until 2021 or so before I have to renew.
I wonder how many who voted for her are starting to think that maybe they made a mistake. If they aren't wondering, then I guess they deserve her.
I wonder how many who voted for her are starting to think that maybe they made a mistake.
Good question Buzz.
I also wonder how many folks who support president trump are starting to ask themselves the same question ?
And how the numbers compare ?
If they aren't wondering, then I guess they deserve her.
I really don’t feel that so much as I feel a lot of folks have sure been being deceived a lot these days and our politicians have become to radical. On both sides.
I'm not! Given the same circumstances and the same candidates I would vote for Trump just as I did in 2016
Your choice.
I hardly could bring myself to vote for either one once, Twice I'd think I was going insane !
Funny about this, since everything that everyone points to are things that are either done commonly by incoming Presidents-elect or happened YEARS before Trump received the GOP nomination. That is all Mueller has gotten and can prove. Everything else is just attempts to justify his investigation that was supposed to be about some sort of Russian meddling in our election but has turned into a full on Catholic Church-like Inquisition with the goal of burning Trump at the stake without any actual evidence of anything other than Trump beat Hillary when she should have been anointed.
Seriously I didn't know that all incoming presidents worked so closely with russia, no wonder America is such a mess.
Thanks for the info.
Mexico is lookin better and better, maybe Holland even.
Just exactly how did Trump "work closely" with Russia? What actions did he take and when did they occur? Looks like you've been watching CNN too much.
Nope dont even have cable any longer. Ask Mueller about trump.I'm sure he knows much more than I. He may even tell us before long without being asked.
Do you honestly believe that incoming Presidents don't try to form relationships with other countries before taking office? They are the CHIEF DIPLOMAT of the United States!
I seriously doubt many do to the extent trump seems to have with one particular country.
If any.
Steve - you're letting a lot of supposition get in the way of your thought processes.
As of yet, there has been NO PROOF that Trump colluded with the Russians. Manafort? Yes. Cohen? Yes. Lynch? Yes. But all done, not under the employ or auspices of Trump.
You could be right, trump may be the only one not guilty of anything out of all the people around him in the entire mess that he benefited the most from.
Hell all these people around him probably did all this just to make trump look bad.. Poor Donald.
Actually, no. I truly believe some of them "might" have colored outside the lines because they really believed it would be helpful. But, I also believe they did it under their own initiative and no one else's which is so hard for them to actually "prove".
While entirely possible. Stuff like General Flynn did I seriously doubt he came up with all on his own to tell russia what trump planed after trump took office. I doubt the president himself would approve of that crap. Flynn would probably be in jail today. lol
Also it's not like trump hasn't played close to the edge before, that's why he's constantly under the nose hairs of the IRS. and probably why the man's been sued so many damn times. and why he had a room full of lawyers on staff. But he is our president, Ya gotta give the man credit for that.
Did those presidents have a giveaway of a $50,000,000 penthouse planned to their diplomacy?
Did any of them send their lackey to tell Russia not to worry about the sanctions the present president slapped them with?
Did any of them drop their pants for "rocket man" as "Tariff Man" did?
Speaking of "Tariff Man"...it became obvious that the 90 day tariff suspension was unilateral...in other words, the Chinese lunch was Trump ala Chump. He caved on the Chinese when he was face to face....what a coward.
What is your source for this? I only heard a rumor about this, not actual facts.
What lackey? And, didn't we hear Obama over a hot mic saying that he would be more flexible after he was re-elected to the then Russian President and to relay that message to Putin?
What the heck are you talking about?
Now that's a great contribution, if this discussion was about the Presdient, but, alas, it's not.
Please, any business man or woman, that builds a business empire has full time people to deal with the IRS and the IRS have people whose career it is to look at the taxes of the business people and their corproations for violations. I am on the board of directors for several not for profits and our filings (990s) we end up taking extensions to complete the paperwork on to make sure it's right. Multiply that 500+ for profit businesses, under one umbrella. If there was cheating going on, the IRS would find it and it would be published.....and yet.....nothing, even under the Obama led IRS which made it their stock and trade to screw with organizations and peopel they didn't like.
As to being sued, anyone in corproate America knows what lawyers do. They sue. The bigger the corporation, the more lawsuits received. They even have insurance specifically there to combat those lawsuits.
I did not state trump had broken any laws. I stated trump has been known to play it close to the edge of rules and or laws before. I think he has, does and probably will till the day he dies.
I also will say to me that's not cool. Not by a long shot.
I was brought up to play by the rules, be courteous to others and respect those that came before and after me. Honesty, manners, morals and respect were encouraged and bulling behavior was frowned upon. You didn't take advantage of others just because you could and threatening or forcing others to get your way was forbidden. Authority was respected and personal responsibility was expected.
Illegal or not... To me it's just not cool. Never will be.
Flynn
Why, yes we did. And still public whether there was a mic or not.
Far cry from having Flynn call the Russians to reassure them that the sanctions placed by the president at the time would come down when Trump takes office. Which is a crime. And his son asking the Russians for a back line of communication. The whitehouse meeting where he gave up intel and assured them he got rid of Comey. And then the NRA taking Russian money...later finding a Russian operative under the wing of the NRA making the rounds with the conservatives and getting close enough to Trump to speak to him.
Oh please! Rough, tough, talking Trump bragged the whole time about what the other Presidents did wrong in dealing with N. Korea and how this "Nobel Peace Prize" worthy meeting would be legendary.
He walked in, Kim told him no more exercizes, he dropped his pants.
"Tariff Man" did the same thing at the G20 came out of lunch with Xi talking a big game....as it turns out, the tariffs are off the table for 90 days unilaterally. The Chinese owned him at lunch and he can't find a way to back up without admitting he got owned. After 90 we probably will not hear about the Chinese tariff tax.
"Tariff Man" dropped his pants again.
True I guess I think of more than one thing at once sometimes sorry. One thought leads to another. One question to another, what can I say. That's just how my mind works. Always analyzing... It kinda sucks .....lol
Thread is not about Trump. Please stay on topic.
When you elect a bartender to Congress who failed basic economics, you get what you deserve...
Now she's backpedalling on her support for Israel that helped her get elected in her district in NYC. Yeah, she's a plateful of stupid, with a healthy serving of hate, hold the integrity for dinner.
Whatever. Another offshoot from 'the biggest brain' family asserting its relevance.
Russian and Saudi money for the Trump Klan. The 'really smart' people have it covered, right?
DJTJR, chip off the ole' block. Where's Ivanka?
How 'bout discussing the topic.
Deflection is all they have. They may need a safe space after the socialist is censured.
Okay...let's see....did she personally threaten him that she was going to use those powers? Nope.
Did she point out that the house was taking power and had the ability to investigate him which is not news to anyone that they will?
She let him know where he stood in a non PC manner...
Does that same rule apply to a president blatantly blackmailing a whole party by threatening to pull out files if they proceeded against him? Or threatening his political opponent with prison?
Gee are you questioning the power of the president ?
LOL
Just do not peek behind the curtain. It's dark and ugly back there.
Did she?? Yes
Did she?? Yes
Did she?? Yes
No blackmail - pulling the same stunt, to a minor degree, that the party (if you can call them one) is very blatantly stating they will do when they "take control of the House", i.e. investigate the Hell out of him and anyone else who doesn't agree with them.
He has no political opponent - he is the president and there is no election forthcoming for that office.
So she represents a whole party but he does not? trump has promised that for years, that he would investigate Hillary and throw her in jail.
I will agree it was not the smartest thing to say yet I fail to understand how people continually defend trump and his off the wall statements yet one person on the left says something "trump like" and it is the worse thing in the world.
trump has said that he is a candidate for 2020. He even put out a memo to federal employees that they cannot speak about him as he is a candidate.
The statement was "his political opponent". As of yet, he has no political opponent.
The Repubs HAVE NOT broadcast that they are/were going to launch investigations into each and every action/activity that the Dems do, BUT, Nancy has made it quite clear that the "new" House will do just that to all of the Repubs actions/activities beginning in January, 2019.
And, yes, Nancy "may be" the new Dem leader, so her words, broadcast to all the national news outlets, kinda implies what the Dems are going to do in the future.
From what I have read, they were talking about investigations related to trump and his administration.
That is not saying they will go after all republicans.
Trump's administration is Republican - eh?
Do you really think someone like Nunez can just walk away from the shit he pulled?
Probably that other douchebag car alarm guy went back to Cali with his tail hanging or he'd be a person of interest too.
So you want to play word games with Pelosi saying she's going after Trump as meaning she's going after all the Republicans because he is Republican?
I'll have to use that sometime and see how fast you jump on that.
Part of being a Trump is the expectation of receiving pristinely ethical treatment, even though you deliver unethical behavior every waking moment.
Ocasio-Cortez will be in Washington DC. Don Jr will be in Terre Haute FCI....
Bassackwards JBB - bassackwards.
Not even in Congress, yet, Ocasio-Cortez surely does trigger the gop...
So you find nothing that makes you say ...WTF....from her ?
More from the 'Ends justify the means' left of 2018.
Anyoe with an once of common sense winces every time she opens her mouth.
That poor girl just can't open her mouth without her brains falling out.
Maybe she should just tweet her stupidity we're getting used to that. It's hardly noticed anymore even.
I think she may be trying to start a competition.
She'll lose !!
I think she is gaining on him and the race is still on....we'll see.
I think she is gaining on him and the race is still on....we'll see
lol
My moneys on experience.
Well she is young and has the ability to stay in office far longer. I'm putting my money on Cortez to win in the long run...she has penty of time and opportunity to gain more experience.
Have you seen her competition, her time may be limited.
I honestly hope you are right. She is obviously incapable, but look at how many times Maxine and a bunch of others I can think of have gotten elected and re elected.
True or not, I dont think that would be the deciding factor, Go against trump, pay the price, That's why some of the smart ones are stepping aside instead, I would imagine they hope to make a come back after trumps gone, When their career isn't as much in jeopardy.
trump isn't out to win the fight, he alienates his composition. His son probably isn't much different and has his dad's backing.
She'd be wise to concede for now.
Actually no. She is "trying" to set herself up in a power position and is starting to alienate a lot of folks with her brashness and lack of thought.
So, you want her to be the next Republican candidate for President?? Sorry pal, anyone who still enables Trump has forfeited their right to ever criticize any politician, for anything, ever again.
Oh come on Lenny, there have been and are plenty of worse politicians and there have been at least 3 Democratic presidents that were proven much worse racists. There are people still alive that voted for Lyndon Johnson, you know.
So far Trump has delivered the lowest unemployment for Black people in the nations history and is trying to push through a prison reform bill that will greatly help minorities (and that many Democrats voted against) and is somthing the Democrats could have/would have gotten done if they wanted to. It obiously was not a priority for them. History is still writing itself and we are still seeing who the racist party is.
Funny you hardly saw anything in the news about this bill, who will beneift from it, or how the vote went, wonder why/S
Nah. We can do as we want. Clearly the left cannot be allowed to be the ethics authority.
The real irony here is she pobably thought she COULD do it. I'm sure it somehow falls under one of her brances of governmet.
It sure as heck falls under Socialim!!!
Wow lenny - your reading comprehension has really gone out the window lately.
Where did anyone say she is a Republican? She has stated quite plainly that she is a Socialist after her uncle Bernie.
Well, she needs to rememebr she needs to be "inaugurated" first
Such a maroon.
She's been studying the "Obama and Hillary" tactics.
IRS, FBI, Secret Service.....etc.
She just forgot to keep it "Hush, Hush" !
I luv's her. She's a "Christmas" ……… Miracle !
