Deplorables Rising: Report Shows Trump Kept His Word To Those On Bottom

Deplorables Rising : During the 2016 campaign, President Trump promised blue-collar and low-wage service sector workers that he would improve their lot. A new labor-market study by a major business group suggests he's kept his word.
The study by the Conference Board, the New York-based global business organization and think tank, found that blue-collar workers aren't just doing better, they're now in short supply.
"Reversing a decades-long trend in the U.S. jobs market, companies are now having a more difficult time finding blue-collar workers than white-collar workers ," the Conferece Board said.
The report added that "growing blue-collar labor shortages will continue in 2019 and beyond."
"In certain instances, companies looking to attract enough blue-collar workers will have to continue increasing wages and, as a result, possibly experience diminished profits," according to Gad Levanon, the report's main author and chief economist at The Conference Board. "But the picture looks very different for the workers themselves. Compared to a few years ago, blue-collar workers are now much more likely to have a job they are satisfied with and experience rapid wage growth."
Blue-Collar Renaissance
Whew! Just a few years ago, blue-collar meant no future. Americans relentlessly pushed their kids to go to college, even if it meant six figures in education debt. Parents and students thought the wages and prestige of a white collar job far outweighed that of any work done with your hands. They stigmatized blue-collar labor as low class.
That may be ending, part due to demographics. The report notes that "the Baby Boom generation, a segment of the workforce that once held many blue-collar jobs, continues to retire in droves." Meanwhile, "since the mid-1990s millions of non-college graduates have left the labor force due to disability."
How will companies respond? They will increasingly have to automate, lower education requirements for some jobs, or even move some of their facilities to areas where lots of potential workers live.
These are great times for blue-collar workers, as a recent piece at the Breitbart.com site notes. You know, these are the ones that a certain presidential candidate referred to as "deplorables."
They also helped put Trump over the top.
While demographics helps boos, so does stiffer border enforcement: "While hiring undocumented workers has always been illegal, recent changes in enforcement may have reduced the number of available undocumented immigrant workers."
Fewer workers, higher wages, better living standards for those with blue-collar skills.
Winning With Trumponomics
Trumponomics has been a big winner for those once-deemed deplorables, people who mostly labor with their hands, augmented by their brains, but who went through hard times in recent decades.
As we noted in November, "Since Trump gained office, 4.4 million new jobs have been created. A big slice of that came from manufacturing. We were assured by any number of experts in recent years that manufacturing was "dead." But in October some 32,000 new manufacturing jobs were created, for a total of 446,000 since Trump took office."
That isn't all. Average hourly wages are now rising at 3.1%, the fastest since 1999. African-American, Asian, and Hispanic unemployment rates are at or near all-time lows. Household incomes are rising, buoyed by 2%-plus productivity gains.
These are not mirages. They're real. Yes, the stock market is topsy-turvy. That's in part due to trade concerns, but also due to the Fed's raising of rates.
A Real Recovery
But the recovery on the ground for average workers, especially those in transportation, manufacturing and even low-end health care jobs, is ongoing and real.
Many presidents have promised to help, but few have done so as successfully as Trump. In the coming months, with a new Democratic Congress, you can expect non-stop subpoenas, screaming about impeachment, and investigations.
Trump's critics on the left and the right will be mute about his economic success. But millions who now have good, well-paying jobs and stable lives will know: He kept his word.

at what price ? And who didn't exspect a bump up with all the hype of the great businessman taking over ? then trump and his people got there huge tax break, which is just short term for the middle class.
I've yet to see much I consider as actually making America any greater. We're still spending money we dont have and not much else has been resolved or fixed that I know of. As far as deregulations I think we have a while to see what that impact has on everything in years to come. The mexican wall has become a fence we pay for and the world now revolves around this mans daily tweets. how stable is that ? LOL
I also still dont see trump's "The Best of The Best" it seems the other way around actually.
He kept his word.....lol
So ?
I guess if all A greater America means to someone is a slightly bigger paycheck for awhile...
Yeah he did good. ..lol

We are slightly just over the two year mark, Much of what the president has done has yet to mature to its full effects on the country. We are really just getting over a long honeymoon phase of this mans presidency. Most investors expected what we've seen but Time will be the true judge of what this man has done to our country.
I would like to have rosy anticipation for our longer term positiveness for this man But I have many many reservations.
Time will tell us for sure. I can wait.
We deplorables are pleased with our President and the jobs, wage increases, and bonuses we got as a result of his actions. He has kept his promises and has lifted us up. We support his effort on our behalf regarding the border wall as well.
HA, That says more about the quality of his followers than the president.
IMO: People who allow enable and encourage people like this man who has now become president just to get their own way really aren't any better than the one they follow.
I was raised and live by certain standards. Those standards are some what flexible but not breakable. They are me. I don't lie, cheet, steal, take advantage of others, intimidate or threaten others or promise others I dont put others down or pit them against each other to get what I want either.
HA: Honestly one of the things I find disturbing about all of this is the people who have and are abandoning their own standards , making excuses for this man one after another just so maybe they can get what they want out of the government.
That makes me more sad than who is at top not really knowing WTF he's doing as he tries to rule America and the world to a degree single handedly and doesn't even seem want to listen to people who do know more about the different situations.
This man is certainly not an expert on everything yet he wants to listen to none of the experts who spent their life learning about the subjects he's deciding on what to do about.
Go right ahead and keep idolizing this Wizard of oz figue HA. I'll bet some day some way you request it.
Responsible people have standards that They dont themself break. Encouraging and giving power to a man like this for selfish reasonings would break that standard for me.
To each their own, and no you dont owe me your explanation of why trump is acceptable to you, I've read much of your reasoning already. Don't need no more.
Have a nice Christmas HA Hope you have a little white stuff I know we won't...lol 60 and rain here
I do mean snow....lol The real snow. .....
If everyone who supported the border wall was willing to help pay for the border wall ,we'd already have a border wall.
When WE wanted a man on the moon we put one there. I think WE could build a wall if WE really wanted it.
As far as I’m concerned we can keep the 25% of the government that is shutdown by Schumer and Pelosi shutdown closed all the way through the entire fiscal year next September 30 in order to get some significant funding for the type of border security we seek. And not ever spend the unspent amounts to the affected programs for the days/weeks/months it is shutdown. Use the shutdown to reduce the deficit.
The alternative was Hillary and that would have been horrible. I’d rather deal with some unpredictability from him every so often than to have to have put up with that witch the last and next two years. I hope that you too have a wonderful and blessed Christmas 🎄. Only a 0.5% chance of snow here but I’ll be in another part of Jefferson for most of Christmas with relatives in Roseville.
As long as you or you accountant doesn't have any questions about your federal taxes or you dont need a federal permit or you dont have children in public schools and you don't drink the water of breath the air that my be Ok but millions do need and want those services.
What’s closed?
Only “essential” government employees will report to work, so most federal agencies and departments are closed for now.
The IRS, for example, is expected to furlough 56% of its workers, which means most of the agency’s programs will be shuttered. That includes the agency’s helplines, which are turned off during the shutdown — a potential problem for taxpayers seeking guidance on massive changes this year.
Most employees at other departments and agencies, such as the Department of Education, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, are furloughed, which means that ongoing investigations and programs will be temporarily halted.
The Environmental Protection Agency remains open, but just for a limited time. EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt advised all employees to return to work next week, but said further guidance will be issued the shutdown extends beyond Jan. 26.
Not disagreeing with you there. But I think in the long run the narrisiastice mess we knew in hilldabeast would have been less destructive long term than the unpredictable megalomaniac we have sitting in power throwing around his bullish, aggressive, unpredictable, unstable power over basically the whole world today.
As I say and believe time will tell, It usually does.
Happy Holiday HA.
I need to get off here and get some stuff done, Have a good day.
around 2006 they paid for securing the border at the same time we agreed to amnesty...
they got amnesty and never secured the border.
who would have guessed it would turn out like that? me.
we will not be falling for that bs again
so yepp.. your statement above is not accurate. we paid... politicians did not do.
trump will get the border more secure than any past political liar who only wanted amnesty and open borders.
hint: it already is more secure. that brand new razor wire is not going away. and not even done yet.
open govt and open borders? never the two shall meet again.
First of all Cornhusker for Palin you used Investor again for your source, a very right wing source and very dubious factual content
Continued polling on the topic has shown the majority of the country does no want a wall.
Rather a heartless comment
The latest poll I have seen shows that the American people want the wall.
Meaning Don cannot not dispute facts in he article used so he will just bash the whole publication instead. Very weak Don.
Please link such a poll because every one I've seen, Gallup and Rasmussen, both show Americans overwhelmingly oppose a southern border wall. They also strongly disapprove of the job Trump is doing as President. Only a minority of apparently blind, deaf and dumb sycophants still believe otherwise.
Noticed you did not link to any polls supporting your statement.
Capitalist Forbes disagrees with you, unless they are now part of the liberal media,
We are also now in a bear market............
Wait! I thought liberals thought those are nothing but propaganda sites for the right. They keep telling me how unreliable they are . I guess it's different when their polls seem to support your side.
Yes we are and we are still ahead of where we were on Jan 20 of last year. I’m a part of the present sell off selling stuff I bought in 2008-9 and balancing it with purchases of this year to lock in prior gains in cash and have capital losses to offset earlier capital gains subject to taxation. I can’t afford another 2007-9 while fully in the market and I’m at about 50% cash right now and some in bonds and metals. So, when the market does resume upward as it will when the shutdown, rate increases, and the issues with China are resolved. Basically the markets are telling the federal reserve to stop raising interest rates or else....
Few deal with financial and money issues better than Investors Business Daily does. They are right on in what they wrote.
Until the democrats accept that the voters who voted for Trump wanting the wall are legitimate American citizens and voters and have as much right to participate in government and expect it to keep promises to them, then the shutdown can last as long as it takes. As soon as they give us some progress on building portions of the wall the government can reopen. As long as the democrats shut us out of the government is how long the 25% of the government that is shutdown can stay that way.
The attacking of conservative seeders sources rather than discussion the topic raised by the seeded article is sadly all to common.
The time has come to build that wall!
You make a great point. Well said.
What's really weird is that your link does not actually link to the study and there are NO dates to show when the supposed poll was taken. And guess what you find out when you research it? The original story was started by "townhall" that a local abcnews St Louis website references that also doesn't link the poll, and further down the rabbit hole you find out that the actual recent CBS poll found EXACTLY the opposite of what these conservative liars claim.
"CBS News polling from mid-November found that a majority -- 59 percent of Americans -- oppose building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border."
Maybe you ought to go to the horses mouth instead of the horses ass to get your information, you might find yourself far better informed.
Support for Trump border wall sets record, focus on impeachment plummets: poll.
" But millions who now have good, well-paying jobs and stable lives will know: He kept his word."
Just after Obama took office the unemployment hit it's peak at 10.2% (African American unemployment hit 16%)
Overall unemployment when Obama left office: 4.7% (African American unemployment down to 8.2%)
A drop of 5.5% under Obama (7.8% drop in African American unemployment)
Current unemployment rate: 3.9% (African American unemployment at 7.5%)
A drop of 0.8% under Trump. (0.7% drop in African American unemployment)
We added 2.58 million jobs in 2014 , 2.87 million jobs in 2015 and 2.45 million jobs in 2016 but only 2.36 million in 2017 and 2.37 million in 2018, both lower than the last three years of Obama's presidency.
I really can't comprehend how anyone is giving Donald Trump any credit, he's a fraud and his accomplishments are nothing but taking over for someone else and slapping his name on it like he does everything, his only skill is branding.
So, what type of jobs did Obama's economy produce? "Do you want fries with that"; and low end/paying service industry jobs are considered good when a Democrat produces them- but when a Republican does, hold onto your hats for the backlash.
Also, as you so blithely pointed out- Obama took over during a severe recession- of course his drop #'s are going to be higher. They had no where to go but down. The fact they are still decreasing under Trump at the rate they are is news.
Maybe you want to choke on this information which was reported repeatedly. Obama oversaw the slowest recovery from recession ever, period.
I can't stand Trump; but please stop giving credit to Obama where none is due.
Trump has created much better and higher paying jobs than Obama has.
The numbers speak for themselves and no, the nearly 8 million jobs added in the last 3 years of Obamas terms obviously weren't all burger flipping jobs. The one getting undeserved credit is Donald Trump stepping in after the cake was baked and adding some icing to the top and claiming he's the master baker.
Never happen Tessylo
Well, when faced with the facts of more jobs under Obama their low functioning bigoted brains can only conclude they must have been bad jobs under Obama, but good jobs under Trump, regardless of the facts. They're brains aren't wired to accept any positive information in the same sentence as the name "Obama" since it's already full of prejudiced visuals and words like "uppity" "Kenya" "black panthers" "reverse racism" "Obummer" and "Obama Bin Ladin". They can't get the ads, memes and anti-Obama rhetoric they've been fed by Russian media for the last several years out of their heads because it preached directly to their once secret sense of superiority and their deep seated long ingrained prejudice and xenophobia. It's why they immediately clung to the ridiculous lie that Obama wasn't born in the US, it was the music that their racist ears wanted to hear because it meant they could openly oppose him on the technicality that they didn't believe him legitimate instead of just having to openly oppose him for being black.
Trump has done more in two years to help the working and middle class in America than obama did in eight years.
Such a complete bullshit comment doesn't even warrant a response other than to say the facts completely dispute your nearly comical false statement. If you had facts to support your statement you'd have listed them as I did and point to the ACTUAL number of jobs and financial growth and drop in unemployment as I did, but you don't so all you can do is rhetorically disagree.
Gawd, what a load of complete crap.
Meantime, the market is in freefall, falling as much as the Great Recession last week. And continuing today. And the Trumpublican shutdown is costing MILLIONS every day on top of normal spending. Why is Mexico not paying for the damn wall again? And why are you all fine with that?
Trump and gop so damn incompetent this is the THIRD TRUMP SHUTDOWN IN A 2018!
You are so full of it, trump has only enriched the rich and fucked the rest of us with his bogus tax cut, the markets are in a tail spin, i've already lost over $12,000 in my 401k since the end of September, I have not checked my deceased husband's 401k for what i've lost there. Trump is a fucking disaster and he's taking America down with him. Time to take the blinders off.
Prove it
'Deplorables rising?' Probably. Trumpism is creating a 'bigger bottom, bigly.'
Right wing is corrupt.
The headline really should have read:
Deplorables Rising: Report Shows Trump Kept His Word To Those Up His Bottom
In politics, however, not all places are created equal. Calculations by The Economist suggest that the counties that voted for Mr Trump in November 2016 have experienced larger manufacturing job gains since 2011. They have also tended to see the largest gains since the election. In these places, manufacturing’s share of overall employment has risen relative to the rest of the country. Far from dying off, manufacturing in America appears to be humming the president’s tune.
