Someone's Raised Nearly $1M on GoFundMe to Build Trump's Border Wall, Because of Course

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

According to math submitted by one Post reader and repeated, uncredited, on Kolfage’s GoFundMe page: “If the 63 million people who voted for Trump each pledge $80, we can build the wall.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing shows your allegiance to President Donald Trump quite like handing over your own cold hard cash to help him build his widely loathed, near-impossible campaign promises.

That’s what more than 13,000 people have done over the last two days, donating more than $800,000 to a GoFundMe campaign launched by Brian Kolfage, a veteran and triple amputee, which is well-timed given the news that Trump isn’t likely to get the government to fund his wall anytime soon.

“As a veteran who has given so much, 3 limbs, I feel deeply invested to this nation to ensure future generations have everything we have today,” Kolfage wrote on the campaign page . “Too many Americans have been murdered by illegal aliens and too many illegals are taking advantage of the United States taxpayers with no means of ever contributing to our society.”

Kolfage’s campaign launched two days after the New York Post ’s Michael Goodwin asked the question, “ Why hasn’t someone made a GoFundMe for Trump’s wall?

“We have been talking to a few politicians on the best way to achieve a handoff. It’s been done before, in 2012 a private donor gave the US Govt $7.5M to fund half of the Washington Monument earthquake damage. Its common sense, since when do we tell Americans where they can spend their money?” Kolfage said. “If they want to give money to something, whether a charity, friend or even a homeless person, do we stop them? If people want to give the U.S. Government money to fund an infrastructure project, why say no?”

The campaign feels scammy at face value—rallying Trump voters for a multi-billion government project sounds unfeasible at best—so Kolfage put his personal email on the page, so donors can “contact me and hold me accountable.” And should he not meet his $1 billion goal—which he says on the page is currently the maximum the site allows, although he’s “working to get it raised”—donations will be refunded.

It's been a long strange trip from "Who will pay for it? MEXICO !"  to "if every Trump voter sends in $80 we can raise enough money to build the wall"

I love this idea.  Come on Trump supporters.  Since you're giving Trump a pass on his promise to make Mexico pay for the wall it's time for you to put up or shut up.

Send your donation today!

It says right on the GFM page that if they don't reach the goal or even come substantially close, everyone gets their money back the goal is set at 1 billion, and a legal document is being drafted that the funds can only be used for the wall, nothing else, sounds like a win-win. as of 8am my time its up to 11.7 million , with most donations being small, that tells me people actually do want the wall contrary to what some think or say.

There is never going to be a wall, with the one exception that if every Trump voter sends in their 80 dollars. Good luck with that.

We are in the last breaths of the GOP controlled Congress and no one has any interest in this wall. After the New Year the chance is gone. The ONLY way Democrats would agree to this is if Trump and the GOP made concessions on other parts of immigration reform.

In other news today North Korea Rocket Man says he's not giving up his nukes.

Another Trump "achievement" bites the dust.  He's down to the tax break for the rich and the judges as his two accomplishments. The tax break can be overturned the next time the Democrats take control of the government and judges get old and die. Judges are temporary.

The country is changing. Trumpism has been a big dud.

The irony of this is that Conservatives will spend their own money to build something that the left kept promising but never delivering on since Reagan's amnesty: Tangible Border Security.  Liberals, on the other hand, will prefer to use other people's money to line their own pockets in.  You do realize $20 billion is just a rounding error for the Defense budget?  So, again, why are Democrats so hell bent against spending this money to add to the defenses of our country?  How many people here remember the greatest walls of the world?  I can think of two and both were effective when properly manned: Hadrian's Wall in between modern England and Scotland and the Great Wall of China.  If Rome had built walls along all of its borders, it might not have been sacked and the Western Roman Empire might have lasted long beyond 476 AD and the Byzantine Empire might have lasted beyond 1453 AD.

Those donating to the wall are not interested whether Mexico will pay for the wall or not.  They are sick and tired of the Republicans and Democrats promising to fix the immigration system and increasing border security since the 1980s and doing nothing but bemoaning the situation.  Trump proposed an actual action during his 2016 campaign and has tried time after time every year since being inaugurated to get the wall built.  However, Ryan and McConnell along with the rest of the House and Senate leadership kept stabbing Trump in the back and promising to get to it eventually.  Right now, the people who support Trump are fed up and are saying "If you won't do it, WE WILL."

The fact you are resorting to the "Mexico needs to pay for it first." argument is really telling.  It indicates that you don't want to keep the USA being prosperous as every country that allowed unimpeded immigration ended up ceasing to exist and with it the lifestyles of ALL the people in those countries ended up taking a massive downturn and in ALL cases their security ceased to exist and the violent immigrants ended up sacking not only the capitals of those countries; but also almost all of the major towns and villages as well.  Or, did you not study the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the various Chinese Dynasties and Empires, and the Mongols and their various Hordes after Ghengis Khan.

The wall is an ignorant idea and it doesn't address how most of the immigrants who are in the US illegally come to the US. Most of them come to the US legally and overstay their Visas.   I have to wonder what is your problem with immigrants coming to the US? Is it based on xenophobia or is it the lie that they are taking your job?  From my perspective it seems that conservatives need someone to hate and blame for their problems, and Trump has served up immigrants as a target for their hatred.

The wall is an ignorant idea

Why? Most people I know have walls around their property to inhibit people from just walking through. They seem to be very effective and popular.

Most of them come to the US legally and overstay their Visas.

It's actually around half. In some years, some measures might make it a little more than half, others a little less.

MOSTLY TRUE: Visa overstays account for ‘half’ of all people in the country illegally

She said a 2017 study by the Center for Migration Studies, a nonpartisan think tank, is more helpful. That report estimated visa overstays in 2014 accounted for 42 percent of the total undocumented population , or about 4.5 million people.

A little logic and math tells us that 58% of the undocumented population is not visa overstays, and using their numbers that would amount to 6.2 million people who simply entered illegally.

The wall is not intended as the solution for visa overstays. No one has ever claimed it was. It's obviously intended for the millions of others who, over the years, have just walked over the border. A child could see that. You bringing up visas is just an irrelevant red herring. Visa overstays is not a reason to not build a wall.

I have to wonder what is your problem with immigrants coming to the US?

Strawman. I never said I was against immigration. Typical disingenuous tactic from the open borders crowd. I am against unregulated, uncontrolled, illegal immigration. So you don't have to "wonder" about any such thing as me having a problem with immigrants. But you already knew that.

it seems that conservatives need

Securing a country's borders from illegal immigration is not a conservative or liberal position. Just so you understand that, here are some famous liberals advocating for control of the border and speaking about the evils of illegal immigration. After you watch these videos, I'll ask again. Why is the wall stupid? Let's have a legitimate objection instead of strawmen, red herrings, and character assassinations.

So, what's so wrong about enforcing our borders, with a barrier where necessary? After all, these liberals support it. Why can't you?

I only see fences (walls) in cities.

The country side I grew up in was mainly fenced off. The ranches and farms fields both had fences around them

And if there was more people walking around the area way out in the country, the private yards in the country would be fenced as well.   Some already are.

Man has been fencing in land for centuries.  Nothing new because of cities.

The problem with a Wall or fence running the length of our border is length  and the cost of that length. NO one wants to pay that much, Not us and certainly not our neighbors.

I think it depends on what part of the country you live in, too. Here in Southern California, every house in the city or suburbs has a fence or wall around their back yard. But I know there are neighborhoods around the country where you can just walk around in other people's yards.

The Maginot line was extremely effective, where it was originally built.  The extensions, on the other hand, were not effective at all.  The reason the Maginot line was, in the end, a waste, was because it only was built on the actual border with Germany and the Germans ended up going through the Netherlands and Belgium.  And, the Maginot line along the border with Belgium was essentially a line only on paper.

Ha. Found this gem,

Founder of viral fundraiser for Trump's border wall has questionable news past

The fundraising page doesn't mention Kolfage's most recent business venture, a Facebook page titled  Right Wing News  and a ring of affiliate sites that frequently trafficked in conspiracy theories. In October, Right Wing News was pulled down by Facebook in  a sweep of more than 559 pages  that the company said were "using fake accounts… to drive traffic to their websites" or "were ad farms using Facebook to mislead people into thinking that they were forums for legitimate political debate."

Days after the pulldown, Kolfage created a group called Fight4FreeSpeech, which accepts donations, and is also not referenced in the GoFundMe.

Kolfage told NBC News he didn't want to mention Right Wing News or Fight4FreeSpeech because he "didn't want it to be a distraction."

"I don't wanna mix the two. That shouldn't be the focus. My personal issues have nothing to do with building the wall," he said.

Kolfage also ran Right Wing News' shuttered affiliate sites including VeteranAF and FreedomDaily, which pushed false conspiracy theories, like ones claiming Hillary Clinton was secretly hiding deadly illnesses and fake voter fraud stories days before the 2016 election.

Those sites stopped operating in March, replaced with a string of text that "This Website Has Gone Out of Business."

The sites often trafficked in false, inflammatory and racist content, including headlines like "Obnoxious Black People Lose Their Minds When Victoria Secret Models Say This 1 Word On Live Video" and "Trump Just Released Embarrassing Vids Of Obama's Muslim Friends That He Never Wanted."

FreedomDaily and VeteranAF frequently ran identical stories by users with different bylines. Several stories on FreedomDaily   by "Liberty Belle" also appear on "VeteranAF" under the byline "Lady Liberty."

Seems this man, that once filmed a campaign add for Gabby Giffords has turned into a fake news and right wing conspiracy peddler.

Seems kind of silly though, they're all het up about a million or two, but its gonna take a whole lot more then a few million, and a whole lot more then 5 billion. If trump has a "friend" in construction there won't be any other bids, but it will cost a whole lot more then that and probably melt in the rain to boot.

instead of trying to destroy it like you and your leftist friends

More lies stacked on lies stuffed with falsehoods and coated in bullshit. The "left" is for strong EFFECTIVE border security and are against wasting billions of tax payer money on an ineffective wall that's already a proven failure. If we spent $1.6 billion on drone enforcement and tracking equipment we'd have far better security than a boondoggle wall in the middle of a desert where there will be 200 to 300 miles stretches that currently see virtually ZERO border crossings because the crossing is so dangerous in those places. So spending a billion dollars to stop the 2 illegal immigrants who try to cross that stretch of dry dusty death works out to $500 million each, that makes a lot of financial sense, right? /s

I'm all for replacing or erecting new barriers in areas that border security say it would make sense like the existing fencing we already have. And what's the difference between the border fencing that costs one tenth that of a wall and an actual wall? About two hours of extra work for whoever is trying to breach the barrier. Since it takes many hours, sometimes days to respond to a wall breach notification, that just means we'd be spending 10 times more for a wall that didn't protect us any better than the fence, a minor inconvenience to someone who really wants to cross the border.

36% of Democrats support Open Borders

“Democrats on the far left appear to be taking their rhetoric against border security, including calls for the abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, one step too far. Over the past two months, Democratic National Committee deputy chairman and congressman Keith Ellison has passionately and persistently advocated his position that national borders, specifically the southern border, create “an injustice.”

In a recent interview, Ellison suggested that because corporations “can go back and forth across the border seeking out the lowest wages,” regular people should be able to “go back and forth across the border seeking out the highest wages.” Not only is this statement in itself completely detached from reality, but it seems to suggest that if we cannot have wide open borders, then we must not have free trade at all. These remarks come just weeks after Ellison wore a shirt that read “yo no creo en fronteras,” which in English translates into “I do not believe in borders.”

Troublingly, these views on immigration are not far out of line with the Democratic Party as a whole. In fact, a Harvard Harris poll last month states that a striking 36 percent of Democrats support “basically open borders.”

There was some investigative research done on the man behind this go fund project.  It appears he has created several web pages that peddle conspiracy theories and other questionable lies.  This seems to be his livelihood.  He's another con artist.

36% of Democrats support Open Borders

So a minority since 2/3rds of Democrats oppose "open borders". And it's not that even that 36% support "open border", as it says "basically open borders" which is just some pointless half wit conservatives opinion. In the same Harvardharris poll 49% of Democrats feel border security is inadequate. And the 36% of respondents this sad conservative hit piece is using to malign Democrats asks them "Do you think we should have basically open borders?" to which 36% said yeah, we want "basically open borders". Can you get any less specific? Besides, I'd much rather have 36% of the party for "basically open borders" than the 40% of Republicans who think Russia is a friend and ally.

yes I saw that when it was posted on the thread, For me what is more telling is the fact that some people are actually willing to put their money where their mouth is to get it done even if the issue becomes a political football to be kicked around. besides , earlier in the thread didn't someone challenge those in favor of the wall to put their money where their mouth was? I simply did that with what I donated  in the interest of border security , and not for political reasons.

Yes, you are correct.  I absolutely did encourage all trump supporters to fund the 17th century wall that Trump promised Mexico would pay for.

I do NOT want to put my hard earned money towards something I was promised I wouldn't have to pay for.

I'm trying to save for my retirement and my health insurance that the GOP and Trump are trying to take from me.  I cannot afford to pay for Trump's wall.

You might have specified , but you didn't limit it to tRump supporters I took it if someone thought it was a valid idea they should , and I think its valid so I did , and I do not think  it will solve the issue , but is simply a deterrent , that used with other measures could work to help with the issue it addresses.

My property is fenced , and has 4 access points , 2 vehicle , 1 pedestrian , and one that's larger than a pedestrian entry but too small for a vehicle but large enough to move livestock through. and all those access points do is funnel the traffic onto the property to where I desired and where I could keep tabs on the comings and goings . and that is pretty much how I view the Wall, it is simply a deterrence that will funnel traffic where it is desired.

I thought when he said mexico would pay for the wall he was being foolish ( might be one of the reasons I didn't vote for him) but he never did state how or when they would pay for it either . I can see it being paid for by the reduction of funds being sent back to mexico by those working illegally, I understand that makes up a big chunk of the economy. he also didn't say how long it would take , it could take decades .

In any event it would and seems it will take the up front money from those that think the idea of a wall is valid to provide it.

Will those that choose to donate be promised an engraved plaque to be affixed to the wall in appreciation for their patriotism?

No, that's extra.  Please make checks payable to Trump Hush Money Slush fund.

Senator Cruz early in the year offered a bill that was supported by House Republicans to have the $14 billion seized from El Chapo to pay for the wall. The Establishment Republicans and the Democrats refuse to support this very logical bill.

That was a welcome chuckle , let them knock themselves out , just a thought though , they will need a ladder on both sides of the wall in some cases . and I see it is creeping up on 1 million raised .

According to NBC as of 5 o clock central, there are not even 50 votes ( let alone the needed 60) in the United States Senate for funding for a wall.

Trump is fucked.

Everyone is just waiting to see what trump will say next.

why would you think this is the end of something when it has only begun?

we all know a shutdown is coming.  no news here

Everyone is just waiting to see what trump will say next.

he already said a shut down is highly likely... what more ya want?

if they want to re-open the govt? they will be forced to fund the wall or go fish.

To all the progressive leftist liberals and others that are so anti-wall and pro illegal immigrant, it really amuses me to wonder if you lived mere blocks from the AZ/Mexico border like I do. Would you sing a different tune if you had illegals running the alleys behind your house 365 nights a year like I do and have had your house broken into by them like I have? I'm willing to bet you would, but I don't expect you to admit it....
