Trump Sabotaging the POST OFFICE
"Of course, I am! It is what I do. Destroy SHAT! - Donald J. Trump

196

Notice, that there is NO LICENSE PLATE on the back of that truck, as required by state law. These removals are taking place in the "wee hours of the A.M."

The culprit has no insignias on his clothing to indicate that he is employed by the US POST OFFICE!

196 T-Rump and his crooked, Mafia-connected "cronies" want to make Trump PRESIDENT FOR LIFE!

What in Hades is it going to take to STOP this "accused CHILD RAPIST" from destroying our democracy?

Gentle posters, please note - the above is NOT, I repeat, is NOT satire.

It is funny as "shat" in a gallows humor sort of way.

Nice work.

Of course the classy college I went to would express this in a more subtle way:

"Repulse them, repulse them, make them relinquish the spheroid . "

Adam, in college I had a stuffy friend that I didn't like but he was obviously rich. His name is Wintrope Merridethe, the III, and, wore an ashraf about his neck.

I so envied "Winny" that I cozied up to him, despite being instantly repelled. He traveled every week to Allentown, P.A., returning just in the "nick of time" on Mondays.

That night, and for days afterward, Wintrope, The III would regale me with tails of his opulent life:  the country club, yachts, cotillons, and, an inside look at the Life of The Rich & Pompous!

Turned out, Wintrope was full of Bull Chips & everyone in Penn Hall, our dormitory, knew it, but, me.

I was so thrilled that I knew a rich person, writing home to my impoverished friends about his fake adventures and pumping myself up.

It was crushing when I discover the truth. One's delusions, when pierced, traumatize the easily led.

That is why we must let Trumpers down gently, or, NOT!

So, Trump is utilizing the same type of politics as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.  Why isn't junk-mail voting being contracted out to FedEx, UPS, Amazon, or some other private sector political donor?

The argument is being made that only the US Postal Service can handle vote by mail.  The Postal Service is a critical Federal service.  Maybe it's time for Democrats to stop treating the Postal Service as a quasi-private business that must compete with Democrat's political donors.

They why can't those competitors handle vote by mail?

Congress provides additional funding and authorization to hire people for the Census.  But Congress can't do that for vote by mail?

Wouldn't requiring voters to pay postage to mail a ballot be the same as a poll tax?  Who's going to pay for the service?

Trump says he is refusing additional post office funding as part of his fight against mail-in voting

PUBLISHED THU, AUG 13 2020 2:55 PM EDT UPDATED THU, AUG 13 2020 7:29 PM EDT
KEY POINTS
  • Trump said that negotiations on additional coronavirus relief funding are at an impasse in part because Democrats want to give billions of dollars to support the U.S. Postal Service and mail-in voting efforts.
  • “If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money, that means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it,” Trump said.
  • Democrats, meanwhile, worry that a slew of recent operational changes made by the new postmaster general, Louis DeJoy, could affect the 2020 election

Yeah, Trump is employing the same style of politics that has been utilized by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.  The Postal Service has become a squeaky wheel that needs some grease.

Democrats have made junk-mail voting a political priority.  But Democrats haven't contributed funding and haven't done any planning.  The House hasn't passed any legislation to support vote by mail.  Democrats haven't included vote by mail in their response to the pandemic.  Democrats have been using the Postal Service as a ready-made scapegoat.  Of course junk-mail voting won't work because Democrats don't want junk-mail voting to work; even though Democrats claim that as a political priority.

Vote by mail has a history of a higher percentage of rejected ballots than in-person voting at polling stations.  And it's not possible to replace a spoiled ballot.  Paying postage to mail a ballot is also a type of poll tax.  Mailing ballots is the least of the problems that will be encountered with junk-mail voting.

From the linked article (emphasis mine):

"Democrats, as part of their $3 trillion Covid-19 relief proposal, want to include a $25 billion infusion for the Post Office, which has hemorrhaged billions of dollars during the pandemic. That stimulus package also included $3.6 billion for election funding, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said is partly to ensure there are enough polling places and that they are spaced out and open long enough to mitigate the spread of the virus."

You know, Democrats could provide funding to the states (who are responsible for conducting elections).  That's what the $3.6 billion allocation for voting actually does.  How the states spend the money is their business.

The $25 billion infusion for the Postal Service is to replace lost revenue; not to fund junk-mail voting.  Democrats have to make the case that the Postal Service is critical for vote by mail and, by extension, is a critical Federal service.  The private sector can't handle vote by mail.

The pandemic has caused a huge loss of postal revenue.  The Postal Service is required to be self-sustaining; just as is Social Security.  However, the Postal Service has been prohibited from competing with the private sector; just as with Social Security.

When a private sector business doesn't have sufficient revenue then the business begins closing facilities, laying off workers, and limiting the services that are provided.  The Postal Service has to do the same thing because it is dependent upon postal revenue to sustain itself.

Democrats aren't addressing the underlying problem.  Democrats are only kicking the can to avoid the problems encountered by the Postal Service just as Democrats have been kicking the can to avoid addressing the problems with Social Security.  A Green New Deal isn't going to fix those problems.

Why is there a need for another expert panel to engage in political pandering?

The simple fix is to recognize that the Postal Service is a critical Federal service and treat the Postal Service as a Federal agency.  The EPA is not required to be self-sustaining even though the EPA collects revenue through permits and fines.  The FCC is not required to be self-sustaining even though it sells the airwaves to private sector profiteers.

Democrats need to shed their infatuation with Reagan's small government lunacy.  The Postal Service is mentioned as an appropriate Federal service in the Constitution.  Is Democrats' hatred of the Constitution getting in the way?

The POINT is that approximately 30 million Absentee Ballots were counted in the 2018 election, according to Steve Kornacki, MSNBC, election reporter, who every year, breaks down the data as it comes into the "LIVE" BROADCAST.

Research confirms that ONLY O.O3 % contaminated. Compare that to Florida tossing out 800,000 ballots from predominately Democrat precincts.

There is plenty wrong with the US Post Office starting with all that it has promised it's employees. It has a fantasy Pension system which invests in nothing. A 2006 law, among other things, required that the Postal Service prefund retiree medical benefits. The Postal Service has defaulted on those payments and owes more than $50 billion. The Post Office is also restricted from raising prices too severely on first class mail.
Those are just some of the problems facing the PO, however the question of whether the PO can deliver the massive increase in volume of mail which a universal national mail in ballot drive entails might only be secondary to the real question of whether election official are going to be able to handle the avalanche of ballots which have to be verified as well as processed?

One can only imagine what it would be like if days after the election we still didn't know who the winner was?

The private sector is incapable of handling vote by mail.  That's abundantly clear.  The Postal Service has been forced to compete with the private sector who only cherry picks the low hanging fruit.

Maybe Reagan's idea of running the government like a business was really very stupid, after all.  Maybe Clinton's priority to transform government into a contract service wasn't about serving the public, after all.

Junk-mail voting has become Democrat's border wall.  Trump is blocking vote by mail the same way Democrats blocked the border wall.  Interesting how that works.

Tammy Patrick, a former election official in Arizona and now a current senior adviser with Democracy Fund, told   NPR in 2018   that government officials should resist the urge to write off a voting method that can make voting more accessible (and in the current case safer) for thousands of people because of a few isolated incidents.

"I think it's something we need to resist as a reaction," Patrick said. "If and when a bank gets robbed or a car gets stolen, we don't stop using banks or cars. We enforce the laws we have in place."

Link

Widespread calls to conduct the 2020 elections by mail, to protect voters from COVID-19 exposure, are being met with charges that the system inevitably would lead to massive voter fraud. This is simply not true.

Vote fraud in the United States is exceedingly rare, with mailed ballots and otherwise. Over the past 20 years, about 250 million votes have been cast by a mail ballot nationally. The Heritage Foundation maintains an   online database of election fraud   cases in the United States and reports that there have been just over 1,200 cases of vote fraud of all forms, resulting in 1,100 criminal convictions, over the past 20 years. Of these, 204 involved the fraudulent use of absentee ballots; 143 resulted in criminal convictions.

Let’s put that data in perspective.

One hundred forty-three cases of fraud using mailed ballots over the course of 20 years comes out to seven to eight cases per year, nationally. It also means that across the 50 states, there has been an average of three cases per state over the 20-year span. That is just one case per state every six or seven years. We are talking about an occurrence that translates to about 0.00006 percent of total votes cast.

Oregon is the state that started mailing ballots to all voters in 2000 and has worked diligently to put in place stringent security measures, as well as strict punishments for those who would tamper with a mailed ballot. For that state, the following numbers apply: With well over 50 million ballots cast, there have been only two fraud cases verifiable enough to result in convictions for mail-ballot fraud in 20 years. That is 0.000004 percent — about five times less likely than getting hit by lightning in the United States.

This hardly seems like a world in which “ thousands and thousands of people   [are] sitting in somebody’s living room, signing ballots all over the place.”

Nonsense.

One must request the ballot/absentee or otherwise every year.

They may send out ballot requests automatically based on the rolls.  If it isn't returned, end of the issue,

if it is returned it is checked for exact signatures matching those on file, dates & postmarks.

No Vic, I dislike disagreeing with my Eldred, but, Dems want a safe, fair election that is not hampered by a corrupt fake POTUS, installed with the help of Putin, or a Trump donor, who has a CONFLICT OF INTEREST, and heavily invested in alternate mail competitors.

Dismantling the Federal Post Office by a Post Master who is temporarily installed, and "hot" to disrupt the Mail Service, prior to the 2020 election.

With Trump, it is never about policy, it is always about what is in it for "the Donald."

The issue is Trump!

First of all, Eldred is a street in Lexington MA. (the best place I ever lived)
Second, what democrats always seem to want is any way that someone can vote without physically going out and voting. Mail in voting should be reserved for those who can't get to the polls, like the elderly or military personnel. The big problem with it is verifying the person voting is who they are supposed to be.

Not true. As for moving Post Office boxes around - it is normal. The PO has been doing it for years. Who started that hoax?  Susan Rice?

It does NOT require the Post Master General to removed post office boxes on street corners and jerking out MAIL SORTING MACHINE in an obvious attempt to "slow down" the mail so that millions of voters ballots become invalid.

This is a deliberate attempt by the CAREER CRIMINAL, falsely installed in the White House via the assistance of a foreign KGB agent, Putin.

I agree, Vic Eldred , but, this close to an ELECTION, and, in the midst of a still-raging World-Wide Pandemic, this is not the time to start revamping the POST OFFICE.

Like most things in government, it needs updating, a makeover, and, possibly a refined MISSION.

The last Monkey we want heading up this important over-haul is that Wrecking Ball in the White House, who drives everything he touches into the ground.

Assemble the smartest folks in the World & a few from the USA (maybe you) to form a TASK FORCE, develop a Plan of Action, submit it to Congress to Vote on.

Oh, and, BTW, imprison Louis De Blow-Hole, the Billionaire Trump appointee who has invested hundreds of millions in competing for corporate mail carriers via his stock buys.

He has a real "CONFLICT OF INTEREST," and is only serving in a temporary role.

Every time the "Accused Child Rapist" takes an action, it is always for his benefit.

Conspiracies have taken over the left.  The idea that the post office could handle a national election without significant issues was laughed and scoffed at by the Democrats just a few weeks ago. Even though any one whose dealt with the post office knows how many problems it had. Then reality slapped them in the face with numerous debacles in state primaries. Suddenly it’s a conspiracy!  The post office operating inefficiently has it has for decades is suddenly trumps fault!

It is funny to watch them gather in large groups to protest voting in person though
