Trump’s ‘Law and Order’ Message Not Resonating

September 2, 2020

The new  Fox News poll  in Wisconsin — conducted entirely after the unrest in Kenosha — suggests President Trump’s law and order stance isn’t working: Trump trails Biden by 5 percentage points in the state on the issue of “policing and criminal justice.”

The violent protests in Kenosha last month, sparked by the police shooting of Jacob Blake, coincided with a decisive shift in  Donald Trump ’s campaign to focus on law and order. The president used the rubble-strewn streets as a backdrop for his new message: Without him, chaos would reign, he argued.

And yet, even after weeks of focused messaging, after the violent scenes in Kenosha, and his marquee visit, there is little sign that the message is breaking through in suburbia.

“There’s nothing he can do to fix the problem,” says Nicole O’Doniel, a 35-year-old mother who grew up in Pleasant Prairie and recently purchased a home there.

“I can’t look at his message and think it’s going to be positive after the last four years. I don’t want to repeat that. I’d rather give somebody else a chance. You know, I can’t see it being worse.”

Morning Joe reported today that polls taken AFTER the Republic convention and after Trump began his "law and order" splurge show no gains for Trump and Biden maintains a healthy lead just as before.

It seems the American people are rejecting his ceaseless fear mongering.

Wait a sec, chaos is reigning now, and he's the one in charge.

Lol, good god, you give the president more of a pass than I give my 5 year old daughter, fucking pathetic.

When it comes out that Trump molested Ivanka (we all know he did) you will blame her for being too small to fight him off.

That's the truth Buzz.  We have no leader.  We have no 'president'.  We haven't had one for almost four years now.

Sometimes 8 ball does speak the truth, though unintentional.

We do have a central government.  It's weak by design but everything Trump does shows his intent to strengthen it.  Specifically, the executive branch.  He attacks the Constitution daily by attacking American citizens who are exercising their Constitutional rights.

no. our states tell the feds to fuk off on a regular basis. (  examples: weed, obamacare  )

try telling a central government like in china to fuk off...  see what happens then

the rest of your post is complete crap so I'm not going to bother.

attacking American citizens who are exercising their Constitutional rights.

Since when do Americans have the Constitutional Right to burn and loot cities. They have the right to protest while following all the other laws, they do not have the right to break laws and interfere with and violate other peoples rights. If the protesters stopped breaking laws they might actually accomplish something good but a large faction of the protesters are set on violent revolution along with another large faction that are just opportunistic thieves. Many great things in this Country have been accomplished by peaceful protest because this is a Democracy and peaceful protest can sway public opinion but violent revolutionaries who try to force change with threats and terrorist acts can't be allowed in a Democracy because it is undemocratic. The thing to remember is these protesters don't even make up 1/100th of a percent of our population so they have no right to Demand Anything in a Democracy. They have the right to peacefully start a grassroots movement and try to gain popular support for their movement and try to vote their way to the change they want. As long as they insist on Brown Shirt terrorist tactics they are criminals and need to be put in jail.

Don't be fooled by erroneous poll numbers. American citizens as a whole are decent and patriotic people who believe in law and order and support law enforcement officers.

It is very clear how all the recent chaos and violence came about....which political party appears to support and encourage it, and which party is attempting to do something about it.

Once again, the left is not able or not willing to understand the mood or core beliefs of the people.

It is hard to find a poll where Trump is winning. There are many where he is losing badly and he is well behind in the average of polls.

Yet Trump tells his followers that the only way he can lose is if the election is stolen from him.  He is scum.

In reality, at this time, the odds are about even, and will favor Trump by election day. The only way Biden can win is if the election is rigged. A likely scenario is that, after Trump wins in a landslide, garnering both the popular and electoral vote, is that the Dems will start discovering all kinds of "missing" mailed in ballots that will need to be counted and will sue to keep the results from becoming official

Oh - really?

Does Sanders qualify as a far left Socialist?

Real Clear Politics polling - Sanders vs. Trump  4.2 average lead.

In over a year of polling, Sanders beats Trump about 70 times - Trump manages what - 5 times?

Yeah, his "law and order" message isn't working because all this shit is happening ON HIS WATCH. At this point, he has to take responsibility, but he won't because shirking responsibility is the number one trait of a baby-back bitch.

I do have to give Trump thanks for one thing.  If not for his idiocy, ineptitude, cons, stupidity, narcissism, corruption, sexism, and racism, I would never have discovered the brilliance of Noah, Colbert, and Kimmel who call him out on almost an hourly basis and prove everything on my list.

Lol how in the fuck could it? Quite literally all the lawlessness he is pointing at and decrying IS HAPPENING ON HIS WATCH, and his argument is "hey, this same stuff will happen if you vote for Biden, so instead vote for me and more of the same (if not worse)!"
