Police in Vietnam have confiscated an estimated 345,000 used condoms which had been cleaned and resold as new, state media reported.
Footage broadcast by state-owned Vietnam Television (VTV) this week showed dozens of large bags containing the used contraceptives scattered across the floor of a warehouse in the southern province of Binh Duong. Police said the bags weighed more than 360 kilograms (794 lbs), equivalent to 345,000 condoms, according to VTV. The owner of the warehouse said they had received a "monthly input of used condoms from an unknown person," state newspaper Tuoi Tre reported. A woman detained during the bust told police that the used prophylactics were first boiled in water then dried and reshaped on a wooden phallus before being repackaged and resold. Read More VTV said it was not clear how many of the recycled condoms had already been sold. The detained woman said she had received $0.17 for every kilogramme of recycled condoms she produced. Neither she nor the owner of the warehouse were available for comment.
This made me forget about the election for 10 full minutes.
What!!!
Is this a Trump business?
Sorry Sister, I couldn't resist.
It's certainly possible, especially when one considers his preference for utilizing overseas labor.
The first word that shot out of my mouth was this: "What?!!"
Ew.
You left out a few 'w's. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Lol that's the first comment that came to my mind too.
Ewww
This Woman processed 958 condoms for 17 cents. She boiled them then rerolled them on a stick. How long does that take? Do you think she can do 2 kilos a day and make 34 cents? I doubt it. That's a lot of work for little pay even in Vietnam. I'm not sure I believe this story it seems far fetched and the amount of work collecting, cleaning, rerolling, and repackaging, reselling just doesn't seem like it would be profitable. Condoms are expensive here but it's mostly markup not cost. A brand new condom in it's package probably costs around a penny for the factory to produce and the rest is markup and in poor countries the markup is much less than in the USA. If they sold just the condoms in a clear plastic bag of 50 the factory cost would likely be less than 25 cents since typical condom packages are more costly than the condom itself. It's like potato chips the bag costs the producer as much as the contents. In my opinion this supposed condom recycling ring just seems like to much trouble for to little profit. Besides given the grossness of processing 958 condoms for 17 cents I think the Woman would be better off giving handjobs for a dime.
What will people think of next
OK, gross.
Okay. So she and her "staff" boiled 'em in water for sterilization? —Can somebody clarify to me if that makes her a doctor or a scientist?!
I'm just thinking about how you market them.
"One owner - barely used"
...
Wait! That went over my head: How do you boil a condom and then stick it on a wooden mode shaped like anything? And are they getting stretched?
Damn!!! It's been found out. I thought they were just going to melt them down and reprocess them as shopping bags. Now I'll have to look for another place to sell all my personally used condoms.
That is just plain nasty.
If you're talking to me, what's nasty about being a great lover?
I agree 110% Paula. Not sure why someone would even say something like that.
Frailty thy name is woman, and jealousy gets one nowhere. Now THAT is nasty.
