Trump Mocks Joe Biden: If Elected, 'He'll Listen To The Scientists'

President Donald Trump  sought to insult former Vice President  Joe Biden  on Sunday by saying that his Democratic opponent would listen to scientists if elected president.

Amid a global pandemic that’s claimed more than 219,000 lives in the U.S., Trump mocked Biden during a campaign rally in Carson City, Nevada, which around 5,000 mostly unmasked supporters attended.

“If you vote for Biden, he will surrender your jobs to China. He will surrender your future to the virus. He’s going to lock down, he’s going to want us to lock down,” Trump said.

“He’ll listen to the scientists,” Trump continued. “If I listened totally to the scientists, we would right now have a country that would be in a massive depression, instead of, we’re like a rocket ship. Take a look at the numbers.”

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump has dismissed and disputed science, sent mixed messaging to the public, ignored his own government’s guidance, feuded with public health experts and mocked others for following the rules ― even after he and dozens of people in his circle tested positive.

To date, the U.S. has the highest COVID-19 case count and death toll of any country in the world, and the rates of new infections and deaths continue to climb.

Biden campaign spokesperson Andrew Bates responded to Trump’s comments in a statement   to Axios.

“Donald Trump tanked the strong economy he inherited from the Obama-Biden administration by continually discounting and attacking warnings from the scientific and medical experts working around the clock to save lives,” Bates said. “Now new coronavirus cases are surging and layoffs are rising.”

While the   unemployment rate rebounded   over the summer as local economies reopened, economists said the pace of recovery has slowed. As the number of coronavirus cases began to climb in the fall, major companies   announced   tens of thousands of layoffs. The unemployment rate is currently higher than it was when Trump took office

Joe Biden will surround himself with experts and heed their advice.  Unlike the 'president' who surrounds himself with ass kissers and thinks he knows it all.

Is it any wonder that the once Grand Old Party of Abraham Lincoln is now known merely as the gop?

When Trump mocked Biden for listening to the scientists Trump's audience laughed and cheered. I think the moron count was higher than the coronavirus count or the Trump lie count at that event.

Who knows, Trump just might improve the overall IQ average of the US.  Just not in the way that is favorable to his supporters.....

Spot on.   A good executive surrounds him/herself with high quality individuals and then factors in their counsel.   Trump believes he is smarter than everyone else on the planet and surrounds himself with sycophants.   Outside of the disgusting aspect, this practice weakens the nation.   We do not want presidential decisions being made based on the knowledge of a single person;  we need them to be the result of considered judgment by a person who heeds high quality advice and information.

Hopefully Biden will not agree to yet more lock downs. I don't see Biden doing anything much differently to end the pandemic than Trump has.

“He’ll listen to the scientists,” Trump continued. “If I listened totally to the scientists, we would right now have a country that would be in a massive depression, instead of, we’re like a rocket ship. Take a look at the numbers.”

An admission by Trump that he intentionally ignored professional advice regarding the pandemic for economic (and ultimately personal political) reasons.   He chose his own political future (a failed miscalculation at that) over the health of the American people.

While I understand why some support Trump due to his policies (especially the illusion that Trump created our prior economic successes) and the perception that one knows what one is getting with Trump (vs. Biden's administration being an unpredictable change), I do not see how someone can —with good conscience— return this narcissistic pathological liar to the presidency.

If Trump is re-elected he will keep listening only to the voices in his head, like usual.

Kidding?  1st time he gets to general population, someone will grab that dead yellow muskrat off his head.

For sure that thing on his head will be gone, but what about the bright orange face?  Rust-oleum Outdoor Fabric Paint?

Fabric paint?  I didn't know they made such a thing.

There was an episode of Trading Spaces where they used fabric paint.  They painted an entire sofa in a rather garish shade of hot pink.  It was heinous.  In fact, it was so heinous, that they threw the entire sofa out, and had to buy the family a new one.

..... This should not be controversial at all. OF COURSE HE WILL LISTEN TO THE SCIENTISTS, THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Seriously, when did listening to scientists become controversial?
