Trump Scolds 60 Minutes for 'Tough Questions' but Critics Saw 'Whiny' President
Donald Trump's interview with CBS' 60 Minutes aired on Sunday—days after the president released his campaign team's own footage of the exchange and criticized host Lesley Stahl for being "biased" against him.
At the beginning of the interview Stahl asked if Trump was ready for "some tough questions". Since Sunday's broadcast, however, some journalists and commentators have suggested that the president should not have found them particularly tricky.
But Trump complained during the program that Stahl was "so negative" and accused 60 Minutes of giving softball questions to former Vice President Joe Biden.
At one point in the interview, a producer came in to highlight how much time was left. Trump then decided to bring the conversation to an end.
Donald Trump Tells '60 Minutes' Host 'I'm President And You're Not'
"I think we have enough of an interview here, Hope," he said, most likely addressing his adviser, Hope Hicks. "Okay? That's enough. Let's go."
Trump told Stahl "you brought up a lot of subjects that were inappropriately brought up", to which the host responded: "Well, I said, I'm going to ask you tough questions."
The president's decision to end the interview early came after a question about whether his use of social media and name-calling was "turning people off."
After the broadcast, some Twitter-users failed to see why Trump had complained about the questions and suggested that the exchange had reflected badly on the president.
"My main takeaway from that 60 Minutes thing is that the questions weren't... really tough? Like, at all?" Atlantic writer McKay Coppins wrote on Twitter.
"I mean, the questions were fine. But this was not some kind of wildly hostile grilling that should have triggered a presidential fight-or-flight response."
"I don't understand how anyone can watch this and draw any conclusion other than Trump is completely unfit for his job," tweeted Vox journalist Aaron Rupar, who shared a clip of Trump complaining about 60 Minutes' treatment of Biden.
"So President Trump basically said tonight on 60 Minutes that he thinks asking him 'tough questions' is unfair," tweeted Jory Rand of ABC 7 Eyewitness News.
Pod Save America host Jon Favreau, who is a former speechwriter for former President Barack Obama, was among those who described Trump's performance as "whiny".
"This 60 Minutes interview isn't Trump fighting the media - it's Trump being a whiny, aggrieved baby," Favreau wrote on Twitter. "He just seems so weak and pathetic."
"He's no longer even pretending to fight for his supporters against liberals, immigrants, the media, elites, the establishment - whatever. Donald Trump is fighting for Donald Trump. That's it," he said.
Activist and writer Amy Siskind asked if "any person watching Trump's interview with Stahl think he is anything more than a whiny child?" She added: All he did was lie and obfuscate, and when he was called on it he got up and sulked out."
Former Watergate prosecutor and MSNBC contributor Jill Wine-Banks also wrote: "Trump doesn't come across as a whiny loser. He IS a whiny loser."

He's such a whiny little bitch.
Wimp.
... and a coward.
Unlike FoxNews, who will accept anything he says, Leslie was doing her own version of "c'mon man!" for most of his answers.
...and a simp.
pull ton
I dont think her question of mask use at Trump rallies was unfair at all. It would be extremely simple and easy for Trump to say at the start of his rallies "Make sure everyone has a mask on now", with a smile on his face.
The fact that he considers such a question unfair exposes his real agenda - herd immunity.
I thought his agenda was herd mentality.
Herd round the whirled up allowed to sea and here the depths of the once great America, it's Sewer Grateness, asz we trump all other nations width the heights of areas ruled over via igknorantz ruling
Trump gets 100 MPH fast balls ..... Biden gets the usual slow pitch softballs ...... i thought better of Stahl than that.
No longer ......
I doubt your opinion will keep her up nights.
Yawn ....
He's President of the United States, Sparty, and he thinks he was mistreated by a female journalist and lets the world know about it. So what if his delicates were twisted. It's part of the fucking job. The fact that he can't make it through an interview without histrionics should be embarrassing to you, not boring.
.... zzzzzzzzzz ......
WAKE UP !
Don't you dare wake him up. It took us hours to put him down for a nap.
LOL!
You mean during the Leslie Stahl, Joe Biden interview that Trump pointed out? The interview that never took place?
No i mean the 60 minutes interview but lets not split hairs here.
The mass media serves Biden up softballs with most of their alleged "journalism" towards him so you can really take your pick.
No hairs to split, Leslie Stahl never interviewed Biden.
You really want to compare Biden interview questions with Trump's FoxNews interview questions???
Let's play softball: Read all 18 questions Fox News asked Trump
Sean Hannity: Fox News host mocked for asking Trump softball questions
And that’s why Trump gives more interviews to Fox News than anyone else
Any supposition that Biden gets treated with the same negative vigor by the mass media as Trump does, would be the funniest thing i've heard this year. By far.
Thx for the laugh Ozz .... you really are the best.
If by 'fastballs' you mean his lies getting called out in real time, he really wasn't up for it, was he? He feels entitled to lie with impunity, and when he gets checked, he whines and runs away. How the hell can he deal with world leaders and adversaries? HE CAN'T. They know he's a pussy and how easy it is to manipulate him and his ego. What a pathetic old asshole.
Refer to 4.2.3 ..... apply, rinse and repeat as necessary ......
Ahh, standard operating procedure, change the subject, move the goalposts.
Care to stay on subject, "INTERVIEW QUESTIONS", or are you going to bail?
Stop projecting Ozz ... it's unseemly
Your going to bail. Thanks for the answer.
Much cuter than the other "yawn"
I thought so too. Isn't it funny seeing a kitty yawn (or a human) you have to yawn too? Every time I see that, I yawn.
Hilarious. Please do site one of those supposed "100 MPH fast balls" because all I saw was a flailing loser swinging and missing at lazy lob pitches that anyone with even half a brain could have knocked out of the park. Instead Trump just whined and forfeited the game because he couldn't even answer the simplest of questions. His attempts at hitting were worse than his attempts at pitching...
That question about name calling and insults being off-putting? C'mon, Dismayed! You know that was a 150 mph hardball!
do I really need the sarcasm tag? Consider this the sarcasm font
"Trump gets 100 MPH fast balls"
When?
Putins' bouncing em off his chin
ooo....you're bad....I like that
Sunday's 60 Minutes was an elect Biden-Harris campaighn ad.
… was another example of Trump being Trump, which is the best kind of...
...at least for any rational sane Americans who don't have their heads stuffed up Trumps ass.
Part of his schtick.
The press is bias! See how bad they treat me!
Amazing that his followers believe it...
Donald could walk on water and his critics would say he is polluting the ocean with dirty shoes. Funny that the biggest bunch of snowflake whiners are the ones calling Trump a whiner.
MELT ME
and it still wouldn't make him a competent President.
Pure unadulterated conservative projection. The true snowflakes are the ones demanding their right to discriminate against gays, demanding their right to force their way into a women's choice, screaming and raging when called "bitter clingers" because it hits so close to home while at the same time proclaiming anyone that doesn't let them use bigoted terms for minorities and liberals must be too 'PC'.
Trump was a sniveling weak coward in this interview as we all could see, so it's no wonder that his loyal sycophants would rush out to defend him and deflect any and all scrutiny.
