Rep. Ilhan Omar slammed for claiming Supreme Court 'has one of the lowest approval ratings' for a government branch
Rep. Ilhan Omar said this week during a town hall event that the Supreme Court holds the lowest approval rating of the three branches of government, prompting many on Twitter to point out polls showing Congress with the lowest approval rate.

"Of our three branches, the judiciary or the Supreme Court has one of the lowest approval ratings," Omar said during a discussion with Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono in an immigration town hall event via video conference.
"I think it's, like, a 10% approval rating," Omar added.

Gallup polling from this summer showed Congress with an 18% approval rating, compared to a 41% approval rating for President Trump and as high as 58% for the Supreme Court.
"I realize Ilhan Omar has never been big on facts or reality, but this is the exact opposite of true," A.G. Hamilton wrote on Twitter. "Great deal or a lot of confidence in institutions: SCOTUS - 40%, Congress- 13%, Presidency- 39%."
Hamilton also pointed out that previous polling has shown Omar's favorability rating to be much lower than the Supreme Court's in the past.
In fact, Ilhan Omar herself has a -21 approval rating (25% favorable vs 46% unfavorable): https://t.co/4N6RZnqeu5
While The Supreme Court has a +10 approval rating (53-43):https://t.co/NNzSy9MBpH

Several other people on Twitter joined in Hamilton's criticism.
Well 2 things here.
1: shockingly Ilhan Omar is wrong - it has the highest approval rating.
2- the Supreme Court thankfully doesn't care about ratings. They only care if laws are constitutional. https://t.co/NDJFBYeUp9

So as of End of September, SCOTUS had a 53% approval rating. As of yesterday Rasmussen says 51% approve of @realDonaldTrump. Let's check Congress: at end of Sept it was 18%.@IlhanMN you are as bad a liar as @joebiden. https://t.co/JQLJJdESBc

Congress has a 17-19% approval rating at the moment. That's very high—It has dropped to single digits MANY times before. Pretty sad for a group of direct representatives for the American people. It's that low because of Reps like Omar and Senators like Hirono. https://t.co/wVbGuavdFK

Ilhan Omar is wrong, as usual. The Supreme Court has a higher approval rating than both congress and the executive. https://t.co/wVkbGZ6cXz

Omar and Hirono also discussed the recent confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, which Hirono deemed "illegitimate," and Omar described Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as "masterful in the way he carries out his cruelty."

Omar and Hirono---perfect examples of the idiots in Congress.
I wonder if they even believe the crap they spew?
Isn't it rather scary that a supposedly educated woman who is a member of Congress can allow herself to believe that courts should care about approval ratings?
Making herself and the husband who isn’t her brother rich by laundering campaign donations are her skills, not being honest.
Just funny that she totally misrepresented the ratings for SCOTUS while being a member of the institution with the lowest ratings!
she's really a piece of work.
And Hirono is no better in my book.
A member of the HoR socialist Squad and Crazy Mazie wear their "STUPID" badges again? Color me surprised!
To be honest with you, it sounds like something Trump would say if a court ruling went against him.
She's still 9,999 behind Trump when it comes to stupid comments.
Deflect much?
FFS, this IS NOT ABOUT FUCKING TRUMP!
Take the TDS elsewhere!
I take it the truth upsets you, lol.
What "upsets" me is that some people are so fucking riddled with TDS they are completely unable to make any comments about the subject at hand and HAVE to deflect to Trump no matter what.
SO, STAY ON TOPIC or leave, thanks.
There is no such thing as TDS. How many times do you have to be told that? The "derangement" would be if people did not oppose Trump every day.
Last warning: Stay on topic. The topic is not Trump.
Got it?
O. M. G.
Do you seriously think Ilhan Omar says more stupid things than Trump ? What planet are you living on ?
I'm living on the planet where this seed is about Ilhan Omar and an individual stupid thing that she said. Do you seriously think this seed is about Trump? We could have a seed on how to bake banana muffins and you would bring up Trump.
I just think it's rather striking that you think Omar's statements somehow stand out as inappropriate in this current atmosphere. Its like complaining about a cracked egg in a carton full of broken ones.
AMEN to THAT!

Dumb and wrong are not relative to how much other dumb or wrong stuff exists. The thing is judged on its own merit.
ROFLMAO. Look in the mirror, lady. That's a lot closer to the approval rating for Congress . (Currently 17% according to this source ) Meanwhile, the disapproval rating is at 80%.
To me this supports what I say all the time: The person in the White House isn't what matters for this country right now. It's all those idiots in Congress that keep getting reelected.
The SCOTUS approval rating has been near or above 50% going back 20 years.
You got that right. Congress remains as the biggest problem ... in particular the partisan leadership system wherein a few (the leaders) essentially control the votes of the membership. That is not representative democracy as envisioned by our founders.
In the movie The DaVinci Code, a Paris police captain played by Jean Reno says of the glass pyramid in front of the Louvre "It's a scar on the face of Paris".. IMO Ilhan Omar is a scar on the face of the Democratic Party.
