White House Peddles False Claim about Low Vaccination Rates in Florida, Texas
The White House claims red states are consuming a disproportionate amount of antibody treatment doses because of low vaccination rates.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

White House press secretary Jen Psaki is using a misleading argument about COVID-19 vaccination rates in Florida and Texas to justify the Biden administration's decision to curb the supply of monoclonal antibodies — an effective treatment option for COVID-19 — being distributed to these states.

The federal government has only recently decided to take over the distribution of the antibody treatments, which Florida governor Ron DeSantis was an early proponent of. Abruptly, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced on Tuesday that it would be cutting the supply provided to Florida. The administration "did not provide any indication of any upcoming limitation to supply,” during communications between the state and department the day prior, according to DeSantis’s press secretary Christina Pushaw.

The decision to begin rationing doses marks a departure from the policy articulated by the administration earlier this month. On September 8, Dr. John Redd, chief medical officer for HHS’s emergency preparedness and response office, insisted that “we have not transitioned back to an allocation process.”

Psaki defended the reversal by arguing that it is the administration’s job to provide for an equitable distribution of the treatments among the states. She also erroneously cited low vaccination rates in Florida and Texas as the reason for a recent surge in cases in those states.

On Thursday, she asserted that “monoclonal antibodies are lifesaving therapies that are used after infection to prevent more severe outcomes. So clearly the way to protect people and save more lives is to get them vaccinated so that they don’t get COVID to begin with. But over the last month, given the rising cases due to the delta variant and the lowered number of vaccination rates in some of these states — like Florida, like Texas — just seven states are making up 70 percent of the orders. Our supply is not unlimited and we believe it should be equitable across states across the country.”

“I think our role as the government overseeing the entire country is to be equitable in how we distribute, we’re not going to give a greater percentage to Florida over Oklahoma,” added Psaki.
While a good-faith debate could be had over the merits of the White House’s new, centralized distribution policy, it’s more difficult to digest Psaki vaccination rate-dependent justification.

According to the New York Times, Florida ranks 18th among the states in terms of the proportion of its adult population inoculated with at least one does of the vaccine, and it has a higher full vaccination rate than states such as Illinois and Michigan. Texas meanwhile, ranks 25th in the first category, and ahead of Nevada and North Carolina in the second.

Neither President Biden nor Psaki have been critical of Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, and North Carolina or their Democratic governors for “lowered vaccination rates.” On the other hand, DeSantis and Texas governor Greg Abbott have sparred with the president on a number of issues, but especially on the subject of COVID and how best to balance the public health challenge it represents with other priorities.

It’s also notable that while the vaccines have proven resilient in preventing hospitalization and death amidst the Delta variant outbreak, breakthrough cases have been far more common since it supplanted the original viral strain as the most common in the U.S. At a press conference on Thursday, DeSantis noted that at a Broward County site where antibody doses are being distributed, 52 percent of the patients and a whopping 69 percent of patients over the age of 60 had been vaccinated.

“I think that the message is you do need to have treatment as an important component when you’re dealing with COVID,” said DeSantis.

Biden has angrily implored GOP governors to “at least get out of the way of the people who are trying to do the right thing.” As recently as this week, DeSantis told Politico reporter Marc Caputo that “I think the data is very clear on the vaccinations, you’re much less likely to be hospitalized or die if you’re  vaccinated. If you look, I think the hospitalizations skew four to one, in favor of people who are unvaccinated, which really is understating the difference because most people are vaccinated.”

Thanks for seeding an article on this topic.  Both Florida and Texas are in the top half of states vaccinated by percentage of population.  I mentioned this in discussion about Biden cutting off of regeneron to red states.

SORRY BIDEN! DeSantis To Buy Antibodies DIRECT From Manufacturer After Biden Tried Crippling Florida

by Collin Rugg about 16 hours ago

In a defiant move against President Joe Biden, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will be buying antibody treatments against COVID-10 directly from the manufacturer after Biden purposely slowed the supply to Florida, putting many Americans in danger.

“Just last week on September 9th, President Joe Biden said that his administration would be increasing shipments of monoclonal antibodies in September by 50%, and yet on September 13th, HHS announced that it was seizing control of the monoclonal antibody supply and that it would control distribution, and then on September 14th, the announcement was more than 50% of the monoclonal antibodies that had been used in Florida were going to be reduced,” DeSantis said. “So this is a dramatic reduction, and I’d say it’s doubly problematic because what Shane Strum and folks in Tampa General and these other hospital systems that have been doing this, they’re not getting it from the state.”

“What the HHS and the Biden administration is now doing is they’re saying that all of the reduced amount will go to the state, and we’re responsible not only for sourcing our sites, which we’re happy to do, but any infusion center, any provider, any hospital will have to come through the state, and to just spring this on us starting next week, we’re going to have to do that,” DeSantis continued. “There’s going to be a huge disruption and patients are going to suffer as a result of this.”

DeSantis made it perfectly clear that he is going to “work like hell to make sure” that Florida “can overcome the obstacles that HHS and the Biden administration” are imposing against his state, adding that the treatment has saved lives.

“To just kind of pull the rug out from anyone a week after the president himself said they were going to be increasing the distributions by 50%, it’s very, very problematic,” DeSantis said. “What I am doing though, is we’re going to try to cover the bases.”

DeSantis noted that he had a call with GlaxoSmithKline executives and believes Florida will be able to purchase the antibody directly from them.

Donald Trump Jr. reacted to the news of how Biden was limiting treatment options for COVID-19, accusing him of putting Americans in danger.

“Americans will die because of Biden’s despicable decision to punish his political enemies in red states by restricting their ability to secure life-saving monoclonal antibody treatments for all that need them,” Trump tweeted. “Their blood is directly on Joe’s hands.”

“Antibody treatments aren’t a substitute for vaccines But they have prevented thousands of hospitalizations including in breakthrough cases,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) also noted. “Now in a move that reeks of partisan payback against states like Florida, the Biden administration is rationing these treatments.”

Well gee Vic, let's look:

On September 8, Dr. John Redd, chief medical officer for HHS’s emergency preparedness and response office, insisted that “we have not transitioned back to an allocation process.”

Wait what? "Transitioned BACK"? That seems to indicate that the federal government has already taken over distribution at a prior date. Hmmm...

Then we have the press release from the HHS:

On Monday, September 13, HHS transitioned from a direct ordering process to a state/territory-coordinated distribution system similar to that used for the distribution of mAbs from November 2020 – February 2021.

So it sure as fuck looks like 'taking over the distribution' of mAbs' isn't a 'newly acquired power' since Trump's HHS did the SAME thing.

Right and they are transitioning back to THAT allocation process.

Oh and BTFW Vic, the HHS press release includes a chart that documents the number of doses released to each state.

CA - 5,130

  • Weekly distribution amounts for each state/territory will be determined by HHS based on weekly reports of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in addition to data on inventories and use submitted to the federal government.

The ORIGINAL EUA is STILL in effect.

Distribution of the authorized casirivimab and imdevimab will be controlled by the United States (U.S.) Government

The federal government has only recently decided to take over the distribution of the antibody treatments

We are not stupid, Dulay.

That's debatable.

The new policy hasn't taken effect. When it does, states that need it most will face a cut-off point.

Oh but is HAS Vic.

Federal records show that Florida is due to receive 27,850 does of Regeneron this week, which is still the most in the country. It’s down from the state’s weekly average of 72,000, according to DeSantis’ office. Florida and the six other states that were receiving 70 percent of the federal supply are now receiving more than 55 percent, while the rest are shared among the other states, districts and territories including Oklahoma, which will receive 2,840 doses.

DeSantis spokesperson Christina Pushaw told POLITICO that Florida health officials told the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Monday that the state would need at least 36,000 doses of the antibody cocktails for the state’s 25 treatment sites , not counting locations where it’s offered privately statewide. In an email sent by HHS on Tuesday, which Pushaw provided a copy, federal officials told the state to expect about 30,000 doses.

Not every patient with covid qualifies for Regeneron treatment. That fact is also documented in the EUA.

Well here you go. I guarantee every last one of these people are an illegal.

Call somebody. It's your civic duty.

It is on the news; you know the news that the left claims is faux. They have documented it extensively. The human fuck up machine in the White House is aware of it enough to have the FAA declare the Rio Valley International Bridge a drone no fly zone; and shut down traffic over it. So why hasn't he done anything about it other than make it more difficult for the media to cover it?

T oo funny. Abbott can't keep the power [ & ] water on during a winter storm, let alone deport people he can't find.

Everyone knows where they are at; including the human fuck up machine in the White House. The Mayor of Del Rio is begging for help; not that you seem to care.

The mayor of Del Rio, Texas, is calling on the Biden administration to take swift action regarding the influx of illegal immigrants in his city as over 10,000 wait under the Del Rio International Bridge, opening the possibility for a “terror threat.”

On Thursday, Del Rio Mayor Bruno Lozano revealed approximately 10,503 migrants are waiting under the bridge to be processed by the US Border Patrol while 2,000 to 3,000 are in detention “at any given moment.”

He revealed that the number of illegal immigrants under the bridge is close to one-third of the population of Del Rio.

After images of the thousands of immigrants under the bridge surfaced,  the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) instituted a two-week flight restriction over the city of Del Rio for “special security reasons” — which grounded a drone used by Fox News to document the chaos, causing some to question the timing of the order.

In a statement, the FAA said, “the Border Patrol requested the temporary flight restriction due to drones interfering with law enforcement flights on the border. As with any temporary flight restriction, media is able to call the FAA to make requests to operate in the area.”

“What’s happening is real-time threats,” Lozano said in a video statement posted to Twitter .

“We have the threat of health, we have the persons behind me, [and] yesterday we had a woman that went into labor. We have the health of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases that are found in our area because of this vast migration and all individuals just crowded underneath the bridge.”

Lozano pointed out potential safety issues, including the possibility of a stampede or a terror threat, expressing concern that “they’ll all just flock out and just run to either the port of entry or back to the river and stepping all over each other.”

As the thousands of illegal immigrants wait under the bridge for processing, hundreds have been seen and photographed traveling back to Mexico to gather supplies such as water and food. Lozano acknowledged the additional crossings, saying they open “the potential for a terror threat.”

“We need quick action from the administration, we need quick attention to this, we need a response in real time,” he added.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday instituted a two-week flight restriction over the city of Del Rio for “special security reasons” — which downed a drone being used by Fox News to film the crisis.

You claim to have lived and travelled in Texas for years. Why don't you do your civic duty and offer to shelter several of these illegal immigrants? In fact why doesn't every person that voted for Biden offer to do the same? This is what you voted for after all.

There it is, I can always depend on your consistent political hatred.

I can always count on your consistent political bias and constantly ignoring any and all facts no matter how blatant they are if they don't fit your very narrow minded political [ views.Deleted ]

He isn't shutting down the whole border. Just the little section that is affected. There are two other major crossings in Texas- look for them to switch to those. He also isn't ending the policies that encouraged these people to come in the first place.

I guess we found out one thing; Biden really doesn't like or want the Haitians arounds. He is beginning processing them for deportation back to Haiti. Too bad Biden doesn't treat the rest of the illegal immigrants streaming across our border the same way.
