Students in Virginia as young as 12 will be asked specific questions about their sex and dating lives in a new Fairfax County survey.
"During the past three months, with how many people have you had sexual intercourse?" one of the questions that will be on the 2021 Fairfax County Youth Survey asks, ABC7 reported . Others include: "Have you ever had sexual intercourse?"; "How old were you when you had sexual intercourse for the first time?"; "During your life, with how many people have you had sexual intercourse?"; "Have you ever had oral sex?"
The anonymous survey is a collaboration between the Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools. Students in 8th, 10th and 12th grade will have the option of participating in the survey - it is not mandatory.
Other portions include asking students about bullying, their home life, emotions they’ve had in the last year, and how often they use tobacco or drink alcohol. The survey also prompts students about their sexual orientation, whether they are transgender, and their race.
"The Fairfax County Youth Survey is a comprehensive, anonymous and voluntary survey given each year to students in grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 that examines behaviors, experiences and other factors that influence the health and well-being of Fairfax County's youth. The results provide a snapshot of the county's youth and serve as a barometer of the community's effectiveness in fostering healthy choices in young people," the Fairfax County website says of the youth survey .
A survey for 6th graders will also be offered and asks students about bullying, their emotions in recent months and weeks, how often they have moved since childhood, among other questions.
The county has offered similar surveys in previous years, which have found data on how many students vape, and levels of depression and stress among students.
It is unclear how this year’s data will be used. Fairfax County’s public affairs office did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment on the matter.
What evil our children have faced.
The only good thing that came out of the pandemic was parents seeing what their kids were being taught!
They're not being taught anything.
It's a survey. And they don't have to take it.
And it's frankly important statistical information that every parent should want to know.
I like to thank Mr. Brady of the Brady bunch for pointing out the horrors of having a non-mandatory and anonymous survey asking such personal questions.
We all know that high schoolers never have sex.
Who is they? If the survey was sent to parents it would be one thing. You have to read it or at least know what it's about in order to decide if your going to take the survey.
It was inappropriate.
How is a voluntary and anonymous survey inappropriate? What is your hangup about knowing about teen sexual activity? They aren't encouraging teens to have sex or instructing them on a taboo subject.
Two things, Vic. Surely the survey about sex was given only to the older kids, and surely they were told what the survey was about when asked if they wished to take it or not. I would be awfully surprised if that were not the case. It wasn't forced on them.
How would the parents know about their kids sexual history? Most teens probably do not want to tell their parents they're having sex.
How so? It's anonymous and voluntary. So what's the problem? Or is it just the idea of teens might actually be having sex that is really bothering you?
Why does the school need this private information?
It's none of the school district's business.
Possibly for health or educational statistics? Maybe to see where educational resources are needed, such as sex ed?
If students feel that way, they can simply refuse to answer the survey.
It is the school's business because it is used to determine what needs to be taught in sex education.
What is your problem with sex and sex education in schools?
The students. Did you read the article?
Parents rarely know the sexual experience of their kids. Did your mom know what you were up to as a teenager?
I'm just not that prude.
The school doesn't. It was done in conjunction with the county health department, which needs accurate statistics.
You just don't get it? Those questions should only be asked by a parent.
Why? Parents are probably the last to know about their kids sexual activities or habits.
EXACTLY Gordy. And how many kids honestly tell their parents that? Next to none.
But these parents are outraged, absolutely outraged by this absolute evil!!!!!!!!!!!!
What they're outraged about (and they're always outraged about something) about what though, I don't know.
I know, right? It's not like Billy tells his mom about the hot cheerleader with the stripper rack that he's banging in the back of the family minivan on weekends after the big game. But somehow, parents are supposed to automatically know everything about their kids sex life and be the ones to fill out a survey about it?
I certainly do not get how a survey detailing "sexual activity parents will admit their kids are doing" is particularly helpful for planning how to allocate public health resources.
Unless of course they're going to compare it to another survey on what the kids are actually doing so they can demonstrate how little parents actually know.
It all depends upon one's point of view.
That same questionnaire was used in several Colorado school districts.
So what?
Evil?
What exactly are they being taught?
Oh yes, the evil that came from Frankfort University anf first landed at Columbia University.
Which means what?
What evil?
He'll never give you a direct answer.
I suppose some people view sex as "evil."
Did you read the seed? It only takes 2 minutes.
You know that's not a strong point some have.
So iv'e learned.
The 'article' is from Faux 'news'.
'Nuff said.
Then have a good day!
Kinda gives a new meaning to 'fucking liberals', doesn't it? Let's go, Brandon!
Even I had to laugh with that!
It's so immature that the alleged conservatives roll with that lame ass 'let's go Brandon' bullshit.
Not funny at all.
I'm still waiting to hear about the 'evil'
Apparently asking questions is a big "No-no" in conservative circles. They prefer the "don't ask, don't tell" so they don't have to feel guilty or see the numbers of students at that age that are having sex without their knowledge. They want to cover their eyes to the truth until their 15 year old comes home pregnant which is when they quickly jump in the car and then drive their daughter to a blue State clinic so none of their conservative neighbors or fellow church members find out that the 'abstinence only' programs they support work about as well as a toilet paper condom.
That was the old days...before the pill.
You think the good old days were not having the pill?
Thread 7.4 removed for no value.
Did I use the term "good old days?"
I don't understand what you are getting at?
Are you interested in discussing the pro's and con's of the pill?
Thats all?
Are you sure?
Friday is going to be a rough day I think.
What exactly are the cons of effective contraception in a pill form?
Outside of potential side effects, I can see none.
Should schools provide contraceptives
Absolutely!
hell yes!!
Yes, absolutely on request.
I NEVER read links from certain posters. What a waste of time that would be!
I value your deletions.
They may add a new question:
"Have you had sexual intercourse or oral sex with your teacher yet?"
Or priest?
Probably best not to ask that question in RCC schools.
Or Nun?
Let's see how many inches this can go up your ass, Bart.
