Lauren Boebert: US, Canada, Need to Be 'Liberated' Like Ukraine

  • Rep. Lauren Boebert has called for the US and Canada to be "liberated" like Ukraine.
  • Boebert referenced Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky's decision to remain in Kyiv amid Russia's invasion.
  • The congresswoman is a gun rights advocate and has voiced support for Canada's "Freedom Convoy."

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert on Sunday suggested that the US and Canada need to be "liberated" like Ukraine, lauding the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky for his "live free or die" attitude.

"I pray for Ukraine, and I wish them the best. They have a great president right now who has really said clearly, 'Live free or die.' He said, 'I don't need a ride, give me ammunition. The fight is right here,'" she told Fox Nation while attending the Conservative Political Action Conference.

"But we also have neighbors to the north who need freedom and need to be liberated, and we need that right here at home as well," Boebert added.

The congresswoman had referred to Zelensky's vow to remain in Kyiv to face the Russian invasion. He had declined an offer from the US to be evacuated from the city, saying: "The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride."

It is unclear what Boebert meant by "liberated" in this context, and representatives for the congresswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.

However, the controversial lawmaker has been a strong advocate of gun ownership. Last February, she attended a virtual House committee meeting while seated in front of a bookshelf stacked with guns.

Boebert last month also openly backed the Freedom Convoy, a movement sparked by thousands of truckers in Canada who to the country's capital to protest vaccine mandates.

"The Freedom Convoy is representative of a people's yearning for freedom — something so many thought may have been all but lost to decadence. I'm glad to see the will to fight for liberty is still alive and well!" Boebert tweeted on February 15.

I am sure the one person who finally figured out what a garbage disposal is is just brilliant.

And didn't she claim unemployment was low because people had two jobs?

And who can forget when she claimed there is no upper-middle-class?

And of course, one of my personal favorites about how to pay for things on her wish list--"You just pay for them".

40 hour work week

Traces back to the 8 hour work day, Ulysses S Grant, Republican

GI Bill

Harry W. Colmery, Republican National Committee chairman and a former National Commander of the American Legion, is credited with writing the first draft of the G.I. Bill.... National Commander of the American Legion Warren Atherton, (R) CA was actively involved in the bill's passage and is known the "one of the fathers of the G.I. Bill."...  Edith Nourse Rogers, (R) MA, who helped write and who co-sponsored the legislation, as the "mother of the G.I. Bill". there was probably a democrat in there somewhere as a co-sponsor, but the bill was a Republican proposal and went ten times farther than President Roosevelt thought was proper...

Equality in the workplace

A political ideal that has no concrete creation point so no political party can claim ownership...

OSHA

Thank Richard M Nixon, Republican, one of those horrible pieces of legislation for liberals he signed into law...

Please do quote that law stating a sitting President can't be indicted. And Trump hasn't been your President for well over a year now, so what is the fucking hold-up NOW?

Bipartisan impeachment.

One was. Tell the WHOLE truth. The first  marked the first fully partisan impeachment where a U.S. president was impeached without support for the impeachment from the President's own party (according to Wiki).

Both were completely in vain other than allowing Democrats to feel as if they DID something.

I never implied that not indicting a sitting president was the "law", YOU DID.  So maybe, one day, you will learn the difference

And the point still stands, if Trump had not been POTUS, he would have been indicted with the rest of his cronies.

Yes, they were completed, without the goal being gained of removal of a President.

The House's goal was to impeach him if the evidence warranted.  It did, he was.

The goal of the Senate was to remove him from office if the evidence warranted.  In this case the Senate failed since if refused to even look at any evidence, and so could not make a determination.

Reagan 489 electoral votes, Carter 49

Yes, you read that right--together in two elections the Democratic candidates managed all by themselves to garner a whopping 62 electoral votes, which isn't even 1/3 the number to win even ONE election.

IF you believe in the European paradigm of politics (socialism) it is...

Let me help...

Fascism   ( / ˈ f æ ʃ ɪ z əm / ) is a form of   far-right ,   authoritarian   ultranationalism [1]   characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and the economy [2]   that rose to prominence in early 20th-century Europe. [3] [4]   The first fascist movements   emerged in Italy   during   World War I , before   spreading to other European countries . [3]   Opposed to   anarchism ,   democracy ,   liberalism , and   Marxism , [5]   fascism is placed on the far   right-wing   within the traditional   left–right spectrum . [3] [6]

Fascists saw World War I as a   revolution   that brought massive changes to the nature of war, society, the state, and technology. The advent of   total war   and the total mass mobilization of society had broken down the distinction between civilians and combatants. A military citizenship arose in which all citizens were involved with the military in some manner during the war. [7]   The war had resulted in the rise of a powerful state capable of mobilizing millions of people to serve on the front lines and providing economic production and logistics to support them, as well as having unprecedented authority to intervene in the lives of citizens. [7]

Fascists believe that   liberal democracy   is obsolete. They regard the complete mobilization of society under a   totalitarian   one-party state   as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. [8]   A fascist state is led by a strong leader (such as a   dictator ) and a   martial law   government composed of the members of the governing fascist party to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society. [8]   Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature and views   imperialism , political violence and war as means that can achieve national rejuvenation. [9]   Fascists advocate a   dirigisme [10]   [11]   economy, with the principal goal of achieving   autarky   (national economic self-sufficiency) through   protectionist   and   economic interventionist   policies. [12]   The extreme authoritarianism and nationalism of fascism often manifests a belief in   racial purity   or a   master race , usually synthesized with some variant of   racism   or   bigotry   against a demonized " Other ". These ideas have motivated fascist regimes to commit   genocides ,   massacres ,   forced sterilizations ,   mass killings , and forced   deportations . [13]

Since the end of   World War II   in 1945, few parties have openly described themselves as   fascist ; the term is more often used   pejoratively   by political opponents. The descriptions of   neo-fascist   or   post-fascist   are sometimes applied more formally to describe contemporary parties of the far-right with ideologies similar to, or rooted in, 20th-century fascist movements. [3] [14]

So...  The Ukranians are now reveling in their new found rights?  They now have the right to hide in their basements.  They now have the right to be blown up in their sleep.  And, of course, they now have the right to be Russian.  Guns are a poor defense for rockets, bombs, and artillery.  But, hey, at least they don't have to wear a mask.

The opposite is true but your claim is proof that conservative people are less intelligent.

Over the past decade, several studies have shown that people who tend to hold more conservative views score low on measures of intelligence. However, it now appears that while conservatism and intelligence are negatively correlated, the link is not as strong as first thought.

Origins

Much of the previous work in this area was based on a psychological definition of conservatism, rather than a political one. The term “conservative syndrome” was coined to describe a person who attaches particular importance to respect for tradition, humility, devoutness and moderation.

Such a person tends to hold conformist values like obedience, self-discipline and politeness, and emphasises the need for social order coupled with concerns for family and national security.

A conservative person also subscribes to conventional religious beliefs and has a sense of belonging to and pride in a group with which they identify. The same person is likely to be less open to intellectual challenges and will be seen as a responsible “good citizen” at work and in society, while expressing rather harsh views toward those outside their group.
