Biden's state of the union

Biden's state of the union
“We are not going to have a military war with Russia with US troops, and he thinks it’s vitally important and first and foremost important to be direct with the public about that,” Psaki told MSNBC.

Tonight Joe Biden will give his first State of the Union Address. He will have not a single thing that he can brag about to main stream America. The radical left may be happy with the things he has done, but it has hurt most Americans. His first year in office produced the worst inflation in 40 years, the worst violent crime in 25 years, the highest gas prices in 7 years, the most illegal border crossings ever recorded, and then there was the deadly, disgraceful surrender in Afghanistan. He will have to speak tonight as his approval rating is hitting new lows as Americans complain of rising prices and international instability. BTW, Americans disapprove of everything he has done.

So what will he talk about tonight?

Will he talk about the war in Europe, the very one that could also have been caused by his weakness and ineptitude?

One could easily point to Joe Biden as the cause of all these crisis. Of course he gave us no indication during the 2020 campaign that he would be a radical extremist. Most of those who voted for him either voted based on party affiliation and a ballot delivered to their door or they simply hated Trump. I'd say those are the worst among us. I think 2021 is the proof that I'm right.

What say you?

There is one thing I'm sure he will talk about (or should I say that his handlers will script for him) is his sanctions of Russia, yet, in reality, they have been too little, too late. He has intentionally avoided sanctioning Vladimir Putin’s energy industry, which is funding the invasion and propping up the entire regime.

So what will he say tonight?

Here is what Dana Perino expects:

" President Biden  got news today that the ABC  poll  has him at 37% approval. That is what he is looking at. It's just not that Americans have an opinion about him, they have formed a judgment. It was a very high bar for him to clear anyway. I expect that you will see grace notes, some attempts at unity, and he'll be able to introduce to America again his  Supreme Court  nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson, who had a pretty good rollout the other day. Now that said, Jesse, imagine you and your sister played monopoly all weekend. You got all the pieces out on the board and everything is going very well and then the neighbor kid comes over and kicks the board over. That's basically what  Vladimir Putin  did to the State of the Union speech. "

I'm going to take a page from the Nancy Pelosi book. I'm ripping up his speech before he makes it.

I'm not wasting my time!

There is one thing I'm sure he will talk about ... is his sanctions of Russia

Sanctions that were already in place but lifted within his 1st week in office.

It seems that the Bumbling Baboon is attempting to activate the National Guard from various states to "protect the capital".  Reality is it makes him look like the dictator, I think he wishes he could be.

I'm sure the NG will be treated as badly as they were a year ago.

He will take credit for both the pandemic and his "leadership" in the Ukraine.  He will pick everything that he can't spin as a success (inflation shows how strong the economy is, etc. )and blame someone/something else for his failures in policy and leadership.  I remember in the business world you were held accountable for results, not excuses why you couldn't get things done.

We move oil and gas around on trains and trucks, but the most efficient and safest way to transport fuel is via pipeline. Environmentalists who block pipeline projects do so out of an ideological opposition to building any new conventional-fuel infrastructure. (Sometimes, they even say as much publicly.) If Biden wants to do that he should be honest with the American people and tell them they are going to suffer until the day comes when he have this great dream called "green energy."

Russian imports do not make up a very large part of the U.S. energy portfolio: More than 60 percent of our oil imports come from Canada, another 10 percent from Mexico, 6 percent from Saudi Arabia, and only 3 percent from Russia. I would stop importing from Russia, restore the Keystone XL Pipeline, repeal the Jones Act and encourage oil drilling & refining and fracking wherever possible.

The expansion of existing pipelines can handle more BPD than XLP would if it was built. I've posted the link to that many times.

As for encouraging oil drilling and refining/fracking currently, this is the status of leases.

Oil and gas companies are sitting on a huge cache of undeveloped federal leases:Nearly 14 millionout of more than 26 million acres leased to oil companies onshore are not in use, and more than 9 million out of a total 12 million offshore acres leased are not producing, according to the Interior Department.

Since this was published in January 2021 many more leases have been awarded. Time for the private sector to get to pumping.

What does the Jones act have to do with this?

I'm so tired of repeating that the Keystone XL pipeline has noting to do with US energy independence. How many times do we have to repeat the Canadian Tar Sands oil that would have been run through the pipeline was to be exported, by Canada,  (through a Huston, Tx refinery) to poor countries that didn't have our same pollution standards. By this point it's willful ignorance on the subject.

The Jones Act requires that ships going from one U.S. port to another U.S. port be built in the United States and owned and crewed by U.S. citizens. There are very few tankers and crews that meet this requirement. As a result, it costs two or three times as much to ship petroleum products from Gulf Coast refineries to East Coast cities (or from Texas producers to West Coast refineries) than it does to bring those products in from ports in faraway countries such as Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. So there is little or no port-to-port petroleum business within the United States.

Wonder if he's gonna crow about the agreement to release from the national reserves.  Between European allies and the US, it's agreed that there will be 60 million barrels released. The US alone will release 30 million barrels.  Only real problem is that average daily consumption in the US is just over 18 million barrels, so this isn't even 2 days worth.  The national reserves don't hold enough oil to really make a difference here.  We would be much better served if this administration would bring back some of the Trump energy policies and open things up again. But they seem to be driven by the extreme left so they can't do that.

When I was a kid, our neighbor raised, trained and worked blue heelers. I loved helping him work his cattle, because I loved watching his dogs work. I asked him, one day, how he got his dogs to listen so well. His reply was shocking and didn't make sense to me. He said that he choked his dogs, until they passed out, then he would sit, holding and petting them until they woke up. After that, they'd do anything, according to him, because he was the person that saved them.

I left it there. I still don't know if he was joking or not. But, I couldn't wrap my head around the idea when I was young. Now, I realize that I am, and have been, watching this practice day in and out, but with people. Bastards that are choking us, are the same ones claiming they are our saviors. It's all political theater, and we take in every show.

Predictions are fun.  Let's make some and see how close they are.  Yes, all of these are IMOs but not necessarily IHMOs.

IMO #1:  The overarching themes will be freedom and autocrats.

IMO #2:  Biden will open with Ukraine and portray that as a global forward march of freedom.  Ukraine will be an obvious rallying point that will garner applause.  Biden will highlight the dangers of autocrats.  And Biden will sprinkle in a lot of items that emphasizes he ain't Trump; which was his main campaign promise.

IMO #3:  Biden will claim the pandemic is over.  The timing of states lifting mandates hasn't been coincidental.  Biden will list accomplishments and make the case that he performed better than expected.  Expect Biden to announce a target date for lifting Federal mandates and restrictions.

IMO #4:  Biden will address the economy in terms of unemployment numbers and will make the case that Biden's green initiatives are creating jobs and expanding business.  Biden will likely make allusions to autocrats around the world creating uncertainty that is hampering the economy.  Biden will begin a indirect narrative that Xi Jinping is an autocrat in the same mold as Vladimir Putin.  And Biden will highlight how big government has avoided dire economic consequences.

IMO #5:  Biden will likely spend some time on a meandering recital of typical Democratic cultural and racial demagoguery.  Nominating the first Black woman to the Supreme Court is obvious red meat for the Democratic base.

IMO #6:  Biden will close with uplifting language about freedom and the dangers of autocrats.  The emphasis will be global cooperation and avoiding a 'go it alone' approach.

Can Biden ever hope to reach the soaring rhetoric of Kamela Harris trying to explain Ukraine to listeners of a black radio station:

"Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine so basically that’s wrong."

Maybe Biden will throw 'a bone' to the right wing as he explains high OIL prices and inflation by reminding them that Corporate Profits are higher than they've ever been.

I just watched his speech live..  Contrary to the belief of a few here I was able to watch it.  I saw Mitch McConnell stone face throughout.  Biden will be lucky to be allowed to accomplish any of his wishes to get the USA back on track again because the Republicans won't let him do it, especially because blocking such accomplishments and benefits for Americans might prevent Biden gaining favour for the Democrats at the midterms.  Welcome to American politics.

Remember the Russian oligarch and the $75 Billion or so that was supposed to be invested in Kentucky for an aluminum smelting plant?

Wonder if Biden's talk about Russian oligarchs made the hairs on McConnell's neck bristle in fear?

In an extraordinary breach of decorum, Rep.  Lauren Boebert  (R-Colo.) yelled out at  President Biden  during his State of the Union address on Tuesday, accusing him of putting American troops in coffins.

Biden was in the midst of discussing how many American troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan developed cancer from exposure to toxic smoke from massive burn pits.

"A cancer that would put them in a flag-draped coffin," Biden said. "I know —"

Agreed, she should have kept her mouth shut rather than yell out when she did.  There's a time and place for this and IMO it's not during a SOTU speech.  It can be done after.

Secondly when she & MTG started to shout out "Build the Wall" when Biden mentioned that immigration needs to be fixed.  Yes, this administration has made a huge mess of things at the southern border but again not during the SOTU speech.

Save that shit for your rebuttal to the speech.  Don't make an ass out of  yourself.  I'm sorry this habit of shouting out loud to attack the president was ever started.

And of course there was the Iranian instead of Ukrainian gaffe.
