Portrait Of A Modern Day Racist
“They’re raising him like a little White kid,” Martinez said in the audio released by The Times. “I was like, this kid needs a beatdown. Let me take him around the corner and then I’ll bring him back.”

Link to Quote:  https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/10/us/los-angeles-city-council-racist-remarks-leaked-audio

Decent people and the NAACP are united in calling for the resignation of one or more members of the Los Angeles City Council. What could bring so many different people including a LA Councilman together? It seems that the Council's president Nury Martinez made racist remarks about a fellow council member and his son:

"The remarks were part of leaked audio that was posted anonymously on Reddit and obtained by   The Los Angeles Times  . According to the newspaper, the audio details a conversation between Martinez, Councilmembers Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera.

Much of the conversation focused on maps proposed by the city’s redistricting commission and the councilmembers’ frustration with them, as well as the need to “ensure that heavily Latino districts did not lose economic assets” in the once-in-a-decade process, according to the Times.

The councilmembers then discussed Councilmember Mike Bonin, a White man. In clips of the leaked audio posted by the Times, Martinez is heard recounting a conversation and says “Bonin thinks he’s f**king Black.”

According to the Times, Martinez says Bonin appeared with his son on a float in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade and he “handled his young Black son as though he were an accessory.” The boy is 8 years old, according to a   Facebook post   by his father.

The Times reported that Martinez also said of Bonin’s child, “Parece changuito,” or “He’s like a monkey.”

In the leaked audio, Martinez can be heard speaking about Bonin’s son allegedly misbehaving while at the parade by hanging from a railing of their float, saying “this kid is going to tip us over.”

“They’re raising him like a little White kid,” Martinez said in the audio released by The Times. “I was like, this kid needs a beatdown. Let me take him around the corner and then I’ll bring him back.”

https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/10/us/los-angeles-city-council-racist-remarks-leaked-audio

Here is the clincher: After being exposed, Ms Martinez resigened as president, but remains on the City Council. I applaud the NAACP for taking the proper stand on this. However, this case demonstrates who the modern racist is. First off it is someone who has been indoctrinated/brainwashed in woke ideology. Please note the vindictive Ms Martinez has for whites. Now look at her picture above. That is clearly a white woman. Obviously, she was trained to think of herself as non-white. Wasn't that the purpose of the left manufacturing words to describe Hispanics and set them apart? The idea was always to convince Hispanics that they were something other than white.

Now let us consider her description of an 8 year old black boy:

"The Times reported that Martinez also said of Bonin’s child, “Parece changuito,” or “He’s like a monkey.”

That's standard racism, right?  The kind that once existed in many parts of the country?

Finally is her description of the boys deportment:

“They’re raising him like a little White kid,” Martinez said in the audio released by The Times.

That is a very odd assessment of what European white children are like. Where did she learn that?

Finally is the threat of violence:

“I was like, this kid needs a beatdown. Let me take him around the corner and then I’ll bring him back.”

How blatant is that?

Here is the President of the LA City Council initially concerned about Hispanics interests being underrepresented in a democrat controlled city. She goes into an anti-white racist tirade with fellow members of the council. How many of those members thought enough of the incident to report her? She got caught simply because  of leaked audio that was posted anonymously on  Reddit.  In other words somebody leaked it but was afraid to leave their name.

This woman was not born this way. This woman became a racist because of leftist ideology.

She was taught that there were two kinds of people: the oppressed and the oppressors.

We are appalled, angry and absolutely disgusted that Nury Martinez attacked our son with horrific racist slurs, and talked about her desire to physically harm him. It’s vile, abhorrent, and utterly disgraceful. The City Council needs to remove her as Council President immediately, and she needs to resign from office. Any parent reading her comments will know she is unfit for public office. We love our son, a beautiful, joyful child, and our family is hurting today. No child should ever be subjected to such racist, mean and dehumanizing comments, especially from a public official. It is painful to know he will someday read these comments. We are equally angry and disgusted by the ugly racist comments about our son from Kevin de Leon and Ron Herrera, who should also resign their posts, and by the tacit acceptance of those remarks from Gil Cedillo.

Affect is usually a verb, and it means to impact or change.   Effect, on the other hand, is usually a noun that you would use to indicate the result of a change.

I agree with the author completely until this statement. Most Latinos and Hispanics I know do not consider themselves white. Even the conservative ones. It doesn't matter how light skinned they are.

That does not change her racist comments more acceptable in any way shape or form. Or her blatant racist attitudes towards whites and blacks alike.

Also, if you read the article (I know that is asking too damn much); and referred to the picture- then you would know that she doesn't consider herself white- but Hispanic/Latino. Unless she is another self hating white leftist? There are a ton of them out there. Why don't you ask her and see what her reaction is?

Or some people fail to consider the influence of the colonial Spaniards, and to a lesser extent, the French in Mexico. Many Spanish were fair complected and light haired and their descendents are the same. My maternal grandfather was from Barcelona, Spain and had blond hair and blue eyes, but he did not consider himself white as he would very quickly tell you he was a Spaniard! In my extended family on the border, some are light complected while others are not. But don't ever call us white people because it would be taken very poorly!

You say a lot of crazy things on this site but this one is right up there near the top of the list.

OIP.okb1cyiqFxXkTURoLK4oSgAAAA?w=141&h=180&c=7&r=0&o=5&pid=1.7

She doesnt "look" white. She looks like a Latina. If her parents were Irish and German everyone would say she doesnt look Irish and German, she looks hispanic.

Secondly, in the United States people self-identify as to race. Many, but not all, people of mixed race self identify as the racial minority. The reason IS often because there is an internal pressure within the ethnic community to do so to maintain the pride and cohesiveness of that ethnic group. Barack Obama would be the most well known example of this I suppose. But does Obama "look" white? I doubt you would find very many people who think so. If he claimed to be white it would seem somewhat ludicrous.

Do you know what "race" Nury Martinez parents are?  I couldnt find that information but it appears at least one of them is non-white.

People of mixed race ARE non white, if that is their choice, and will be considered by MANY MANY white people to be non white based on their appearance.

When Nury Martinez was growing up in Pacoima, the child of immigrants from the Mexican state of Zacatecas, she watched politicians from afar.

They were white Jewish men, she said, even as the neighborhood became more and more Latino. Her own parents — her mother a seamstress turned factory worker, her father a dishwasher who was deported the year Martinez was born — had bought their home from a white family that left the San Fernando Valley for Kern County.

Their neighborhood was represented by "the Katzes of the world, the Bermans of the world," Martinez said, alluding to Valley politicians such as former state Assemblyman Richard Katz and former Rep. Howard Berman. "I never saw them in the community or at the grocery store with us. I just saw them on TV.

"Now we have Latinos in office. We hold each other accountable," Martinez added, sipping a michelada during an interview over lunch in Panorama City, a week before the political uproar that would torpedo her leadership of the Los Angeles City Council. "I think we are a huge political base."

Are Mexicans white Vic?

Many are.  This is the current President of Mexico:

th?id=OIP.96Keb0PAIcs370ShQ1pYfAHaEO&pid=Api&P=0

Those would be the straight decendents of Spain. There are also many mixed Mexicans...mixed with the aborigines of Mexico. Mexico happens to be a very racist country. It is usually those brown others that Mexico encourages to come here, along with the unemployed and the disenchanted.

Why should a Mexican self- identify as white?

White is white, John.

Will the white- European population of America consider Mexicans white?

I live in MA. We have a large population from Guatemala and Brazil. I have yet to meet one whom I do not consider white.

lol.

Sorry John. It will continue to be a majority white country, despite how many "others" Joe Biden is determined to bring in.

Vic, in the United States people self-identify their race. And there are a lot of hispanics who call themselves white. Thats fine.

For all I know Martinez parents might consider themselves white, but I guarantee you that the great majority of white-European Americans will not consider her parents to be white.

What was the purpose of you saying that she was "clearly" white?  Because you wanted to claim she has been indoctrinated to dislike whites. Which doesnt even have anything to do with the story, but you wanted to get your usual "marxist" indoctrination bs in.

Vic, in the United States people self-identify their race.

It's not that simple. The majority of the Black voting population was brainwashed and thus it became the only monolithic voting bloc. There was also an attempt by the left, to do the same with Hispanics. Many were brainwashed with the narrative that "we are a people of many races."

but I guarantee you that the great majority of white-European Americans will not consider her parents to be white.

I'm not sure if that was once true, but is not true now. After all, John, I'm positively declaring her white.

What was the purpose of you saying that she was "clearly" white?  Because you wanted to claim she has been indoctrinated to dislike whites.

As a group “Mexicans” are problematic for theories of race, and particularly for whiteness, because they demonstrate that race is not solely about skin color. Rather, whiteness signifies a complex of social meanings and statuses.[82] It can include class, social power (determined by factors such as ancestry, education, and community influence), and even religion and gender. Whiteness does not carry a stable set of meanings, but always refers to social status relative to other groups. Mexican Americans, for example, could assert some of the privileges of whiteness because they were not black.

Thus, it is not curious that Cadena would claim, “While legally white (anthropologically he is predominantly Indian) frequently the term ‘white’ excludes the ‘Mexican’ and is reserved for the rest of the non-Negro population.”[83] Here whiteness functions on at least four levels: legal recognition, scientific racial classification, social status, and racial “common knowledge” defined in a relational context. The latter two categories of racial classification are informal ones, based on how people apprehend their changing social world. For example, Cadeña recognizes that “Mexicans” are excluded from the category “white” and are not acknowledged as being social equals with Anglos.

Further, “Mexican” is defined in comparison to what it is not: neither white, nor black. (He does not mention Asians because they did not play a large role in the social structuring of his world.) Because race is relationally constructed, its meaning and very contours change according to the context in which it is situated. The unsuccessful effort to classify “Mexicans” as a race provides a compelling argument for “an understanding of races, not as absolute categories, but as comparative taxonomies of relative difference. Races do not exist as abstract categories, but only as amalgamations of people standing in complex relationships with each other.”[84]

Servants are usually dark-skinned, being the homeowners less darker, or naturally white-skinned. Soap operas or “telenovelas” and newspaper sections dedicated to high-class events are full of people who could easily pass as Europeans. The wealthy class –the one dominant in many ways– has little to no brown nor indigenous heritage. The spectrum of national beauty has one essential component: skin pigmentation; the closer you are to the Scandinavian –and with blue eyes– the better.

“Last night, I tell you, to watch that thing on television as I did,”  Reagan said . “Yeah,” Nixon interjected. Reagan forged ahead with his complaint: “To see those, those monkeys from those African countries—damn them, they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes!” Nixon gave a huge laugh.

Ronald Reagan's Racist Conversation With Richard Nixon - The Atlantic

What this councilwoman said was unacceptable and disgusting and the condemnation from everyone on the left was immediate. This is the big difference between the left and right. When someone on the left is exposed as being racist or caught with even the appearance of being a sexual predator like former Senator Al Franken, they are condemned by their fellows on the left and they lose their jobs. When it happens on the right all we hear are deflections and excuses, whether it's audio of them being openly racist, disgustingly misogynistic or claiming the dozens of accusations of sexual assault are all fabricated or were "from a long time ago" thus they no longer matter and are ignored by those on the right. They still revere Reagan even though his comments were clearly blatantly racist. In this case everyone who was even in the room and didn't speak up at the time but apparently laughed are being condemned by everyone on the left. Rightwing conservative hypocrisy truly knows no bounds.

Not just them, but Obama. Remember that his administration used the 1917 Espionage Act with unprecedented vigor, prosecuting more people under that law for leaking sensitive information to the public than all previous administrations combined. His Justice Department dug into confidential communications between news organizations and their sources several times.

"On Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, fifteen minutes before the scheduled start of an LA City Council meeting — the first since a tape surfaced of council members Nury Martinez, Kevin de Leon and Gil Cedillo that included racist remarks — protesters outside the Council Chambers chant, “What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!” (Photo by Dean Musgrove/Los Angeles Daily News)"

LDN-L-CITY-HALL-DM-04-1.jpg?w=450

"Scores of activists and protesters jammed the   Los Angeles City Council   chamber, anticipating this morning’s council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

City Councilwoman Nury Martinez — who resigned as City Council president on Monday amid a mammoth wave of outrage over racially insensitive comments she made in a recorded conversation last year — announced an hour before the meeting she was  taking a “leave of absence” from the council.

The activists marched inside City Hall before the meeting, walking right up to the council chamber’s closed doors and chanting the council members’ names — followed by “afuera,” Spanish for “out.”

Calls from other council members, city and community groups, and area politicians piled up throughout the day Monday and into Tuesday morning demanding the three elected officials in the conversation resign their seats."

A leave of absence indicates that she wants to keep a job of some kind. It also indicates that the Council is allowing her to do it.

Question: Why are so many of the protestors wearing the same T-shirts?

"As the scandal widened on Monday, civil rights leaders urged Martinez and other leaders to step down, saying her resignation as the panel’s president was not enough after audio leaked the previous day of Martinez using a racist slur when discussing a colleague’s son."
