He was the son of a historian. Born in Tel Aviv, he spent most of his boyhood in the US. He returned to Israel to serve in the elite military unit known there as Sayeret Matkal. He was part of the team that rescued the hostages on a hijacked plane that was parked at Tel Aviv airport in 1972. He would return again to the US to attend MIT from which he graduated with a M.B.A in 1976. Somehow, he managed to return home to fight in the Yom Kippur War in 1973. One day he would apply all of these experiences to being Prime Minister of Israel. It was though he was raised to be the young nation's most important leader.
To this man the state of Israel was indispensable to ensuring Jewish survival. He dedicated himself to that purpose. In 1993 he became leader of the Likud Party, mainly by way of his opposition to the 1993 Israel-PLO peace accords and the resulting Israeli withdrawals from the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In 1996 He became Israel's youngest Prime Minister. It was during this first stint as Prime Minister that he made a mistake, based upon either a change of heart or simply hope that an olive branch might work, that would forever influence his foreign policies. For whatever reason, he reversed his earlier opposition to the 1993 peace accords and agreed to withdraw troops from most of the West Bank. In "peace" talks with the devious Yasser Arafat which placed 40% of the West Bank under Palestinian control. The resulting event caused the collapse of his government, and it would take him a decade to once again achieve the office of Prime Minister. He would never that mistake again.
In 2009 he would again be Prime Minister. He then set a new economic course for Israel. Some may not know that Israel was formed by Socialists. The nation's economy was thus very limited. The solution was free markets and technology. Living standards improved. Suddenly Tel Aviv was developing a skyline. The new policy for the Palestinians offered an independent state with 2 simple conditions: 1) The future Palestinian state would have to be demilitarized. 2) The Palestinians would have to formally recognize Israel as a Jewish state. That generous offer was immediately rejected by Palestinian leaders.
He would again be Prime Minister in 2013. At this time, he had to fend off internal dissent, a hostile American president and the insane but real possibility that Iran would be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. It was then that he made a courageous decision. In 2015, he accepted an invitation to address the U.S. Congress regarding Iran. The invitation was the source of considerable controversy because it had been issued by the speaker of the House of Representatives without any notification of the White House. Israeli officials worried that his speech before congress could alienate one of America's political parties, but he made the speech and confined it to the danger of Iran getting a nuclear weapon. It may have been his finest speech.
Another term took place under the pressure of his political enemies trying to charge him (4 investigations) with corruption. Sound familiar? The corruption trial came to an end when prosecutors were found to have used, let us say dirty tactics and thereafter he won again in 2022. Thus far the term had been mired in controversy over legal reforms which would amend certain laws. This divisive issue plus violence in the West Bank which diverted much of the military from the Gaza strip may have set up & led to the Hamas attack on October 7th, 2023. This attack was well planned and well -coordinated. Hamas is backed by Iran as are many other groups which form what the Iranian regime refers to as "the ring of fire" around Israel. Right now, there is tremendous pressure on the state of Israel for "humanitarian" pauses and a possible cease fire. The American president is weak and heavily invested in restarting a deal with Iran. With the weight of history and the survival of Israel on his shoulders, the Prime Minister agreed to a pause to bring hostages home.
Israel's longest serving Prime Minister granted a pause but also gave the world a warning:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered a dire warning to America that it may be "next" if the IDF doesn't decimate Hamas during an interview with FOX News' Sean Hannity .
"We have to win not only for our sake, but for the sake of the Middle East, for the sake of our Arab neighbors. You know what, for the sake of Gazans who've been held by this dark tyranny that has brutalized and brought them nothing but bloodshed and poverty and misery," Netanyahu said Monday. "We have to win to protect Israel. We have to win to safeguard the Middle East. We have to win for the sake of the civilized world. That's the battle we're fighting, and it's being waged right now. There is no substitute for that victory."
"If we don't win now, then Europe is next and you're next. And we have to win," he later added.

Good morning.
I wonder how many have tried the German Christmas treat known as Stollen? It seems to go good with Coffee.
Today the four-day cease-fire between Hamas and Israel has now been extended by two days, in order for Hamas to play its hostage game and release another round of hostages while it prepares its fighters for the war that will eventually resume later. This will make the job of destroying the Hamas forces longer and harder. Hopefully it will be done.
One of the prisoners that Israel released immediately called for Hamas to spill more Jewish blood.

The new pause agreement has been violated by Hamas:
Hamas terrorists detonated three explosive devices near IDF soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip in the past hour and in one incident, opened gunfire at soldiers, in violation of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
A number of soldiers were lightly injured. The soldiers responded with gunfire at the source of the gunfire.
In both incidents, the IDF forces were within the agreed ceasefire lines.

I’m shocked that the subhuman pieces of crap that make up HAMAS violated the agreement said no one ever.
The question is how long before the apologists show up and blame Israel for this? Or make excuses for Palestinian pieces of crap?
We had them on here yesterday telling us that "both sides" need to stop.
"Both sides" implies a moral equivalence.
I wish I could say I'm surprised but then I'd be lying. I'm acutally surprised the cease fire lasted more than a few minutes.
It's sad that there are idiots here that will think this is the truth.
I call them the "both sides" idiots. The idea that the Palestinians are the oppressed and that the Israelis are the oppressors has been taught in US universities. We are now seeing the consequences.
In other news, which the media likes to devalue:
T wo women have been slapped with hate crime charges for allegedly attacking a Jewish person who confronted them on the Upper West Side for tearing down posters of Israelis kidnapped by Hamas, cops said Monday.
Mehwish Omer, 26, surrendered to police Monday morning and was charged with assault and criminal mischief — both as hate crimes — in connection to the attack on the 41-year-old woman at the corner of Riverside Drive and West 82nd Street just before 10 p.m. Nov. 9, authorities said.

Quite the contrast with Volodymyr Zelensky, isn't it? But then Zelensky was named man of the year by the unbiased liberal press while Netanyahu has been scorned and reviled.
At least we know where Quagmire Joe stands.
Good point.
Netanyahu is the Donald Trump of Israel, and that is not a good thing.
That makes a lot of sense/ S
That is part of the reason I wrote that testimonial to a great man who has been mocked by the left on this site.
The polls in Israel show Netanyahu's popularity plummeting.
That has happened before. Israeli voters keep coming back to him.
bibi is way past his expiration date in serving israel. whatever his legacy was in israel has been negated by his attempts to alter his country's judicial system to evade accountability for his criminal activities. gee, that scam sounds familiar...
He is no longer in legal jeopardy. You should have read the article.

The Chinese Communist Party is attacking the US directly by sending sick people over here. We should launch an all out nuclear attack on the red horde immediately !
Why not have the media do what they did in 2020? Blame the president.
Obviously you're in favour of my being killed. Thank you, John, I will act accordingly.
