Two precision strikes, a fiery hearing and a counterfeit rally.

Two precision strikes, a fiery hearing and a counterfeit rally.
"The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest in our home and made us sad, but it also prepared a harsh punishment for itself," Khamenei said on his website.

Today we have three major stories and one minor political one dominating the news. Yours truly will try to cover these events with the facts.

First is the precision strikes Israel delivered yesterday on two enemies of humanity. Israel struck a Beirut suburb in retaliation for a deadly rocket attack that slaughtered 12 innocent people, including children. Israeli officials said the strike in Beirut killed a senior Hezbollah commander. The site of that attack is a densely populated neighborhood that is regarded as Hezbollah's headquarters.

Ismail Haniyeh  Arash Khamooshi for The New York Times

In another strike (a missile strike) a senior Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, who was in Tehran for the inauguration of Iran’s new president was eliminated. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that Iran was duty bound to respond. The Biden administration has been consumed with trying to prevent a wider war. That is hard to do when all of the pressure for restraint is placed on Israel. I've been searching for news outlets who have given credit for these precision strikes which keep civilian casualties low. Thus far I haven't found many. All of this makes us long for the days when President Trump had placed effective sanctions on Iran and wasn't afraid to hold Iran accountable for all that happened.

Yesterday the acting Secret Service Director faced intense questioning from a joint Senate Committee. The exchange got very heated when Republicans cornered Acting Director Rowe:

Cruz has also previously blamed Secret Service’s efforts to diversify its ranks for distracting the agency from its core mission of protecting officials. During a podcast he released two weeks ago — after the Butler shooting — Cruz criticized the agency for its  efforts to have 30% of agents  be women by 2030.

Ted Cruz, Secret Service director fight over shooting | The Texas Tribune

Then there is the rioting in Venezuela. Venezuela has the largest oil deposit in the world, yet the people are living in poverty. One could argue that the origins of that country's economic problems are tied to Socialism.  Just 25 years ago, Hugo Chávez, helped pioneer a new form of Latin American Socialism based on oil receipts. In the beginning he was able to lift many out of poverty. It was easy then when Venezuela was prospering from an oil boom. It didn't take long for petroleum prices to drop, and Socialism couldn't function. Democracy was replaced with dictatorship and Maduro came to power.  In 2018, he barred major political parties and some opposition figures from running for office. The response from the US was sanctions and the Venezuelan economy was cooked. The rioting in Venezuela is related to the recent election which many called "fixed."  It is so hard to prove after it's over.

Finally, there is what I like to refer to as the Megan Thee Stallion rally. The performance by the rapper helped fill the 10,000 seats at what was supposed to be a Harris campaign rally.

31themorning-nl-kh-fmlw-jumbo.jpg

At the event Harris called on Donald Trump to commit to a Presidential Debate. Trump had committed to a second debate with the cognitively challenged Joe Biden, but the details of a debate with Harris have yet to be worked out. Meanwhile, the conservative organization CatholicVote.org , a "lay movement of committed Catholics" is now calling Vice President Kamala Harris one of the most anti-Catholic politicians ever. The organization has announced that it has launched a multimillion-dollar campaign in heavily Catholic swing states to try to defeat her bid for the Presidency.

In other news:

The Senate passed bipartisan legislation to protect minors online.

Kari Lake, who lost her 2022 campaign for Arizona governor after echoing Trump’s false election-fraud claims, won the Arizona GOP Senate primary. She’ll face Ruben Gallego, a House Democrat.

The Secret Service expected local snipers to cover the roof where Trump’s would-be assassin was positioned, the agency’s acting director said. A local official said his unit was not asked to do so.

Nearly 1,000 Native children died while attending boarding schools founded by the U.S. government, according to an Interior Department report that also detailed widespread sexual and physical abuse.

Meta agreed to pay the great state of Texas $1.4 billion to settle claims that the company had illegally collected facial recognition information on millions of users.

A Native American tribe once declared ‘extinct’ helps reintroduce salmon to the Columbia River .

Good morning.

Congrats to Fox News:

OIP.RtJ8ESDSzFrfo-6gRnAeYgAAAA?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain

Fox News Channel had its most-watched July in history as Americans relied on the network for  information and analysis  during an unprecedented cycle of breaking news.

The historic month featured ongoing concerns about President Biden’s mental fitness for office, the assassination attempt on former President Trump, JD Vance being named Trump’s running mate, the momentous Republican National Convention, Biden dropping out of the race and  Vice President Kamala Harris  emerging as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

During that time, Fox News averaged 1.9 million total day viewers to finish as the only cable option to surpass the one-million viewer benchmark for the jam-packed month. MSNBC managed 721,000 average viewers to finish second, while CNN settled for 523,000 to finish third, followed by Hallmark Channel, ESPN, USA and HGTV.

Fox News Channel has best July ever during historic news cycle, topping MSNBC and CNN audiences combined | Fox News

More Democrats are watching Fox News during prime time than CNN, according to data from Per Nielsen MRI Fusion.

The data shows Fox News is watched by 29 percent of liberal prime-time viewers compared to CNN, which garners 25 percent of those viewers.

It’s many more than a thousand the total number will never be known. It is about time that the government the RCC and some other religious groups admitted their part in the genicide of native kids. But we known that there are not a lot of balls in the RCC they are badly outnumbered by pedophiles, they hide behind their the bishops, cardinalslawyers instead of fessing up to the   they inflicted on native kids and their parents. Seems that the lay Catholics are trying to defeat Harris, not surprising poring their money into issues that would keep their secrets secrets and not helping the tens of thousands of kid that were damaged or died in their care.

These words came out of Jesse Watters mouth yesterday, on the air

“And to be a man and then vote for a woman just because she’s a woman is either childish — that person has mommy issues — or they’re just trying to be accepted by other women.” “And I heard the scientists say the other day that when a man votes for a woman, he actually transitions into a woman,” he added.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what Watters would call a man who WON'T vote for a woman, just because she is a woman ?  A conservative?  Fox News viewer?  A Jesse Watters fan ?

A lot of us hope the right wing keeps making these insane comments. It makes our work so much easier.

As for Harris having a rapper at her rally, I dont know much about Megan The Stallion, actually I dont know anything about her, but I doubt she has the moral baggage trumps rappers bring to rallies. At his fake reachout rally in the Bronx a couple months ago Trump was joined onstage by two rappers who are under indictment for various anti-social behavior related to gang activity.

Clearly, Waters is telling men to vote on issues and not identity.

Well, we will get to see a good comparison between the ability of the two to draw crowds as Trump & Vance will host a rally Saturday in the same arena that Harris was in in Atlanta.

Trump's evening rally Saturday at the Georgia State University's Convocation Center in downtown Atlanta will offer a visceral contrast of how the two campaigns are competing for Georgia, one of the most heated political battlegrounds on the 2024 map. Donald Trump and JD Vance to campaign together in Atlanta on Saturday (ajc.com)

It won't be a perfect comparison as the arena has a seating capacity of 8000 and there have been reports of larger rallies hosted by Trump. For example the Butler PA rally reports have the crowd at 20,000.

Yet the gop accumulated the most debt and started the recessions...

The spike that you see in 1983 represents the beginning of the ever increasing growth in entitlement programs.

Recessions occur when economic bubbles burst like the dot.com in 2000 tech bubble, disruptions to the supply chain like gas shortages in the 70's, and high interest rates from the fed to curb inflation.

Scoring them by presidential party is an indicator that the scorer knows little about the causes of either.

Scoring them by presidential party is an indicator that the scorer knows little about the causes of either.

Especially since its congress and not the president that controls spending and if you look at the 7.1.2 graph and put in where the democrats controlled congress and when the republicans gained control, which is most pronounced in Clinton's second term when republicans took full control of spending and Clinton was forced kicking and screaming into a close to balance budget.  And it happened again to Obama.

Funny how your debt doesn't include Biden- who is setting all new types of records.

Wonder how they will record the debt for his illegal student debt forgiveness and renters moratorium?

Nice bit of diplomacy.  Dear Leader Ali Khamenei, are you sure you want a wider war?  Netanyahu sends a message.  And it sounded a little like Trump.  Oddly enough, the ball is now in Kamala Harris' court.  Ain't it weird how these things work?

What has become markedly absent from our current political season has been the Paris Olympics.  Celebrations of national pride would be a buzz kill for the keffiyeh Democrats.  How many gold medals?  Democrats don't want to know since they've tied their horse to the weird wagon.  The magical 'They' tell us patriotism is so weird.  USA!  USA!  USA!
