The check the box debate
“I think it’s incredibly weak, weak sauce, to show up with your running mate,” CNN contributor Scott Jennings, a former special assistant to President George W. Bush, said on the air. He added that Harris had a “troubling lack of confidence in her political ability.”

Link to quote: Editorial: Kamala Harris's plus-one for CNN interview a negative for image (bostonherald.com)

Tonight at 9:PM CNN will televise a taped interview with Kamala Harris and her VP Tim Walz. Normally it is not a big deal to do an interview, but the Harris campaign has made it that way by not allowing either Harris or Walz to answer questions. The reason is quite simple. Harris has been snake bitten by interviews. Most damning for her have been follow up questions that have become deadly for somebody so dull witted.

CNN is a very friendly venue and the fact that the interview the public sees was actually taped earlier means that it will be edited to help save Harris and Walz. The questions should be obvious, after flip flopping on major policies on the eve of an election need to be explained. The recent call for price controls needs to be explained. The recent idea of a huge tax increase requires details.  Can she defend what she has done with all those tie breaking votes (more than 30 times) which helped to enact Biden's radical agenda.  Why can't she do an interview by herself? Does she regret helping to raise money for violent protestors? The follow up questions would tell us if Kamala Harris knows what she is talking about. The fact that Tim Walz is with her means that the likelihood of follow up questions are almost nil.

So, what is the purpose of this farce?

It is to end the criticism of her not doing interviews. After this she can point to this one.

In other news:

Israel’s military said it killed five militants in a gun battle in a Mosque in the occupied West Bank, as a large military operation there continued.

Two journalists in Hong Kong were convicted of sedition. Another blow to freedom of the press there.

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are on a bus tour in Georgia. Harris and Walz will appear on CNN at 9 p.m. Eastern for the first major television interview of their presidential campaign.

The Trump campaign is making a push in the Midwest. JD Vance visited Pennsylvania and Wisconsin yesterday, and Donald Trump will be in La Crosse, Wis., tonight for a town hall event.

The Supreme Court maintained a pause on part of Biden's attempt to forgive student debt, which he introduced after the court had rejected his more sweeping plan last year.

A damning IG report has been released on Biden's Gaza pier. It seems that the Defense Department always knew it was an impossible task, yet Biden demanded that it be constructed. The pier was only operational for 20 days due to rough seas. It cost $230 million dollars.

A judge granted Sarah Palin a new trial in her lawsuit against the partisan New York Times, saying the original trial had wrongly excluded evidence.

Certain states are keeping RFK Jr on the ballot. Will they do the same with Joe Biden?

Jack Smith is trying to keep a Trump indictment in the news. So much for the DOJ policy of not indicting candidates in the midst of an election.

Good morning.

Has anyone noticed how many Trump positions Kamala Harris has tried to hijack?

These are the rules that Biden demanded. Trump agreed. Harris originally wanted everything Trump agreed to.

That also means no notes for Harris the dummy.

And why does she need to sit down?

When Harris asks Trump what he was doing on the afternoon of Jan 6th he's going to pee his pants whether his mic is on or off.

Trump has demonstrated tremendous consciousness of guilt about this issue. It is childs play for a prosecutor to dig at it.

I have been on forums like this since 2001.

That is one of the most pathetic replies I have ever seen.

Your advice for Trump is analogous to a fire chief saying "I told them they needed to update their electrical system"  as an excuse for not sending his fire department to put out the fire at a burning building.

Such a fire chief would not have his job the next day.

Was that the mosque that was reported in which Hamas was operating an explosives factory?   Oh, the UN won't have anything to say about that, will they.  Just as the media really didn't want to reveal that the IDF killed 31 Hamas militants among the exaggerated numbers report of 100 dead at a UN school.  Again, the UN won't admit anything about that cause according to the UN and the media and the protesters the Hamas terrorist militants are heroes and the IDF are cruel unfeeling bastards.

Questions for Kamala via the editors of the National Review:

  • You have called for legislation imposing term limits for Supreme Court justices. The Senate Democrats’ term-limits bill would strip two of the sitting justices of the right to vote in most cases. Do you support that idea?

  • In your previous campaign, you called for banning fracking and offshore drilling. Is this still your position, and if not, what have you learned that has changed your mind?

  • In 2019, you said, “I strongly believe that we need to have Medicare for All” and released your own plan to move every American into a new Medicare system within ten years. Do you still support establishing a single-payer system? If not, why were you wrong then?

  • You supported abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement and “starting from scratch.” Would you still reorganize the government in this way, and if not, what in your experience as vice president changed?

  • After special counsel Robert Hur raised questions about Joe Biden’s age in February, you said the characterization “could not be more wrong on the facts.” But Biden showed signs of his age at the presidential debate that were consistent with that report and that ultimately led him to step down from the ticket. What do you say to those Americans who now question your judgment or your candor?

  • You say you are going to begin lowering prices on Day One of your administration. What would you do that the Biden-Harris administration hasn’t? And why hasn’t it done it?

  • Previously, on immigration, you have said, “We are not going to treat people who are undocumented and cross the border as criminals” and “an undocumented immigrant is not a criminal.” In your current campaign, you have described yourself as somebody who is going to be tough on the border. How do you square this?

  • In 2021, Biden announced that you would “lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle” and other countries to help with “stemming the migration to our southern border.” Do you accept any responsibility for the mass migration at the border that has happened during the administration?

  • In September 2022, you said, “The border is secure” and “we have a secure border.” Do you think our border is secure right now?

  • You have spoken about price gouging as the cause of higher prices. Is your contention that roughly $24 trillion in federal spending and $6 trillion in new public debt have nothing to do with the high inflation of recent years?

  • The tax increases that you propose are not enough to cover your other spending proposals. Do you believe that the $35 trillion in federal debt is too high? If so, what do you plan to do about it?

  • You now say you want to exempt tips from federal taxes. Why? Aren’t tips income?

  • You have said you support Israel’s right to defend itself. Does that mean you believe that Israel has the right to destroy Hamas? If not, how can Israelis be secure with Hamas still intact?

  • As president, will you continue the Biden’s administration efforts to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal? If not, would you support reimposing sanctions on Iran?

  • Would you provide material, logistical, and intelligence support to an Israeli operation aimed at preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon?

  • Should the Ukrainians be allowed to use U.S. weapons to target Russian forces in pre-war Russian territory, and if not, why not?

  • Would you militarily defend Taiwan against an invasion from the mainland, as President Biden pledged to do?

  • In 2020, you said, “I unequivocally agree with the goal of reducing the defense budget” and added that you wanted to send that money to “communities in need.” Do you still believe this?

  • Do you support the elimination of the legislative filibuster in the Senate?

  • Is there any stage of pregnancy in which abortion should be restricted by law?

  • Looking back at the Biden-Harris administration’s record, what would you have done differently if you had been president?

  • The Biden-Harris administration has suspended granting new permits to export liquefied natural gas. Maintaining the supply of LNG is critical to our European allies as they adjust their economies to the absence of Russian gas. Will you end the permitting “pause”?

  • In 2019, you favored spending taxpayers’ money to forcefully confiscate all 20-plus million of the most commonly owned rifles in the United States. Do you still want to do this, and if not, why not?

  • Were any of Trump’s tariffs mistaken? Follow-up: Then why hasn’t your administration moved to repeal any of them?

  • Governor Walz, you like to say your fellow Minnesotans’ motto is, “Mind your own damn business.” Yet you instituted a hotline for people to report on their neighbors during the Covid lockdowns, and you signed a bill that makes it possible to separate parents from their own children who seek “gender-affirming care” in your state. Do these things count as minding your own business?

As Maze on twitter said:

Just two weeks ago Dana Bash selectively cut a clip of Elon and Trump talking so she could present it out of context and claim that the two were downplaying the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Imagine the editing being done on tonight’s interview.

An official in the Denver suburb of Aurora is fed up with leaders in her state for allowing sanctuary policies that  rolled out the proverbial welcome mat to Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua  and the violent crime it has unleashed onto her community.

City Council member Danielle Jurinsky has served as a leading voice against providing incentives to migrants in Aurora — especially after the council passed a resolution in February saying it will refuse to offer aid for migrants from neighboring cities.

However, Aurora’s bigger neighbor next door — Denver — is a sanctuary city, which has continued to attract more migrants, many of them from Venezuela.

Tren de Aragua has come with them — and the gang is spilling into Aurora.
