Assessing the interview
Yesterday, after hiding from the media since being anointed as the democrat presidential nominee, Kamala Harris finally sat down for an interview which lasted 27 minutes. Let me start with Anchor Dana Bash. She did ask the logical pertinent questions, though there were some softballs and a multiple-choice question thrown in. She did the required follow ups and therefore
I have to give her a B .
As for Harris, she was better prepared than she has ever been, though she did a lot of deflecting and told some outright lies. Bash asked Harris about her stand on banning fracking in 2019. Harris responded with this whopper:
"I made that clear on the debate stage in 2020—that I would not ban fracking. As vice president, I did not ban fracking. As president, I will not ban fracking."
Can anyone find me where Harris specifically said that in 2020?
To her credit Bash came back with follow-ups on that one. Up until recently, Harris was committed to abolishing fossil fuel and banning fracking.
Harris was short on specifics and loaded with deflection like when she alluded to her proposal of $25,000 for first-time homebuyers. Bash followed up with: "After 3-½ years in office, why haven’t you done that already?"
Harris said that although she had changed her positions, she hasn't changed her values. That was a clear wink to the far left that once elected, she would return to her radical agenda.
Harris gets an F.
Finally, there was her radical vp who was asked about his claim that Trump would institute a national abortion ban. Trump has never called for a national abortion ban, saying that decision-making should be left to the states. Walz deflected. He also deflected when asked about comments he previously made about carrying "weapons of war," despite having not seen open combat when deployed in Italy in 2003 as part of America's war on terror, which was mainly fought in Afghanistan. Walz responded that he "struggles with grammar."
DANA: "You had said that you and your wife used IVF but it turned out you used a different kind of fertility in order to have children."
WALZ: "I certainly own my mistakes when I make em.. I think people know who I am."
Walz gets an F.

Well, looks like we know what jobs those peaceful immigrants have now--landlord, maintenance, building supervisor, security, community outreach advocate.
It truly is the land of opportunity.
"The city and Aurora Police Department, as we previously stated, established a special task force in collaboration with other local, state and federal partners to specifically address concerns about Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) and other criminal activity affecting migrant communities...."
It's not like the city isn't all over this, they have a special task force.
And they are "addressing concerns!"
What's radical about Tim Walz?
Start here:
Tim Walz’s Legacy From the George Floyd Riots - WSJ
Why don't you just answer the question?
Define radical in regards to Tim Walz.
Don't deflect to an article.
Why not?
You and others managed to deflect from THIS article.
I asked for an answer - not someone else's OPINION
I did.
Define radical in regards to Tim Walz.
Again, I provided an excellent example.
Don't deflect to an article.
Didn't you read it?
When I saw it was someone else's opinion, I didn't read much further.
That wasn't an answer. It was someone else's OPINION.
Not an answer. You obviously can't answer.
You got one.
Since you didn't read it: Walz stood by while Minneapolis 3rd precinct Police station was burned to the ground.
Um-hum.
It seemed full of usual tactics. Dance around the question with a bunch of unsolicited BS and avoid an actual, meaningful answer. Dodgeball 101
The WSJ called it "Smoke & mirrors."
And Walz proved he is as good at it as the best of them.
He is a stupid person's idea of a smart person.
That sounds like the former 'president'! Or should I say the majority of his cult.......a stupid person's idea of a smart person...but that smart person thinking they're a genius when they're clueless fucking moron.
Good one!
A mouthful.
What does that mean?
It was a long sentence.
Yes, and?
I forgot, some have to have the last word.
Just answering your question.
Still waiting on that answer. You deflected to someone else's opinion.
2.1.6
I guess I'll never get that answer. Not surprised though.
2.1.7
Safe to say the only people Kamala convinced with the 'interview' were already voting against Trump anyway.
So, as expected.
Kamala got to check a box and can now say truthfully: "See, I have talked to the press, I have!"
She needs a LIVE press conference without the benefit of knowing the coming questions. Yesterday did not impress. ( I say yesterday with the knowledge that the interview actually took place at 1:45 PM yesterday.)
I doubt her handlers will allow that ever.
They saw what happened with the last guy.
Just another fatuous, fractious, and fundamentally feckless Friday fantasy.[✘]

While Harris was being inteviewed , Trump was babbling at a "town hall". Trump is an incredibly bad public speaker, on or off the teleprompter, but he is graded on such a curve his fans think he is brilliant.
Does that make Harris' 'interview' any better?
Did it make her sound less evasive or smarter or more honest?
I was watching part of a rally or whatever it is he is doing, the former 'president' convicted felon and rapist was just talking. rambling, ranting, really low key, that Kamala doesn't care about this, Kamala doesn't care about that, Kamala doesn't care about you, essentially projecting, as usual. Face sweating and really low key, standing there, mumbling about Kamala. The only time it raised its' voice was to yell some garbage about allowing children to have sex change operations. I couldn't stomach anymore after that - and a random comment about abortion at any time even after the child is born. He's insane.
What a ranting raving mumbling stupid lying loser.
More deflection and denial and defaulting to Trump.
The expected deflection to Trump to try to cover for Kamala’s inability to do an interview.
Gee, is this yet another day ending in a "y"?
I don’t know if you caught Ari Melbur’s interview with Corey Lewandowski the other night, but it reminded me of your regular accusation that the media is too lenient on the biggest buffoon in US political history DT. It was so unlike Ari, but at one point in their dialogue he actually alluded that Trump “did fine in his debate with Joe Biden”. The takedown of Lewandowski was epic, but that comment turned my stomach. Saying Trump did fine in any debate is the equivalent of handing him a participation trophy.
Without a cult following and a timid media behind him, Trump would be considered one of the worst presidents as public speaker in American history. His speech is always off kilter at best. He emphasizes the wrong words in a sentence, repeats himself constantly, even within a single sentence or thought. He is objectively terrible.
But he has had political success so some people butter up his obvious failings as a speaker.

Even more deflection to Trump and denial of Harris' poor performance.
I don't know that I have ever seen a rational defense of Harris that didn't eventually, inevitably deflect to Trump.
It's really kind of amazing to behold!
"Dana, I think the — the — the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is my values have not changed. You mentioned the Green New Deal. I have always believed, and I have worked on it, that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time.
We did that with the Inflation Reduction Act. We have set goals for the United States of America and by extension the globe around when we should meet certain standards for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, as an example. That value has not changed." -- Kamala Harris

Is this what you mean on 'whataboutism', JR?
No, I think that would come into play when they interview Trump---THEN it is whataboutism!
As usual, you deflect and default to Trump, but the general consensus is that this interview was another disaster for Harris.
That simply is not true...
Good one!
general consensus
As Master Po would say - your bubble is tiny, grasshopper.
Reporters are searching for when Harris supposedly worked for McDonalds, but to no avail.
When did she work for McDonalds?
Right wing lackey media is searching for information about Harris working at McDonalds. The rest of us our laughing at this nonsense.
Who didn't work at McDonald's growing up?
Who cares anyway?
Do you remember when candidate Obama told us he once worked for a Baskin-Robbins?
Media flocked to the store. The owner of the Honolulu store said she became kind of a media expert because of it.
It is striking that nobody can point to where or when Kamala worked for McDonalds.
I never did.
Who cares anyway?
Curious minds.
I imagine it was beneath you.
Curious minds . . . lol
You did ask the question.
I said 'who didn't' - obviously not EVERYONE did, I and both of my sisters worked at the local McDonald's at the same time. I guess the upper crust don't have to worry about having to work.
Someone a stupid person would consider smart!!!!!
That may very well be an accurate depiction of the typical Harris voter.
Congrats!
Ummm Harris was being interviewed at 1:45 in the afternoon......................
Not to mention that the Trump townhall ended right before the showing of the Harris interview. So there was no overlap.
The media rarely (and NEVER here) indicates how many were militants. They only say "Palestinians", and If they possibly can, they will accentuate how many were children. They'll do whatever they possibly can to create Israel-hatred and antisemitism.
Question of the day:
Would this qualify as a word salad:
"The climate crisis is real that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time."
this should answer that question
The more she tries to sound intelligent, the less I am convinced.
Sums it up nicely.
Her sickophants won't care if she changes courses after the election if she wins. I think they are banking on it.
Oh HELL yes they are. They are certain of it. That's why all the waffling of late
Kamala's attempt to be in the middle of the road politically has now widened it into a new 12-lane highway.
She is trying to be all things for all people instead of just being herself.
She knows herself isn't all that and a bag of chips.
Second question of the day:
What is wrong with this picture?
DANA: "You said you carried weapons in war but you have never deployed actually in a war zone."
WALZ: "The one thing I'm never going to do is.. I'll never demean another member's service."
That is right up there with Harris saying "And I haven't been to Europe" when talking about our southern border.
Match made in Idiot Heaven.
There are certain members here lying and therefore demeaning Mr. Walz's honorable service for 24 years.
She gave Trump some stuff but didn't pull a Biden and fatally wound her candidacy. Not that you'd be able to tell from the pre written paeans to Harris from the same Biden cheerleaders who swore up and down about how sharp Biden was until he got stabbed in the back by the Pelosi mafia.
I doubt you'll see Harris do many more of these unless she gets really desperate. She's simply not an effective communicator which is why she's been refusing to do any media for weeks upon weeks. .
Not talking to the media allowed Joe's handlers to hide his condition. It was finally exposing Joe in the debate that ended his campaign.
I suspect, based on what we have seen thus far, Kamala's handlers will keep her away from unscripted interactions with the press as long as possible, thus not exposing her weaknesses.
She may well bamboozle her way into the WH, Lord help us all!
I think the American people as a whole are not fooled by this train wreck of an interview, and pretty much know what she really stands for. Kamala will unravel quickly if left alone to express her own ideas...They American people are way smarter than the lefties think. You can plainly see that some libs are getting very anxious about her considering the increasing numbers of articles criticizing Trump and Vance
Well, look at who has been running the country for the last few years to know the public is notoriously stupid.
And gullible.
Of course she would unravel if her handlers allow real press access.
Read the transcript of the 'interview'.
The lack of specifics is a true wonder, as are the deflections.
