The Commission on the National Defense Strategy Report
The congressionally appointed commission is bipartisan, and it recently released a report with dire warnings. It began with : “The threats the United States faces are the most serious and most challenging the nation has encountered since 1945 and include the potential for near-term major war.” The nation, the report continued, “is not prepared today.”
The report describes China, Russia, Iran and North Korea as “an axis of growing malign partnerships.”
Under the past three and a half years of a very weak Biden administration Russia invaded Ukraine and Iran’s proxies have brutally attacked Israel. China has rammed Philippine boats in the South China Sea and President Xi Jinping has directed China’s military to be ready to invade Taiwan by 2027. China taking over control of Taiwan would not only mean the betrayal of an ally, but it would also mean the loss of semiconductors that power modern life. China has been outpacing the US in the growth of the military for over two decades. Why hasn't the US kept up?
Here is the answer:
Source: Congressional Budget Office | By The New York Times
The report recommended increasing military spending, partly by making changes to Medicare and Social Security. In other words, Medicare and Social Security should only be for US citizens and it may be time to stop providing those benefits to those who have attained incomes of over 250,000 per year. Who will do that?
Two other problems the report mentions are: A Pentagon bureaucracy that’s too deferential to military suppliers. We all know about that, and it has gone on for a long time. Consolidation among defense contractors, which has raised costs and hampered innovation is eating up budgets. The other problem is A U.S. manufacturing sector that isn’t strong enough to produce what the military needs. Another thing we are well aware of. We let other nations undercut our own manufacturing companies.
I think I know the solution. It requires putting personalities aside and voting for is what is best for the country.
In the news:
Israeli warplanes attacked hundreds of targets in Lebanon this morning as part of an aerial offensive. Biden Administration spokesman John Kirby was on ABC and Fox News yesterday still talking about finding a diplomatic solution. He said, "If getting the hostages back is the goal, a diplomatic solution is necessary." Is that really the goal? Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would take whatever action is necessary to diminish the threat from Hezbollah.
Donald Trump has gained a 5-point lead over Kamala Harris in Arizona and is ahead in tight races in Georgia and North Carolina, according to polls from The Times and Siena College. Does this mean the honeymoon farce is finally over for Harris?
Congressional leaders unveiled an agreement to fund the government through December after Speaker Mike Johnson dropped demands for a longer-term deal that included proof-of-citizenship voting requirements. At least we found out where democrats stand on illegal aliens voting in our elections.
The authorities in the "Democratic Republic" of Congo released more than 700 inmates from the country’s largest prison to ease overcrowding after a deadly stampede. Gee, I wonder where those former inmates will go?
Good morning.
On September 18th, the UN General Assembly voted to hand the Old City of Jerusalem, home to Judaism’s holiest sites, to what it calls the “State of Palestine.”
The text of the resolution is quite radical. It begins with four pages of preambular attacks on Israel, in which Hamas and Palestinian terrorism are never mentioned. Then we get the 19 paragraphs that call for action.
These include a demand that Israel withdraw “all its military forces from the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including its airspace and maritime space,” which is obviously suicidal. All countries are asked to boycott Israel diplomatically and economically in paragraph 4d by:
Israel's response?
The UN isn't really what some once hoped it would be.
The UN building in Manhattan was constructed in 1952. It was fully operational in 1953 when I was 16 years old and taken during my summer vacation to New York City by my parents. We did some great things there, such as seeing the original cast Broadway shows of The King and I starring Yul Brynner and Guys and Dolls starring Stubby Kaye. But what really turned me on was my tour of the UN building, marveled at the fabulous artworks, was in the General Assembly to witness the iconic Krishna Menon speaking and I thought what a magnificent organization to bring and maintain peace and goodness in the world. The UN General Assembly at its home in Geneva had previously passed Resolution 181 for Israel, and what a wonderful world the UN would bring to humanity - such great hope for the future.
More recently I have wished that the Manhattan UN building would be bulldozed into the East River [removed] [✘] UN officials and the representatives and staff of the Jew-hating anti-Israel nations that form a majority of its membership.
THAT'S FORMER 'PRESIDENT' CONVICTED FELON RAPIST TRAITOR
at least we found out where maga stands on voter integrity and their ignorance of which party is more likely to violate it...
That is funny.
... not as funny as the thumper SOTH's unamerican fealty to a traitor with an attempt at a pointless legislative act.
Do democrats really need illegal migrants to vote for them?
Are their policies that bad?
How many Brian Pritchards do republicans need?
20 million to be on equal footing with the dirty dems.
You have an iota of proof for this or are you quoting Mr. Mendacity?
It could be more. Nobody knows.
Once Trump won in 2016, the left wanted vengeance. The old tool in the WH opened up the border and gave them everything they wanted.
It could be a baker's dozen at [most, deleted][✘]
Must be a gazillion!
One would think Trump's real name was Mesmer.
'10, 15, 20 million - nobody knows'
Other than conspiracy whisperer Laura Loomer.
list the undocumented immigrants that had votes counted. voter fraud by maga republicans actually happened.
That's the thing - some would have you believe that is how Joe won and the only way Kamala could win.
Those who dwell in actual truth/facts know better.
Mean to say dwell in reality - and deal in actual truth/facts
Troop readiness depends upon boot laces, underwear, razors, and ant-acid tablets. Hypersonic weapons are worthless without troops that can be fed, clothed, and housed. A national strategy would address the mundane necessities to maintain troop readiness by ensuring the United States retained a resilient manufacturing sector. Factories really are the first line of defense.
These so-called strategic thinkers have just been making it up as they go. The end of the Cold War was supposed to bring a peace dividend. But, like everything else, the supply-side globalists stole the peace dividend for themselves. Now these same money grubbers are trying to dump a false choice on the American people. If we are forced to choose between Social Security and the Marine Corps then SoSec gets my vote. Draft the money grubbers and shyster lawyers to fight the wars they want. It's neoliberals who are expendable. Make them sit naked in the trenches and maybe we won't need to raid Social Security for next quarters profit call.
You could have simply quoted Bonaparte.
Quoting Bonaparte would be stupid. Napoleon's battle strategy was rapid movement. (Yes, Napoleon Bonaparte invented the blitzkrieg to defeat the Prussians. Sorry to those who are infatuated with the NAZIs; the French really did it first.) Bonaparte's adage that " an army marches on its stomach " is about logistical support for rapid advance. Napoleon didn't seem too concerned over the shoddy shoes and boots supplied to his army.
So, the Napoleonic lesson is more forewarning than model to follow. But, as with most things, the actual facts have been twisted to fit complacent conventional wisdom. Perhaps that's why history is replete with blindsided blunders rather than foresight.
(BTW, that means the United States military may not be the best prepared and equipped military on the planet. That assessment depends more on boots than bombs.)

Trump is great friends with these people.
