America's savior

America's savior
Trump declared that “America’s decline is over” and that “the golden age of America begins right now.” He said a “radical and corrupt establishment has extracted power and wealth from our citizens, while the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair.

President Trump returned yesterday with a sweeping agenda and an end to the nation's four-year nightmare. He gave a speech that denounced the policies of the left, right in front of Joe Biden & Kamala Harris who were forced to listen to it. Then he signed dozens, maybe hundreds of executive orders. The first executive order rescinded all of Joe Biden's 78 executive orders.

He promised swift action on the economy, immigration, national security and social issues. He said he would invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 , to eliminate “foreign gangs and criminal networks.” He said it was now government policy that there “are only two genders: "male and female.”  He declared a national emergency over the U.S.-Mexico border, which unlocks federal funds to build the border wall and turn back more migrants. He also put restrictions on asylum and made border security a military priority. And he moved to end birthright citizenship, a controversial element that many believe pertained only to the children of freed slaves. The ultra leftwing ACLU has filed suit claiming that it is a right to everyone that the Constitution guarantees. Hopefully the SCOTUS will finally decide what congress meant in those turbulent years following the Civil War when the very ambiguous law was written.

21themorning-nl-EO-ztch-jumbo-v2.jpg

He directed federal agencies to investigate potentially unfair trade practices, especially those involving those with China, Mexico and Canada. He is forming a group to look specifically at trade.

He withdrew the United States from the Paris Agreement, an international climate pact which only the US seems to adhere to. He also got the US out of the WHO which the US spent $500 billion on and China with many more people only spent $38 billion on.

He stalled enforcement of a ban on TikTok for at least 75 days, giving ByteDance, the app’s Chinese owner, more time to find a way to find a buyer.

He ended remote work for federal employees and froze most federal hiring.

He pardoned the nearly 1600 people who have been languishing in jail all this time over the Jan 6th riots.

In the meantime, only hours before the inauguration, Joe Biden issues pardons for his corrupt family as well as Anthony Fauci and Jan 6th Committee House members.

Melania Trump wore a black hat with a wide brim.

Vivek Ramaswamy quit as co-leader of what Trump has labeled the Department of Government Efficiency in order to campaign for Governor of Ohio.

While signing Executive Orders and simultaneously holding a press conference, Peter Doocy asked President Trump if he had read the traditional farewell letter left in the desk by his predecessor. Trump, in his unique way reminded Doocy about priorities, noting that he was signing Executive Orders and answering questions as Zelensky & Putin waited for a talk on a peace deal and Melania waited for the President to dance with her at the Inaugural Ball. Doocy got the message as Trump put the unopened letter back in the drawer.

Trump personally summoned a mob to the capitol building in order for them to intimidate legislators into changing or delaying the vote count.   That is EXACTLY what happened.  When they were punished for illegal and in some cases violent behavior he set them free. That is also exactly what happened.  It is a blotch on American history that will go down in infamy.

There is a war now for Americas soul between patriots and MAGAs.

J6 amounted to a half-ass riot that was neither planned nor organized. It never came close to an insurrection. The real violence was perpetrated a small portion of the thousands of marchers there. Hundreds of the attendees were overcharged and over sentenced, simply by being in the building or on the grounds.

The lefties are fine ones to bitch and moan about pardons, considering the shameful examples set by the now departed never to be seen again Biden. The progressives have pumped up and promoted how awful J6 was to milk as much outrage about the day as they can. But it's over and done and now the normal and moral people are back in charge, faced with the difficult charge of repairing our broken country. It's time for the libs and lefties to grow up and move on.

He wants ByteDance to sell 50% of TikTok to a billionaire friend, in which case he would be bound to get some benefit himself.

But before we toot our horns about his threatened tariffs, let's consider how much the retaliations would be bound to cost Americans, especially those who live from paycheck to paycheck.

Most likely TikTok will end up banned in the US and its young users will only be left to remember that President Trump tried to find a way to keep it alive.

Maybe that is the best ending.

Oddly I have had a few experiences with Japanese natives (in Japan) where they seem to carry a grudge (likely from the Truman era).   But as a whole, my experience with Japanese people in their homeland is 99% favorable.   My position is that they are very friendly, cordial, basically nice people who care about their homeland.   They treat tourists well, but even so, there is a very clear notion that there are those who are genuinely Japanese and everyone else.

Given our far more adversarial relationship with China, I would expect that to translate into a larger percentage of nasty people on the fringe.

Jack, my comment was about your comment about instagrams, not about Chinese tourists.  But since we're on tourism, let me voice my opinion.  First of all, about the Chinese people generally.  Ever since I came to China I've been treated with respect, like family, and I've had the experience of people wanted to take photos with me, and even kids wanting my autograph for no reason other than I might have been the first white man they ever saw in their life.  I've been treated with the greatest respect by police and government officials, who in many cases have gone out of their way to make me comfortable.

However, if Chinese people who travel in the USA are not so nice, maybe it's because of America's history with Chinese people, such as how the railroad workers were treated back in history, the Chinese Exclusion Act, and you cannot deny the violent and disparaging treatment the Chinese-Americans were subject to when they were personally and individually blamed for the Covid pandemic.  Don't ignore what both Trump and Biden had done to contain China, block its advancement and hypocritically support Taiwan while saying they adhere to "The One Chjina Rriciple".  If I were a Chinese tourist in America those things might well be considered a reason for my suspicion and actions.  Compare that to how Americans were treated in China by the Chinese when the Americans were at war with Japan, such as how the ancestors of the Flying Tigers are venerated here especially when they visit.

Everyone is different Greg.  I can only make assumptions when it comes to that.  All I was saying is that maybe the tourists don't feel entirely comfortable, and maybe it's for good reason.  I didn't feel that comfortable when I entered Jordan to tour Petra.  I wanted to see it, and I was quite UNCOMFORTABLE when our minibus was stopped by some armed Jordanians, and our Jordanian driver talked them into letting us get by.   I didn't feel that comfortable in Morocco when I saw the way some men looked at us.  Who knows, I might even have appeared to be rude.

To see the sights, to experience the cuisine, to learn of the culture and history.   The very concept of a tourist is that you are there temporarily and for a short period of time at that.

For example, 10 years ago my wife and I went to Turkey as part of a cruise.   We wanted to visit Istanbul to see Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque (among other things).

Feeling welcome was not expected and not achieved.   It was an awkward experience for all of us but none of us regretted visiting Istanbul.

Sorry, that's nonsense.

If you have a grudge against someplace, don't go.  If you do go, behave yourself when you get there.  There is no excuse for going to somebody else's country and treating the locals poorly.

Above all, do not elbow people off a narrow hiking trail or shove them out of the way for a better angle for your photo.  One of those women you're pushing around might just have a 6'4" father or husband willing to correct that behavior without regard to how unpleasant you might find the experience.

Add to that, when a National Park Ranger tells you to stay 50 yds away from the damn Bison, you might wanna listen.

TBF, we don't get a lot of Chinese tourists in Dallas.  Which seems odd, because we get them from every other Asian & European country in pretty good numbers.  Everybody likes to come to Texas to "get their cowboy on" and see the grassy knoll.

My experience was primarily at Yellowstone National Park.  The number of Chinese tourists we saw with serious disregard for their own safety or anyone around them was surprising.

I'll put it to the fact that it was not long ago that Chinese people could afford to travel to the other side of the world, and I guess they might not yet have learned how to be good tourists.

But I was a tourist twice in Dallas, although I was there for a specific purpose each time and I enjoyed both experiences,  I wasn't rude to anyone nor was anyone rude to me, but then I wasn't Chinese.  LOL

I dunno, the first time this piece of shit was PotUS I maintained my faith that normal people could assume power again. Trump lies and right here in your commentary we see reflections of the same.

Trump is "The Party":

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” ― George Orwell, 1984

Four years more of destructive, self-centered and delusional crap. Hopefully, the goodness in Americans will reawaken in time to save our country. His timing is kind of off, though. The destruction of America and American values began the day he stepped foot into the political arena. He is not a savior, but a malignant force who just barely was elected and now claims that 1.48% difference to be a mandate to destroy what has taken years to build. He made promises that he cannot keep, practiced revisionist history, and flat-out lied to his country to eak out that slim margin. Let us just hope his stain can be wiped from our country.

Up the page a ways you claimed that you dealt in fact, not theory. Your characterizations of events in the bulk of your commentary give lie to this assertion.

They were forced to listen:

GhxvvKQWcAAMGWd?format=jpg&name=small

"For many years, a radical and corrupt establishment has extracted power and wealth from our citizens while the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair.

We now have a government that cannot manage even a simple crisis at home while, at the same time, stumbling into a continuing catalogue of catastrophic events abroad.

It fails to protect our magnificent, law-abiding American citizens but provides sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals, many from prisons and mental institutions, that have illegally entered our country from all over the world.

We have a government that has given unlimited funding to the defense of foreign borders but refuses to defend American borders or, more importantly, its own people.

Our country can no longer deliver basic services in times of emergency, as recently shown by the wonderful people of North Carolina — who have been treated so badly and other states who are still suffering from a hurricane that took place many months ago or, more recently, Los Angeles, where we are watching fires still tragically burn from weeks ago without even a token of defense.  They’re raging through the houses and communities, even affecting some of the wealthiest and most powerful individuals in our country — some of whom are sitting here right now.  They don’t have a home any longer.  That’s interesting.  But we can’t let this happen.  Everyone is unable to do anything about it.  That’s going to change.

We have a public health system that does not deliver in times of disaster, yet more money is spent on it than any country anywhere in the world.

And we have an education system that teaches our children to be ashamed of themselves — in many cases, to hate our country despite the love that we try so desperately to provide to them.  All of this will change starting today, and it will change very quickly.

My recent election is a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal and all of these many betrayals that have taken place and to give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy, and, indeed, their freedom.  From this moment on, America’s decline is over."

My view is that you ignore important facts.

You keep making that claim yet you do not show the facts that I ignore.   You have your beliefs (typically partisan) that you think are facts and are upset when others do not accept what you declare to be facts.

In short, what you call facts are mostly partisan bias on your part:

it was Biden who allowed all those migrants into the country

[Exaggeration]  The number of illegals in the nation has been stable between 10 and 12 million since Bush.   You think we have been invaded and that is just Trump bullshit.   Biden's failure at the border did not materially increase the number of illegal immigrants as you claim.

it was Biden's legislation/spending which caused the inflation

[Partly Correct]  As I noted earlier, Biden's spending contributed to inflation.  You exaggerate this and claim that it is what caused inflation.   Your 'facts' are exaggerations.

it was Biden's weakness that led to two wars.

[Unfalsifiable Partisan Claim]  This is just simplistic partisan bias.   You apparently believe what Trump says and repeat it.   There is no way to determine what Putin would have done if we had a different PotUS.   But common sense shows that if Putin thought Biden was going to just roll over then his calculation was wrong.   Biden stood up to Putin, organized international opposition, imposed sanctions, provided Ukraine with weapons, etc.    Anyone (like Trump) can make grand claims;  the key is for people to be smart enough to recognize bullshit from verifiable fact.

Trump also said that he would end the war with a phone call.   A grand claim.   It was obvious bullshit.   Just like his claim of dropping energy costs by 50%.   Stay tuned, because much of what he claimed is outrageous bullshit.

I oppose the stupid things he has done and will do.   And anyone who pays attention to what Trump has done and said should be able to see that he is going to make more stupid moves.   He is unfit for the presidency.   He is bad news for this nation and unfortunately the only way his blind supporters will see this (if ever) is for the people to experience the pain of his stupidity and arrogance.

One earns the label 'die hard MAGA' based on an expressed philosophy that illustrates a disposition to believe and/or support most everything Trump says or does.

According to your ridiculous exaggerations, I would be die hard MAGA because I (as of now) support Trump's AI initiative, support the principle of reducing illegal attempts to cross our borders, support the principle of making the USA more self-sufficient, support the principle of going after genuine waste in government,  etc.

The problem with Trump is that he is unfit to serve as PotUS.   He is an embarrassment to this nation on the world stage.   He comes up with utterly stupid notions (e.g. Gulf of America, taking back the Panama Canal, violating jus soli, imposing absurd tariffs prior to negotiation, etc.) and he is an irresponsible, vindictive, narcissistic, loose-cannon asshole who does not heed wise advice.

Someone merely criticizing the Ds is not necessarily MAGA.

I observe a substantial amount of irrational, wrong, exaggeration in lieu of thoughtful rebuttals.

You don't have to out words in your posts thinking someone does not know what they mean and you got one over on them.

I know what jus soli means and I think it was a good idea, albeit it will be challenged in court for some time.

Do you recognize that the 14th amendment was written to give previous slaves full citizenship upon birth? It was written to repeal the 3/5 recognition of blacks and population for Congress representation.

"Subject to the jurisdiction thereof" has been interpreted several different ways but no one born to non citizens, especially illegals, are subject to the jurisdiction of the US, as they are still subject to the jurisdiction of the country their parents are from.

Whether you like it or not, Trump did the right thing, KNOWING that you, et al, will be whining about it and causing it to get decided by the Supreme Court.

It is statements like the one quoted that explain why it is difficult to take some members of this forum seriously. Neither the left nor the right was overwhelmingly elevated or decreased in stature this last election. The balance of power shifted, but only as a result of a very few seats in government changing. The popular vote for the Presidential election was very close, as it was for the past three cycles. It would be quite amazing, therefore, for even a politician to claim an overwhelming mandate to rip up the governmental structures that have been emplaced over the history of the country, yet this is what Trump is doing, and I feel that he is doing the wrong things for all the wrong reasons.

Glad I can make your day so early.

What those on the left do not, and apparently will not, understand is that their rhetoric over the past four years chased many people from the democratic party. The democratic party is now a party of snobbish elites who care nothing about the working class. Trump demonstrated that he does, whether he keeps up that promise, that is to be seen, but the left just doubled down on stupid when it came to trying to connect with voters.

Many of us said over the past several years that name calling and false accusations were what will lose the election for the left, and we were right. You would think that they would tone down the name calling rhetoric after losing, but no, they have to double down on it.

I would highly suggest the democratic party go back to their roots of being for the people, or they will have to tolerate not only four years of Trump, but probably eight years of Vance.

See, you keep making me smile and laugh. After all, I am discussing this with you.

Trump is a threat to democracy because he does not believe in democratic ideals, as proven in his continued lying about the 2020 election. Just because you can't admit this does not make it untrue.

And I will bet dollars to doughnuts that Obama is not "sucking up" to Trump. He may be engaging him politely, but that is because he is a statesman, quite unlike Trump. The same thing goes for the rest of the adults in the room: They have to work with the present administration, like it or not, and acting antagonistically just makes this harder. Note, please, that this fact never stopped Trump from antagonizing people, probably because he enjoys it.

If that is the case, then he would have proven that eight years ago, and he didn't. I know the left's go to was J6, but we all know that there was no insurrection, just an excuse for leftists to scream about Trump, nothing more.

"as proven in his continued lying about the 2020 election. "

Then you will agree that several democrats are also a threat to democracy as evidenced by them denying Trump was the legitimate president in 2016. It is easy to look up if you want to know the truth.

"He may be engaging him politely, but that is because he is a statesman,"

Yes, because saying republicans are clinging to their guns and religion is statesman like s/

"They have to work with the present administration"

Then you agree it is a 180 from 2016 to 2020 when these same democrats....and more, did everything they could to disrupt Trump's first term. Not to mention the bs charges filed by a corrupt New York DA, Atlanta DA and federal prosecutors.

If it is found that there is indisputable evidence that Biden engaged in corrupt activity during his VP term and before/after, you would be OK to have charges filed against him, right?

Trump has proven that he is unfit for office and has no use for democracy if not every day of his adult life, then at least every day since 2012.

Your commentary on this site has demonstrated an inability to deal with facts as they exist and a need to distort history and present until it fits into your "story" of what is occurring. That is a pity. I am sure you know the old saying, "Fool me once, shame on you..."

This bending over backwards to defend Trump might be viewed as noble if somebody could show that he wasn't just trying to be king, if someone could show where he is humble on any occasion, or maybe not just a plainly mean person. You can't. The commentators on this site cannot either. Because he is mean and he obviously wants to be authoritarian, he wants to have everyone under his thumb and fearing his retribution. That's the way he likes it. Trump will destroy this country if left unchecked. He is already doing a pretty good job of it.

Your refusal to hold Trump accountable for the insurrection that we all watched is telling, as is your refusal to call it what it was: an attempt to keep Trump in office despite the will of the people.

I hope you wake up before it is too late.

I haven't seen it. Maybe you could show us this dealing in facts? Denying them or saying "that doesn't matter" is not the same as dealing with them, and saying that the left has none to offer is a sure sign of delusional thinking.

I spent 20 years in the Navy and saw things far worse than Trump. What you don't realize is that this country has checks and balances to keep someone from doing what you are whining about.

Thanks for your service. The checks and balances only work if most of the players are dealing in good faith. Trump doesn't do this. Quite a large part of our elected representatives also do not. I am sure that you have seen many people who are like Trump in that they care only for themselves. The type that would sell another down the river if they thought that it would gain them personally. How does that go over in the Navy? Not very well, I would imagine.

I don't know what you watched, but I watched a riot by a bunch of idiots get out of hand. How many people were charged with insurrection for that day?

None, and more is the pity. It was an attempt to impede the Constitutional processes that formalize the election which Trump had falsely claimed that he won. Four members of the Proud Boys and two members of the Oath Keepers were sentenced for seditious conspiracy.

What Is Considered Insurrectio n?

While the term "insurrection" is not explicitly defined by federal law, courts and legal scholars generally interpret it as a violent uprising or organized resistance against the government or its regulations.

Insurrection often involves acts intended to overthrow, disrupt, or challenge the authority of the United States or impede the enforcement of federal laws.

And

On March 2, 2022, Oath Keeper Joshua James pleaded guilty to seditious conspiracy, admitting in his plea that "from November 2020 through January 2021, he conspired with other Oath Keeper members and affiliates to use force to prevent, hinder and delay the execution of the laws of the United States governing the transfer of presidential power ."

A full accounting can be viewed here. If you poke around on the database you will see where many had been bragging about the President being the reason they were there and that their intent was to stop the transfer of power or even to destroy the government, kill everyone they could find, you know, nice stuff like that.

Thank you

"Trump doesn't do this. Quite a large part of our elected representatives also do not. "

So you are essentially admitting is that Trump is simply a politician out for himself, as evidenced by you admitting most politicians are. So why always want to single out Trump as if he was the very first one in the history of this country to do so? That is being dishonest at best.

"The type that would sell another down the river if they thought that it would gain them personally. How does that go over in the Navy? Not very well, I would imagine. :

It has been 20 years since I retired, and during my time in, no one would sell the other down the river, however, in the age of woke and DEI corrupting the military, I would not doubt if it is happening today. Hopefully Hegseth will eradicate this way of thinking quickly.

"None, and more is the pity. It was an attempt to impede the Constitutional processes that formalize the election which Trump had falsely claimed that he won. Four members of the Proud Boys and two members of the Oath Keepers were sentenced for seditious conspiracy. "

I think very few people believe that none of these people should have been charged, but there are many that believe they were overcharged. No reason for someone who did not enter the Capitol gets several years in prison for trespassing or parading. That is just simply an overzealous prosecutor out to make a name for himself and get a cush job if Harris had won. Thank God that didn't happen.

"If you poke around on the database you will see where many had been bragging about the President being the reason they were there and that their intent was to stop the transfer of power or even to destroy the government, kill everyone they could find, you know, nice stuff like that."

No one is arguing this. Problem leftists have is they keep saying Trump incited the riot but can't come up with anything that backs that up. It is time to give it up and sit back and see what happens during this admin. If Trump TRULY screws up, then one can complain, but to complain just because the name is Trump is not productive to this country moving forward.

Do you actually want Trump to deport 11 million illegals?    Do you want him to impose ridiculous tariffs?

Do you BELIEVE that Trump will end the Ukraine war with a phone call while president-elect (... nada ...)?   So instead do you believe he will end the war within 24 hours of being PotUS (well, that did not happen either)?  Then do you believe he will end the Ukraine war over some unspecified period of time without throwing Ukraine under the bus?   Do you believe he will drop energy prices by 50%?   Do you believe he will lower the CPI?    Do you believe he will end taxes on overtime and tips?

I want more than 11 million deported.

Do you want him to impose ridiculous tariffs?

That depends on the response of those facing tariffs.

I believe that Trump has some good cards to play. Zelensky knows by now that he can't win militarily. Putin would love a way out. Obviously, there will be a certain amount of time for negotiations. What each side is going to get is fairly clear: Zelensky needs a real guarantee, short of NATO membership that Ukraine will be protected from any future invasion. Putin will need to keep what Russia controls.

Do you believe he will drop energy prices by 50%?

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in CA is currently at $4.39.
AAA Fuel Prices

Getting them down to the $2 range is very realistic.

Do you believe he will lower the CPI?

A lot of that depends on congress, but if anyone can do it, its Donald John Trump.

Do you believe he will end taxes on overtime and tips?

Absolutely and I'll go right to you when he does it.

I want more than 11 million deported.

So basically you do not care about the costs, the impact on the economy, the logistic implausibility, etc.   You just 'want'.   Lovely.

That depends on the response of those facing tariffs.

The response to Trump imposing tariffs will be counter tariffs and likely trade wars.     Especially when dealing with China.

Putin would love a way out.

That has been under his control since the beginning of the war.   Putin is not interested in a way out, he wants to prevail.   The only way that will happen is for Ukraine to lose.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in CA is currently at $4.39.

Does not answer the question.   We are already producing at record levels and there is little interest in oil producers to invest in new drilling projects.   So what, exactly, does Trump's mantra "drill, baby, drill" translate into in reality?

Also, the average price for a gallon of regular in the USA is $3.129.

Getting them down to the $2 range is very realistic.

That would require a substantial increase in production (we are already breaking records); but that is not going to happen.   Alternatively, a substantial reduction in demand (not likely ... especially with Trump trying to kill alternative energy).   Reducing taxes on gasoline would help (yet there go revenues).   Not much one can do about the world market for oil other than diplomacy (not bloody likely with Trump).

We could of course have another pandemic which would certainly kill demand and lower prices.

A lot of that depends on congress, ...

No it does not.   It is primarily a function of the market.

... but if anyone can do it, its Donald John Trump.

Hero worshiping Trump.

Absolutely and I'll go right to you when he does it.

All of it was a total nightmare for the American people.

What a screwed up perception ... thinking that we have been experiencing a nightmare rather than recognize the damage that an irresponsible, narcissistic buffoon like Trump could do to this nation.

Biden's spending exacerbated inflation.   That is the rational economic view.   Your view is (of course) that ALL of the inflation was a result of Biden's spending.   If we apply that simplistic partisan thinking then we can expect a rise in inflation under Trump.

Trump will NOT be able to cover his spending with his tariff nonsense.   He WILL incur plenty of expenses with policies such as deportation.   He WILL further exacerbate prices as a consequence of his tariffs.

So those who voted for Trump because they believed he is going to reduce prices and keep inflation low (it is currently at a normal level) are unfortunately in for a big surprise.   Although, no doubt, Trump will blame Biden for his own failures and Trump supporters will simply accept that and repeat it.

You mean that prices will stay high even if energy costs go down?

For the most part, yes.   Recognize that suppliers do not just automatically and immediately pass on cost savings to their consumers (they will pass on cost increases more quickly).   So prices will stay stable until competitive forces start driving them down and that takes time.

Now a substantial reduction in energy costs would have a more immediate effect since the cost savings would be so obvious ... no excuses.   The trick, of course, is how one pulls off that magic.

Trump's claim of dropping energy prices is total bullshit.   The USA is not at a shortage for domestic fossil fuel harvesting;  we are already producing at a record level and are the world's leader in oil production.   There is no current driving need for oil companies to invest in new (very expensive) drilling projects.   Thus, they are not going to do so.

What do you think "drill, baby, drill" is going to do to lower energy costs by 50% (Trump's claim) or anything close to that?

Sure, US production will naturally increase to try to fill the gap for those products that we can make domestically.   My point has been about prices .   You seem to have missed that.   What do you think this will do to domestic prices ?

Further, how exactly do we deal with not importing the various rare earth elements from China that underlie much of what we produce — especially technology?   It would take quite a bit of time to find alternate suppliers in sufficient quantities (and with similar prices).   In the meantime, what do you think will happen to our economy?

Washington —  The Senate on Monday approved a bill known as the Laken Riley Act aimed at expanding the federal government's mandate to detain immigrants who are in the country illegally, as congressional Republicans look to deliver for President Trump as he enters office.

In a 64 to 35 vote, the Senate approved the legislation, with 12 Democrats joining all voting Republicans in favor. The measure marks the first policy legislation of the new Congress, which the House approved earlier this month before the Senate amended it.

The House will need to approve the Senate's changes before it can head to the president's desk.

The legislation has also sparked questions over whether Immigration and Customs Enforcement could fully enforce this new mandate without more funding, since the agency is currently using roughly 39,000 of 41,000 detention beds funded by Congress. The Department of Homeland Security is mandated under current law to detain noncitizens convicted of certain crimes, including "aggravated felonies," or serious offenses like murder and sexual assault.

Trump just cut $541 Billion in wasteful government spending.  There's the needed funding.  I'm sure physically removing illegals from witin our borders will open a lot of beds as well.

So, you think that prosecuting somebody who deliberately made a false statement (and they knew the laptop was real) to interfere with an election is an act of revenge?

Why should they get away with it?

Sorry, under the new fascistic-oligarchy, logical consistency is no longer a necessary attribute to argumentation. But, if you think about it for about a microsecond, they were exercising their rights to free speech, just as Trump has on the numerous occasions when he has lied about things like the 2020 election being rigged, et.al.

I'm not sure which NY case you want me to comment on, but in both cases Trump was found guilty of committing business fraud, so yeah -

It's real when they can prove it in a court of law.

Which they did.

The law hasn't.

Please back that statement up with supporting evidence that Trump wasn't found guilty of business fraud.

Well, this is the first inauguration I've seen that was given wall-to-wall coverage all day.  I don't recall so many rallies and celebrations where most of the attendees were just ordinary people.  I only watched bits and pieces but some of what I saw really stood out.  Martin Luther King, Jr. attended Trump's inauguration in prayer.  Lorenzo Sewell wasn't timid or guarded in his praise.  God was given full-throated praise, shouted to the mountaintops, in the Capitol Rotunda -- when's the last time that happened?  Carrie Underwood had the balls to sing America the Beautiful acapella.  Those in attendance sang along without flourishes or embellishment -- America united.  That moment was pure, genuine, and perfect for the occasion.  Frankly, a musical score in the background would have ruined the moment.

There was one moment that grabbed me by the throat and shook me around until I paid attention.  It was at the end of the post-inaugural rally when Steve Witkoff spoke about the Gaza conflict and peace deal.  Witkoff called the relatives of hostages to come onto the stage; typical political kitsch.  And then something unexpected happened.  The people shuffled across the stage, tripping over each other.  A tall man was stopped in front of Trump waiting to move on.  It was possible to see the moment this guy said to himself "to hell with this"  and he reached up to shake Trump's hand.  And Trump didn't hesitate.  Everyone else on stage wanted to shake Trump's hand, too.  That wasn't on the program but it was okay.  What struck me was that simple act of courage was actually the theme of the day's events.

Simple acts of courage by unimportant, unknown people are what unify us.  That's what we've lost.  We're aware of the loss even if we don't recognize it.  IMO that's one of the hopes people have for the Trump Presidency.  We're hoping the country can regain it's courage.  It's not really about winning, as Trump likes to say.  It's about trying.  It's really about unimportant, unknown people overcoming their temerity and reaching out to do something good and worthwhile.  That's really what unity is about, isn't it?

And of course you follow the Trump lead and consider those who oppose Trump to be doing something wrong "resistance members" rather than recognize that those following Trump are supporting a vindictive, narcissistic, loose-cannon, traitor who will use the office of the presidency for his own good rather than treat it as a solemn duty and responsibility to the American people.

General Milley told General Li Zuocheng that there was no intention to attack China and that all is stable in the USA.   To assuage his concerns he told him that he would inform General Li if any attack were eminent ... that no surprise attack would occur.   His purpose was to reduce military/political tension given the loose-cannon flapping his jaws in the White House.

There should NEVER be a surprise attack by the USA on China except in result of extreme provocation by China (China makes the first move).

Trump is an irresponsible asshole.   You will be trying to defend an irresponsible asshole for four years against criticism based on overwhelming supporting evidence.

I'm not sure why there are SO many people "surprised" - if anything, Trump is keeping his campaign promises.  I don't agree with him and his mouth-piece calling rioters, insurrectionists hostages - they're criminals plan and simple.  Cops are up in arms, playing the sympathy / scared role - don't worry, you'll still get to kill non-whites with impunity.  You just now have to watch out for whites kicking your ass and getting away with it even more.  What was kind of scary for me watching that was he had no clue what commutation meant, but at least he admitted without admitting he didn't know who was getting pardoned.  That was a George Washington moment - "I cannot tell I lie, I don't know what the F I'm signing.  But see, I'm using a bigly marker!!"

I must admit, pardoning Silk Rose Ross was a bit of a shock.  I didn't know that was one of his campaign promises but hell, he let the J6 killers and mobbers go, why not the money-laundering, drug dealing, help set up hits Ross.  Dark Web 4.0 here we go.

The birthright thingy, a nice slip-in.  Unexpected to see him do that, but at same time, using the 14th Amendment / slavery connection works.  14th Amendment's been straggled, ripped about, gutted, ignored and stepped on since its ink dried.  And the birthright portion has come up numerous times, even with the SC making its meaning crystal clear.  But ask yourself, can you misinterpret something you've NEVER really read?  Can you misunderstand something you purposely choose to not understand?  Without reading something, you don't need to understand it, so you can just make up shit as you go along.  You know, similar to that whole "right to bear arms" thing.  But here's a question, what happens to his youngest kid?  Is this how he gets rid of him and momma?  "Sorry babe, but you and the Omen spawn have to go - it's law.  Bye Felicia".  I guess he's clearing these folks out for the "Black" jobs, because the reason why migrants, immigrants are working those positions is due to whites neither WANTING nor WILLING to work them.

$500 Billion from this to $500 Billion for AI, is that the new credit default swap?  Musk buying 50% Tik Tok?  America drilling more oil and gas than ever yet opening the gates for even more.  Border's a federal emergency to clear funding for super wall?  Trump's neither Lincoln nor T. Roosevelt (totally opposite of 'ol Teddy), he's William McKinley.  Bought and sold by Musk and crew.

Forget Drill Baby Drill.  Burn Bastards Burn

And remember America, you WANTED this.  YOU VOTED for this. Project 2025

Leftists are some of the most hypocritical species on the planet.

During the first Trump admin, if something was going well, such as the record stock market at the time, several years into his term, leftists claimed that Obama should get the credit because his policies took time to really take effect..

Fast forward 7-8 years, something bad that happened during Trump/s second term........6 days into his term, it is Trump's fault.

I feel we will be victimized by the stupidity of the Biden admin for several years, but of course, all of that will be Trump's fault.

They feel leftists do no wrong.
