Say there’s a 60 percent tariff on Chinese imports. When Walmart imports “Mr. Coffee” machines from China (where they’re made), China doesn’t pay the 60 percent tariff to the U.S. government. Walmart does.

If Walmart had bought the coffee machine for $20 before the tariff, the 60 percent tariff requires Walmart to pay an extra $12 — bringing the total cost of each coffee machine to $32.

Walmart doesn’t want that extra $12 to cut into its profit margin, so it will try not to absorb that cost. Instead, it will pass the extra $12 on to its customers.

Walmart’s CEO  has already said  it expects to raise prices in response to Trump’s tariffs in order to protect its profits.

A French scientist was denied entry into the United States after immigration officers at an airport searched his phone and found messages criticizing Donald Trump and his administration.

Philippe Baptiste, France’s minister of higher education and research, told  Agence France-Presse  in a  statement  that the scientist was traveling to a conference near Houston on March 9 on assignment for the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) when he “was denied entry to the United States before being expelled.”

“This measure was apparently taken by the American authorities because the researcher’s phone contained exchanges with colleagues and friends in which he expressed a personal opinion on the Trump administration’s research policy,” Baptiste added.

As I look at social media lately, it seems to me that a resistance against the Trump plans to autocracize America is growing.

Trump can't stop , he isnt psychologically capable of anything but escalation, so things will get worse.

The screws may turn slowly but they do turn. All it takes is a few big R Republicans with backbones to put an end to such madness. Thus end all tyrants when their own turn against them. Midterms are coming...

The only thing that is going to stop Trump from trying to fuck up this country is Father Time.   There was a chance with the legal system, but then that went belly up with the SC immunity decision.

Only American citizens are entitled to the Constitutional guarantee of Free Speech?  Do I have to be careful about criticizing Trump on NT for trying to destroy the world?  Why aren't my comments on NT redacted by the government?  Will Perrie get into trouble for what I say on NT?

I express my derogatory opinion abut trmp every day...where's my deportation order? What was that? I'm protected under the First Amendment? Are you now telling me that visitors from outside the states don't have protected speech?

All the progressives should look up the fate of  Phillipe Egalite if they think they are going to survive 1789.  The democrats are the party of wall street and the uber wealthy.  That they think they can survive a reaction against wealth because they put up an "In this house" sign in front of their McMansion in a gated community or a black square on their instagram is pretty funny.  You can't virtue signal your way out of your bank account and as 1789 showed there's always someone poorer and more progressive who will chop off the heads of left wing allies to seize power.

In reality, things are looking up for America, and 80% of the populace agree with what Trump is doing to make America great again.

Dems have alienated every voter demographic and have no chance at winning the midterms

The Yale Budget Lab is out this morning with research that stacks those proposed spending cuts on top of what they’re meant to pay for — extending the expiring Tax Cuts and Jobs Act — and measures their impact on people of varying income levels.

The tax cuts lowered rates for people of all income levels but concentrated the largest benefit among the wealthiest. Combining an extension — which would concentrate benefits among the same groups — with cuts to safety net programs would actively transfer money from low-income people to high-income earners, the  Yale researchers found .

Or the customer can buy a Black & Decker coffee maker which is made in the USA. As Walmart will have several different types and brands of coffee makes on the shelves right in front of the customer it will be fairly easy for them to compare.

I don't think they grasp the option to buy products made in the US.  They surely don't fully grasp the concept behind tariffs.

I’d say that many Americans don’t understand how tariffs work or choose to ignore the reality that they will paying the extra cost.
of course they could do some research and find out how much the US has had to support our farmers, hint, it is in the billions and growing.

It has been 2 months, people.  There is no way that Donald Trump could recreate NAZI Germany in only 2 months unless our institutions of democracy were already headed in that direction.  What Trump has been able to accomplish in only 2 months is a testament to the bad policies liberals and left wing activists have coerced the government into adopting.

It has only been 2 months, people.  There's 46 months to go.  It doesn't look like Trump is slowing down.  And liberals are too busy fighting among themselves over what they're going to resist.

The Trump regime has removed General Colin Powell from a list of Americans buried at Arlington. In Trump's America racism is now welcomed, praised, and funded. I miss the days when racists would hide under a rock and secretly perform their Nazi duties.

More bad news for Tesla came out this week, with a recall announced for nearly all Cybertrucks manufactured so far because a steel panel could come unglued — creating a potentially dangerous road hazard if it happens while the vehicle is being driven.

It is nice to see AG Bondi is charging these little purple haired freak liberals with domestic terrorism when they decide to burn or key Teslas or try and destroy a Tesla dealership.

Every one of them deserve it.
