Joe Biden Gets the Breakthrough With Voters He Was Praying For - Newsweek
A Fox News poll shows that more voters are feeling positive about the economy than at any point during the Biden administration.

President Joe Biden has received a boost in the polls as voters view him more positively on the hot topics of the 2024 election: the economy and immigration.

A Fox News survey of 1,095 registered voters showed that Biden is leading his presumptive 2024 Republican rival, Donald Trump, by two points (50 percent by 48). This is the first time that the president has led Trump in a survey from the news network since October 2023.

When broken down further, the Fox News survey also found that more people feel that the United States economy is in excellent or good shape (32 percent) than at any other time of the Biden administration. A record 37 percent now say they approve of Biden's handling of inflation, with 41 percent approving the president's handling of the economy, his highest rate in more than two years

More than one-third (35 percent) of voters also said they approve of Biden's handling of immigration, up from 30 percent in a previous Fox News poll in May. The rise in support for immigration arrived as Biden issued an executive order allowing officials to quickly remove migrants who have illegally entered the U.S. without processing their asylum requests once the system has become "overwhelmed."

Newsweek reached out to Biden's campaign via email for comment.

Biden has previously been criticized for the state of the U.S. economy due to the huge rise in gas prices and decades-high levels of inflation. The president has also been scorned, especially by Trump, about the record-breaking levels of illegal crossings at the southern border.

With less than five months to go until the November election, the latest Fox News poll suggests that the improving economy, often cited as the number one election issue, is starting to cut through with voters.

The poll also arrived as NBC News reported that Biden's cabinet will promote how much the economy has been improving to voters across the country ahead of the first live televised presidential debate between Biden and Trump on June 27.

Biden's more hard-line stance on immigration with the recent executive order could also be helping improve his support, even if the president was criticized by his own party for it.

Despite Biden's improvement on the hot-topic issues, Trump is still trusted to do a better job on immigration than Biden by nine points (53 percent to 44) and on the economy by five points (51 percent to 46).

However, in a May Fox News survey, the former president was 15 points ahead of Biden on immigration. Trump was also up 13 points over Biden on voters' trust in the economy last month.

Democrat Chris Anderson, who conducts Fox News surveys, said the main factor for this being a "welcome" poll for Biden would be the "notable erosion" of Trump's advantage on the economy and immigration.

"If voters don't perceive Trump as significantly better on the economy and immigration, the rationale for returning him to office will become much murkier for some voters," Anderson said.

The June Fox News poll is the first one the network has conducted since Trump became the first U.S. president in history to be convicted of a crime after he was found guilty of 34 felony falsifying business records charges in his historic hush money trial.

Perhaps, one should not open that Door, as ones economical perception may become blurred, if only viewed through Trumps' distorted and imported, while completely contorted, pseudo interpretation of the economical and immigrational state of this nation.

As I said: not food prices. You can take a little comfort in the fact that the article is correct. Biden has taken the lead in polls. Whether it is because of his claims on the economy getting better or the left hanging a conviction on Trump is up for debate.

Absolutely nobody is denying that COVID and Putin's war in Ukraine played havoc with the supply chain for goods and products causing worldwide economic chaos resulting in inflation and recession. Plus, just to keep their people fed slowed governments, especially the US, expanded money supplies with stimulus checks and artificially low interest rates. The only way out necessarily required some pain but the USA turned the corner first and fastest and is now leading the World economically in recovery. Shit happens and leadership matters...
