Trump Says "I" 61 Times In Speech On Israel
Donald Trump, alternating effortlessly between self-pitying and self praise, used the word "I" 61 times in a weekend speech about Israel.
“I do all these things. No president has ever been so good to Israel by far as I have, and I got 26%. I went from 25 to 26%. I’ve been watching over the last two years, watching as you are being decimated by this stupid human being who’s in the White House. He’s a stupid president, crooked Joe Biden … What happened is, think of it, I do all these things. This is not quid pro quo. I was unbelievable for Israel. I got one point extra.”…

U.S. Republican Presidential nominee former President Donald Trump arrives at his campaign rally at the Bojangles Coliseum on July 24, 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina
Former President Donald Trump, speaking on Sunday at a campaign event in Deal, N.J. — which has a sizable population of Syrian Jews — pledged to help Israel win its war against Hamas if elected in November, reiterating his claim that the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks would not have happened had he still been in office.
The minimum donation to attend the event, hosted at the Chera family’s summer home, was $3,300. Some of the people who contributed between $250,000-$500,000 to host or co-host the event included real estate developers Joseph Cayre, Ben Askhenazy, Henry Adjmi, Joe Moinian and Richard Chera, who hosted a Trump fundraiser in his Elberon, N.J. home in 2020 and whose father, Stanley, was a close friend of the former president. Others included casino mogul Steve Wynn, and Charles Kushner, whose son Jared is Trump’s son-in-law and who owns a home on the Jersey Shore near the event.
Non-donor co-hosts of the event included Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Nicole Maliotakis (R-NY) and former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY).
Trump spoke at a large outdoor tent in front of American flags, approaching the stage to the song “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood, and proceeded to riff on Israel, Iran, Jewish voters, Vice President Kamala Harris and more for 36 minutes.
Here are some of the highlights:
On Israel : “We had a little pre-meeting of 25 people, and a couple of them were talking about the problems we have with China, problems we have with other countries. I said, ‘Well, we have a problem with Israel. We have to say this. Israel is in big trouble.’ All the things you see happening would not have happened. Oct. 7 would not have happened if I were president.”
“We’re going to be fine with China. We have a bigger problem with Israel. Israel is under siege. Israel is under attack. That was a big weapon that came yesterday and killed 13 beautiful children and I’ve never seen such graphically displayed death not on a battlefield. They showed these young children … in a position that – I’ve never seen anything like it … It’s going to wake people up and they’re going to do something about what’s happening.”
“Israel is under attack. Israel – I don’t know if I should say it, but it’s true – it does not get good public relations. I had a meeting with Bibi in Mar-a-Lago. We had a good meeting, had a strong meeting, and he wants to be able to win this war. … He’s getting tremendous kickback, and when you see a thing like what happened yesterday, you realize something is going to happen very, very fast. We have to do one thing, we have to get me elected because if I’m elected, it’s all going to come to an end.”
“I got the Golan Heights for you. They didn’t even ask for it. I recognized the capital of Israel. I recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Just so you know, the Golan Heights, they’ve been after that for 81 years [Israel conquered the Golan Heights in 1967 – LH ] … I asked [former ambassador to Israel] David Freidman and I asked some other people to give me a lesson, five minutes or less, on the Golan Heights, and they did. They said it’s very important for security because of the height. It’s a very large parcel of land, a very important location. I said thank you and I thought about it for a day. No one asked me. I got Golan Heights.”
“I got the capital of Israel, Jerusalem, and very importantly, I got the embassy built.” Trump went on an extended riff about lowering the costs of constructing the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem and the beauty of Jerusalem stone, and concluded: “It’s beautiful and we got it done. We only spent $500,000, we renovated a building and we got it open. If I didn’t get the building open, this administration would have changed it and taken the capital away.”
“None of this would have happened, the attack yesterday, Oct. 7, if I were president. They didn’t play games with me. I almost used a very foul word, I was going to use the F word but I decided not to because there are children here.”
On Jewish voters : “I do all these things. When I first ran, I said, I understand. Even though I have a great son-in-law who happens to be Jewish, a daughter who happens to be Jewish, my grandchildren are Jewish – Charlie Kushner will confirm that I have Jewish grandchildren – but I haven’t done anything yet. Typically a Republican gets 20% of the Jewish vote. I got 25%, that wasn’t so good. Now, I’ve done Golan Heights, I turned around the Iran nuclear deal – Bibi begged Obama not to sign, it was a horrible deal, it’s a short road to having a nuclear weapon, a very short-term deal … I terminated that. I did all these things for Israel, then you add Jared who was so involved in the Abraham Accords…”
“For all this, I ended up at 26%. I will say this, I did very well in Miami … but that shouldn’t happen. We have to win this election. We need the Jewish people to vote for Trump. If you don’t have Jewish people voting for Republicans, including people in the House, including people in the Senate, you’re not going to have Israel for very long.”
“Jewish people have to vote for Donald Trump, and if they don’t – I’ll tell you what, Bibi Netanyahu agrees. I said, ‘Bibi, I have to ask you a question. How is it people that are Jewish vote Democrat?’ He said it’s a habit.”
“The Democrats hate Israel. The Democrats largely hate the Jewish people. It’s time for the Jewish people to step up and vote for Republicans and vote for Donald Trump and we’re going to save Israel.”
On Iran : “[The Trump administration] had no problem at all with terror because Iran was broke when I was president. You couldn’t buy oil there and if you did buy oil or anything else and helped them, you were under sanctions like nobody’s ever seen before. If you did buy, you couldn’t do business with the U.S. I was tested by four countries … they were immediately cut off and after that they were very nice, very good. Iran had no money.”
“Whether Hamas or Hezbollah, they all get their money from Iran, nobody wants to talk about it. Biden is pathetic, he doesn’t want to talk about it.”
“So I got the Embassy, the Golan Heights, the Abraham Accords. The biggest thing, frankly, was the termination of the Iran nuclear deal. The problem is Biden didn’t do anything with it. Iran was broke. If that election [in 2020] wasn’t rigged, we could have had a deal in one week with Iran and what did I want? One thing. You can’t have a nuclear weapon. Everyone would have been happy. You could have had it done. But when the election was different than they thought, we had a big problem. You cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.”
“Iran didn’t play games with me either. We took out [IRGC commander Qasem] Soleimani … Israel was not under any – there were no attacks, no money, nobody had money and there was no money for terror. Frankly, Iran was broke. They had $200 million and now they have $300 billion and they made it over a short time, 3.5 years from the time I left office. China was allowed to go back in. China wouldn’t buy any oil [before] because I said if you buy the oil, no business with the U.S. and there would be a 100% tariff.”
On Harris : “I’ll give you the bad news, she [Harris] hates Israel.”
“We have this new one who wants to defund the police … They tried to delete all the defund the police and all the other things she wants to do. She should be easier than him [Biden] … There’s a reason she was bad the first time [she ran for president, in 2020]. Why would she be better now? She has the shield of the press … She was seen as one of the dumbest, one of the worst people … and now they’re making her out to be Margaret Thatcher. … She’s not smart. She is vicious though. She’s got a fresh way about her. There was nobody more vicious to Joe Biden. When he picked her, I was amazed because she called him a racist with the bus , you remember.”
“The debate was bad and now they said this guy might be incompetent … Now we have somebody new and this could be different. It could be good; it could be bad. I’ve watched the debate. She’s very bad, very insulting but that’s OK because I’m very insulting also.”
On Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and other Democrats’ positions on Israel: “How about [Sen. Chuck] Schumer? I’ve known him. You know I gave him his first political contribution. … He’s become a Palestinian. What happened to this guy? He is not for Israel.”
“You have many people, Jewish people in this country that hate Israel. Somebody has to teach these people that hate Israel that Israel is a good thing, not a bad thing. You have people at The New York Times, run essentially by a Jewish family, and they hate Israel. They treat them so badly. I read articles and now that I’m so into it I read a lot … the level of hatred they have for Israel is just incredible. You have people like Schumer, you have politicians actually going to the other side. I guess maybe there’s more votes or something. Fifteen years ago, the strongest lobby in the U.S. was Israel. You couldn’t say a bad thing about Israel, if you said a bad thing about Israel you were out of politics. … You were gone, you wouldn’t have had a chance. Today it’s almost the opposite. Jewish people that are elected officials like Schumer are afraid to say anything good about Israel.”
On campus antisemitism : “Look at Elise [Stefanik]. Look at what she did to that poor woman with the big glasses from Harvard. And she did it with a smile! That was surgical; that was great.”
“[Democratic politicians] say good things about the protesters at Columbia University. They stick up for them. And by the way, you notice nothing happened to them. J6 protesters go to jail for years but nothing happens to them despite the fact that they desecrated the hell out of this school and landmark buildings and everything else. It’s so unfair.”
This man is psychotic.
Maybe he is, but he's right about Israel.
He wants Jews to bow down to him, so I guess thats up to you.
You know damn well that's a stupid statement, asking for their votes is not asking them to consider him the Messiah. That's not the point I made. Jews have historically and will continue to vote for liberal causes, but what Trump did for Israel no other PotUS has ever done, other than break the promises they had prior to the elections made to get the Jewish vote.
Trump says, quite clearly, that he has done everything for Jews and they have not repaid him.
He uses the word "I" SIXTY ONE TIMES in a speech on Israel. He doesnt care about Israel, he cares about what Jews should be doing for him.
So what you're saying is that it is wrong for a candidate to ask people to vote for him/her. It was okay with you that Joe Biden told the public all the things he's done for them, was it not?
Gee........wasn't there a candidate that said, " if you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain’t black."
No.
He cares nothing about Israel. He cares nothing about anything except trump.
Whether or not he cares about Israel is not the point, Tess, The fact that he has done more for Israel than the Presidents before and after him is the point I am making. If he's an antisemite, then he would disown his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. Look, I don't support Trump, and I never will, but I cannot discredit him for what he has done for Israel.
" It’s so unfair.”
Donald Trump
Bringing back the Obama meter.
I dont recall Obama whining that "I did everything" for people so ungrateful my vote percentage among that group only went up one point.
Selective memory?
"Speaking to Syrian Jewish real estate developers and others on the Jersey Shore, Trump claimed Vice President Kamala Harris ‘hates Israel,’ said Schumer ‘became a Palestinian’ and slammed Biden on Iran"
That's all true. Why didn't you discuss the real topic of the article instead of going off on a tangential and irrelevant side issue?
whats "true" ?
