Thanks. I decided to look him up myself.

During a stand-up set in May 2021, Hinchcliffe was videotaped insulting Peng Dang, an Asian American comedian who had introduced Hinchcliffe after performing the previous set at Vulcan Gas Company in Austin. Hinchcliffe said Dang was a "filthy little fucking chink ", followed with a series of Asian stereotypes in a mock Chinese accent, and lashed out at audience members who laughed at Dang's jokes, branding them as "race traitors". The video was later shown on Twitter , went viral and received criticism. [ 24 ] As a result, Hinchcliffe was dropped by his agency WME , removed from shows scheduled with Joe Rogan in Austin, and the Austin nightclub Antone's announced that it would no longer be involved with Hinchcliffe or his Kill Tony live show. [ 24 ] [ 25 ] [ 26 ] Vulture reported that during his set, Hinchcliffe stated that Chinese people came to Austin because of the bats and criticized offended audience members for "believing he was serious". [ 27 ] Dang stated he did not receive any apology from Hinchcliffe following the incident. [ 27 ] In an interview with Variety , Hinchcliffe stated that the line was a joke and he did nothing wrong, adding that he believed comedians should never apologize for a joke and simply continue with their work, which was the approach he took after the incident. Variety also reported that in an October 2023 episode of the podcast Triggernometry , Hinchcliffe claimed that Dang was a "Chinese spy" and the incident was an "an orchestrated attack by the Chinese media". [ 28 ]

Yeah, he sounds delightful. /s

its completely predictable. the maga suck ups will now claim that trump got sand bagged by one comedian.

they loaded the fucking teleprompter for him.

trump said in his speech that the press is "the enemy of the people"

Miller made a phrase that echoed Hitler's  "Germany is for Germans" word for word subbing America in.

This fiasco is all about one thing, getting low information conspiracy addled young men to commit to Trump.  Elon Musk howled like a caveman.

One of the biggest disgraces in American political history, and of course validated all the concerns about the 1939 rally.

You have to be invited to this type of event and the Trump Campaign did just that. No one is saying sensor him, they are trying to figure out why he was invited in the first place.

The fact that they disagree with what he said is not "censorious", it is "critical".

I think what you actually meant is, what motivates people like this to display their unabashed bigotry. That is, I do not believe Trump is the motive for their bigotry but, rather, what makes them believe they are safe in displaying the bigotry they already possessed.

That said, I cannot deny that such a feeling of safety is directly attributed to Trump and his rhetoric, in my opinion. Fortunately, and while it may be wishful thinking on my part, the reaction of the crowd seemed rather subdued, which I interpret as dissatisfaction with  what the guy was saying. I would like to believe the majority found it as disgusting as I did.

The adverb 'unabashedly' clarified my obvious meaning.

That is, I do not believe Trump is the motive for their bigotry but, rather, what makes them believe they are safe in displaying the bigotry they already possessed.

That is my position too and that is exactly my point.   I was not suggesting that Trump is turning people into bigots (that is a ridiculous notion).

I would like to believe the majority found it as disgusting as I did.

In normal times, I would make that assumption too.   But anyone who is supporting Trump at this stage —given all we know about Trump— is, as far as I am concerned, part of a personality cult.

I disagree. I think there are many who would be labeled as Trump supporters who do not in fact support the man, but rather, oppose the opposition. The idea that the opposition is preferrable to the personality of an individual seems ludicrous to me. That is, because Trump may be an asshat somehow legitimizes Harris is logically indefensible.

Under normal circumstances your argument is sound.    This is anything but a normal circumstance.

In 2024, we have a traitor running for the presidency.   Trump is a loose-cannon, vindictive narcissist who clearly would like to have authoritarian rule, who has said that he would consider using the force of the government (even the military) against his political opponents.   He has shown that he will use coercion (threats) to get people to conform to his wishes.   He believes he is always right ("I know more about war than the generals") and will surround himself with sycophants who will carry out whatever he wants to stay in his good graces.

To wit, Trump is unfit to serve.   He should never be considered.   Thus Harris is the only viable and fit candidate for the presidency.

1.4.36  TᵢG  replied to  Drakkonis @1.4.35    5 months ago

No, Drakk, that is NOT my argument.

The alternative to Trump is Harris.   If the alternative to Trump was someone just as bad as Trump my position would be against BOTH of them.

Harris is a normal D presidential nominee.   She is presidential, rational, grounded, intelligent, articulate, very experienced, would provide a good face and voice for our nation, and views the presidency as a duty, not as a means to exercise power in pursuit of personal desires.

While I will certainly not like some of her policies, that pales in comparison to character, demeanor, and philosophy given the alternative is Trump.

Harris is fit and normal.   Trump is unfit and replete with negatives (more than any other nominee in my lifetime and likely our history).

So, in very clear terms, my argument is that Harris is the only viable and fit choice.

Fortunately the world doesnt revolve around what you think is normal.  A political party doesnt have to follow rules imposed from the outside. All they have to is present a candidate if they want one on the ballot.  For most of U.S. history presidential primaries were window dressing and the candidate was chosen by party insiders.

Harris was the vice president and the logical selection, and she was selected by Biden and then the delegates to the convention. End of story.

You think it makes any difference whatsoever in this race that the D party did not conduct a second primary after Biden dropped out late in the race?

That is a tired, ancient, feeble talking point.

The response ignored my obvious point that Harris is a normal D candidate in terms of the qualities I listed:

TiG@1.4.36Harris is a normal D presidential nominee.   She is presidential, rational, grounded, intelligent, articulate, very experienced, would provide a good face and voice for our nation, and views the presidency as a duty, not as a means to exercise power in pursuit of personal desires.

And instead of dealing with my point, I get deflection to the irrelevant talking point about the lack of a D primary.

Your consistency is a pleasure to 'behold.'  :)  I mean it. At this point, if Harris was to slip up and cause a 'falling out' with her policy or character. . . I can say you have 'stood pact' for a long time and I can trust you to not go any farther - at that stage where you walk away. Thankfully, you have not had to cross that bridge away from her so far. We need somebody to hope for and vote for in this election that is reasonable and has a 'level-head' on her shoulders!

What kind of nonsense is this?   You just took my position that the lack of a second primary is irrelevant and equated me with two authoritarians.   Slimy.

The Ds had to scramble.   They did and they chose their nominee in a rushed timeframe.   They are good with their nominee.   Now we have a general election.   If Harris is elected then the people will have voted her in.   If not, she loses by the choice of the people.

Democracy is fully intact.   Putin and Xi and authoritarian rule is a stupid comparison.

I mean, it's not like all of a sudden, these folk just magically appeared in America, their racist agenda has been here for decades, centuries even, passed on from one generation of racist shitbag to the next. It's just that Donald Trump gave them a voice and a place to feel welcome where they could be themselves after decades of feeling like they had to hide their hate, racism, fascism and sexism. They should be ashamed of themselves but clearly they have no shame. The fact that just under half of the nation is this deplorable is a truly sad reality that the rest of us must confront and reject, we've gone too long just sweeping these shitbags under the carpet.

If anyone still believes that Trump and the MAGAs aren’t racist they are racists themselves.

I seen plenty of racism in my lifetime but to see this display in MSG in 2024 is something to behold, Trump is right the US is a shithole and he and his MAGA racists buddies are the shit that makes up the hole.

I actually think this rally could backfire. How is this winning over moderates and independents exactly? This is maga on steroids. It’s a pretty significant and inconvenient demographic you actually need to win - and they don’t freebase maga kool aid every morning.

First, absolutely. Second, what the fuck is up with Trump and his supporters being so obsessed with crowd size? It's like to them size is the only thing that matters. Perhaps MLK's famous quote should have read “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin or the size of a crowd but by the content of their character”.

Just because Trump has a large group of racists that follow him around the country and go to all his events like fucking mindless cultists doesn't mean he's actually winning over the majority of Americans. He's not, he will lose the popular vote by millions and anyone with more than half a brain knows it.

Reactionary propagandists won't mention that while Trump may have had 20,000 people at his hate fest at Madison Square Garden yesterday, Harris had 23,000 people at her rally in Georgia on Thursday night, and more than 30,000 people at her rally in Houston on Friday, that a reported 1.5 million people registered to attend.

Here is the video under 'fire' - - it is only 12 minutes long (the comedian 'edition') and I, for the life of me, can't figure out WHY racist remarks are even a part of this. There really was not need to make it personal:

NOTE: There were other less 'funny' offenders making hasty, hateful, remarks on stage at Madison Square Garden on this occasion not presented here.
