We often hear about the distinction, if there is one, between "the" president, and "my" president. This refers to a level of acceptance of the results .
Will Trump be "my" president ? Nope, although if he wins he will be the duly elected president. "My president" projects a false unity, and if I acknowledged that the most unfit candidate in US history is "my" president I wouldnt be able to look myself in the mirror again.
If Trump wins and the Democrats retake the House I expect impeachment within a few weeks.
Let's be perfectly clear. Trump will never consider himself to be YOUR president, or the president of anyone who is not one of his cultists. He will think of himself as your ruler.
Why are voters being asked if whoever wins the election will be 'their President'? The answer depends upon the President's priorities and working agenda. The voters don't have a voice in how the government actually functions. The voters don't get to choose who will be winners and losers in any President's administration. The President has the choice; mere citizens really have no choice. Mere citizens are expected to just pay their taxes, keep their damned mouths shut, and do what they're told.
Sorry, there is extremely convincing evidence that Trump is a traitor, and a lunatic. He won't be "my president" but you are free to enjoy his psychopathic traits if you want.
“Mere citizens are expected to just pay their taxes, keep their damned mouths shut, and do what they're told.”
Oh my. ‘Mere citizens’ still, will always have a voice.
That is merely an observation that confirms the idea of some that we are but fodder in dutiful acceptance of a potential oligarchy. Never going to happen.
The reason Kirk is worrying about turnout is that there is still a strong assumption that same day voting is heavily Trump. If same day turnout is lagging that would be bad for Trump.
But if anyone else - not a candidate for president, but anyone - says he’s fascist, that crosses the line, somehow, and we need to tone down the rhetoric.
Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion here...
Yes, whoever wins the election will be MY President. I am an American citizen and I still believe in founding fathers believed was the Great Experiment that created the government of the USA. After all, whoever wins the election will have been deemed the best suited for the position by the citizens of this country.
I will be consistent. I can't stand the moral turpitude of Crooked Donald. I will state that I wish Hispanics, Blacks, and women voting for what they are about to undergo with "the Donald' well should he win, however. I have no intentions of pretending that a coward, hater, abuser, braggart, insulter, liar, cheater, thief, and fool can represent my principles on the national and international stage.
And it gets worse, because the SCOTUS won't change in my lifetime (anytime soon).
California does its part so well that it is taken for granted in presidential elections. . . . I have gotten really tired exhausted of this 'tug of war' (over my being).
On a personal level, Trump is a jerk and sometimes a sorry individual. But that particular "jerk" is who we need in office right now with the world stage in such a mess the last four years. I honestly could never imagine Harris standing up to and going face to face against the likes of Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran. She just does not have the intestinal fortitude needed to do so. That does not even say what she would do to the domestic issues. There was more chance of Harris getting us into a major war than Trump.

And I’ll be equally clear.
Bullshit!
Your comment is totally fucking ignorant.
Nope, not even close.
I'm so depressed.
Trump has already won so it will just have to be dealt with.

"My" president implies a level of acceptance that the winner was the people's choice and thus what is best for the country. Ain't happening with me.
Very patriotic of you.

Nice thinly veiled insult …… very weak sauce ….
Same here.
It's true, he's a traitor, and we're fucked.
Not my president. I feel for Ukraine.
Hate and ignorance won this 'presidency' and impotent incels. I can't say what I really want or be suspended for a WEEK again.
Damn our public education system.
Impotent incels for the 'president'! He's an impotent incel also, the 'president'.
Maybe it’s the fluoride in the water, it messed with LTG Ripper’s life essence.

Keep my mouth shut?
yeah....that's not gonna work
Canadians don't elect presidents but I will take Harris as Prime Dominatrix.
Yes
You dont say .
The reason Kirk is worrying about turnout is that there is still a strong assumption that same day voting is heavily Trump. If same day turnout is lagging that would be bad for Trump.
“Leave bigotry in your quarters; there's no room for it on the bridge." ~ Captain Kirk
More than enough people turned out to vote. Harris still lost.
Hate and ignorance is very strong among the supporters of the traitor.
The people spoke and now the rest of them will whine.
Trump is going down swinging, calling Democrats "radical communists" to his last election day breath.
But if anyone else - not a candidate for president, but anyone - says he’s fascist, that crosses the line, somehow, and we need to tone down the rhetoric.
NO, I have no "PRESIDENT" (but I DO have a Prime Minister even though he can't fit his father's shoes).

. . .And Muslims (in America). . . Good luck with Crooked Donald!
I will not like it but will accept the winner. My real hope all along has been no one party controls all three branches
.
That's why it is called the will of the people. Obviously not enough people had the will to vote for Harris. Stuff happens sometimes.
California does its part so well that it is taken for granted in presidential elections. . . . I have gotten really tired exhausted of this 'tug of war' (over my being).
Aren’t your two statements contradictory?
Trump wins! He’s 2 for 2 on taking out chosen ones.
Right on,

No argument there or with the rest of it either.
Wow. Just wow.
