“I am pleased to announce that the Highly Respected former Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, has been nominated to be The United States Ambassador to Israel,” Trump  said Tuesday in a statement . “Mike has been a great public servant, Governor, and Leader in Faith for many years. He loves Israel, and the people of Israel, and likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East!”

Mike Huckabee, Israel and Bible prophecy | Douglas M. Bloomfield | The Blogs

Huckabee interviewed author Tim LaHaye, whose “Left Behind” novels describing in gory detail what’s in store for us as Biblical prophecies unfold have sold more than 60 million copies, and the results were downright bizarre.

If this was a conversation between two Christian theologians or ordinary believers, it would be one thing.

But this was on a news channel, with a host who probably wants to be our next President. And yet there Huckabee was, with a straight face, discussing with LaHaye questions like, “are we now living in the end times?” (Answer: “Very definitely.”)

LaHaye talks about the creation of a “global religion” as well as a global economy and the prediction – now fulfilled, he says – that Russia and the Islamic nations will come together in an alliance against Israel. Bible prophecy, he said, is “History written in advance.”

Is it religious prejudice to say there is something unsettling about Huckabee’s role as straight man to LaHaye’s apocalyptic visions?

Are we to take it from the tone of his questions that he agrees we are in the “last days,” and that Israel has a dramatic, grisly role to play in the apocalyptic drama?

That defends, friend Thomas. Huckabee is a 'driven' man and in many ways is always looking for an angle. Will he be satisfied to his heart's contentment to represent the U.S. without controversy or will he see it as a platform to strike at those 'others.' We will have to see what his perspective and Donald's intentions are for the state and the region.

If it is anything like Huckabee managed his comments on Israel on TBN's "Huckabee". . . expect activism.

Surely Huckabee is limited to Trump's intentions, and I doubt that Trump's positive attitude towards Israel (proven already to have been more positive than any other PotUS) will bring on "The End of Days".  IMO The End of Days will be caused by the whole world not dealing adequately to protect the environment, if not by an unlikely nuclear war.

It's bible prophecy. But you are correct in one large regard:

The prophet Daniel was instructed:

Daniel 12:  But as for me, I heard but did not understand; so I said, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?” And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for these words will be kept secret and sealed up until the end time. 10 Many will be purged, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. 11 And from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who is patient and attains to the 1,335 days! 13 But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will rest and rise for your allotted portion at the end of the  age.”

Jesus instructed (all) Christians):

Acts 1:

After [Jesus] said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Mathew 24:36

But about [Judgement] day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

In other words, live the 'message' of the Faith. Do not overly concern oneselves about what is in God's control alone. Such matters will take care of themselves. But, people being who they are they 'worry,' talk, and spread misinformation on the point.

I'm sorry. But I feel there is a GROSS misunderstanding about one thing to do with Evangelicals, the Church, and the End-times. (And I am not one to defend these people's perspective too often at all.)

The Church does in fact talk about and look FORWARD to the end times because for Christians it is the RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST - the SON OF GOD. Additionally, "New Jerusalem" comes with Jesus after judgement is completed.

It is not a wiping away of Israel or against Jews.

Indeed, the Bible (Revelation and many other places within the book singular) 'talks' about the end of time as we know it as a time when judgement happens to our world after which Jews and Christians shall sit in the (physical/spiritual presences of God (Spirit itself). See:

Revelation 21.

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last troubles came to me, saying, “Come with me, and I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And the angel carried me away by the Spirit to a very large and high mountain. He showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God11 It was shining with the glory of God and was bright like a very expensive jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 The city had a great high wall with twelve gates with twelve angels at the gates, and on each gate was written the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south, and three on the west. 14 The walls of the city were built on twelve foundation stones, and on the stones were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Revelation casts a relationship between Jews and the Church in New Jerusalem. That is WHY Christians tend to wish to 'hasten' the end of all things. . . in order to be in New Jerusalem and in the 'company' of God as Jew and Christians together.

d. The "Future History" View.

A new mode of interpreting Revelation beginning in the early XIXth century. It grew mostly out of Protestant theology with a strong reforming element, both in Britain and America. It also drew on the strong tradition of literalist interpretation of Revelation as predicting contemporary events that had become popular in these areas through the " continuous history"  view. But this new mode began to look at the past history of Christianity from the New Testament through the Middle Ages and down to its own time in a different light. From this perspective, it was hard to compute how the 1,000 years, if taken literally, could refer to the past history of the church, since that would place the inauguration of the Millenium [sic] within the timeframe of the medieval Catholic Church.

The new view, therefore, began to argue that none of the events described in the Book of Revelation after chapters 1-3 (i.e., John's vision and the letters to the seven churches of Asia) had yet come to pass. All the florid images of Revelation 4-22 were instead considered to be predictions of future events that would come to pass in literal terms as the return of Christ and the end approached. Thus, this view looks at Revelation as prediction of "future history."

Central to this mode of interpretation is the view that Revelation, along with most of the rest of the Bible constitutes a similar type of "prophecy" of the future, and it often refers to this overall scheme of interpretation as "Bible prophecy." Much of the interpretation that comes from this perspective involved linking various passages from different parts of the Bible to form a composite that fits current and future expectations. This mode of interpretation is also directly connected to the rise of  pre-millenialism , the view that the 1,000 year reign of Christ will be a literal event that will occur only after Christ returns. Thus, the emphasis on interpreting Revelation, lies in equating its images with those events surrounding the return. Several different versions or systems have been proposed for how the actual events will work out.

The most popular has been that of  John Nelson Darby  (1800-1882), which is known as  Dispensationalism , a view made popular in England and America in the early XXth century through the publication of Cyrus Scofield (1843-1921). First published in 1909, it came to be known as  The Scofield Reference Bible . On each page it printed the King James translation of 1611 alongside of Scofield's own copious "notes" on how to read each passage of the Bible in conjunction with other "prophecies." It thus provided a chainlink interreferencing system to the Book of Revelation, by which one could jump from passage to passage to follow the "true" meaning.  The Scofield Bible  continued to be popular among certain Protestant Christian groups. From 1909 to 1967 it sold more than 10 million copies; reprinted in 1967, it is said to have sold another 2.5 million copies by 1990. More than any other  "future history"  interpretation, this one has had the most impact on current literalist interpretations of Revelation.

So JR,

I get the point of your articles (I have known this about church teachings and writings for long enough to have 'forgotten' parts of it.). The above (see "d") points out the perspective that modern churches actually practice (rightly or wrongly -- it is inarguable that when Revelation is taught that it is taught in a future tense ("END TIME) version in many, many, churches.

Now to my point for mentioning Revelation to begin with . . . it was only to respond to the fact that what these 'futurist' teachers and readers ASSENT to is that Jews and Christians will play a role in New Jerusalem ("The City of God") together. . . and that has no evidence of existing fully presently.

As for me and my belief system, . . . I am 'fond' and comfortable making the various 'cases' as I understand them to those I engage with - I do not try to attest to the accuracy or argue my convictions about Revelation as a book (or other books of the Bible) because it is aging itself rapidly (and becoming harder to hold on to logically). That leaves it to be simply a book about faith in large part.

I hope the last paragraph is clear. Because I am not attempting to persuade anybody about anything in the bible. . . simply to make 'us' aware of where they can find the written word and apply. . . whatever. . . they will to it as appropriate—of course .

I would be interested in your perspective on how it is an insult to Israel. I ask because I am aware of the budding or real attempts by evangelical churches to 'incorporate' themselves into a firm(est) relationship of Jews and Christians together as told in the Bible. I can provide verses later or when asked if needed (on my way out right now). Example: John Hagee Ministries has been a steady friend of Israel for many, many, decades.

Do you know why John Hagee Ministries is supposedly a friend of Israel?  The so-called "Christian Zionists" believe that once all Jews are living in Israel, the "End Times" will come and they (the "Christian Zionists") will go to heaven, but Jews, of course, will burn.

For more insight into the real John Hagee, you should read this:

This article about "Christian Zionists" is especially instructive:

CB
Professor Principal
9.2.2  CB  replied to  Gsquared @9.2.1    one month ago

I understand that. And to be fair to Hagee from a Christian perspective he has scriptural references to back up the claim/s he mostly is making. I will say that I have never considered that Jews in and out of Israel would be against the aid of Christians reading the Old Testament and New Testament which sees them coming together "in the end-times."  In fact, I have always thought it a positive thing in scripture. And yes, Christians (and the Old Testament Zachariah I believe mentions the 'war to end all wars')  Now I feel that I am crossing you (in some way) simply by this statement based on the strong convictions you have shared in two articles.

But, I think they (the article) writers have a differing perspective than the one Hagee personally conveys. (How that misunderstanding happens is confounding to me.)

Take this verse (from the New Testament).

Ephesians 2:

11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— 12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

These verses (and some in NT Revelation speak POSITIVELY about the 'end time war' and a positive reinforcement of KINSHIP between Jews and Christians based upon old and new testament scripture ("revelation").

Now then, I can comprehend a scenario that would cause some Jewish people to believe the end times is a rejection of them as a people when it speaks to a 'coming great war' but honestly that is not now (if it has ever been so I do not know) what Christians have believed since how long!

Hagee is a solid supporter of Israel - yes, who believes the Old Testament prophecies of a coming 'end-of-the-world' war. But, he believes in it, because in will usher in the New Jerusalem (sent 'down' from Heaven) to be occupied FOREVER by Jews and Christians.

BTW, this verse is one case for the founding of an organization that markets itself as The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews - a group that I have recently learned is viewed 'sideways' too for what reason I can not fathom. As it seeks to goodwill between those who participate in faith/s together as one.

(Personal note: My friend, I have much more to say on this topic which can be backed up by scriptures if need be. I think Hagee, a man dedicated to Israel as much as he is to Jesus being the Messiah (a Jewish man). I hope not to lose your 'kinship' over it. For I value your words on the forum.)

Something you may have picked up on in the last eight years or so is that Donald Trump  is obsessed with revenge against the people, places, and things he believes have wronged him. During his first run for office, for example, he spent ample amounts of time  musing   about imprisoning   Hillary Clinton,  and in his most recent run for the White House, he vowed, on several occasions, to crush the “ enemy within .”

While targets of Trump’s ire may have been able to spend the last several months soothing themselves with the notion that it would be inconceivable for voters to reelect a man who is vocal about his plans for going after fellow Americans, that’s obviously not the way things shook out last week. Instead, Trump   cruised to a second term in office . And now, it’s not a question of   if   the incoming president will make good on his threats for revenge, but   when   and against   whom.   “Will Trump retaliate?”   Gwenda Blair,   who wrote a biography about the Trump family,   asked   The New York Times.   “Of course. The only question is how much will be broad-brush and how much will be targeted.” Which makes the   reported   fears   of the people in Trump’s crosshairs extremely understandable!

Who, exactly, would be within their rights to be sweating buckets—or, more likely, shitting bricks—at the very real possibility of Trump and/or his government allies coming after them? The long list includes:
  • Special counsel   Jack Smith   (Trump has said he should be “ thrown out the country ”)
  • Joe Biden   (Trump has vowed to appoint “ a real special prosecutor to go after ” the 46th president and his family)
  • Kamala Harris   (Trump has said she should be “ prosecuted for her actions ” concerning the border)
  • Barack Obama   (Trump wants the 44th president   tried by “military tribunal” )
  • Former GOP representative   Liz Cheney   (Trump circulated a post on social media calling her “ guilty of treason ” and arguing she should also be tried by a “military tribunal,” and separately, said she should have   guns “trained on her face” )
  • California senator-elect   Adam Schiff   (Trump has called the lawmaker the “ enemy from within ,” and suggested the military should be used against him)
  • Nancy Pelosi   (Trump has similarly dubbed the former House Speaker the “ enemy from within ” and called her “ evil, sick, crazy, ” and mouthed a word that “starts with a   b ”)
  • General   Mark Milley   (Trump suggested last year that the retired Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman   should be executed )
  • New York attorney general   Letitia James   (Trump has called for James   to be prosecuted , and one of his allies recently declared in an interview, “Listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time, and we will put your fat ass in prison for conspiracy against rights”)
  • Justice   Arthur Engoron   (Trump has similarly called for Engoron, who presided over James’s case against the ex-president, to be   prosecuted , and called him a “ corrupt…political hack ”)
  • Manhattan district attorney   Alvin Bragg   (yes, Trump also wants Bragg, who brought the hush money case against him,   prosecuted )
  • “Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials” involved in the 2020 election (Trump has called for them to receive “ long term prison sentences ”)
  • Mark Zuckerberg   (Trump said during the 2024 race “we are watching him closely” and threatened the Meta founder, saying he could “ spend the rest of his life in prison ” if he broke any laws)
  • Comcast (Trump has said the company, which owns NBC News and MSNBC, should be   investigated for “treason” )
  • ABC News (following his debate with Harris, Trump similarly declared the company should   have its license taken away for fact-checking him )
  • CBS News (Trump said the company should   lose its license   because he didn’t like the editing of a   60 Minutes   interview with Harris)
  • Journalists (Trump has   vowed to jail reporters   who don’t reveal their sources on stories he believes concern national security, and “joked” that the threat of prison rape would get them to give up such information)
  • “A sinister group of deep-state bureaucrats, Silicon Valley tyrants, left-wing activists, and depraved corporate news media” (who Trump claimed comprise a “left-wing censorship regime” and that as president he would “order the Department of Justice to investigate” them and “ to aggressively prosecute any and all crimes identified ”)
  • Representatives   Jamie Raskin   and   Bennie Thompson,   senators   Chuck Schumer   and   Mitch McConnell,   former representative   Adam Kinzinger,   and former vice president   Mike Pence   (Trump reshared a post   calling for them to be jailed )

“He’s erratic and has the attention span of a seven-year-old,”   Harry Litman,   a former Clinton DOJ official, told the   Times   of Trump. “But his thirst for revenge against those he views as his current antagonists is very real, and there’s no reason to think he would be deterred by legal niceties.” (Trump’s office did not respond to the   Times ’ request for comment concerning whether he would make good on campaign revenge threats.)

Someone who believes the future of the world aligns with biblical prophecies concerning the country he is being assigned to execute diplomacy with, does not belong in that position.

What is complicated or confusing about that?

Okay, JR, so he "believes" it.  Is it your opinion he is going to CAUSE it?  Is he in a position to order God what to do to Israel?  In the meantime, although for many reasons I'm neither a lover or supporter of Trump (and don't forget that when you criticize me for my attitude), he was the ONLY PotUS who in this century KEPT HIS PROMISES ABOUT ISRAEL that ALL OTHERS made to get Jewish votes and then DID NOT KEEP.  If it were not for Trump the American Embassy would still be in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem would not be recognized by America as the capital of Israel, the Abraham Accords would most likely not have happened, and the Golan Heights would still be Syria's sovereign lands.  Did you ever stand on the Golan Heights overlooking Israel, JR?  Well, I did, and it was damned obvious what Syria could have done to Israel from that spot.  Notwithstanding all the nice things others have said (while winking towards Michigan and The Squad and Sanders) that they would always back Israel, why did we also even HEAR threats, whispered or not, about holding back arms deliveries unless Israel were to do something or other?  You cannot deny that there are Democrats in Congress who are in favour of stopping those weapons (and I think I can name a few of them) but has any Republican made such a threat?

Is this the best leftists have? Seriously?

Israel is really upset about Huckabee's selection as ambassador./S

Huckabee has only 3 jobs as ambassador.

  • Improve the relationship between the US/Israel. Trump winning the election already did that. Huckabee is an over the top supporter of Israel. The Israelis are happy with the choice.
  • Convey Trump's plans and intentions to Israel directly and clearly. Doubt that there is much difference for Trump's vision of Israel and Huckabee's. So no problem there.
  • Exert what little influence this country has over Israel. Israel has proven repeatedly it doesn't give a fuck what the US says. It may work with the US on occasion; but make no mistake which country is in charge. It doesn't matter who is in the White House. Prove that Israel listened to anything Biden/Harris or Jacob J Lew said to them. Things in Gaza improving (no); things in the West Bank improving (no); Israeli operations outside of their country slowing down in the slightest (no). Like NATO, Israel is the tail that wags the US dog. Huckabee/Trump have a much better chance of Israel listening to them. If they ever say "you are going too far" Israel might just listen.

"Elections have consequences" is what Obama told everyone. It seems for leftists the only time they do is when they win. When Republicans win, Democrats expect them to continue to toe the Democrat line.

The fact you (collectively) are bitching about something as minor as ambassador to Israel- proves leftists haven't learned shit from losing the last election.
