I Am a Solitary

I Am a Solitary
“Magic is natural. It is a harmonious movement of energies to create needed change. If you wish to practice magic, all thoughts of it being paranormal or supernatural must be forgotten.” ― Scott Cunningham, Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner

There are so many symbols, rituals, feasts, and ways to work Magick.  There are many ways to practice:

Coven-Based Witch

Solitary Witch

Hereditary Witch

Crystal Witch

Cosmic Witch

Green Witch

Hedge Witch

Plant Witch

I am a Solitary.  I perform my rituals alone.  I use Tarot, pendulum, candles, crystals, and my Book of Shadows.

256

I have an athame, a chalice, ceremonial bowl, and an incense burner that live on my alter.

I perform moon phase rituals, feast day rituals and spell rituals.

I make offerings to the Goddess I work with and to the God who is her consort.

I am thinking of doing a weekly article that goes into more detail of the many things that belong to my Wiccan journey in either Sinners or The Reality Show...

There are those that are able to divine where water is under the surface.  Most use divining rods.  They most likely fall under the Green Witch category.

you're welcome. if you recall, I admitted to you months earlier that I can witch wells. I've done multiple successful wells for people, the world's biggest cynic. my grampa let me know I could do it when I was very young and showed me how to find and hold the rod. according to him it's passed down thru father, daughter, son, and I was wondering if that is the case for other forms of these paranormal types of science.

I believe many of these gifts are generational.  My father could witch wells.  I did not inherit that gift.  My gifts came more from my paternal grandmother.  It is a gift of empathy and foresight.

no, never heard about it until now. I'll try and remember to look for it.

my grampa tested me when he witched my parents well in the mountains. he found the spot, marked it with a bottle cap, and my dad placed a rock over the cap. the next weekend I walked over the 2 acre lot with a rod and found the bottle cap under the rock. I'll never forget the look of shock on my dad's face, as opposed to the look of elation on my grampa's. the neighbor down the road had my grampa witch their well, but the dumbass missed the spot by 4 feet when he drilled and got nothing. he blamed my grampa and sold off the property at a loss plus the cost of drilling. the new owner drilled in the right spot and hit water. the last well I witched for a friend's new home site came in at 9+ gallons per minute.

That's awesome dev.  What a story!  You could make a movie out of it.

The movie 'Holes' really relates to what you are saying and I won't spoil it but it's a great movie with a great cast and a great story.  I think you'd really like it.  Especially the divining rod part(s).

I'll look for it, but the whole thing kind of fucks with my head. popular sentiment totally disagrees with the concept, while the rod twists blisters in this cynics palms. I hate that shit.

the last time I was going to do it, I showed up and there was an audience, which was a bit unnerving. I told my friend I was afraid that might mess with my accuracy, so they went to town for an hour and left me alone. she showed me where the house was going to be and I started getting hits all around it. I marked the 3 strongest hits with stakes and by then my audience returned and I showed them how it was done. it was the usual watching my hands for tricks stuff, trying to keep the rod from pointing down and trying to figure out how the rod was turning in my hands. I won over several skeptics and found a couple of them could do it too, over the same hits I got. it was pretty fun watching them discover they had an unknown gift.

I offer up the food we use on feast days.  Also I do wine and bread sacrifices.  I usually pour out some wine on the ground and put bread out.  Some time it is seed and corn for the wonderful birds and wildlife that surround my home.  I burn sage and incense for homage also.

be aware of the surroundings when you put those bird feeders out. don't be like my sister and set up the perfect aerial ambush situation for the local raptors and then become traumatized with the results. if you look at the videos of bird feeders on youtube, they will place them around cover or cluster them to make sure it's too difficult for hawks to make those 70mph diving attacks.

as for the hummers, I can't tell you how many hours I spent as a kid with my cousins on the ranch trying to catch one of those feather bearing kamikazes.

I pick mine from a white sage shrub in a nearby canyon. At home I roll the leaves together and tie them with string. It's only 3 or 4 days when they are completely dry and you can remove the string.

You may have a wild sage that's native to your area. There are many species. I tried a few times to grow culinary sage but didn't have a spot in the yard with enough sun.

when I was field supervisor for a telecommunications company, the project manager forbid us to do our admin paperwork (his job) in the office. so I would go park at a place where I could watch the hawks and eagles perform aerial assault on the prairie dogs. it was very cool.

Science has quite a bit in common with the magic that Veronica is describing.  The cartoonish, pop-culture depictions of magic is not informative.  Overcoming the predispositions created by pop-culture depictions will  be quite a challenge.

My maternal grandmother who raised me believed in the supernatural and used to tell me when I was growing up in the desert Southwest of Arizona, "You do not have to believe in things you do not see or understand, but never disbelieve just because you cannot." I took those words to heart and have tried to keep an open mind. I've seen a lot of the world and seen things I did not understand. Were they supernatural not I cannot say for sure, but either way I greatly respect those do sincerely believe.
