Biden shocked to learn high gas prices are his fault
President Joe Biden appeared shocked this week to discover that gas prices are so high. Just wait until he finds out his administration is the reason why.

President Joe Biden appeared shocked this week to discover that gas prices are so high. Just wait until he finds out his administration is the reason why.

"We got a higher demand for goods at the same time we're facing disruptions in the supplies to make those goods. This is a recipe for delays and for higher prices, and people are feeling it," Biden said in Baltimore on Wednesday. "They're feeling it. Did you ever think you'd be paying this much for a gallon of gas? In some parts of California, they're paying $4.50 a gallon!"

Load Error

Maybe Biden is just now noticing, but drivers have been paying significantly more at the pump for several months now. The average retail price of a gallon of gas began to climb in May and has now reached a seven-year high, according to the American Automobile Association. On average, people are spending about $3.42 per gallon and $20 more to fill up their tanks than they did this time last year.

Biden tried to claim last month that he can't do much about gas prices, but that's just not true. He effectively has control of our oil supply and has chosen to stifle that supply by targeting U.S.-based pipelines. As one of his first acts in office, he announced a moratorium on drilling permit issuances on federal lands and water and revoked the permit of the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would have sent 830,000 barrels of oil a day to Nebraska and then to points south and east. And now, he is encouraging a review of a proposed pipeline replacement project that would carry 540,000 barrels a day through Michigan.

The results of these policies have been higher gas prices and an increased dependency on OPEC and foreign governments that have a financial interest in keeping those prices high. Instead of taking matters into his own hands and increasing America's own supply, Biden has taken to begging OPEC to increase its oil production. And all the while, the cost of a gallon of gas continues to rise. Some Wall Street analysts expect drivers to be paying $5 per gallon at the pump by next year.

So, to answer Biden's question, no, people did not expect to be paying this much for gas. But they probably didn't expect the president of the United States not to understand the economic consequences of supply and demand either.

In 2007 when gas breached $4 it wasn't Bushes fault at all...

in 2009 when gas was only $1.75 it wasn't Obama's credit

because POTUS doesn't control oil & gas supply and demand.

From 2011 trough 2014 it was Obamas fault that gasoline remained between $4 and $3.

In January 2015 it dropped to $2.10, again no credit to the sitting President.

When it rose to $2.75 there were calls to impeach Obama.

Silence in January of 2016 when gas prices dropped to $1.75.

When gas declined to $2.23 in July of 2017, Trump claimed full credit

and the ass kissers at the Washington Examiner couldn't stop

fawning over the Trump Administration.

Remember Gerry Ford being raked over the coals for the gas shortage of 1973 when gas

prices went from 50 cents to over $4 ?

No, neither do I because the GOP believes in the free market place & capitalism

except when they don't control the WH.

Partisan BS?

From whom?

Gas prices have risen because Biden chosen to stifle America's oil production. Plain and simple.

In 2007 when gas breached $4 it wasn't Bushes fault at all...

Really? The media, Democrats, and left blasted him endlessly for it. Funny when Joe begs OPEC to increase oil production it is OK; but when Bush Jr did it- stop the presses.

in 2009 when gas was only $1.75 it wasn't Obama's credit

Is Obama going to take credit for the recession? Now that would really be a first. The only reason gas was $1.75 was the US economy was in the tank.

because POTUS doesn't control oil & gas supply and demand.

No, but the actions they take can.

From 2011 trough 2014 it was Obamas fault that gasoline remained between $4 and $3.

Did Obama do anything to lower the costs? Remember this is the President that wanted high gas prices to get people out of their pickup trucks and SUV's and into more fuel efficient cars; and did everything in his power to do it.

In January 2015 it dropped to $2.10, again no credit to the sitting President. When it rose to $2.75 there were calls to impeach Obama.

Seems you don't understand supply and demand. With gas prices that high every oil producing country in the world increased their levels; and the US oil industry increased fracking and shale oil production. Prove those calls to impeach Obama were over the price of oil. Now there were calls to impeach Obama for the Benghazi cover up; the IRS scandal; the Bergdahl terrorist exchange etc. Also note that no impeachment papers were ever filed against Obama. If only the Democrats could show such restraint.

Silence in January of 2016 when gas prices dropped to $1.75.

Again, what did Obama have to do with it? The world was producing oil and gas at a faster rate than it was becoming consumed so prices fell.

When gas declined to $2.23 in July of 2017, Trump claimed full credit

Here comes the disconnect. How could they decline to $2.23 form $1.75? Misplace another price increase under Obama's watch?

Remember Gerry Ford being raked over the coals for the gas shortage of 1973 when gas  prices went from 50 cents to over $4 ?

Remember that Ford wasn't the cause of that; it was Nixon? Ford was raked over the coals for many things- especially the pardoning of Nixon. He wasn't spared the high gas prices from the left; or is it only wrong when Republicans do it? Funny you left Carter out with the insanely long gas lines; and only being to fuel your car on certain days depending on what your license plate ended in. Being a kid back then was a ton of fun. Cars stay parked; and we got to bike everywhere- no matter how many miles out it was.

No, neither do I because the GOP believes in the free market place & capitalism

except when they don't control the WH.

More partisan BS & whining by the Examiner and it's sycophants..

If only you held the left to the same damn standards.

Now please tell us how these actions by Biden didn't lower the amount of oil in the US? Little things like trying to cancel oil development contracts on federal lands. Shutting down two major oil and gas pipelines between the US and Canada. Putting an EO in place that regulates the amount of methane that can be producing while drilling for oil. Dumb things like that can diminish the amount of oil in the market when demand is high and increase the cost. That is the very definition of supply and demand. Biden took actions that affected the supply; and demand didn't decrease.

Exploration doesn't affect current production.

Shutting down two major oil and gas pipelines between the US and Canada

I'll just skip the other BS.  Canceling Canadian pipelines transporting Canadian crude and shale oil to

Houston  only hurts the one refinery who turns the crap into kerosene for shipment to China.

Not our oil.

Putting an EO in place that regulates the amount of methane that can be producing while drilling for oil.

Don't worry, the next Republican POTUS will undoubtedly roll all of the emission laws back.

Dumb things like that can diminish the amount of oil in the market when demand is high and increase the cost.

Nothing else to discuss if you don't understand supply & demand.

Harold Ford, Jessica Tarlov, Juan Williams, Chris Wallace, Lawrence Jones, Neil Cavuto, Geraldo Rivera (depending on which way he wants to blow his political bias), and (formerly) Donna Brazile are also the faces of FNC. As you said, deal with it.

Did you ever think you'd be paying this much for a gallon of gas? In some parts of California, they're paying $4.50 a gallon!

Clueless Joe opens his mouth again!

Gas prices in California are nearer to all-time highs than they have been in recent memory, as most pumps around the state remain close to the $5 mark.

Around the state, average cost per gallon jumped ¢6 over just the last week, with prices taking a jump on six-of-seven days this week. Average prices in the city are now $4.66 a gallon.

At this point last year, gas prices were around $1.50 less than they are in 2021 – for instance, a car with a 14-gallon tank will cost an average of $21 extra dollars to fill-up.

As a Californian I can attest to this.  Finding premium over $5 a gallon is becoming more common.  Regular is generally 20-40 cents a gallon less than premium.  I found the “bargain” in Redding, Ca. at $4.23 for 87 grade and $4.43 for 91 grade octane.  $4.59 and 4.89 are average here.
