Well with the market flooded with "Streamers" already, I can see why. Content probably sucks..........being CNN

CNN+ is shutting down almost as quickly as it launched.

The streaming service will end on April 30, Warner Bros. Discovery announced Thursday, barely three weeks after its March 29 launch.

"As we become Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN will be strongest as part of WBD's streaming strategy which envisions news as an important part of a compelling broader offering along with sports, entertainment, and nonfiction content," Chris Licht, Chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, said in a statement.

By shutting down the streaming service, the company will "focus our investment on CNN's core news-gathering operations and in further building CNN Digital," he said.

"This is not a decision about quality; we appreciate all of the work, ambition and creativity that went into building CNN+, an organization with terrific talent and compelling programming," Licht said. "But our customers and CNN will be best served with a simpler streaming choice."

The service, which cost $5.99 a month, was supposed to increase CNN's live programs and its library, including new shows from former Fox News host Chris Wallace and NBC's Kasie Hunt and daily programming with CNN staples like Kate Bolduan, Sara Sidner, Brian Stelter and Wolf Blitzer.

The library featured documentary series like "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown," "Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy," "This is Life with Lisa Ling" and "United Shades of America" with W. Kamau Bell.

But the audience had been slow to latch on and CNBC reported last week that fewer than 10,000 people were using CNN+ daily.

Subscribers will be offered a pro-rated refund, the network said.

"Consumers are the center of our strategy," J.B. Perrette, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, said in a statement.

"In a complex streaming market, consumers want simplicity and an all-in service which provides a better experience and more value than stand-alone offerings, and, for the company, a more sustainable business model to drive our future investments in great journalism and storytelling. We have very exciting opportunities ahead in the streaming space and CNN, one of the world's premier reputational assets, will play an important role there.''

The article is about CNN.  Trying to deflect it to Trump does answer the question [deleted]

CNN plus gone.  Chris Cuomo canned.  Rachel Maddow only on once a week.  CNN saying they are moving to news.  Concern about Don Lemon and Brian Selter heads on the chopping block.

I am afraid I am going to start seeing liberals walking around aimlessly in the streets looking for commands to follow. I will feel sad for them as soon as I stop laughing about it.

Hope Wallace has a guaranteed contract. Otherwise he will be singing the CNN blues.

This is hilarious.  The took "If you build it they will come" and tried to make it "If you charge for it they will pay".

I would love to see the resume of the guy that had this idea.  Started CNN plus as a pay per view because no one wanted to watch CNN for free.

I guess Chris Wallace will retire.  I only hope Brian Selter does not get canned, he gives so much material to Gutfeld I would hate to see it go.

“…material to Gutfeld…”

So let us agree the fox vs. cnn infowar is less about info and only about the manufactured war.

Sad state of affairs…codependency run rampant.

I think the difference is someone like gutfeld does not pretend he is news.

“…gutfeld does not pretend he is news.”

As being ‘right down the center’ you get the shtick. Sadly, too many ‘foxaholics’ take it verbatim.

It is mind boggling how many people can't seem to differentiate between news and opinion shows. Fox has a couple of news shows and I am having trouble finding any actual news on CNN or msnbc.

Examples of stories covered by Fox "News" shows.

What is wrong with Joe Biden?

Are colleges taking away free speech rights?

Most illegal immigrants in history.

Hunter Biden Under Investigation

Black Live Matter Leader Files For Bankruptcy

All of these would be legitimate stories on their own. Taken in total they represent a point of view. That is how the "news" programs on Fox News roll.

In the case of cnn and msnbc each show is opinion, it is not the sum of several shows.

Fox is over 90 % opinion shows and CNN and msnbc are closer to 100% opinion. Are you saying your examples were on fox news like Bret baier?

Fox News has the right balance between News and opinion and its opinions are correct.

CNN has made a lot of good documentaries in the past decade or so. This CNN+ streaming service was meant to be a place where people could view these documentaries, and other "documentary" type material for a "small" monthly fee.

That is pretty much all there is to this story. People are tired of being bled dry by 6 dollars a month for this and 7 dollars a month for that. It adds up fast.

The failure of this service is more about the streaming business model than it is about CNN.

People pick the two or three streaming services they want. CNN plus is obviously not one of them.  People did not want to add it or replace services like hulu with it.  Just as obvious is CNN was wrong when they thought people would want to pay 7 dollars for their brand of crap. It shows that CNN has an inflated view of their worth to people

Lucky for the world you are not the person that determines what is and is not news.  Personally I consider a media company spending millions to start up a venture that fails 3 weeks after launch is news.

If CNN thought their content was worth 2 cents, they greatly exaggerated its true value.  They needed to consider paying people to take it.

Still trying to pivot back to Trump I see.  I wonder if there is a medical term for that.  Do you have a comment about the actual topic?  You know, the great liberal media giant that spent 300 million dollars thinking liberals would flock to them and then failed within 3 weeks.

I guess we can now say Chris Wallace screwed himself. Remember how he constantly interrupted President Trump?

As they say in Brooklyn: "What goes around, comes around"

I guess we can now say Chris Wallace screwed himself.

Wallace turns 75 this year.  He and his wife have a Wash DC house worth $4-6M and a waterfront home an hour away in Annapolis, Maryland.  If he really wants to continue working and if CNN wants to avoid a cancellation fee, they may move his new show to a slot on the main CNN cable channel.  Otherwise, he might be very happy to retire with his $25M net worth.

I can't imagine wanting to keep working at that age having that much money.  If he wants to God bless him.  While I understand his issue with fox getting a little farther away from hard news than he would like CNN has no news at all.  I guess he thought he would be insulated from their bullshit but in the end their bullshit was just too much to overcome. Personally I could not wait until I was 65 and retired at 64.

Nobody was watching CNN for free. What on God's green earth 🌍 gave them the idea that someone would actually pay good 💰 to watch it.
