WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Israel and the United Arab Emirates reached a historic deal on Thursday that will lead to a full normalization of diplomatic relations between the two Middle Eastern nations in an agreement that U.S. President Donald Trump helped broker.

Under the agreement, Israel has agreed to suspend applying sovereignty to areas of the West Bank that it has been discussing annexing, senior White House officials told Reuters.
The deal was the product of lengthy discussions between Israel, the UAE and the United States that accelerated recently, White House officials said.
The agreement was sealed in a phone call on Thursday between Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed.
"HUGE breakthrough today! Historic Peace Agreement between our two GREAT friends, Israel and the United Arab Emirates," Trump wrote on Twitter.
In the White House Oval Office, Trump said discussions between the two leaders had sometimes been tense. He said similar deals are being discussed with other countries in the region. A signing ceremony including delegations from Israel and the United Arab Emirates will be held at the White House in the coming weeks, Trump added.
"Everybody said this would be impossible," Trump said. "After 49 years, Israel and the United Arab Emirates will fully normalize their diplomatic relations. They exchange

Ahhh, If only it was somebody else, there might just be a Nobel Peace Prize!

Congrats Mr President!

A Nobel peace prize for what? Congrats to the President for what? The Palestinians didn't agree to this deal and they are furious with the UAE.

"The Israeli government did not pledge to recognize Palestinian sovereignty over the West Bank. It did not promise to halt or even slow the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories. Rather, Israel agreed that it will not illegally annex its settlements in the West Bank, in wanton defiance of international law and opinion — for a little while."

This deal in no way guarantees any peace. It's basically a business deal between UAE leaders and Israel but doesn't actually resolve anything. In fact, it may further inflame violence in the region. So go ahead and pat the idiot in the white house on the back, but this is as useless a brokered deal as the one he got with Kim Jong Un, which was nothing.

It may set up a situation where Israeli air and naval forces may well help defend the UAE from Iran in the future.  This is a great deal and it further isolates the Palestinians from the rest of the Arab world.

It certainly cannot be any worse than the bogus Nobel Prize that Trump's predecessor got 6 months into his first term without doing squat to earn it.

I agree with you there, but that doesn't mean the Nobel committee should double the offense by giving one to the most divisive inept President in modern history.

This is only the third middle eastern country to normalize relations with Israel. Remember when Egypt was the first?  It is always a risky move for any of those countries.

The Palestinians didn't agree to this deal and they are furious with the UAE.

I'm sure they are. Come closer....LET THEM POUND SAND.....They had many great deals offered to them but they just wouldn't consent to Israel's right to exist.

This deal in no way guarantees any peace. It's basically a business deal between UAE leaders and Israel but doesn't actually resolve anything.

It does a few things - First and foremost it lines up the US, Israel and the UAE against the region's great aggressor nation & sponsor of terrorism - Iran.

Sorry, to hear that the usual suspects disapprove.

If this is all proves to be correct, it is indeed very good news.  I fervently hope so.

Just a footnote:  "Trump said he wanted it to be called the Donald J. Trump Accord."    Can't he ever give it a f-ing break?  If he wins re-election, does he want it called the United States of Trump?

That's part of the complex. Have you ever had a fiend who was bullied as a child? It changes their personality. They always have to give themselves the credit that the bullies denied them.

why the low grade?

Dropping out of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change

Dropping out of the Iran Nuclear Deal (without providing any better alternative)

Dropping out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership

Wholesale evisceration of vital environmental regulations

Profiting from the Presidency often at taxpayers' expense

Inviting foreign governments to interfere in our elections

Cozying up to dictators while disparaging our allies

Seemingly conducting aspects of American foreign policy for the benefit of Russia, not the United States

Promoting blatant racism (NOT TROLLING)

Lying to the American people on a daily basis  (NOT TROLLING)

Abysmal failure with regard to the Coronavirus pandemic

Failing to accept responsibility for his many mistakes

Taking credit for his predecessor's accomplishments

... just to name a few reasons for his well-deserved "F".

Dropping out of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change

The agreement that only had America doing things. When was big polluter China supposed to stop polluting?
I gave Trump an A on that.

Dropping out of the Iran Nuclear Deal (without providing any better alternative)

The unholy agreement that Obama couldn't even hope Congress would enact as a treaty? The one that enriched Iran and basically depended on Iran's word? The one that would eventually allow Iran to build nuclear weapons?
I gave Trump an A for that plus the sanctions he added.

Dropping out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership

OMG.....Even Hillary Clinton ran away from that one
I gave Trump an A+ for that

Wholesale evisceration of vital environmental regulations

More like a realistic balanced approach to what helped drive many corporations away.

Profiting from the Presidency often at taxpayers' expense

False. The President doesn't even take his salary.

Inviting foreign governments to interfere in our elections

False.

Cozying up to dictators while disparaging our allies

False.

Promoting blatant racism (NOT TROLLING)

False and outrageous! Trump was the President who signed the "First Step Act" into law, funded historically black colleges & Universities and achieved the unique distinction of achieving full employment - the first & only time since records were kept (we all know that China wiped that away!). It hardly sounds like a "racist."

Lying to the American people on a daily basis  (NOT TROLLING)

False. Clearly there are more lies about Trump than he could ever tell in two lifetimes.

Abysmal failure with regard to the Coronavirus pandemic

If you think it was a failure, you need to blame Dr Fauci - It was his advice that was followed.

Failing to accept responsibility for his many mistakes

The many mistakes you can't seem to recall?

Taking credit for his predecessor's accomplishments

His predecessor was a radical leftist who told us all that he intended to transform this nation, which he seemed to deeply resent. The only legacy he left us was $20 Trillion in debt, federal judges who have led the resistance, the politicization of government agencies and a lot of dead cops.

Now, we all know that if Obama had done this, we all would hear nothing but royal accolades from the left, including, the leftist media, and talk of another Peace Prize would overshadow the Biden/Harris debacle.

What I am highly surprised about is that those same leftists have not come out and said Obama was the one that started all this and Trump just carried on with it, so Obama should get all the kudos anyway.

Of course, we know Obama would never do anything that is beneficial to Israel. He hates Israel just as much, if not more, than the US.

Just an interesting tidbit - perhaps coincidence - about the UAE going nuclear. Now of course the UAE has promised to just use nuclear energy for power plants.

As far as Israel is concerned - "peace" will not happen until they have regained all of the land promised by God to Abraham.

For starters - all of the Palestinians will need to be removed from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

For starters.

You see, the amount of land promised Abraham is a bit larger than some are aware of which will make any "peace treaty" a bit difficult.
