Absolutely wonderful photos - each one better than the others.  When I first saw the top photo, the world that came to mind was "tanglewood", the second - "amazing", the third - "majestic", and the turkey - the song "So long, it's been good to know you".

This is another piece of my art collection.  I collect three dimensional things with faces, like masks, busts, statues, and anything with a face cast into it.  This is a corbel that was hand painted by an artisan somewhere in the Shenandoah Valley.  I’ve never come across anything else like it, which makes it worth what I paid for it.

At my uncle's house in the Hudson River Valley just before dinner, when we last visited him in 2016.  He has no lights in his dining room.  He uses candles and kerosene lamps.  There was some repair work being done on his deck at the time, so some of the equipment made it into the bottom photo.  That's a stone sitting on a plate as a decorative element.  The exterior photo was taken earlier in the day.  He designed the house and had it built in 1980.  He designed a few others in the area after he retired from his career as an art director in the advertising field.  His father, my grandfather, was an architect.  He is an interesting guy.

The chandelier (dear antlers?) appears to be topped with light fixtures, or what could be just glass candle shields.  The low light does accentuate that magnificent view towards the hills and valley.  Lots of glass - guess the heating bill is not exactly miniscule.  LOL

The chandier is antlers and those are candle shields.  The chandelier is not wired for lighting.

It is a bit hard to see, but the middle photo shows the Hudson River.

Interestingly, I have spoken with him when he has been snowed in and he said the house was very warm inside because of the windows.  Hot, in fact.  I'm not sure how that works, but it must have been when the sun was out, I guess.

He may have had double paned environmental windows. They hold both the heat and cold out while leaving a comfortable temp inside.

Yes, I noticed the river.  I was once on the Hudson River myself, when I was with the man who ran the Fox Hollow Folk Festival in upstate N.Y. who took me after his festival to visit Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi on their sloop the Clearwater that was docked on the river.

Lovely picture Buzz. Lots of bright colors, and cool reflections on the water.

The Yellow River near Luoyang - The Cradle of Chinese Civilization

I will have to find out more about Luoyang, I have read about how China itself cam into being through the long history of Korea and Asia, and many different names that have been given to that which is now China. It is fascinating to me and I love to see how history evolves over the many years.

Actually it is the Yellow River that is the cradle of Chinese civilization - I think I misled you.  In the past I have posted photo-essays about Luoyang, about the annual peonie festival (the national flower of China), the Longmen Grottoes, the White Horse Temple, the Geological Park, and Luoyang itself.

and Luoyang itself.

I have seen some historical Chinese movies about Luoyang and the many battles for the town from various countries, most of them vying with each other for control of Luoyang. I have learned a lot about the early days of the birth of China and it's many early names, from both the Chinese and Korean historical  movies.

It is fascinating how the names have changed and switched hands, so to speak, and the growth of all of Asia. The artwork that developed along the way is just fantastic. How it has changed in both countries and yet how much it has stayed the same. The artwork tells the story of both the past and going forward throughout their history.

Indeed Buzz. It is truly fascinating that the Tribes here in America have such a variation in their artwork. And it is all so beautiful, and much of it tells stories of the history of their Tribe and their Traditions, Cultures and Beliefs.

The Tribes of Alaska have such a very different style of artwork, and it too is so very beautiful.

The differences of the style of artwork of the varied Tribes is very interesting, and I try to show the various styles in my own artwork, as I don't want to just stay with the Cherokee artwork. there is so much to learn about the different Tribes through their artwork.
