President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Wednesday to Joe Biden on his election as president of the United States, highlighting the importance for China and the US to focus on cooperation, manage differences and work toward the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.

Xi noted in the message that the sound and stable development of China-US relations not only fits into the fundamental interests of people from both countries but also meets the common aspiration of the international community.

He expressed hope that the two sides can develop a relationship featuring no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation and jointly promote the noble cause of global peace and development with different countries and the international community.

Vice-President Wang Qishan also sent a message to Kamala Harris on Wednesday to congratulate her on her election as US vice-president.

I have not seen a report indicating that any leader or VP of another country has congratulated Harris on her victory.

I'm not sure either.  Regardless, it was a nice and diplomatic thing to do.  (Well hells bells, Buzz.  Now I'm curious.  I'll search around and see what I can find.)

Many of us voted for Biden AND Harris. She was the icing on the cake.

Lucked out is putting it mildly. She ran completely pathetic campaign in the primaries. She was the first candidate to drop out because she ran out of cash. Her campaign was described as chaotic. And she received zero delegates. And now she will become president when biden can no longer function because of dementia. Unfrickenbelievable.

She was the first candidate to drop out because she ran out of cash.

Bill De Blasio dropped out Sept. 20th.

Eric Swalwell dropped out July 8th.

Steve Bullock dropped out December 2nd.

Kristen Gillibrand dropped out August 28th.

Mike Gravel dropped out August 6th.

Jay Inslee dropped out August 21st.

John Hickenlooper dropped out August 15th.

Beto O'Rourke dropped out November 1st.

Joe Sestak dropped out December 1st.

Tim Ryan dropped out October 24th.

Seth Moulton dropped out August 23rd.

Wayne Messam dropped out November 20th.

Kamala Harris dropped out December 3rd, 2019.  I might not be the smartest peach in the basket, but it would seem that she was far from being the first presidential candidate to suspend her campaign.

I was absolutely a combined victory.  Besides, if it didn't matter who was chosen as VP, then a VP wouldn't be named until after the election with all the other positions.

Rest assured that Kamala Harris made this election even more important than usual.

Right on Sis! It is an election that will open many doors that were not made available before, and hopefully, this election will lead to even more firsts in the coming years.

When Joe Biden nominated her for VP, I had a true sense of hope for the first time in 4 years.  She was the perfect choice.

It wasn't just you who had a true sense of hope for the first time, it was every young girl in America, especially those of colour, who have learned that they can reach for the stars - and achieve.

It was both their victory. Harris played a big part in Biden's win, as well as her own, as many voters of color turned out in large numbers, probably as large, or larger, than when Obama ran both times.

The Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American and many other ethnic voters that had not voted as much in previous elections turned out in never before seen numbers. Harris will be the first woman to be elected to be VP, and the first Black and Indian woman as well. So she represents a very wide group of voters.

So you can't negate her vital part in the victory of the Biden/Harris ticket.

"It wasn't her victory it was Joe's, Harris just lucked out being on the ticket."

I thought they were a team.  Personally, I think it was a classy thing to do when China's Vice President, Xi Jinping's second in command, congratulated her.  However, I know that Trump supporters will never admit anything good about a Democrat.  I despise Trump for good reasons, because of his having the blood of hundreds of thousands of Americans on his hands, because of his ADMITTED trivializing and delay in doing anything substantial about the virus ("It'll go away in the summer" "It will disappear, like a miracle" "I didn't want the people to panic") and especially, since I'm married to a Chinese woman, his xenophobic racist language which has led to harrassment and attacks on Chinese Americans, a few of whom my wife and I happen to know.  HOWEVER, I COMMEND him for keeping his promise to move the embassy to Jerusalem, for recognizing the Golan Heights as justly belonging to Israel, for bringing about the normalization of relations between Israel and the U.A.E. and Bahrain.  I'll bet that NO Turmpster will EVER admit that the Democrats or Biden or Harris have EVER done or will ever do anything right or good.  And THAT'S the reason I've lost any respect for Trumpsters - prove me wrong.
