Flynn offers to testify on Russia ties in exchange for immunity: report

President Trump's former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has reportedly told the FBI that he is willing to testify about the Trump campaign's potential ties to Russia, in exchange for immunity from prosecution, according to a Wall Street Journal report .

Flynn resigned in February, after it was reported that he misled White House staff on his interactions with Russia and had discussed sanctions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak ahead of President Trump's inauguration.

The Journal reported, citing officials familiar with the matter, that the FBI and the House and Senate Intelligence committees that are investigating Russia's attempts to interfere in the U.S. election have not taken his lawyers up on the offer.

Flynn spoke with Kislyak multiple times during the transition, including on Dec. 29, the day then-President Obama retaliated against Moscow for its hacking of Democratic political groups and individuals, which intelligence agencies say was done to aid Trump’s campaign.

Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, whose ties to Russia have been under scrutiny, and son-in-law Jared Kushner  earlier this week  volunteered to interview with the House Intelligence Committee's probe of Russian interference — but not with any conditions of immunity.

FBI Director James Comey last week  confirmed  that the bureau is investigating Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election — including any links or coordination between members of Trump's campaign and Moscow.

It was also recently revealed that Flynn was paid thousands of dollars by three Russian companies, including state-run media outlet RT, shortly before taking a formal position in Trump's campaign.

It's the FBI's move. If they already got him, they don't need his testimony. But if Flynn has something they don't have...Hmmmmm

There are really only 2 possible reasns Flynn wold agree to testify:

1. He is a man of great ethical standards, & wants to do the right thing. (By revealing the widespread corruption and treason within the Trump administration).

2. He could care less about that. Rather, he is terrified of the possibility that all of his personal wrong-doing will be revealed, and he will be prosecuted for that-- and be jailed for a long, long time. So all he really cares about is using this as a way to get immunity.

Golly gee-- I wonder which of these 2 possibilities it is? ('Tis a mystery indeed! winking )

Can you hear the assholes on the cons./repubes/ Orange Peckerwood supporters puckering up over this news. Don't choke with your heads up your asses, Trump supporters. This investigation  will be the biggest goat rodeo since Watergate. Oh yeah, remember that one? All it took was for John Dean to be given immunity, and Haldeman, Erlichman, Mitchell, went to jail. And Tricky Dick would have too, in civil court, but Ford pardoned his guilty, slimy ass. You remember, Nixon don't you? And then there was immunity granted Ollie North who took the fall for that other stellar example of the GOP, Ronald Reagan. Or do you need to be reminded about that little fiasco, the Iran-Contra Deal. Bad actor, worse President.

I am not sure this is the nail in the coffin for the Trump team that people think it is. Although it could be. Flynn will testify in secret. If he has immunity we might never hear what he has to say.

Flynn's lawyer says that there is a "demand" that he be prosecuted coming from his and Trump's opponents and 'enemies'. Flynn's lawyer says it would be negligent to let him testify without immunity in a witch-hunt environment.

That is not to say that there IS a witch hunt environment against Flynn, but if he thinks there is it could effect his desire to demand immunity before he talks.

I think we need to see this play out a little more before it becomes clearer.

Whatever comes of this JR, it's going to have some serious repercussions...

It may takes months before immunity is granted, if it is at all.

Very true. Granting immunity in any case is usually a slow dance involving the prosecution and the defense lawyer(s).

"Grant immunity, or we won't say anything."

"Well, first tell us what you know, then we'll see."

"No! Immunity first!"

"Okay, give us a taste of what you have..."

"Alright, but just a nibble..."

And so on.

Between this and the Nunes fiasco the administrations  credibility is really headed in the wrong direction.

No matter what comes of the Flynn and Nunes situations, it's not helping the administration and could have a really damaging affect on them.

It's going to be entertaining.

IMHO, Between this and the Nunes fiasco the administrations  credibility is really headed in the wrong direction.

The administration has no credibility and  anything they say should be taken as a lie until shown otherwise.
