Pelosi on the 'collateral damage' of Democrats' economic policies: 'So be it'
“We owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there is some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it, but it shouldn’t be our original purpose,”

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said American voters will simply have to deal with the “collateral damage” that comes their way if Democrats craft economic policies in the years ahead.

The California Democrat recently sat down with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman in the Big Apple to discuss public policy. The event, hosted by the Jewish organization 92nd Street Y, included a portion on climate change that sparked the lawmaker’s pronouncement.

“We owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there is some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it, but it shouldn’t be our original purpose,” she said Sunday.

Her commentary came against a political backdrop in which the U.S. unemployment rate is at a 49-year low — 3.7 percent — in conjunction with moderate inflation.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell   said   earlier this month, for instance, that Americans are enjoying a “historically rare” economic climate.

Mrs. Pelosi added that Democrats may find areas of compromise with Republicans on policies related to infrastructure, the Washington Free Beacon   reported   Thursday.

Actually, your seed makes it pretty clear that you have no desire to 'listen'.

As long as you can post the truncated sound bit and spread the propaganda, it's oh so fulfilling.

You don't care what the question was from Krugman and you REALLY don't care what Pelosi's full statement was. Y'all would much rather accept the misleading BULLSHIT from a RW hack, who is merely filling y'all's echo chamber, than to actually LISTEN to the question from Krugman and the FULL answer from Pelosi.

I get it, short attention span, an utter lack of curiosity about the truth and a partisan agenda make it so much easier to just swill the pablum.

Well done, enjoy...

I said her statement was TRUNCATRED Vic.

So now we have the author of the seed misrepresenting what Pelosi said and YOU misrepresenting what I said.

It's what the RW does and it ultimately enables scum like O'Keefe so they can have their propaganda confirmed through his BS edited videos and partial truths.

No one that has replied to this seed, besides me, gives a shit what Pelosi's 'full statement' was. They're enjoying the propaganda value of the truncated version far too much. The full content and context would be far less entertaining to y'all.

That's not true, Dulay. Here are some examples. I deliberately omitted the second parts of the first two quotations, because they don't apply to your criticism of comma usage and attribution.

a comma leading into the attribution .

That's not true, Dulay.

Yes it is Jasper.

BTFW, YOU truncated what you cited from your link. It says in FULL;

Interrupt the quote with an attribution to the speaker. Again, you will need to use a comma after the verb, as well as a comma leading into the attribution.

By doing so, you misrepresented the CONTEXT in your own source.

This it the more relevant 'tip/tool' of from your own link:

Excerpt those fragments carefully!
Quoting the words of others carries a big responsibility. Misquoting misrepresents the ideas of others.

Here’s a classic example of a misquote:
John Adams has often been quoted as having said: “This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it.”

John Adams did, in fact, write the above words. But if you see those words in context, the meaning changes entirely. Here’s the rest of the quotation:

Twenty times, in the course of my late reading, have I been on the point of breaking out, ‘this would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!!!!’ But in this exclamation, I should have been as fanatical as Bryant or Cleverly. Without religion, this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in public company—I mean hell.

As you can see from this example, context matters!

This example is from Paul F. Boller, Jr. and John George, They Never Said It: A Book of Fake Quotes, Misquotes, and Misleading Attributions (Oxford University Press, 1989).

Emphasis mine...

From the CoC:

An impasse call is a comment that contains one and only one word: ‘IMPASSE’.

Since you saw fit to make a comment with much more than one word, your 'IMPASSE' isn't valid.

I'm NOT derailing the seed. The proof of that is that my comments haven't been removed as off topic and multiple members have replied to my comment including YOU and the seeder.

Pelosi on the 'collateral damage' of Democrats' economic policies: 'So be it'

Well that attitude seems to be an improvement over that of the GOP's  f$%k them.

I have no more use for the Dems than the GOP, but at least they don't make it a point to go after those that have the least. I find this rather ironic indeed.

Just as an aside, the Dems do not seem to have an economic plan at this juncture (or much of any other) and are the minority party so why the worry about what Ms. Pelosi may or may not say?

Have to come up with  programs were folks have some skin in the game. Really doesn't matter which party is in power it has just been more of the same from the GOP or the Dems.

For starters, our infrastructure is crumbling around us. Why not formulate something along the lines of the CCC, people are trained while receiving the minimal to get by, they get a trade and improved upward mobility, we get roads and bridges in return for the investment.

At present the system is rigged against seeking work for those on the lower economic strata receiving assistance. Jobs available to them do not warrant coming off aid in most cases, help them and it helps us all. But in order for that to occur you must break the present system.

My thought for the moment.

Not accusing the GOP of murder, but the point being that neither party is as pure as they would have us believe.

Can't help but notice that YOU can't point out WHERE I EVER stated that Pelosi was 'misquoted'. Please post the link to my comment where you claim I did so. I'll wait...

Can you point out the "half truth" perhaps?

Now that you've posted a link to the video, I can point out a complete LIE in your seed that members can check out for themselves.

The California Democrat recently sat down with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman in the Big Apple to discuss public policy. The event, hosted by the Jewish organization 92nd Street Y, included a portion on climate change that sparked the lawmaker’s pronouncement.

So the author states that the statement he goes on to TRUNCATE was 'sparked' by a question during a 'portion on climate change'.

That isn't a 'half-truth', it's A LIE.

Using you convenient link to the video, members can go to 50:25 in that video an LISTEN to the ACTUAL question asked by Krugman and Pelosi's FULL answer.

Note that the question was asked during the audience submitted Q&A, NOT during any 'climate change portion' as FALSELY claimed in the seed.

“We owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security,

So presumably she'll be introducing mandatory financial responsibility legislation for all those people who spend more than they make.

Excellent idea.

Pelosi and Krugman make a hell of a team.

If you want a clueless, braindead, almost-always-wrong kind of team.
