Trump has seemed desperate to keep his taxes secret, but I think the main reason ( that he paid no taxes for years) is somewhat old news at this point.

Still he fights it. So maybe there is an unknown bombshell.

People wonder why you defend one of the biggest assholes in American history.

The problem is that Trump is being investigated, prosecuted, and persecuted by these people for no other reason than they think he's a asshole. That's why they call it a Witch Hunt, they're not going after Trump because he committed a specific crime they're investigating him looking for a crime they can charge him with because they hate him. I think they're right about Trump being an Asshole but the only thing their investigation has proven thus far is that they are Bigger Assholes.

I am confident that you recognize that Trump is an asshole.   That Trump demands utmost loyalty, exploits that loyalty and then throws people under the bus when convenient for himself.   That Trump gratuitously insults people based on their looks, handicaps, failures and pretty much any slight he can come up with (e.g. diminishing the service of McCain because he was captured and suffered as a P.O.W.).

Regardless of his politics, surely you recognize that as a human being, the label 'asshole' is a fitting description for Trump's behavior.

And to your point, I agree that even assholes have the presumption of innocence and deserve due process.  But we should factor in what we know here and recognize that Trump may be legally presumed innocent but going after him legally is not like going after Oprah.   The likelihood of finding dishonest / ruthless practices by Trump seems rather high to me.

now we can get all of Obama's records, right?

Obama released seven years’ worth of his prior tax returns during his 2008 presidential campaign, then, while in office, he published on the White House website his tax returns for 2008 through 2015. President Obama did not release his college records but they were not "sealed" as some dumb shit conservative haters claimed. Trump, on the other hand, had his attorneys send threatening letters to Fordham University’s president that said releasing Trump’s college records, grades or SAT scores without his consent could “lead to jail time,” and requested confirmation that “the records have been permanently sealed.”

Trump on your brain 24/7/365

Trump has been out of office for just a month yet Obama's been out of office for over four years and yet some still have him on the brain apparently.

what's the problem, do you think obama is too dumb to have graduated from harvard law school as editor of the law review ?

Do you know what trump's classmates at u of pennsylvania said about him?

“This was a major, major thing with Trump — that people might think he’s stupid,” Michael Wolff told me around the time of   Siege ’s publication earlier this summer. “The focus of that for Trump is the college transcripts, which are apparently terrible. I’ve spoken to friends of Trump from that time, and this was a guy that was obviously not interested in school and possibly never read a book in his life. For everyone that had known him then and years afterward, the assumption was that he had terrible grades, he was a lackluster student at best.”

Taxes show what a person's financial situation is. Knowing what a president's financial situation is important to be able to discount any financial conflicts of interest that may affect a public officials use of their power. Especially our top politician, the president of the United States of America.

Before we give them Power !

None of which are traditionally released by any President and weren't released by dishonest Donald either. Not sure why so many conservatives were trying to demand them of President Obama unless they were of the racist opinion that a black man couldn't have scored well or somehow didn't deserve the education he received.

What evidence would that be? And we'll never know what's in those returns unless charges are brought.

Well, we know through his former attorney that Trump regularly falsified property values, estimated them extremely low when it came to paying taxes on them and estimated them excessively high when requesting bank loans which is both tax fraud and bank fraud if done intentionally. Proving the intentionality will be the only difficult hurdle as the evidence of such wildly different estimated values will no doubt be clear. And for those who keep saying that the IRS didn't flag anything as they were doing their audits, they do not get access to the bank loan applications for comparison so they would not have known if Trump was claiming some property at excessively low values while at the same time showing them for an exorbitant value when using them as collateral for loans with Deutsche bank which would directly contradict the low value used in an attempt to avoid paying taxes.

So we may never know the specifics unless charges are brought, but we know what prosecutors are investigating and it doesn't look good for Trump. I don't doubt that Trump will throw everyone, even his own kids, under the bus if it allows him to avoid jailtime so we'll see if any of this sticks. Like other wannabe mob bosses Trump seems to be fairly careful about always using language when asking his employees to do things that don't specifically say "do this tax fraud" or "do this bank fraud" as his former attorney admitted, it's always been Trump implying what results he wants and eluding to the consequences for failure without specifically spelling out the crimes he is asking them to commit to get said results. We know that was the same problem with the case against Al Capone but the math doesn't lie which is why he went to prison not on any of the murder charges he was no doubt guilty of but tax fraud.

I suspect Trump's tax returns will end up being the least of his problems.

His real and only financial problems will the 'two decade float' Trump businesses received from yet to be disclosed sources which the tax returns will open.  The question isn't the tax returns per se', but the funding which made up the tax returns.  ( This too ); The returns that contain made up disclosures.
