Since the start of this year, Fox News has mentioned Afghanistan the most of the three channels.

Looking just since the start of this month when CNN and MSNBC pivoted away from Afghanistan, the difference in mentions between the two and Fox News is stark.

US-based search interest via Google Trends presents a timeline more similar to CNN and MSNBC's coverage, peaking quickly and then steadily fading away in contrast to Fox News' sustained interest in the country.

This was completely predictable, in fact I predicted it here.

If an earthquake destroyed Los Angeles tomorrow, within a month the story would largely recede from the daily news cycle. Its just the way things work in the 21st century.

Then why doesnt "Trump" recede, you ask? Because he has not gone away. He continually throws gas on the fire.

Benghazi took a long time to go away because the Republican controlled Congress at the time kept having new hearings about it.

Americans cared about the image of America abandoning a war we had fought for 20 years and the  plight of the people left there.  That is receding.

The idea that the Republicans will be able to run in 2022 on the "Afghanistan" issue strikes me as very wishful thinking.

Of course the left wing media wants to move on from Biden's fuck ups..

Just like it ignores the reality of the thousands of migrants waiting under the bridge in Del Rio..

The media has pretty much forgotten about  the event of January 6 also

It must be a big bridge, current estimates are that there are more than 10,000 migrants camping under the bridge as of Thursday evening.  It's a simple google search..

It is pretty large, and they have managed to squash in lots of immigrants!

Big enough for at least 10,000 migrants according to yahoo news.
There is even a video if you care to see the truth.

Well we all should definitely move on from Afghanistan.  After all, they're just Afghans.  There is no likelihood of them voting for a Democrat, so they don't really even count as people.

Not to mention that there are a lot of Americans still trapped over there.  And permanent American residents who were visiting family when Biden decided to cut and run.  Americans held hostage day 34 now. How dare Fox News still cover that.

Yeah, some folks think this will all go away in 2022, because of the alleged conservatives in todays' gqp.

We have plenty of issues to run on against the alleged conservatives in todays' gqp.

That the scumbags in the media don't care about AMERICANS that were LEFT BEHIND in Afghanistan and are being hunted by the enemy does not surprise me.  They despise America almost as much as the DPSM's of America.

Mr. Russell, there will be much more to include when running against a DPSM in 2022 that Afghanistan, although the vision of American flag draped coffins being unloaded while Biden checks his watch will be quite powerful.

But the debacle currently playing out on the border with tens of thousands of illegal aliens being shown, the economy tanking with the Biden tax proposals being displayed, the cost of living going through the roof, crime rates going up exponentially in all major cities, especially controlled those controlled by Democrats and of course the never ending battle with the China created COVID virus will be more than enough fodder to destroy the Democrats hopefully before they destroy America.

By the way, it is not just CNN and MSNBC that dont do Afghanistan stories as much anymore, it is mainstream media across the board. Except for Fox and right wing media of course.

Tell us John, are all the US citizens that Biden abandoned in Afghanistan still stranded there? It is news; just not to leftists that don't give a shit about US citizens; and think covering for Biden is more important.

I am sure they are all hungerly awaiting the next Trump story; even if they have to manufacture it.

I believe that most of the remaining people are Afghani-Americans. Maybe they want to stay. If not , the State Dept. will help them get out.

Because they have done such a great damn job so far. jrSmiley_88_smiley_image.gif

There are still evacuation planes in Afghanistan that the Taliban/State Department refuse to let depart. There are US citizens that are supposed to leave on those planes. What is the hold up John? Is it the Taliban trying to prevent people they want killed or need from leaving; or is the State Department's concern that not all of the people have papers- some are children and spouses of US citizens. Funny they didn't give a damn about who departed on their evacuation flights from Kabul, If you made it into the airport- you got on a plane. No vetting required.

I've seen that. Her boyfriend has an interesting strategy. Just pretend he knows nothing about her whereabouts. It is an obvious lie but without a body they may have a difficult time proving he is responsible.

All cable news services both manipulate and are manipulated by their audiences and this is especially true in the evening hours when the impetus is to entertain.

Compare the news coverage of Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan to the news coverage of Trump's ordered drone strike on Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

Biden's botched withdrawal was no big deal with apologists aplenty on the opinion pages.  Trump's drone strike was a prelude to World War III with calls for accountability on the opinion pages.

Biden's botched withdrawal has harmed the standing of the United States in international affairs and has made the world less safe.  On the other hand, Trump's drone strike proved to be no big deal in world affairs and did remove a threat in the Middle East.

So, explain why we should trust the press?
