Does God Care About Haiti ?

Port-au-Prince ground to a halt Monday as a general strike called over the deteriorating security situation in the country left usually chaotic streets empty. The strike came just days after  17 US and Canadian missionaries were abducted  after visiting an orphanage.

Thousands of workers took part in the strike led by local unions and other civil society groups. Drivers of private moto taxis and public buses stayed home while businesses, schools and government offices were shuttered.

Some streets saw tire pyres alight in Port-au-Prince and in southern Haiti, the AP news agency reported some threw rocks at the few cars there were on the street.

According to Donald Trump Haiti is a shithole country.

Does the republican evangelical Christian God care about Haiti?

If yes, then why hasn't Haiti been delivered ?

Haiti: General strike comes after mass kidnapping of 17 missionaries

The streets of Port-au-Prince were eerily quiet Monday due to a general strike called over the security situation. The general strike comes days after 17 US and Canadian missionaries were abducted.

Can a Christian tell us why God has abandoned places like these "shitholes" ?

No of course.  But I think Christians should speak for the Christian god.

Trump is allegedly a Christian and he called Haiti a shithole country. What does his god say ?

I wanted to get this bumped up so I commented.

I wish Christians would speak for their God, instead of just saying that there is a reason we don't understand.  And I never believed Trump was a Christian.

Reminds me of a line from Storm of the Century:

“When his life was ruined, his family killed, his farm destroyed, Job knelt down on the ground and yelled up to the heavens, "Why god? Why me?" and the thundering voice of God answered, There's just something about you that pisses me off.”

Trump is nowhere close to being a Christian.

That's not how it works.  Always be very wary of anyone who claims to speak for God.

Trump is allegedly a Christian

He allegedly defeated Joe Biden, too.

and he called Haiti a shithole country.

In four years, this may be one of the half dozen or so times he was correct.

What does his god say ?

About Haiti specifically?  Impossible to say.

It is worth noting that Haiti is one of the most common destinations for "mission trips" of American Christians.  There are people going over there constantly to do everything from building housing to improving community facilities to providing medical care to teaching children.  However, I suspect current developments will curtail those operations significantly.

Oh, you tireless watcher
What have I done to you?
That you make everything I dread and everything I fear
Come true? (Man is the sire of sorrow)

Lyrics... sounds like a "WHY ME" lament.

On the 8th day God took a good look at the mess he created and abandoned it for a fresh start in a universe far far away. If the Bubble Theory is correct, this was not the first time.

According to Donald Trump Haiti is a shithole country.

Couldn't resist the unrelated jab could you.

Even the the Christian dominated country of the Dominican Republic closed their border with Haiti after the earthquake in 2010.

Everybody should care about the situation in Haiti.

And not just because of some X'tian missionaries!

The people of Haiti are really the only ones who can fix their problems.

Thus far, they have shown little inclination to actually do anything.

Haiti does not raise any question with me.   Throughout our history bad things happen to societies / geographical areas.   This is what one would expect if there were no overall governing force trying to keep life 'nice' for everyone.

If one holds that we are most likely entirely on our own in a universe that is demonstrably hostile to life, all the bad that we see is easily explained.   It is only when we imagine a governing force that cares about us do we get into these conundrums.
