The deadliest attack to target Iran since its 1979 Islamic Revolution has shaken the Islamic Republic and led to angry calls for vengeance.

On Wednesday,   at least 84 people were killed   and 284 others injured in the Iranian city of Kerman after twin blasts near the burial site of slain military commander Qasem Soleimani.

It is unclear who was behind the attack, which comes amid fears that Israel’s war with Gaza may spread to other parts of the Middle East, potentially drawing in regional powers and the United States.

ISIS appears to take credit for the bombings/

It looked like they've been fairly quiet lately-- seems like they're back in action. (And this was a pretty big attack).

Islam is concerned about "Non-believers". Which generally means non Muslims. However if there aren't any non-Muslims around, they take it to the next level: Muslims who they feel don't have the "right" beliefs are considered non-believers as well.

Most Muslims by far are Sunni Muslims. The other group are Shia Muslims (they comprise 15% or less of Muslims).

Except for a few scattered about, most Shia live in only four countries-- Iran, Azerbajan, parts of Iraq, some in Lebanon.

Earlier today, a US airstrike in Baghdad killed an Iran-linked militia commander.

Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba is a militia that has claimed several attacks on U.S. forces.  They have now stated that Mushtaq Jawad Al-Saidi, also known as Abu Taqwa, was killed in a strike today.  He was their Deputy for Operations.

I believe a Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) was used.  It's a relatively new munition for rotary wing aircraft and unmanned aerial systems.  JAGM utilizes a multimode seeker to provide precision point and fire-and-forget targeting day or night in adverse weather, battlefield obscured conditions, and against a variety of countermeasures.

I'm glad ISIS took responsibility. May both sides continue on.

There are also resistance movements within Iran.

Allow me to complete that sentence for you.

"May both sides continue on" killing each other.

The current iranian regime is a brutal theocracy. And they have their "morality police" which go around trying to enforce their perverted concept of "mortality". They are especially cruel to women-- several have been imprisoned, tortured, even murdered for not wearing headscarfs. And of course they murder gays-- or even those suspected of being gay.

I just saw an article where the Jordanian Air Force struck the border area with Syria. I believe this is the 3rd time in the last few years.
