Usually, the best indicator of Donald Trump's mental state at any given time is the tone and frequency of his social media posts. On Wednesday — in the aftermath of a new election-interference indictment from Special Counsel Jack Smith — the former president seemingly spent the morning scrolling through his Truth Social comments and "re-truthing" all manner of conspiratorial, sexist, and fascist content.

Trump posted dozens of memes and comments from accounts promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory, false claims about the 2020 election, sexist attacks against Kamala Harris, and the use of authoritarian tactics against his political enemies.

According to the progressive watchdog Media Matters, the former president promoted QAnon — an expansive conspiracy that claims Trump is waging battle against satanic forces that control the government — at least 15 times on Wednesday morning. These included images using the conspiracy slogan "Where We Go One, We Go All," and references to the conspiracy's belief that "the storm is coming."

Thread: Trump this morning amplified on Truth Social at least 6 different QAnon-promoting accounts a total of 15 times, including amplifying posts from one of them featuring the QAnon slogan & the QAnon phrase "nothing can stop what is coming." Below are images showing this. pic.twitter.com/H6dzHtOkt5
— Alex Kaplan (@AlKapDC) August 28, 2024

Trump also "re-truthed" a post featuring images of Vice President Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the words: "Funny how blowjobs impacted both of their careers differently."

— Azi™️ (@Azi) August 28, 2024

Trump boosted several posts and comments calling for prominent Democrats to be imprisoned. One such post featured the image of former President Barack Obama with the caption "All roads lead to Obama. Retruth if you want public military tribunals."

Another post on the former president's feed shows Harris, Hillary Clinton, President Joe Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates, and Hunter Biden in orange prison jumpsuits. The image text reads "How to actually 'fix the system.'"

Trump has publicly indicated that if reelected, he would use his office to exact revenge on Biden and other prominent political figures. Last year, after being charged with offenses related to his mishandling of classified documents, Trump vowed to appoint a "real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of the United States of America, Joe Biden. And the entire Biden crime family."

Wednesday's posting frenzy is one of several public meltdowns Trump has had in the last several weeks since his campaign was thrown off balance by Biden's exit from the race, and Harris' ascendance into the nomination. It's clear at this point that those around Trump are regularly doing damage control to keep him happy.

At one point in Wednesday's frenzy, Trump touted his recently formed TikTok account and accused Harris of having to "PAY FOR HER FAKE ENGAGEMENT" on social media.

"WE'RE BEATING HER 'LIKE A DRUM' LIKE WE WILL BEAT HER ON NOVEMBER 5TH. IT'S ALL FAKE, IT'S ALL MISINFORMATION AND DISINFORMATION. WE ARE DESTROYING THE DEMOCRATS ON SOCIAL MEDIA!" Trump wrote.

A senior Trump campaign official tells Rolling Stone that they are consistently relieved, for the sake of their 2024 campaign, that the former president's main social-media home is now Truth Social, if only because it limits the public reach and media attention that these kinds of posts receive, as Trump is trying to appeal to moderate and swing voters in the final months of the election. If Trump were still using X, formerly Twitter, as his primary social vehicle, this official asserts, the more "unhelpful" posting and re-posting sprees would get more public traction and drive more news cycles. (Trump has been posting on X more frequently since Elon Musk interviewed him earlier this month, but the bulk of his ranting takes place on Truth Social.)

That's not to say that what happens on Truth Social stays on Truth Social. On Thursday, Trump's digital meltdown during and after Harris' acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention spilled over into a series of erratic, angry calls on Fox News and Newsmax during their live convention coverage.

How many people do you believe are currently supporting Trump?

If you think it is less than tens of millions I would like to hear you explain his polling figures.

You are aware, I presume, that in the 2020 election, Trump received ~74 million votes.   His support would need to drop to less than 27% of his 2020 actual votes to NOT have tens of millions of supporters (27% = 20 million).

Very strange that you doubt this (of all things).   Love to hear whatever 'logic' you are using.

The 2020 election took place.   74 million is the true figure.   It is a fact.

So, again, you questioned that Trump's current support for 2024 is going to be more than 20 million (i.e. tens of millions).   By what bizarre 'logic' do you doubt he currently has tens of millions of supporters?

No I don't.   What I believe is that there are tens of millions of Trump supporters who actually believe the crap Trump spews.   They actually believe things like the PRA gives him the right to take classified documents, that the economy during his term was the best in our history, that he can stop wars with a phone call, that he will build a wall and essentially end illegal immigration, etc.

This should be obvious.  The GOP had a full primary with quite a few decent alternatives to Trump who were not pathological liars.   Yet the GOP electorate chose Trump.   Why nominate someone if you think he is full of shit?   Given 74 million people voted for Trump in 2020, it is a safe bet that there are at least 10s of millions (20 million or more) who have a cultish support for Trump and basically buy his bullshit.

It is extremely difficult to believe that tens of millions of people believe every word Trump utters. It sounds like one hell of an exaggeration, and not based on any factual knowledge.

Now, it is entirely possible and even likely that there are tens of millions who believe some of what Trump says.

Just like there are tens of millions who believe some of what Harris says.

Have you ever heard the phrase 'do not believe everything you hear'.   Do you think that phrase is meant to apply only to people who literally believe everything they hear?

Look up colloquial phrases.

Harris is not a pathological liar and her support is not cult-like.   Big difference.

Nope.  Did you somehow get the impression that I held that opinion although we have never even discussed that particular phrase?

Look up colloquial phrases.

Do you have any suggestions? What's your favorite ones?

Harris is not a pathological liar and her support is not cult-like.

I believe those things can be determined by individuals for themselves. But why are you arguing what I have never claimed?

Really? So everything she has stood for since she was first elected into an office and now has flip flopped on most everything is not pathological?

And the left, who have been giving Harris a 38 percent approval almost throughout her 4 years as VP has suddenly embraced her without the first vote and zero primaries as the P candidate is not cult like?

Get a grip.

They don’t understand that pathological can be subjective based in one’s biases and ideology. They just would never believe their own side can also be pathological liars as well, even when it is pointed out to them.

What the hell is this? How is this permissible from a former president candidate. Children will learn of this! Where are the adults in the room? Where is the OUTRAGE over the lack of decency from those PRETEND to be virtuous (until they are caught not being so)?

Finally, can Donald be sued for defamation? Because he damn well has no proof whatsoever that Kamala has ever given anybody a blow-job!

How is this allowed to be acceptable presidential campaigning material?

Crooked-Donald Trump has lost his F-KING mind and some women who stand up for this junior high school level bull fail too, in my opinion.

BTW, this fool is out of control. . .and he has not even been reelected yet; he does this lousy, crooked, stupid junior high level crap as a beggar. . . it tells you to expect MORE and Worse should he win.

That's bullpucky. Stop making excuses for this obsessive 'bum' who does and says whatever the hell he wants so a team of dumbass 'spokespeople' can have something to clean up after him. No more excuses. A presidential contender should not be objectifying women and it is disqualifying that he should be talking about blowjobs-period! Donald has already removed the "guardrails" from his words!

It is unforgivable if the media (which trolls liberals for even the positive things they do) sweeps this "retruthed" comment objectifying Kamala and Hillary under the rug! UNFORGIVEABLE.
