A long, thin line stretches across the dusty Arizona landscape. It is a border barrier - but not the customary wall or fence. This is made up entirely of shipping containers stacked on top of each other.

The improvised wall - topped with concertina wire - was ordered built by Republican Governor Doug Ducey in August in an attempt to fill gaps in the U.S.-Mexico border used by migrants.

Border communities had been overwhelmed, he argued, saying the double-stacked containers would reach 22 feet (6.7 m) high.

Initially ordered for Yuma County, Reuters observed a container wall being constructed in Cochise County.

Environmental protesters said the construction was harmful to local wildlife. On Tuesday, a small group sat next to one of the containers.

"We're not here to cause damage, get in anyone's way. What we're here to do is enjoy our public lands in a strategic way that hinders the placement of further shipping containers," said Eamon Harrity, wildlife project manager at Sky Island Alliance.

The Center for Biological Diversity has said the containers may obstruct a critical jaguar and ocelot migration corridor, while the U.S. Forest Service said at the end of November that the wall could create safety hazards and called it unlawful.

Ducey argues he has the right to defend the state of Arizona and protect its citizens. He has filed a lawsuit asking a judge to stop the federal government from interfering. Last month, the federal government filed a motion to dismiss that lawsuit.

This is the same wall the Biden Administration is demanding be taken down.

I guess it violates Biden's open border policies.

I've heard only one Democrat consistently speak out about Biden's open border, and that's Rep. Henry Cuellar (Texas). It was only right before the midterm election that Hobbs and Kelly finally got the courage to squeak out a couple of sentences opposing what they called "immigration". I'd have had more respect for them if they'd said ILLEGAL immigration.

Per left-wing FiveThirtyEight ...

As of September 2022, Cuellar had voted in line with  Joe Biden 's stated position 94.3% of the time. [49]

As a federal employee, how can Cuellar also vote in line with his governor's positions?

And those yards are well manicured, your homes are well built, your meals are well prepared and dishes are cleaned when dining out, your sheets are laundered when traveling, your holiday goods and food for your holiday meal are grown, harvested, loaded, transported, unloaded and stocked.

The common denominator is not just the illegal worker, it is the equally illegal employers that bring you these conveniences on the cheap and off the books. Follow the money first if you are truly concerned about who may be on your block,  but be ready to have many services you take for granted curtailed.

That denominator does not exist in my area. They are just passing through here in on their way to points North, East, and West. This is just a small rural area that has nothing for them. The nearest big city is two hours North of me where they can get jobs and disappear into the woodwork.

Notice I'm not complaining about them.  That said, was there some point you were trying to make here?

The common denominator is not just the illegal worker, it is the equally illegal employers that bring you these conveniences on the cheap and off the books.

You've said this before, and I don't think you actually have much experience on the subject.  You really don't seem to have any idea how far most businesses go to avoid hiring illegals and how easy it is for illegals to produce false documentation.  You also don't seem to account for the number of illegals running yard crews or maid services or handyman services or doing other work on the side where they're not employees so no documentation is required.

Follow the money first if you are truly concerned about who may be on your block,  but be ready to have many services you take for granted curtailed.

Why would you imagine I'm concerned?

I simply stated that I see illegal immigrants all the time.  I live in a border state, so that shouldn't surprise anybody.

Admitting the exceedingly obvious illegal immigration flow at the border is not synonymous with worry/concern/fear of illegal aliens.  It's just acknowledging that our government is intentionally being stupid about something else because (in this case liberal) feelings are at stake.

So here in Texas, you definitely have several friends who can recommend a person they have used before to do whatever you need done.   If that guy needs extra labor, he goes and gets it.

Sometimes the guy all your friends recommend isn't legal.  That doesn't mean he's not professional.

What we should be doing... if we weren't behaving like two sets of completely tribal fuckwitted morons...  is double our immigration quota.

Guatemalan shows up in Laredo, they check in, get a temporary work permit.

We then have a database where the thousands of US employers who can't find help can post their jobs and match up with people who actually want to show up and work.

But we won't do that.  We'll oscillate between complete fuckwitted denial that half a million people is actually a significant number and outrage that 50 immigrants have arrived in NY or Chicago on a bus and overwhelmed their public services.

The Center for Biological Diversity has said the containers may obstruct a critical jaguar and ocelot migration corridor,

Cry me a river. Biden and Mexico's president can make a deal to legally transport some jaguars and ocelots to the US and put an end to millions of illegal alien humans crossing the border and disappearing if this is so important.

while the U.S. Forest Service said at the end of November that the wall could create safety hazards and called it unlawful.

Then, illegal aliens should stop stupidly climbing tall barriers and harming themselves and their "children". These walls are designed to LEGALLY keep illegal aliens out of a sovereign nation. Ask permission to LEGALLY enter, and we will welcome you - just like tens of millions of refugees and immigrants did and still do.

He is trying to be cute and play the race card at the same time by using a Game of Thrones analogy.

The containers are the Night's Watch's wall of ice which is not efficient; poorly manned; and is easily brought down by a dragon corrupted by the White Walkers. Can't use anything nice so spins it to the White Watch; because every woke leftist knows the only reason that anyone would want to secure the border and end illegal immigration is to stop brown people from entering the country. Ignoring that Europeans, Asians, etc that enter this country legally and overstay their VISAs are also part of the problem and need to be removed. So instead of White Walkers like in the books; he uses Brown Walkers.

He missed the mark; but at least he tried.

Here is just one of many videos showing the trash and filth illegals leave on our side of the border. Dirty diapers, plastic water bottles, back packs, clothing, ammo, human feces. All show how illegal aliens have been destroying our nation's environment and wildlife.

This video dates back to 2009, and there are many more ...

The Biden administration wants more than $3 billion to prep for a possible migrant surge at the border after Covid ban ends

Gee - the prior administration, SIX YEARS AGO, asked for $2B to SECURE the border and this bunch of azzwipes wants $3B to further open the border.

What friggin' idiots.

The number of attempted crossings is projected to increase by as much as 2,500 a day when the Covid ban ends, DHS officials said, and it  could reach 10,000 .

And when the ban ends, instead of being sent back across the border, more migrants will have the chance to stay in the U.S. and claim asylum. The extra money is needed to process, shelter and transport them.

Without more space in border processing centers, the facilities could get overcrowded, just as they did in 2019, when migrants said they were being held in spaces  too small to lie down to sleep

The Biden administration has long planned for the lifting of Title 42 by  streamlining the asylum process , allowing Border Patrol officers to conduct interviews and quickly deporting migrants. But it has warned that improving the process could take time and funding, claiming “it won’t be achieved overnight.”

DHS did not respond to a request for comment.

Point made - this administration doesn't give a futch about U.S. Citizens and their safety and wellbeing.

Why in the hell have we allowed them to stay if office????

Therefore, more foreigners coming here makes things worse and more costly for US Citizens

High winds regularly play havoc with heavily loaded 53ft common carrier trailers flipping them on their sides on the highways like toys.

What could possibly go wrong double stacking empty shipping containers in windy flat terrain for 3,000 feet?

08/18/2022

Two shipping containers placed along the US-Mexico frontier fell onto their side sometime Sunday evening. Gov. Doug Ducey’s office was made aware of the incident by Border Patrol around midnight and the containers were put back into place at around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Initially, reports indicated that the containers, which measure 60 feet high and 22 feet long, fell over due to high winds.

Makeshift Arizona border wall falls over, Doug Ducey suspects foul play (nypost.com)

(Note the dimensions are way off. A typical container is 40ft long, 9.5 ft high and 8 ft wide.)

These shipping containers can be secured to each other via AD54000A-1GA Shipping Container Locks ().  These locks are used by intermodal shipping companies to connect various sizes of containers together for rail and truck shipment.  These locks primarily used to secure a container to the truck / rail car it's being transported on.

These containers falling over doesn't happen as much as you think.

More than likely, because they won't be moved, they are welded together to ensure they will not fall over.
