The biased bigots that own and operate big tech social media are a monopoly engaged in racketeering and RICO collusion against conservative social media.  They are criminals operating criminal enterprises that hopefully the new internet will drive to complete and total financial bankruptcy to match their moral bankruptcy.

The small but growing social media site Parler has witnessed a mafia-like ambush after Apple, Amazon, and Google teamed up to take it down, and now the public is debating if “hate speech” led to its punishment or the public witnessed a coordinated hit against a conservative hangout.

Big Tech giant Twitter, meanwhile, has permanently banned President Trump, leaving his 88 million-plus followers looking for another way to stay in touch with the President and his famous — and often controversial —posts. Those posts ironically drove lots of traffic to the social media giant which  watched $5 billion in market value disappear overnight  after it gave the outgoing commander in chief the heave-ho.

Responding to the actions of Big Tech, Parler CEO John Matze says the social media site was thoroughly and effectively canceled in a coordinated effort.

“It’s not just these three companies,” he told Fox News, the news network that is familiar with being loathed by the Left that wants it gone. “Every vendor, from text message services to email providers to our lawyers, all ditched us, too, on the same day.”

Amazon claimed Parler and its invitation to “speak freely and express yourself openly” created an online environment of threats and violent content that violated Amazon’s terms of service when those posts were not removed and punished. Google made the same claim, and the Big Tech titans are linking Parler’s online environment with last week’s mob attack on the U.S. Capitol building.

It might also be a coincidence that conservatives have been flocking to Parler after Election Day, especially after they are punished by Twitter’s censors, and both the Right and the Left recognize Parler has become the new social media favorite for conservatives.

Prager U: We warned you

One group that is no stranger to left-wing Big Tech and its anti-conservative punishment is  Prager University , the conservative-leaning website. Founded by columnist Dennis Prager, the website competes against left-wing professors to educate young generations about politics, culture, and religion.

The biggest draw of Prager U is its  five-minute mini-presentations,  also aimed at young adults, that feature names such as Ben Shapiro, Dave Rubin, and Ayaan Hirsi Ali with topics such as feminism’s effect on the culture, socialism’s violent history, and the future of Islam.

Craig Strazzeri, chief marketing officer for Prager University, told the “Washington Watch” program that Prager U has fought Big Tech since 2016, when its videos were restricted and censored over their displeasing content.

Almost a year ago, Prager U  lost its federal lawsuit  against Google and You Tube in a 3-0 appeals court decision. Responding to Prager U’s complaint that YouTube promotes itself as a free speech platform where “everyone deserves a voice,” one judge said that is not false advertising but merely the company’s opinion about itself.

According to Strazzeri, conservatives did not take the free speech issue seriously as Prager U waged war against the powerful Big Tech titans.

“And here we are in 2021,” he concluded. “And we’ve reached kind of this peak of now people are starting to realize where this is all going. And it’s gone from troubling to downright scary, and people’s speech is no longer free as it’s always been in America.”

Dan Gainor of  MRC Tech Watch  tells One News Now the Saturday Night Massacre of Parler reminds him of the “Cultural Revolution” in China.

“They ran around and destroyed statues – sound familiar? – changed names of things, erased history,” he recalls, “because they didn’t like the history.”

Before it was over, he adds, the “pesky people” who got in the way were also erased from the “Cultural Revolution” that was taking place.

Parler fighting back

Claiming an antitrust violation and breach of contract, Parler is now suing Amazon for suspending its app.

Reacting to the Parler’s punishment and now the lawsuit, U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-California) told Fox Business the coordinated hit on Parler deserves to be investigated for anti-trust violations and possibly a RICO statute.

“There should be a racketeering investigation on all the people that coordinated this attack,” he said, “on not only a company, but on all of those like us.”

Nunes said he has three million followers on Parler and there is no longer a way to communicate with them.

The freedom to be bigoted, misogynistic, racist assholes and not get called out for it. The freedom to push White Evangelical Jesus on everyone and not get called out for it. The freedom to have exclusive white male only clubs and not get called out for it. The freedom where boys can be boys, girls are sluts and had it coming. The freedom to beat up gays and if they accidently died being pulled behind a pick-up - oops. The freedom to keep poor blacks on their side of the tracks. The freedom to send their young daughters to "live with relatives" for a couple of months without being questioned. The freedom to lockup the mentally challenged and criminalize poverty.

I'm sure I'm missing a few there.

Facebook deactivates almost 200 accounts linked to hate groups (June 7, 2020 )

The accounts were connected with white supremacist organizations already banned on the platform

Facebook has removed almost 200 accounts connected to white supremacist groups that were trying to rally supporters to attend protests over police violence against black people, the Associated Press reported . The accounts in question were linked to two hate groups Facebook had already banned , the Proud Boys and the American Guard.

Demonstrations continued over the weekend across the US, spurred by the May 25th death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Authorities have charged fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin with second-degree murder in Floyd’s death, after a video showed Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck as other officers looked on. The other officers, who were also fired, have been charged with aiding and abetting murder.

Facebook had been monitoring the accounts and started to see posts encouraging people to attend protests in person. Some were preparing to go with weapons, a company official told the AP . The company didn’t provide details about where the account users were located, or what specifically they may have planned to do at the protests.

Last week Facebook said it would limit the spread of groups and pages on its platform connected to the term “boogaloo,” which some far-right groups use to refer to a supposedly forthcoming second American Civil War. It will demote the pages and groups in search results and won’t recommend them to users, Facebook said.

Sedition and soliciting to participate in it are crimes.  That's why they are getting cancelled.

As Predicted: Parler Is Banning Users It Doesn't Like

from the that-did-not-take-long-at-all dept

Mon, Jun 29th 2020 12:08pm Mike Masnick

Well, that did not take long at all. On Friday we predicted that just like every other social media platform out there, the new favorite among people who falsely say that Twitter is censoring conservatives, would start taking down content and shutting down accounts just like everyone else. Because, if you run any sort of platform that allows 3rd party speech, sooner or later you discover you have to do that. In Friday's post, we highlighted Parler's terms of service, which certainly allows for it to take down any content for any reason (we also mocked their "quick read on Wikipedia" style understanding of the 1st Amendment).

What we did not expect was that Parler would prove us right so damn quickly. Over the weekend, Parler was apparently busy taking down accounts .

Speaking which, this is a great first step from red states...

Censored by Twitter or Facebook? This state's bill would let you sue

'I drafted it in December and things have only gotten worse,' the lawmaker told 'Fox & Friends'

Caleb Parke5 hours ago
After being shocked by Big Techcensoring President Trump and other conservatives in recent months, Republican state lawmakers introduced a bill that would put social media giants like Twitter and Facebook in legal trouble for restricting political posts in North Dakota.

"I drafted it in December and things have only gotten worse," State Rep. Tom Kading, R-N.D., the lead sponsor of the bill, told "Fox & Friends" Saturday.

VAN DUYNE URGES GOP HOUSE MEMBERS TO 'REFUSE ANY AND ALL' BIG TECH MONEY OVER 'CENSORSHIP'

"I'm frankly shocked at what's happening to our country and censoring does not create unity, it does not help the situation of division in our country, and it does not de-escalate the situation," Kading said. "All it really does is make those who have been silenced dig in deeper and be more suspicious of what's going on."

The bill states that social media sites would be liable in a civil lawsuit for damages to a North Dakota resident "whose speech is restricted, censored, or suppressed," as long as it is not "obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable."
"If a website comes out and selectively publishes information," Kading explained, citing case law from state supreme courts, "or manipulates true information in order to create a certain desired narrative, this restrictive action can essentially amount to defamation."

WANT TO GET AWAY FROM BIG TECH? HERE’S HOW

Republicans have questioned whether social media giants should still be afforded liability protections under Section 230 -- a rule dating to 1996 that shields social media companies from being held liable for third-party posts on their platforms while allowing them to moderate that content.

The North Dakota state representative believes his bill is in compliance with Section 230, adding: "If Big Tech doesn't follow their terms of service and they are banning one particular political party ... and they censor outside the scope of Section 230, then there's this civil liability."....

Why Parler's Lawsuit Is Bound to Fail

Companies like Amazon have First Amendment rights, too.

...

The social media platform Parler was launched by right-wingers angry at Twitter and Facebook for policing speech on their sites. After the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, Amazon Web Services (AWS) notified Parler that it was removing the site from its cloud hosting service. Parler is suing.

Amazon claims, very plausibly, that Parler was being used by jackasses to foment violence and hatred. Here are a few examples from Amazon’s court filing: “We are going to fight in a civil War on Jan. 20th, Form MILITIAS now and acquire targets.” ... “Shoot the police that protect these s**tbag senators right in the head then make the senator grovel a bit before capping they a**.” ... “White people need to ignite their racial identity and rain down suffering and death like a hurricane upon zionists.”

According to Amazon’s contract, AWS clients can’t host speech that “violate[s] the rights of others, or that may be harmful to others.” Parler claims it tried to restrict such speech. That remains disputed. But whether or not it tried, Amazon says Parler was simply unable to do it, particularly as evidenced by the massive backlog of flagged posts in the wake of the Jan. 6 siege.

I don’t care if the posts fall short of the Brandenburg standard, because Amazon isn’t the government. Under the First Amendment, Amazon is free to say, “We want no part of this.” If a diner can say, “No shirt, no shoes, no service,” Amazon can say, “No calls for civil war or genocide.”

Too funny, remember, corporations are people too?

“The content at issue ... encourages rape, murder and torture,” Doran said. The lawyer filed examples of inflammatory, disturbing Parler posts in court, which she called “the tip of the iceberg.”

The posts showed Parler users discussing mass murder of liberals, extreme homophobia and transphobia, racism, and attacks on Amazon itself.

“On January 20 we need to start systematically assassinating #liberal leaders, liberal activists, #blm leaders and supporters, members of the #nba #nfl #mlb #nhl #mainstreammedia anchors and correspondents and #antifa. I already have news worthy events planned,” read one bloodthirsty post.

“I really don’t look forward to having to kill someone, but it is necessary for the future of our people,” read another in response to a discussion about the start of a civil war.

Another user posted, “The only good democrat is a dead one.”

The online invective was eerily reminiscent of the assaults on Capitol police officers by pro-Trump supporters during last week’s siege.

“Cops are modern day redcoats. These ‘officers’ will strip you of your rights so be prepared to fight if necessary,” a post read.

Amazon pulled the plug on Parler four days after the riot, saying the company was unable to moderate its inflammatory content.

“The events of January 6 changed the way we think about the world,” Doran said.

Parler says Amazon’s move has destroyed its business and is politically motivated. At the time of the suspension, the network had 15 million users and was adding 1 million new users a day. Trump himself was reportedly considering opening an account.

“The site is supported by advertisers. They’re gone. They have no revenue coming in,” Parler attorney David Groesbeck said, adding Amazon shouldn’t be allowed to “take 15 million voices and turn them off.”

Judge Barbara Rothstein will rule on Parler’s demand that Amazon restore services.

Amazon says the suit is "Meritless", experts agree.

Parler's Antitrust Lawsuit Over Amazon Deplatforming Has Tough Road Ahead

...

Does Parler's claim have any merit? Cindy Cohn, executive director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and an attorney who specializes in internet law, tells Reason that for Parler's antitrust claim to hold up, it must be established that Amazon and Twitter have a shared purpose in driving Parler out of business.

"I think it is a high bar," Cohn says. "I don't see that the facts support it."

"The claims are really weak, legally and factually," she says. Even if it were to be proven that Parler was explicitly targeted for political reasons and that Amazon's policies were not implemented fairly, Parler would still fail to furnish the evidence required to prove an antitrust violation.

"A business gets to decide who it does business with," Cohn says. "Nothing in this complaint demonstrates collusion between Twitter and Amazon."

In an interview with the Washington Examiner , University of Pennsylvania law professor and antitrust expert Herbert Hovenkamp said that Parler's claims of political discrimination may actually work against them. "If its intent is to exclude views because they threaten violence or lead to distrust of government but not merely to eliminate a competitor, then the exclusion is probably not covered by antitrust law.

Gab is on it's own servers outside the US. Perhaps Epik holds the DNS for them? Parlor did register with Epik, but I don't think they will host them either. Most likely it will just provide DNS.

“The Pirate Bay, the most censored website in the world, started by kids, run by people with problems with alcohol, drugs and money, still is up after almost two decades,” Kolmisoppi said. “Parlor and gab etc have all the money around but no skills or mindset. Embarrassing.”

“The most ironic thing is that The Pirate Bay’s enemies include not just the US government but also many European and the Russian one,” he said. “Compared to gab/parlor which is supported by the current president of the US and probably liked by the Russian one too.”

“In all honesty, the reason we did The Pirate Bay was to bring freedom and take back control from a centralised system,” Kolmisoppi said. “The reason that Gab et al will fail is because they're just whining bitches that have only one ideology: egotism. Sharing is caring y'all.”

In more recent years, Kolmoisoppi has moved on to fund   Njalla , a privacy-centric domain name registration service. One he says was   already asked to host Parler , and refused.

“Of course we wouldn't,” Kolmisoppi said. “We're pro human rights, which includes the right to not be killed by extreme right wing terrorists.”

According to the Gab wiki:

As of January 2021 , Gab was still using Epik as a domain registrar. Instead of hosting its service in the cloud, the  Wall Street Journal  reported that Gab had been renting hardware in an undisclosed data center. Gab was also using services from  Cloudflare . [154]

Gab has been very anti-Semetic throughout it's brief history. The posters and the company itself are filled with angry white nationalists. For those conservatives who are pissed at Parler's takedown and going to Gab - good luck. Their presence there and use of the app/site is nothing short of an endorsement of willful ignorance, hate, & violence.

I doubt you speak for moderate, mainstream conservatives.   From my experiences, the moderate, mainstream conservatives are trying to detox from Trump and figure out how to reestablish a relevant voice.   And that is just the political side.   Most of these people, from what I can observe, are shaking their heads in disgust at Trump and are focusing almost entirely on their daily lives (i.e. they are trying to not think of Trump and politics).

Your comments seem to put you on the fringe rather than moderate, mainstream conservative.   I am pretty sure most here laugh at the notion of your comments being those of the typical moderate, mainstream conservative.

Case in point, I submit that the moderate, mainstream conservative is not running about yelling 'stop the steal' ... 'Trump 2024!'.   Rather, I think they are most likely wanting to tell those engaging in such stupid behavior to STFU and stop contributing to a highly negative stereotype for the average R.

While it is possible to get away from Big Tech companies, or at least minimize your dependence on them, it’s going to be a struggle.

From social media to online shopping, the largest technology companies are firmly ingrained into the fabric of the Internet. There certainly are alternatives, but what you gain in privacy, you’ll probably lose in functionality.

I kind of wish big tech would slow down a bit. New phones get more expensive every day which history and economics say is curious. They should be getting cheaper!

My first cell phone was hard-wired into an 87 RX7. A dedicated car phone.

My second cell phone came with its own backpack (bag phone).

My third cell phone looked like a gray brick. No pocket could hold it.

Since then cell phones went smaller. Owned all of the small/thin flip phones.

My first big screen smart phone was an HP.  Dropped it and it shattered.

Have been dealing with Samsung phones for several years now.

I'm an old fart who really doesn't ask much from a phone other than reliability.

Even with a Samsung, reliability with this 8yr old phone has become an issue.

Time to upgrade.

Anybody out there with advice?

New phones & such tend to include updated hardware/software, more power, more bell & whistles, memory, ect.. So naturally they start out expensive, but get progressively cheaper as newer tech comes out. But big tech does push the envelope of progress and technology. 20 years ago, cell phones had pull out antennas, monochromatic screens, and only made phone calls. They were basically smaller, portable house phones. Today, phones are essentially mini laptop computers that can do just about anything. Technology and progress is a wonderful thing.

Sure. IT advice is a lot of what I do. Smart phones technically have a use life of 2 years by design. That's not to say phones should wear out in two years, it's more about that "wish they would slow down" thing you mentioned. The software in iPhones (my smartphone) lasts about 4 years before hardware in new phones makes it too expensive for Apple to support it. My personal opinion, along with most IT people I've talked to say a replacement is warranted between 4.5 and 5 years unless you are having trouble with something in particular.

When shopping for a new phone you don't have to have the newest one. One way to cut down on costs is to purchase factory refurbished phone from the previous model. They phones should come with a limited warranty by the manufacturer, in case something gets by quality control.
