NYPD: Group attacks woman in Madison Square Park, rubs soiled diaper on her face

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a group of individuals who they say attacked a woman at Madison Square Park on Sunday.

According to the NYPD, the 33-year-old woman was in the park at around noon on Jan. 10, at the same time when an anti-Trump and Black Lives Matter protest was passing through the park, according to an AMNY report.

According to the woman's social media accounts, she is a self-described "social media reporter" who frequently goes out into New York City to cover events.

The woman, who has expressed support for President Donald Trump online, was reportedly recording segments for her social media accounts when police say the group surrounded her.

The NYPD say the group shoved her, hit her in the head with an egg and used an umbrella to knock her phone to the ground.

The 33-year-old ran from the attackers and the group continued to chase and harass her, police said.

The NYPD notes at least one member sprayed at her with aerosol silly string as another hit her with a skateboard.

One member in the group then rubbed a soiled baby diaper on her face, police said.

The disturbing attack was caught on video by the woman, who shared it with police and posted it to her social media accounts.

The attackers fled the scene after the incident.

The NYPD did not confirm whether the suspects were protesters or provide any further details about what prompted the incident.

I call bullshit!

A police officer was brutally bludgeoned to death a t the Capitol!!!

Officer Sicknick, 42, was   pepper-sprayed and fatally bludgeoned to death

And people are saying that this was no different than cold-blooded murder???

SMH...

Knock yourself out. you're entitled to your opinion. Of course, you're using a specific incident in order to attempt to deny my point. I could bring up the shooter at the Republican baseball game to counter but, really, what would be the point? See who has the biggest dick? Like it doesn't count unless somebody dies? Are you saying the only thing that counts concerning what happened at the Capital is the officer's death? The rest of the violence was just youthful hijinks?

And people are saying that this was no different than cold-blooded murder???

Seriously, Krishna, what's your threshold for what counts? Death? You're simply basing your opinion on outcome alone, without any other consideration. She didn't die so it doesn't count as the same thing.

Are you seriously suggesting that what happened to the woman isn't comparable to what happened to the officer simply because they didn't take it as far? Didn't take her life? That their hate doesn't count because there was no death? No matter where on the scale of hate you happen to be looking at, it's still hate. The same thing that let those people to murder that police officer is the same thing that led these people to assault this woman.

i never thought you'd ask!

1. So, first of all, there's this:

(Interesting how you and your MAGA cohorts are avoiding commenting there is hopes that my seed will just disappear. But it won't, because people who realize the truth re: Trump and his evil minions will comment ...so that seed won't go away so soon!

2. And secondly--there's this (again, you and your cohorts avoiding that seed in hopes it will just "disappear" also will not work!):

Yeah, except I didn't ask for proof. I asked you what was your threshold for what counts. Something you still haven't shared with us. Why is what happened to the woman at Madison Square Park not the same sort of thing that happened to the Cop?

And nobody is commenting on your postings most likely because they have no idea what you're trying to do or what your point is. For instance.

This page has the video of the incident.

The woman is not knocked to the ground, not violently attacked, not physically harmed. I won't describe this behavior as meaningless, but it is absolutely not on the level of a serious assault. It is more like bullying or taunting.

I am willing to bet that if someone you didn't know walked up to you and did any of the things this woman had done to her, you would be screaming bloody murder.

I am sure you would consider someone wiping a dirty diaper on your face as "nothing much" happening.

Never said they were equal concerning outcome. I said the same sort of hate that led a person to beat that cop to death is the same thing that led those people to do what they did to the woman.

Would you say that the guy who beat the cop with the flag stick wasn't as bad, or doing something as bad, as the guy who killed the cop with the extinguisher?

WHY would it be difficult to assess people as violent when they attack a woman for no good reason?

So if someone eggs you and rubs a dirty diaper in your face for no good reason, you aren't willing to call that violent.

Right.

And maybe that's part of the problem. But worse than this is that these people felt they were acting morally. They had a right to do what they were doing to her because of their perception of her. That whatever it was they found objectionable about her gave them license to do what they did. You know, like that guy who killed the cop felt justified in doing it.

Yes. Just like many who violently attacked the Capital. We need to stop this crap where we attack the other side with examples of their bad behavior. Our side has bad behavior as well. It accomplishes nothing. Devangelical's attitude toward this isn't worth responding to. He shows himself indifferent to rational discussion of the subject. We can't reach such people.

Paula is an example of who we can converse with. She has her opinions but she's able to admit wrong actions without feeling threatened by doing so, as 2.1 shows.

We need to get beyond the usual tit for tat that happens here. We need to get into actual discussions where we talk about views without fear of being attacked for them.

This might seem a bit strange but I was watching a YouTube montage of the Punisher series earlier today. I haven't watched any of the episodes myself because I despise the premise. The relevance of this is that, to an extent, the Punisher seems to exemplify the way American's are treating social issues these days. Rather than acting in a personally responsible manner as it relates to civilized behavior and the rule of law, people more and more feel they are justified in their actions simply because of how they feel about an issue. That is, responding to an issue based purely on their emotional response to a thing is perfectly acceptable.

Krishna, maybe go back and read the comments before mine. I am opposed to people celebrating attacks like this. I was pointing out that many silly little things get deleted on this site, but when someone celebrates something like this, it is allowed to stay. I don't think that's a good thing and I think it shows a wrong kind of priority, but other than shine a light on it, there's nothing I can do.

Sounds like a Karen encounter.

I dont wish anyone ill will, but my guess is there is another side to this story. She was at the location to film something to put on her social media. Most likely not minding her own business.

If she was attacked as she says and the cops have the proof charge the BLM with the relevant crimes just like you would charge anyone else. Same justice for all.

Even if true, shoving her, hitting her in the head with an egg and using an umbrella to knock her phone to the ground probably isn't an appropriate response.

However, since she appears to have been documenting a protest passing through a public park, I'd say she was focused on a matter of public interest, So the suggestion that she was not minding her own business is probably not valid.
