"Unity" breaks out in Portland and Seattle
Authorities said earlier gatherings in Portland -- which saw Antifa protesters clash with authorities as they gathered to voice dissatisfaction with President Biden, forcing officers to retreat and taking at least one police bicycle -- had ended.

We the People

It's probably going to be an underreported story, thus I thought I would share it here on NT. It seems that while the FBI was off searching for rightwing trouble makers and 26,000 troops were assembled in the nation's capitol, the radical left made a return appearance. Yup, right under their noses!

In Portland last night, rioters dressed in black, congregated around the ICE building. Soon the mob began
throwing rocks and eggs, and began vandalizing the building. Portland police declared it an unlawful assembly. Eventually the antifa marchers attacked the city’s Democratic Party office. Then the police issued this statement:

"We have observed property damage to the building," the Portland Police Bureau wrote on Twitter.  "Anyone who is involved in criminal behavior including: vandalism and graffitting is subject to arrest or citation."

No kidding?

EsNs8HNU0AIfoBI?format=jpg&name=small

Seattle experienced much the same mayhem, there reporters said demonstrators were protesting against President Biden and law enforcement, and carried a sign reading, "Abolish ICE."

"In Denver, protesters burned an American flag in separate demonstrations that reportedly involved members of the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as others who chanted anti-Trump and anti-Biden slogans."

meanwhile:

"Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin recently declared on a television program (with various media figures who made no objection) that “We have to collectively, in essence, burn down the Republican Party. We have to level them because if there are survivors, if there are people who weather this storm, they will do it again.”   Notably, such language is similar to a call recently by James Comey and is not viewed as incitement . Rubin also called for a blacklisting of Trump supporters from universities and the media, a call that has been  made by Democratic figures in Congress as well as academics : “I think it’s absolutely abhorrent that any institution of higher learning, any news organization, or any entertainment organization that has a news outlet would hire these people.”

https://jonathanturley.org/2021/01/21/professor-calls-for-the-elimination-of-the-republican-party-and-purging-nazified-people-from-congress-to-universities-to-regular-jobs/

Enter the man who will return us to normalcy and "unify."

EsQEV4pW4AM2CSK?format=png&name=small

“To overcome these challenges, to restore the soul and secure the future of America, requires so much more than words. It requires the most elusive of all things in a democracy: unity,” Biden, a Democrat, said after taking the oath of office.

“We must end this uncivil war that pits red against blue, rural versus urban, conservative versus liberal. We can do this - if we open our souls instead of hardening our hearts.” ...Joe Biden

Biden wants unity? If true, he must make the first move:

He must tell his fellow democrats to stand down on idiotic impeachment.
He must tell his supporters to stop doxxing, blacklisting & threatening Trump staff.
He must condemn the censorship of conservatives

A quote from the article you reference....

"Media and FBI reports have detailed carefully planned insurrection attempts scheduled throughout the country in the coming weeks at every state capital," federal prosecutors said in their briefing, warning of further violence.

Why is what the media says considered as evidence or reasoning for any legal proceeding? How does that work? "Mr. Smith. The NYT has a story that you murdered the entire state of Ohio. I sentence you to life without parole."

If by "they" you mean the media, yes. All they have to do is stop with the bias. Anyone who bothers to look can recognize it. Unfortunately, our public schools churn out minds designed to accept whatever the media puts out rather than be able to actually think about it.

That's been going on for a long time and when we look at who and what has been elected, we now see the results.

I can't seem to find it, but I recall somebody during the turbulent 60's proclaiming "We got your kids!"

I don't think it was Jane Fonda.

Don't trust what?  Are you saying that what happened in Portland didn't really happen?  Or is it just another one of those "mostly peaceful protests"?  Honestly, if we can't agree on what we can all plainly see from multiple sources and call it what it is, then trust is not the problem, willful ignorance is the problem.  Perhaps we should be questioning, or not trusting, those news/journalism sources who won't cover such events for one reason or another.

This is funny. You post an article where the MSM is keeping the public informed on the latest information while at the same time claiming that the media is in the pocket of the progressive liberal left. They published this story to correct the record and to present factual data in a timely manner.

Why do you suppose that false claim was made?

Probably because a lot of bat-shit crazy people were storming the Capitol, some of them chanting, "Hang Mike Pence," and and other atrocious things so they thought that their might have been. Why else? You will note the retraction request was made by federal prosecutors. I really can't see the point of asking the question other than to stoke conspiracy theories. Of course, I am sure that you can explain.

Are you claiming that the recent antifa riots were reported in the same fashion as the January 6th riot?  I'll bet that I could find many people who wouldn't even know that just days ago there were riots in Portland, Seattle and Denver.

Probably because

Probably because the leftist ideologues now in power want us to think that January 6th is synonymous with 9/11. Saying that officials knew their intent was to kill government officials was an outrageous lie to rum up support for the crackdown on Civil Liberties that immediately followed.

The takeaway from public schools should be that you get out of it (school) what the expectations are that you will get out of it and  what the expectations are that you will put into it. Probably not the best way to word that but I am not going to fix it. People with high expectations placed upon them will perform at a higher level than people with low or no expectations placed upon them.

The deterioration of the classic family unit without the replacement by some other type of structure has contributed, therefore, to the lowering of expectations on the students and the subsequent lowering of performance. At least this is my hypothesis. Societal changes such as increased divorce rates affect across the board. Disproportionately applied stressors such as arrests skew the numbers even further. I think that you will see this displayed if you look at the relative proportions of different segments of the population vs family incarceration rates and grades different grade levels through school.

The long and short of this is that children now vs children of 50 years ago have lower expectations as a whole and therefore perform at some proportionately lower level. Sounds like a good hypothesis to investigate.

At every damned turn. Why didn't they say "let's give this a chance and work together"? Because someone dared to come from outside into their sand box and didn't like their toys.

As a side note, my personal feelings about Mr. Biden is he is a cross between Mr. Obama and Mr. Jimmy Carter. Why is unity such a dirty word to Trumpers and the rest of the lunitic groups he managed to coax out from under their rocks?

Without knowing who you define as a Trumpster I can only give you my opinion. It isn't that unity is a dirty word. It's that it is a meaningless one in the mouth of a politician. When a politician calls for unity they don't actually mean people coming together to solve a problem. What they actually mean is that they're going to do whatever it is they have planned and if the other side doesn't come along they'll be seen as spoilers and obstructionists for refusing unity.

In other words, they don't actually call for unity, they are prepositioning themselves politically, making it seem as if they want to work together with the other side when they don't actually care. That way, when the other side resists, they seem like the ones who are in the wrong for resisting "unity".

Biden made a speech at the inauguration about unity. About being a president for all Americans. About wanting to work with Republicans to solve the nations problems. Then he immediately proved his real intentions in going forward when he signed those executive orders. His actions did not match his words but, instead, revealed his intent going forward. Specifically, he has a plan and he's going to do everything in his power to implement it regardless of what the opposition thinks, which in some cases, may even be his own party.

Also, if you think about what unity would really mean, would you yourself be prepared for that? Because unity means either one of two things. Either it means the left and the right work to find some compromise position on the issues that divide us or it means, at this moment, all the Republicans switching to Democrat. How much compromise would you make on an issue like abortion? Trans people using the bathroom of their choice? Critical race theory? BLM? Medicare for all?

Unity sounds fine but I don't think Biden actually means it, and certainly Dems like Pelosi do not. What Biden means by unity is that "hey, if we can just come together we can make my vision of America happen." Unity doesn't mean finding compromise with the other side.

Why is unity such a dirty word

It isn't, unless it means actually coming together in the middle. Both sides portray themselves as the victims. Both sides portray their cause as the "Only righteous one." Both sides insist that moving towards the center of popular thought will start us down the slippery slope to gloom and doom and destruction defined as the "other side." They have both dug their trenches and will not leave them. It is like WWI all over again.

During the Obama Administration we could see this from the night of the 2008 election. Further evidence accrued during the government shutdowns, the absolute refusal of the one party to work with the other to solve problems rather than impose "solutions." The Trump Administration came in and ran roughshod over the systems that the country had built to protect the environment and all of the citizenry, largely by fiat. Now, in reaction to the past four years of destruction, the far left has joined the far right in caterwauling for their chance to be heard. Both should be at least listened to to the extent of getting their ideas out into the open. Then we can discuss them as adults, see which ideas are fair and just and which are unfair. But the clamor from the extremes needs to stop because it is a divisor, not at all a unifier. It's volume quite outways its popularity and the only reason that it has gravity is the undue influence of the primary system controlled by the two parties. That is the true reason we are divided and not united.

The only thing I found interesting about this dull article was this

Biden wants unity? If true, he must make the first move:

He must tell his fellow democrats to stand down on idiotic impeachment.
He must tell his supporters to stop doxxing, blacklisting & threatening Trump staff.
He must condemn the censorship of conservatives

The article is superficially about "antifa"  damaging some property in Seattle and Portland, but in reality the real purpose of the article is to complain that everyone is being unfair and mean to Trump and Trumpism.

There is nothing "idiotic" about impeaching Donald Trump. It is quite necessary. Likewise, his staff should be investigated when there is information that they may have broke laws by protecting their bosses misdeeds. If there is no information , they have nothing to worry about.

Third, conservatives are only being censored if they are inciting riots or inciting violence. If they want to act like normal human beings and not those who think Democrats murder and eat babies then they can have "free" speech again.

The media BS, aided by a deeply politicized FBI, was that far right goons would riot all over the country. None of that happened, instead the radical left again became violent, which has become the accepted norm.

There will be another WH Press Conference at 4PM.

The medical genius Dr Fauci will be there. Perhaps to tell us why the China bought & paid for World Health Organization is a good thing. The same organization that lied to us. Or maybe he will explain why we are failing at getting the vaccines out.

The good news is that WH correspondent Peter Doocy will also be there

Biden shuts down the Keystone pipeline.

This will kill jobs on both sides of the border, weaken the critically important Canada-U.S. relationship, and undermine U.S. national security by making the United States more dependent on OPEC oil imports in the future.

For years we’ve worked at realizing the dream of energy independence for America so that we wouldn’t be relying on foreign actors and we achieved that over the last couple of years through technology and now we’re going to roll that back, and we’re going to trade this out for higher-cost energy.

The price of gasoline in my city has already increased by .27 per gallon since Tuesday. Be prepared for gasoline cost to rise to $ 4 a gallon and above by the end of the year.

Don't worry, the tar sand oil will still move from Canada- it will be in outdated, leaking, constant threat to derail, rail oil tanker cars like it is now. The two biggest benefactors to this will be Buffet, and Soros- that own large share in the rail lines these move on. Biden is already starting the paybacks.

The rail is so much safer than an oil pipeline./S

But Democrats care so much about the environment!/S jrSmiley_88_smiley_image.gif

Yep, time to bring back the double lined rail cars and redouble oil, gas, and coal developments on state and private lands just like we did when Obama was President.

You should do some research on XLP. Lawsuits have shut it down for the last 4 years and after Trump's EO more lawsuits were filed. The 11,000 jobs look good when trying to sell XLP but not in reality. According to the state department, the number of jobs will all be temporary lasting from 4 to 6 months and the way they figure labor it's 3,900 temp jobs. The full-time jobs, if it is built, is 35 all in Canada plus 15 temporary contractors.

More importantly, is that there is no need for it.

Currently, Canada exports about 3.8 million bpd to the United States, according to U.S. Energy Department data. Analysts expect that to rise to between 4.2 million and 4.4 million bpd over the next few years. Pipeline expansions currently in progress will add more than 950,000 bpd of export capacity for Canadian producers before 2025, according to Rystad Energy.

XLP has a top-end capacity of 830,000 bpd. You can see that the current pipelines and the current expansion of those lines is far more capacity than XLP would provide.

If you don't believe that pipelines have spills, again do some research there have been quite a few and some have been very large.

If you don't believe that rail is the worst way to ship this oil tar sand; then you didn't read the links I provided. Don't expect Buffet, Soros, or Democrats to care about derailments; delays in moving other goods on the rail; or the environmental impact of the derailments. They are all in bed together and are reaping the rewards for it moving rail.

I did read the links and that isn't the point. There is NO NEED for XPL. The current pipelines can handle more than the addition of the XLP would add. That is the point.

Obviously, you didn't read my links and your hate for anything democratic blinds you to use your common sense.

So all those good paying union jobs should just be flushed down the drain in an economy affected     by the pandemic?  We will get that oil to market by trains and by barge despite Biden’s efforts to the contrary just like we did when Obama was President and we will simply have to wait for the next Republican President to complete this pipeline and undo all the rest of the stuff biDen just did.

Try reading what I wrote and the links that I provided and not the BS you're trying to peddle.

There is no need for XPL there is more than enough capacity to handle everything coming from Canada without XPL.

Others disagree and I’ll take their word over yours or your sources.  What about the 12,000 American Union jobs lost paying workers some 90k a year and a number of Canadians as well?

Cannot lose something that doesn't exist and never has.  Overblown temporary paper projections.

35 Canadians, tell me you really care.

In short: Most of the estimated jobs were temporary.

The State Department forecasted that no more than 50 jobs, some of which could be located in Canada, would be required to maintain the pipeline. Thirty-five of them would be permanent, while 15 would be temporary contractors.

Of course others disagree, the owner of XLP. There are no 12,000 American Union jobs but you keep on trying to BS your way. Also, there is no $90k a year the jobs lasts 4 to 6 months.

Keep on throwing out the strawman since you have no actual facts.

When Trump was in charge the left sure as hell expected his Administration to be the one that made the effort for unity. Of course when Trump tried the Democrats quickly changed their tunes- and switched their positions. Remember when Democrats wanted fair trade deals (especially with China) to improve the lives of US workers. and make the US more competitive world wide? Remember when they wanted to be out of Afghanistan and Iraq?

Of course Trump takes office and the Democrats suddenly thought all of our trade deals were great; and turned into the biggest chicken hawks on the planet concerning US military involvement overseas.

Biden and the Democrats have already proven they don't give a shit about unity by their current actions. The only "unity" going on is between Democrats and their shills in the media.

No, the Democrats didn't want unity. Talking about impeachment before Trump even took office.

Turning their backs on Democratic fundamentalist ideals; just because Trump was for it

Seems the left can forgive the Democrats of anything.

very true , and when stationed in europe on the german border , the french belgian and dutch i encountered had many names they referred to the SS as blackshirts was one of the "nicer" names they were called . the different color uniforms/ blouses denoted the different groups(SA vs SS) within germany in the early and middle days of that government.( no doubt something they copied from italy)

i spent 84-85 there when there were still a number of old timers that lived through the war still alive , and spent a lot of off time listening to what they had to say and their opinions and memories of that war . of course i could not get away without them paying for a drink without insulting them , they spotted american GIs right off the bat , and i never had to say anything.
