Talk about divisive rhetoric regarding the 4th of July, Independence Day, fireworks, the flag, and the 1776 founding of our country by our founding fathers and their documents.  These people hate America and everything America and our flag stands for.  Let’s see the progressive left who thought my traditional pro America traditional Independence Day articles were divisive have to say about all this!

Democrat Cori Bush slams the Fourth of July, claims 'Black people still aren't free'

Left-wing activists and news organizations shared comments disparaging Independence Day

Lindsay Kornick 15 hours ago

One Democratic lawmaker and several left-wing figures used the Fourth of July to share controversial statements or disparage the founding of the United States.

Democrat Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo, tweeted out, "When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for White people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free."

There were some who agreed with Bush's comments, like congressional candidate Shahid Buttar. He replied to her tweet saying, "Speak it, @CoriBush! It’s almost as if our entire country has been brainwashed to ignore our history—and how its worst elements continue today—despite our self-congratulatory rhetoric."

Former MSNBC anchor Toure was far more vocal, tweeting out "F--k Independence Day. Not only were we not free, the whole reason the Colonies wanted independence was because Britain was moving toward abolishing slavery. Why would Black people celebrate a day so wrapped up in our enslavement?"

He also tweeted out his own opinion piece for the website The Grio titled "F--k Fourth of July: The only independence day I recognize is Juneteenth."

Actress Alyssa Milano also disparaged the Fourth of July by sharing a TikTok video of herself reading, "Reminder: The United States was founded on the unjust treatment of Native Americans, Africans and other people of color."

News organizations also took the opportunity to use the holiday to criticize the United States and its history.

NPR tweeted out a thread of the original Declaration of Independence, claiming it to be "a document with flaws and deeply ingrained hypocrisies." It also remarked immediately that the document "says ‘that all men are created equal’ — but women, enslaved people, Indigenous people and many others were not held as equal at the time."

The Washington Post went even further by posting several opinion pieces that critique the holiday or use it for political partisanship. These pieces included " The Fourth is for complainers ," " Independence Day 2021 is an apt occasion to celebrate America’s liberation from Trump ," and a perspective piece titled " July Fourth is Independence Day for two countries. But for one it is hollow ."

This followed the New York Times opinion piece that suggested the American flag became a symbol of divisiveness. In the article titled "A Fourth of July Symbol of Unity That May No Longer Unite."

"Today, flying the American flag from the back of a pickup truck or over a lawn is increasingly seen as a clue, albeit an imperfect one, to a person’s political affiliation in a deeply divided nation," the article states.

Why Does Cori Bush Hate America So Much?

2a8eb53e-9c4f-4da0-8a93-cb4e4acbaefa-500x250.jpg

Source: AP Photo/Jeff Roberson, File

Bonchie over at our sister site of RedState had a good point when reporting on Rep. Cori Bush's (D-MO) tweet, with the headline of " The Most Disgusting, Ridiculous 4th of July Take Goes Forth ."

This squad member never ceases to amaze:

Last time I checked, slavery was abolished by the Thirteenth Amendment, back in 1865. Slaves were, in fact, freed thanks to the Emancipation Proclamation. It took some time for every slave to be freed, two and a half years in fact, but freed they were, on June 19, 1865, also known as Juneteenth. President Joe Biden just signed into law a bill commemorating that day as a federal holiday. Rep. Bush, as did almost all other members of Congress, save for a few Republicans in the House.

It's sad that a sitting member of Congress, who was elected to serve her constituents, has to be such a bitter and angry woman who hates this country so much, despite the opportunities she's been afforded. It's also sad that she apparently needs a history lesson, but here we are.

Can we do better in this country? Of course, we always can. Has the congresswoman had struggles in her life? I do not doubt that, especially when she's so forthcoming about them.

We had a President that touted racist dog whistles voted out of office, we have had confederate statutes torn down, we have had the largest settlements against Police departments in our history. Juneteenth. We need to realize we have work to do, but also accept the progress made.

— LFK (@farley3470) July 4, 2021

The criticism came from all races, too.

Bonchie makes similar points, while also warning of the dangers of equity which we need to continue to be vigilant on:

Keep in mind, this is a House member who grew up poor, rose to prominence via her activism, and was elected to office by the voters of Missouri. If anyone is representative of the incredible privilege all Americans enjoy at a base level to better themselves, it’s Bush. Yet, instead of showing any gratitude, she proclaims that only white people enjoy the freedom that July 4th represents.

Of course, when you challenge people with this attitude to explain themselves, they never do. What freedom does Bush lack? Ask that question, and you’ll likely end up being called a racist. Objectively, black people are absolutely free in this country, and though it’s often dismissed, the fact that we’ve had a black president is proof of that.

That’s not to say that everyone has the same starting point, but that’s always been true throughout all of human history, no matter the location. You can not mandate equity in all things. It’s an impossible, utopian pursuit that only ends up lowering everyone into misery and poverty.

We as a country, which includes Rep. Bush no matter how ungrateful she may be, have come along way, and it's absolutely shameful that she can't recognize that, on the 4th of July of all days.

Happy Fourth Of July 2021 – Ben Garrison Cartoon

Ben Garrison July 5, 2021

Don’t Let Them extinguish The Flame Of Liberty

It’s time to push back. Let’s call “cancel culture” what it really is, communism.

The globalist-minded Marxists have been doing their best to destroy the America we once knew. They’ve even imprisoned political prisoners—Trump supporters who protested at the capitol. They want to paint all Trump supporters as ‘white nationalists,’ which they then morph into white supremacist terrorists.

More people die from being hit by lightening than from white supremacist terror.

The lying Soviet Bolsheviks used this tactic, too. They demonized the Kulaks and eventually murdered millions. The Democrats are the new Bolsheviks. When you hear them bark about ‘our democracy,’ they really mean ‘our communism.’ They think the end justifies the means. Their end is total power and a complete end to our Republic.

Your literally endless praises of the founding fathers , not just around the 4th of July but 365 days a year, is an example of what infuriates people such as those mentioned in this article.

No doubt unlike you, I looked at the article by Toure in The Griot.  It contains Frederick Douglas' thoughts on the slaves view of the  4th of July -

“A day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants, brass fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, are, to Him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy — a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of the United States, at this very hour.”

--------------------

No one can go back and rewrite history , and until very recently the history of the treatment of blacks and other racial minorities, particularly the American Indians, has been utterly abysmal in America.

Recognize that and admit that and maybe the nation can completely move forward.  Deny that and continue the pollyanna pretending that the founding of the nation was totally a celebration of equality and freedom and the problems we face with race may never end.

Every time I see an article like this, it strikes that there is nothing better the right would like than a regime like North Korea, Russia, or Iran where they could arrest anyone that dared speak badly about something.  That seems to be what they are indicating every time someone says something they don't agree with.

America badly mistreated people of color for over 350 years  (much more depending if you go back to Columbus) and there are people alive today who took part in that mistreatment and suffered from it. Not enough time has passed since the mid 60's when some of these issues were addressed by Congress in the form of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.  Yes there has been progress, but still not enough. It takes time to repair the damage of centuries.  One or two generations is not near enough.

Just man up and take your medicine.

The problem I see with this is that to some people, the solution to "take your medicine" is to reverse the field and put the Blacks in charge of everything.   That ignores that not all whites are oppressors and not all blacks are oppressed. That's one of the greatest things about this country, that we are not born into a caste system but are all born with the same great potential to better ourselves.

Now the first place where I think this country fails is the education system. Schools are funded by property taxes and some areas of the country are better off financially than others and have the ability to provide better funding to their local schools. But others do not have the funding and fall short of being able to provide the same levels of education. So children come out of school with less abilities to better themselves. Then government gets involved with standardized tests to show the education level of the children in an attempt to identify where to direct resources and they tie money to test results and golly gee what a surprise the schools start to teach towards passing the tests rather than actually teaching the children. Add more political BS to the mix and it's a wonder that Johnny is able to read at graduation .

Fix the funding for the educational system, take the political and social BS out of the system and get back to teaching children the basics. Teach reading, writing, science, ethics, and above all else how to think.

I dont really have any objection to that in general, but I do think public schools have an obligation to teach children social studies, because if they dont no one else will. Parents and families will pass along their own prejudices to their children.

Conservatives seem to prefer a "sanitized" history of this country.  Progress will be easier and quicker if we tell kids the truth about the course of this nation.

Agreed, social studies, civics, government.  I also agree with telling the entire truth. My problem, and we see such stories from all over, where the school systems have gone too far in reversing the sanitized history. As i said, not all whites are oppressors and they should not be taught that they are. Teach the truth without any political or partisan spin.

The mistake that some whites make is that when someone says "all whites are racist" they take it as a personal insult against them as an individual.  That is not what is being said by that phrase.

As far as school goes, we should stop putting individuals like Washington and Jefferson up on a pedestal for children to admire. First of all it is not necessary to the creation of a good citizenry and second it it problematic historically.

Yes , they were men of their times but we are not in their times anymore.

It doesnt matter if every individual white is racist or not. America is historically a "white" country, run by whites with white interests at the forefront. Changes in that to some degree are very recent.

When someone says all whites are racist they are talking about the "all" part, not you as an individual.

It's not anyone else's fault if people like you don't understand that.

Then what is being said?  It's four little words, the meaning of the four words is known and accepted, so what is being said here that means something different than what those 4 words say?

An elite Manhattan school is teaching white students as young as 6 that they’re born racist and should feel guilty benefiting from “white privilege,” while heaping praise and cupcakes on their black peers.

When someone says all whites are racist they are talking about the "all" part, not you as an individual.

And I obviously do not agree with that statement.

When this country was founded there were some free blacks.  Yes, not many but there were some. But for the most part, the leadership of this country at the start was white men.  But this teaching takes the issue out of context. It isn't right to judge the founding fathers by todays standards any more than it would be right to judge you by their standards.

And when someone says that "all" whites are racist,  it really does mean to me that they are including me as I am part of that whites group.  So unless you are changing the meaning of words it's difficult to tie up your statement.

Black Americans Blast Democrat Cori Bush After She Falsely Claims Black People ‘Aren’t Free’ In U.S.

Far-left Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) faced widespread backlash on Sunday after she demonized the United States on the Fourth of July by falsely claiming that blacks are still not free.

“When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people,” Bush tweeted. “This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.”

Numerous notable black Americans slammed Bush over her remarks, including:

Darrell B. Harrison, podcast host: “Cori Bush is an angry black woman—a very angry black woman. Her anger is eating her alive from the inside out. I pity her because the ‘freedom’ she seeks is not the freedom she needs. As such, freedom will continue to evade her as long as she carries that anger within her heart.”

Leo Terrell, political commentator: “Do not respond to this idiot: She just wants attention: She hates herself!!!”

Kimberly Klacik, former GOP congressional candidate: “I could say something rude, but I think it’s best to make sure we have someone running against her & ensure that individual has our full support along with access to every resource necessary to take her seat in 2022.”

Katrina Pierson, political adviser: “Apparently history continues to escape black Democrats who have probably never heard of Crispus Attucks. But then, these are the same people that continue to be, and vote for, Democrats who marginalize, compartmentalize, and victimize minorities in this country then complain.”

Thomas Chatterton Williams, writer: “I’m a 40-year-old American descendent of slaves. The year is 2021, and I have been ‘free’ my entire life. Another thought: Who is the ‘they’ in this construction? The implication is that black people (and presumably other non-whites) uniformly feel alienated from such notions of freedom. This would shock Ralph Ellison, Albert Murray, Stanley Crouch, and countless anonymous others.”

Other notable responses include:

Allie Beth Stuckey, podcast host: “If you believe this, the moral thing to do would be to leave for a more virtuous country where black people are free and the land wasn’t stolen. Maybe there you’ll be able to run for political office.”

Erick Erickson, political commentator: “America is so awesome even people who aren’t free can get elected to the United States Congress! America F— Yeah!”

Dean Cain, actor: “Support this person at your own peril. Dangerous, divisive rhetoric that does nothing to help the USA or its citizens.”

Jay Caruso, editor: “You’re an elected member of the United States House of Representatives. You’re not only free, you’re one of the privileged. Have some self awareness.”

Ellen Carmichael, commentator: “FFS I don’t mean to be this person but if you hate this place so much, just go. There are some folks who see America as not only having zero positive qualities but also as having no hope for redemption. It’s tiresome and quite frankly boring at this point. The punishment is the point. My husband is an immigrant who wrote ‘USA! USA! USA!’ on July 4th on our family calendar. People like Cori Bush are out of their minds.”

Conor Friedersdorf, writer: “The freedom I’m referring to and that literally every freedom-loving friend I have is referring to is universalistic–our high regard for the principles of the Declaration is inextricable from its status as a promissory note anyone could and indeed did insist on cashing.”

Britt Griffith: “This thinking is the product of public schools and woke University…. My multi millionaire minority boss who dropped out of HS in Chile to come to the USA thinks different. She tells us all the time how lucky and blessed she was to make it to America.”

Richard Grenell, former Trump administration official: “We should be clear: many Democrats hate America. Stop supporting these radicals who hate the greatest country in the world.”

Even if we go by the dubious conclusion that racism ended with the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, anyone over the age of 57 was alive during a period of legal racial discrimination. Lets even require that they have been teenagers at that time, that still leaves everyone over 70.

Nancy Pelosi: ‘Let Us Recognize the Vision of Our Founders’

pelget1.jpg

(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) put out a “Dear Colleague” letter as the nation headed into the Fourth of July weekend in which she described the Fourth as her “favorite non-religious holiday.”

The Fourth of July is my favorite non-religious holiday, one when we all draw inspiration from the great courage of our Founders,” Pelosi said .

“As we go forward, let us recognize the vision of our Founders, always honoring their guidance, E Pluribus Unum: from many, one,” she said.

Here is the full text of Pelosi’s “Dear Colleague” letter :

Dear Colleague to All Members on Fourth of July Weekend

July 2, 2021

Press Release

Dear Colleague,

This weekend, we gloriously observe the Fourth of July, celebrating the birth of our democracy and the blessings of liberty bestowed upon our country.

The Fourth of July is my favorite non-religious holiday, one when we all draw inspiration from the great courage of our Founders.

My favorite Fourth of July quote this year was presented by Barbara Clark Smith, a curator of political history at the National Museum of American History, who said that the signing of the Declaration of Independence was “an extraordinary achievement… They did find a way to put differences aside and join together to work for a common goal.  While declaring independence, they also declared interdependence.”

As we go forward, let us recognize the vision of our Founders, always honoring their guidance, E Pluribus Unum: from many, one.

Best wishes for a joyful and harmonious Fourth of July Weekend.

As you have already correctly stated, SCOTUS has already decreed that there was zero voter suppression anyway. Done deal and end of story.

If Corey Bush thinks blacks are not free, she might want to let the authorities know that she, as a black woman , who makes 174,000 a year, is being used as slave labor by some unknown owner.

I swear the people with the biggest mouths are those that are members of the one percent they claim to hate. Maybe she needs to give up some of that unearned cash she has and go all out socialist she worships and give it to every other " held down" black person.

They want such people to believe systemic racism still exists and to attack African Americans who say that it doesn’t exist.

What an idiot.  A member of Congress publicly attacks her country without having to fear punishment and claims she isn’t free.

She’s obviously a fool, but How dumb are the people who vote for her?

Lol.  The best deflection you can come up with is equating   her to Donald trump and you still have to resort to making things up about him to do it

.  No surprise progressives would rally around someone they equate to Donald trump, as long as she’s on their side.

‘Stolen Land’: Reps. Maxine Waters, Cori Bush Complain About America, Declaration Of Independence On Fourth Of July | The Daily Wire

Reps. Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Cori Bush (D-MO) spent the Fourth of July complaining about the United States and the Declaration of Independence.

“July 4th… & so, the Declaration of Independence says all men are created equal. Equal to what? What men? Only white men? Isn’t it something that they wrote this in 1776 when African Americans were enslaved? They weren’t thinking about us then, but we’re thinking about us now!” Waters tweeted.

‘Further, the Dec. of Ind. says we hold these truths to be “self-evident”… yet: – 17 states have enacted voter suppression laws – Supreme Court gutted Sec. 5 of the Voting Rights Act – George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice Need I say more? #July4″ she added.

“When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people,” Bush tweeted. “This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.”

Waters and Bush echoed National Public Radio (NPR), who also condemned the nation’s founding document on Independence Day for the language the Founding Fathers used to describe American Indians. As The Daily Wire reported :

National Public Radio (NPR) denounced the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth of July because of terms it deemed offensive.

“245 years ago today, leaders representing 13 British colonies signed a document to declare independence,” NPR tweeted, linking to an article about its annual reading of the founding document. “It says ‘that all men are created equal’ — but women, enslaved people, Indigenous people and many others were not held as equal at the time.”

“The document also includes a racist slur against Indigenous Americans. Author David Treuer, who is Ojibwe, says there is a lot of diversity of opinion and thought among Native Americans — a community of more than 5 million people — about the document’s words,” NPR continued, adding a quote from Treuer: “We remain committed to forcing this country to live up to its own stated ideals.”

NPR continued to tweet the entire text of the Declaration, but also inserted an “editor’s note” to warn readers that the Founding Fathers used a “racist slur” when they accused King George III of endeavoring “to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.”

The Declaration of Independence and the nation’s other founding documents were recently found to demonstrate “structural racism,” according to a task force on racism at the National Archives, where the original documents are housed in Washington, D.C.

As The Daily Wire reported :

In an exclusive report out Sunday, Fox News noted that a “little noticed ” report from a National Archives task force on racism suggested the building, where America’s founding documents are displayed, was an example of “structural racism” and suggested major changes to how the Constitution and other notable records are presented in order to provide “context.” The group also reportedly suggested that the National Archive’s portrayal of individual founding fathers was too positive.

I don't have a problem with what they said. It appears to be truthful.

Are you saying that the WHITE Americans didn't steal the land from the Natives?

Sure they did, but that's what happened in the 18th and 19th century. It's called history.

What do you feel about Africans stealing land from other Africans. Should they give that land back?

Lol.. It was either conquered or bought. Just like it was before "white Americans" existed.

Every piece of land worth owning has been conquered at one time or another in history.  Everyone is a descendent of conquerors  and conquered, particularly in America. The  idea that anyone living has pure title to a piece of land back to  the dawn of humanity  is laughable.

Not to mention the mass migrations and conquests all over Europe North Africa and Asia of different people groups conquering and being conquered from the beginning of time and yet of all civilizations now everywhere only the four mostly white nations that were started by England in the 17th-19th centuries that are to feel collective guilt for ruining the world by creating the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.  This progressive self hate of the culture of these four nations, particularly this one is utterly contemptible.

I don't believe you read Sean's comment correctly.  It's obvious to me that what he said was that due to her First Amendment rights, she was able to attack her country without fear of punishment.

If you can cry to the heavens that you are not free, while you are free from the worry of reprisals, really seems like stupid to me.
