We were here when medical science lost its mind
By: Michael Brown

We are living in a truly messed up world. The secular progressive dream come true on so many levels. So twisted, evil, and ridiculous that society may not survive it unless we resist it at every level.

One day, when sanity returns to the world, we will be able to tell a future generation, “We were here when science lost touch with reality. We were here when the medical profession lost its mind. We were here when feelings displaced biology.”
Yes, we will get to tell the shocking story unless, of course, our society completely falls apart and self-destructs. Otherwise, we will get to bear witness to these days of societal madness and insanity.
Not that long ago, there was a time in our history when lobotomies were considered “miracle cures” for mental illness.
As explained in a 2011 BBC report , “Surgeons would drill a pair of holes into the skull, either at the side or top, and push a sharp instrument — a leucotome — into the brain. “The surgeon would sweep this from side to side, to cut the connections between the frontal lobes and the rest of the brain.”
Indeed, “These spikes once represented the leading edge of psychiatric science. They were the operative tools in lobotomy, also known as leucotomy, an operation which was seen as a miracle cure for a range of mental illnesses.”
How do we view this barbaric procedure today?
Another website lists , “9 Terrifying Medical Treatments from 1900 and Their Safer Modern Versions.”
First on the list was “Radium Water,” with this explanation: “Before radioactivity was fully understood, naturally occurring radium was lauded for its seemingly otherworldly benefits. Water was kept in radium-laced buckets, and people would drink the tainted liquid to cure everything from arthritis to impotence. Of course, this was an awful idea, and when people started to drop dead from this miracle water, the connection was made. Now, non-radioactive prescription drugs are used to combat arthritis and impotence.”
Today, however, we have taken things even further. Not only are we giving perfectly healthy 18-year-old girls full mastectomies. Not only are we putting pre-pubescent children on potentially dangerous hormone blockers, based entirely on how they feel about themselves. But we are also trashing biological realities in the name of ideology.
Perception now trumps biological sex. Feelings trump science.
As WebMD tweeted on July 30, “Sex should be removed as a legal designation on the public part of birth certificates, the American Medical Association (AMA) said Monday.”
The tweet was linked to an article on the WebMD website, which stated that, “Requiring it [meaning, one’s sex] can lead to discrimination and unnecessary burden on individuals whose current gender identity does not align with their designation at birth, namely when they register for school or sports, adopt, get married, or request personal records.”
In other words, when it comes to biological realities, we should kiss them goodbye — that is, if those realities contradict how you feel about yourself.
In fact, we should just kiss those realities goodbye in general, since, after all, the whole gender binary is oppressive.
That explains headlines like this , from the New York Post , July 31: “Harvard lecturer blasted by colleague for defending existence of biological sex.”
As reported by Fox, “Harvard lecturer Carole Hooven took heat from her own colleague after an appearance on Fox News this week in which she asserted that biological sex is real and defended the continued use of terms like ‘pregnant women’ and ‘male and female.’
“The ideology seems to be that biology really isn’t as important as how somebody feels about themselves, or feels their sex to be,’ Hooven told ‘Fox & Friends’ Wednesday [July 28]. ‘The facts are that there are in fact two sexes — there are male and female — and those sexes are designated by the kind of gametes we produce.”
So much for scientific facts.
Today, we know better. Today, we know that men can menstruate and conceive, carry, and deliver babies too. We also know that women can have penises.
We also know that anyone, like author J. K. Rowling, who would insist that only women can menstruate, is a hateful, small-minded, bigot.
We also know that well-researched, compassionately-written books like Ryan Anderson’s When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment , should be banned from Amazon. What dangerous ideas Anderson is espousing! How dare he argue that biology is not bigotry. Oh, the shame!
Yes, my friends, God helping us, the day will come when we will tell a future generation about this madness, about this day in which those who with the nerve and commitment to challenge this ideological insanity were marginalized and punished. And hopefully, by that time, we will have learned how to help trans-sufferers find wholeness from the inside out.
For now, we have to ride out the storm, keep our courage, bless those who curse us, and preserve our own sanity.
Stay the course, my friend.
* No sooner did I finish writing this article than I spotted this headline : “Olympic advisor on trans athletes says history may judge it 'less than ideal' that transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard is allowed to compete at Tokyo 2020.” Yes, “less than ideal,” to say the least. History will judge, indeed.
We are living in a totally messed up world. The secular progressives wet dream come true on so many levels. It’s so twisted, evil, and ridiculous that society may not survive it unless we resist it at every level. Big Tech and the mainstream media and progressive government are colluding to spread pro transgender propaganda and suppress and cancel all opposition to this perversion of science and nature.
Medical science is an ongoing process.
As new information is discovered, the theories change.
If the theories didn't evolve, science would be called religion.
Religion has changed as God has revealed new to us truth since the reformation that the original apostolic churches had and lost by the 4th and 5th century AD.
Religion still sells the same old BS story it always has. Nothing new there.
DaFuK? What is pro-transgender propaganda?
Medical science says you are born trans or you are not. There is no evidence that it is a choice that people make to be trans or non-binary.
There are some who will never believe…all have a free will choice to believe…or not to believe.
Pure psychobabble…
Medical science has made amazing progress despite religion.
Because there's no evidence and therefore no reason to believe.
If your god exists as described in the bible, then free will is impossible.
Is what someone says when they do not understand science.
Imagine how much further science, and by extension civilization, might have progressed if it wasn't for religion.
I was going to avoid this thread, but. . . randomization does not indicate progress alone. For example, nuclear states hold to a principle of Mutual Assured Destruction because fear is real. (Smile.)
MAD is there because of fear and paranoia.
Fear (of invasion) is tangible and keeps intruders at bay.
I don't know why some people choose to remain willfully ignorant too. It's also baffling.
There is a bucket of horse manure, and there is this article with its introductory comment and comments 1, 1.1 and 1.1.1. Which has more value?
The answer is actually easy. At least you can use the horse manure to fertilize the garden.
Thanks for your input. It is proof positive of the great value of Michael Browns article that I seeded.
Which Michael Brown?
The one killed by Darren Wilson or the failed FEMA Director of George Bush?
Surely not the Evangelist?
/s
An editor of The Stream who also contributes to a great many conservative and Christian sources articles on s wide variety of topics. A great Christian gentleman.
Which pretty much means that he is insane from the start?
Since there is no evidence of a being called god?
The cdc just admitted on CNN that the vaccine is no longer preventing transmission.
Israel said that a few days ago.
The experiment failed. But they still pushing the jab. LOL
I trust my bodies capability to provide long lasting natural immunity more than I will ever trust science.
For those wondering. I had covid. Extremely tired for 4 days. No big deal. For me h1n1 was much worse.
I still believe that the vaccine will provide conditions so that any breakthrough will be relatively mild for 99% of those affected. It would seem that anything a vaccinated person did pass on would be greatly weakened. I’m still pro vaccine. But I’m only for it on a voluntary basis. It is an abomination of our constitution and Declaration of Independence to compel or coerce others into taking it. Too bad there isn’t a vaccine that would make people comfortable with the biological bodies they were born with.
I'd rather that there was a vaccine for people who still believe in imaginary people so they develop critical thinking skills. Why don't you leave other people alone and keep your myths out of their lives and their bedrooms?
Your omniscient and omnipotent God knew that they would be trans, and made them the way that they are. He could make them CIS if he wanted to but that doesn't happen, so they were born the way your god wanted them. The problem is with judgement dirtbags who choose to attack anyone who doesn't look, like them and try to use the bible to defend their bigotry, just like the racists did 60 years ago. Maybe you could obey your words of Jesus as recorded in your own bible or would that be a violation of your religious beliefs?
Maybe you should start with Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31.
Agree
Not at all. it's air born. Takes root in the nasal passage and is inhaled and exhaled with every breath, unmodified.
Great !!!
Death wishing those people exercising their God given rights ?
Survival sometimes includes sacrifice. Bunker Hill, Masada and Fort Wagner come to mind.
Too bad there isn't a vaccine for attitudes like that.
Have had two doses of the Pfizer and am thinking of getting a bump.
Still suffering long hauler symptoms and am treating symptomatically.
He made us perfect male and female and ordained one man one woman marriage . Everything that followed the fall of Adam and Eve to sin is a result of sin and not of Gods creation.
Other than that we are both in favor of the vaccine we will have to agree to disagree about all the rest.
I have had both doses of the Pfizer vaccine with no side affects other than a sore arm where I got the shots for the first day afterwards, then nothing. I will definitely get the booster when it becomes available. I only listen to Doctors and Medical experts who deal in real medicine, not lies and politics.
And I am old enough to know better than to mess with serious diseases that can take my life, and that is why I get the Flu shot every year. I'm not smart enough to second guess the Creator. But, I'm smart enough to take my life seriously.
If God created everything He created sin too. Obviously. It is irrational to claim that sin is not the result of actions taken knowingly by an omnipotent, omniscient God. If God is perfect, omniscient and omnipotent as deemed by Christians, then everything is as God designed it to be.
Oh TiG, there you go inserting logic into things again.
Yes God created sin too (The Bible says so much too.)
It's not that 'simple,' nevertheless. At the instance God 'declared' a thing pure, good, and wholesome- on the spectrum-appeared impurity, bad, and unwholesome as a thing not meeting a unique standard.
If sin exists and people sin, God shares the blame too. He created it and allows it to happen. So the responsibility for it is shared.
Gordy, yes. God created sin by placing the standard. No contest. Yes, God is aware of sin in people. No contest.
Side note: I find it curious you do not 'blame" God entirely for putting the standard in place.
Well maybe you should try to explain to XX (LOL, good luck) that God created everything and that includes sin. XX seems to believe (without thinking this through) that omnipotent, omniscient God knowingly created everything except sin.
'Blame' probably is not the right word here. Sin, and everything else, is (per the belief) a result of the knowing acts of an omnipotent, omniscient entity. God, per the belief, is the first cause and is the epicenter for all cause and effect in reality. And that includes all the good and all the bad. XX cannot carve out convenient exceptions.
No problem. (Smile.) It's in the Bible:
I borrowed that wording from Gordy's comment @3.1.10..
Lets assume that God exists for a second. Once God decided to create an existence based (from the human perspective) on duality, he had to allow sin. In this existence good cannot be experienced without the possibility of bad. A lot of people have trouble comprehending or understanding this, but it really is quite simple.
The existence of evil in no way "proves" or demonstrates that God doesnt exist. The fact is that in order for us to experience good there has to be evil.
I have found that some people find creative ways to read what they want into scripture no matter how explicit the scripture is.
Wanna bet that XX doubles down and stands by his claim @3.1.4 that sin is not of God's creation?
I know.
God sure gets the "blame," as God is the primary cause or originator.
No bet there.
Following the opening assumption, it still is God's choice to distinguish good from evil. God made the distinction. He chose to create a reality where the agents were capable of doing good and evil.
Note: I am not being critical of the God defined by the Bible. Nor is this discussion about the existence of God. It is simply noting the (obvious) logic that a perfect, omnipotent, omniscient first cause is THE originating cause for everything.
That puts limitations on God's abilities. If God is omnipotent and can, by definition, do anything, then God is capable of not allowing sin to exist. So, only what God deems good would exist. Therefore, existence would only be good. Assuming Adam & Eve existed, the good oy existence is what they experienced before sin was introduced into their world.
It is not possible to experience good without something not good to compare it to.
If God is omnipotent then it can reconcile the supposed conundrum of a good God allowing evil .
Existence is what it is whether God exists or not. Human existence, as experienced, is clearly based on duality and relativity.
Yes, but per my point @3.1.21, God (per the belief) chose to make a distinction and create a reality where agent actions can be deemed good vs. evil (on a continuum). Alternatively, God could have chosen a reality where there is no such distinction. For example, consider the behavior of animals. Do we see good vs. evil in animals or is it simply animals (in general, I know there are rare exceptions) seeking to feed themselves and their offspring?
Assuming God exists and created existence, then logically, there would not be existence if God did not exist. And yes, it is possible to experience only good sins sin. Eden (again, assuming it existed) is proof of that. A&E existed in a microcosm of goodness until the point where sin was introduced. There was no duality until after that point.
Also, some believe that other races of sentient life exist (also created by god) but they didn't sin like humans did. Therefore, they exist in goodness only.
Emphatically.
Distinctions are required. Degrees are required.
I thought your belief is that the Garden of Eden is a fairy tale.
We know that good and evil exist, or at least what human beings perceive as good and evil. This in fact corresponds with the nature of this existence, which is duality and relativity.
None of this makes the existence of God less likely in any way.
No bet. Jefferson, will essentially need to explain how God knew the beginning from the end (Alpha and Omega) without knowing sin to be threaded throughout and for duration.
Recorded history proves that LGBT people have existed longer then your religion.Jesus mentioned trans people and he didn't condemn them. Matthew 19:12.
You might want to refresh yourself of Matthew 12:31. or is following that commandment a violation of your religious beliefs? Why is it that you claim that Jesus is the son of your god and savior, and yet you are desperate to ignore and find exceptions to his core teachings? There is a name for what you do. Do you want me to tell you want it is?
Did you forget that intersexed people also exist?
A better word choice would be, "innocent." Only God is perfect in the religious sense. Therefore, only God is without sin and able to judge it.
Thus, [God] made us perfect male and female and ordained one man one woman marriage.
God is the primary cause and originator. What. . . is the Charge (against God)?
Why? Does a lion kill an antelope because it is evil? Do lions engage in evil acts? Do they have evil thoughts?
God apparently (per the belief) chose to make the distinction of good vs. evil for human beings but clearly, logically, He had other options. Distinctions are NOT required.
@3.1.26 we were addressing humanity and the continuum of sin.
In the beginning, animals were and are created innocent Humanity, a higher grade of animal, were created innocent. (see @3.1.30.) Afterwards humanity were given a standard, which they in the course of time failed -breaking from innocence with God.
Notice how I said "assuming" Eden or A&E existed? I am operating from that assumption, which does not speak about my beliefs or lack thereof.
Good and evil are just concepts which we define or assign to certain thoughts or actions. You are ignoring what I said about A&E existing before sin (and by extension, evil) existed. So at some point, there was only goodness and no evil (or sin).
By the same token, none of that makes the existence of god more likely either. But I'm not really arguing about the existence of god.
That god created sin (or evil). Instead, some try to attribute such things to humans alone.
Agreed. God created sin by setting a standard according to our faith tradition.
And still, God's will. My point, I remind you, is that God (as defined) is the perfect, omnipotent, omniscient first cause. Everything is, ultimately, God's will. Thus, by that definition, it is not possible to state, as XX did, that sin was not created by God.
Apparently you agree but you are writing a post that appears as though you disagree.
I agree. The Bible states God created everything (Alpha and Omega). I disagree with Jefferson (unfortunately not news).
A requirement for those with sexual urges other than one man one woman in marriage in order to be saved.
What a wonderful Christian sentiment.
If you act on your sexual instincts and are not strictly heterosexual you will NOT be saved (aka you are damned). This is the problem of letting the ignorant musings of ancient men guide one's life.
In addition, there are those who think God actually creates each of us. Aside from the fact that would negate the need for sexual reproduction, it means if one is homosexual, then God must have created that individual as a homosexual. But God supposedly does not like that but he created said individual? There are so many logical fails with religion and associated beliefs, I've lost count now.
NO the CDC did NOT say that. That is simply willful anti-vaxer disinformation.
Yes they did say that on CNN so feel free to attack the source. LOL
"But what they can't do anymore is prevent transmission."
Your funny
Vaccinated people still catch and spread the virus. #VaccineFail
Great final word reply! Well done!
Yes, that is already known. The vaccine is not 100% effective. It's called "breakthrough infections," and they occur at a relatively low rate. Or did you think otherwise?
Early evidence led by the Israelis in March and April indicated an increased protection against transmission.
That has since dropped to 50% by the Israelis.
That's not a failed experiment.
The more effective a vaccine is, the less hospitalization and death.
Blocking transmission isn't even a pipe dream until 95% of everyone on the planet is vaccinated.
Don't bloviate on things you don't understand.
Go fishing, you will probably live longer.
Glad to see you survived unscathed,
sorry to see 615,000 fellow citizens did not.
Since H1N1 is related, that may well have saved your life.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?
The drug was designed to keep people from catching and spreading covid. Period.
It does neither = FAIL
I have had the vaccines and did not catch the disease = WIN. Same with the wife and both entire families = WIN.
Both RNA drugs are experimental and rushed to the public without lengthy trials, we are the final test.
In Fact none of the vaccines are actually approved by the FDA yet and some may never get there.
All vaccines are designed to artificially stimulate our bodies develop immunity to the virus that causes the illness without us having to get the illness. We are using multiple vaccines that use different mechanisms to achieve that outcome.
Given the choice between take your chances on your own or a vaccine that's pretty good, I'm taking the vaccine until they produce something better.
That is cherry-picking. The statement was that IF a vaccinated person is infected (known as a 'breakthrough infection') THEN they are as infectious as an unvaccinated person. The rest of the story is that the vaccines are highly effective at preventing people from getting infected.
In short, yes, get vaccinated to mitigate contributing to the spread of COVID-19 and its variants such as Delta.
I am curious, why do you put forth comments that would encourage others to not get vaccinated? To what end?
Intentional dishonesty.
To what useful end?
There is none. I can find no use for spreading misinformation or dishonesty.
“We were here when conservatism lost touch with reality. We were here when some conservatives' lost their mooring. We were here when critical thinking failed to repair the conservative breach.”
Conservative thought is the definition of critical thinking. It is the secular progressive left that relies upon emotion and illogic to sell their ideology.
Yeah and some conservatives telling lies like there is no tomorrow to tell any is not critical-thinking.
Progressive ideology is the lie here.
'Talk' is cheap.
I’m not the expert on that…
Sure. Are. Go ahead. Take a bow .
Said everyone who has ever been born at one point or another.
Can you list these things you obviously disagree with?
Are you the poster child for the boy who cried Wolf?
There is always give and take along our march to improve humanity.
Try not to be on the side that fades into obscurity.
I am on the correct side here.
Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. It doesn't seem anyone else is going to.
See comment 2, above.
It is something that you will never experience…
Another empty declaration. Yawn!
Says the expert on making such declarations..
Except I've made no declarations.
You’ve never posted here?
No the CDC did NOT say that. That is simply willful disinformation.
Oops don't know how the double post happened.
It's still worthy of a "thumbs up" no matter how many times you repeat it!
See 3.2.1
